Season 2 of the best-selling series kicks off with an audacious prison break. The characters that went to jail in season 1 are all in the same prison, and when the breakout happens, no one knows who is behind it.
For those new to the series, this is a perfect jumping on point because this is where the main overall story starts. For long time readers of the series, welcome back.
A beautifully crafted and interwoven set of tales. For all the posturing that this, even though it is the seventh volume, is the foundation of things to come, I didn't believe it for one moment. How wrong was I.
The book sets everything up. For what? I don't know. The first season now feels like a set of trailers or a web series of what it is really all about. I am so excited for what the subsequent volumes will bring.
If there is a downside then it is that it feels a little more conventional. In the storytelling, if nothing else. It feels that there is a stronger sense of consistency. Perhaps Neil Gibson is exerting more editorial control over himself.
