After dispatching the monsters laying siege to the royal capital and aiding in the bloom of the Royal Sakura blossoms, Satou and his party are finally able to welcome the new year. But even more exciting than New Year festivities is the auction surrounding the Ring of Prayer! If Satou wins the bid, he might just be able to free Arisa and the others from servitude!
I've been following this series now for several years and while I'm still enjoying it I find more and more that I preferred the web novel version which was much further along in the story by this point. While this volume isn't bad by any means I am disappointed that I had to wait 8 months for it to be translated only for nothing at all to happen in it, I would say it was the most slice of life volume so far but really It didn't even have enough slice of life to be slice of life, it was basically just the details of what went on for about a week. At the rate they are translating this series people will forget about it and lose interest in it and it isn't due to the release rate in Japan which is still consistent and this volume is like 3 years old.
Enough rambling though, if you've liked the series so far you will enjoy this but be aware it's basically a set up volume though it does further deviate some major plot points from the web novel.
If someone from Yen On happens to see this review, the audience is going to keep getting smaller and smaller if you guy's don't pick up the translation rate.
If you've made it this far into the series I probably don't need to sell you on it, more than worth your time. Centering on the capital this episode covers a lot of light reading goodness about the gang relaxing with a little drama provided by thieves and the remaining assassins from the last book.
It was great. This volume had a good amount of Slice of life and action. The series never disappoints and it's nice to see long term plot points get a resolution
An acceptable middle point between arcs, this volume was more slice of life than the action we have seen in the previous few volumes. This did feel like a filler volume. Hopefully the next volume is either just as good if not better.
Having defeated the demon-lead army, Satou and friends get to enjoy the new year celebrations, their reward ceremonies and the auction. In short, the slice-of-life story continues, this volume with little action, although there is a bit of character and world development and of course entertaining interactions between the various characters. Clearly a breather after events in volume 17, and setting up things to come, because when a MC states that he is going to avoid something, we all know how unlikely that is going to be. All in all, an enjoyable read, much like previous volumes, although the lack of action/tension and or plot (progress) is not for everybody.
