The 6th and 7th Squads team up to rescue the abducted Yuuki, kidnapped by a humanoid Shuuki…who turns out to be his long-lost sister Aoba. Upon learning about their situation, Yuuki tries to convince his sister to let go of her hostility toward the Demon Defense Force, but their conflicting ideals lead to a fierce battle between the two siblings!
Love the addition of the bonus manga, loads of opportunities for fan service and comedy. I like how the characters are very thought out and have a lot of backstory into mostly everyone. Fanservice in the core story was good but still feels like it could use more. I’m loving the story and can’t wait for the next volume again because the cliffhanger is so good and hopefully learn more of the mysterious villains.
Lots of great quality overall from authors notes before and after the manga. More series need this. Would love to see this as a anime, seems like it has enough dialogue, depth and whatnot but we’ll see.
Edit: wow I guess we will see how the anime does!! Please be uncensored 🤞
At last, we get a confrontation between Kyouka and her squad on one end and Aoba (Yuuki's overprotective and now-evil sister) and her colleagues on the other, and that was the big draw of this tankoubon with Tenka now having a flaw she has yet to overcome, which is her obsession with making Yuuki her husband despite Yuuki's obvious lack of romantic interest in her, which helped the stakes in the battle as it made Aoba more mad. The best part was Shushu's sexy nightmare from the "bonus manga" segment, which I found to both comedic and visually appealing, but hopefully, Yuuki and Shushu do make passionate love in a later chapter as opposed to Yuuki eating her (LOL!), and the female nudity never ceases to be beautiful looking, as beautiful as timeless artistic depictions of the Greek goddesses being naked. I always think of the beautiful females of manga, anime, and Japanese video games as being like the modern-day Japanese goddesses of beauty (when you compare them to the Greek goddess Aphrodite), and Chained Soldier, like much of manga, doesn't fail to treat its beautiful heroines and villainesses like a combination of war goddess Athena and beauty goddess Aphrodite. With the arrival of new opponents for Kyouka & Co. to face at the end of this tankoubon, I'm craving for the next tankoubon.
Continues to be a really enjoyable series, we get some good explanation that is refreshing (usually series seem to like to drag these mysteries out) which creates this new dynamic between sides. Consistant ecchi as usual, and some really fun fight scenes. Curious to see how this plot could continue, if it will deepen and have a legitimate end goal, or focus just on the surface level stuff we learned about to create fights between all of the factions. I have a feeling it will get to a legitimate bigger goal, the way it’s being written, and I love that the ecchi is always here to keep me entertained!
The fight scenes in this volume are drawn really well and the story is progressing at a well timed pace. Plus the women are always killing it what’s not to like!
