Will

Freshman year is going to be my year.

I’m no longer the ugly duckling I used to be. Thanks to a late growth spurt and a nasty puck to the face that knocked my buck teeth right out of my head, I no longer resemble the awkward kid I once was.

As Bainbridge Hockey’s newest center, I’m gonna enjoy every bit of attention the ladies of Bainbridge want to give me.

But I soon find out that looking the part is only half the battle. And if I want to lose my virginity before I make it to the big leagues, I’m going to need to learn the fine art of dating. Or at least how to kiss without being compared to a dying jellyfish. So that means I need help.

But they don’t make tutors for dating. Do they?

Mel

Senior year is off to a rough start.

One of my best friends has moved on to grad school, and my other best friend spends all her free time with her boyfriend.

And my boyfriend? Oh, he’s a lying, cheating jerk. I learned that the hard way when I caught him in bed with his wife.

Looking back, it’s clear that my ex lied about everything and I wasted almost a year of my life with him. Dating a professor wasn’t my smartest move, but I’m wiser now, and I’ve made a promise to myself: no more relationships.

So when my friends surprise me at the charity bachelor auction and buy me a date with a hot young hockey player, I’m less than thrilled. I mean, he’s nice to look at, but I’m not in the market for anything more than a hookup.

When our date ends in disaster, the last thing I expect is for Will to ask me for a favor. And what I really don’t expect is to say yes.

This is the first book in the Bainbridge Hockey series. It features a brand new hero and a heroine readers will love!

What attracted me to reading this story was the part in the blurb that went like this … ”if I want to lose my virginity before I make it to the big leagues”. That’s fresh enough for me, an avid reader, to grab ahold of and not let go. The author did not disappoint! If I could have read this story nonstop, I would have, but I started too late in the day, so it took two days. And I hated when it was over! These two were fun and written appropriately to their age group and circumstance. I’m normally not one to jump on this age group, but again, that whole virgin hero plus college student thing really grabbed me LOL

Scoring Chance was sweet and sexy and endearing and a delightful reading experience. I loved the characters and the storyline, and they all made for an excellent reading experience.

This is only my second book by Andi and I can already tell I’m going to keep an eye out for future books!

I LOVED this book. Will is such an amazing guy. I adored how awkward and nervous he was. He had such an endearing vibe to him. But to watch his character grow and develop into the amazing and confident man was so much fun. Mel was such a fun treat too. I loved her blunt honesty - even if it isn't what someone wants to hear. I loved how she was with Will. How she opened up her heart again even if she didn't want to or realize it. These two were so much fun. I couldn't get enough of them and I was thoroughly sad when I finished it. I wanted more. There were also a few easter eggs for upcoming books in this series and oh man . . . if I am correct they are going to be delicious. Great start to a new series.

Okay, so hockey romance is one of my favorite things, and this one didn’t disappoint!

Will is a freshman, brand new to the team, and entirely inexperienced in the ways of dating and women.

Enter Mel, a twenty two year old accounting major whose current outlook on dating and men is very pessimistic.

Will and Mel are definitely a case of opposites attract, but their relationship works, even when they were only “fake” dating.

Will is very exuberant, but honestly, that’s just part of his charm!!! I loved watching him gain confidence as the book progressed.

As for Mel, I feel like she’s very jaded, but being with Will allowed her to loosen up and have fun for a change.

I would recommend to fans of hockey and/or college romance!

Mel is an accounting major recovering from a messy break-up with a cheating professor. Will is a shy, inexperienced freshman on the hockey team. After a disastrous charity bachelor auction date, Will asks Mel to help him learn how to date, and she reluctantly agrees. What starts as dating coaching-turned fake relationship slowly develops into real feelings as they spend more time together.

I liked a lot about this book. Will was sweet, awkward, and earnest in a way that makes you root for him. Mel’s guarded personality felt real after her heartbreak. The college setting and hockey backdrop added charm, and the fake relationship was handled with fun and humour.

I did find there quite a few moments of telling rather than showing, with characters’ feelings and reactions often being summarized rather than shown through actions, dialogue or internal conflicts. This made the emotions feel less immediate or impactful.

Overall, this was an entertaining read with a sweet romance and likeable characters.

I can sum up this book in two words: refreshing and cute. Not the words that I usually use to describe a hockey romance, but they definitely fit here.

Will is a 20-year old college freshman and one of the newest members of the Bainbridge hockey team. His goals for this year? Let loose and live a little, and lose his V-card while he's at it. When one of his team mate's set him up with Mel during a fundraising auction, it doesn't go well at first, but then these two realize that pretending to date could help both of them. Will has a lot to learn and Mel needs to escape her past, so it's really a win-win, just as long as they don't let real feelings get in their way.

This is the first book in this series, but I actually started the series with book two, and this is one of those instances where I'm kind of glad that I did. There were moments in this book that just meant more to me since I know where that story is going. As for Will and Mel...Will is absolutely adorable in his awkwardness and it was so refreshing to see a hockey player that wasn't the brooding alpha for a change. I enjoyed watching Will gain his confidence and discover himself, and I loved Mel for teaching him all the ways to be the best boyfriend.

There is plenty of fun to be had with this hockey team and I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Scoring Chance by Andi Burns is the first book in her newest Sports Romance series Bainbridge Hockey. Consisting of what will be interconnected Standalones set in the Hockey world.
The first book is a Reverse Age-Gap that follows Melanie ‘Mel’ Regina Cohen and Will Franconetti through the telling of their dual perspective.

Mel and Will’s story surprised me in many ways from what Andi delivered. The main being my overall enjoyment, despite it being a Reverse Age-Gap which happens to be a least favourite trope of mine to read.

Following along in their story led to a not so easy journey filled with highs and lows and ups and downs, which was to be expected considering not only were they complete opposites.
But also with Mel’s past interfering in her present life in the form of her ex, causing drama to build and unfold resulting in the growth of suspenseful moments. Which eventually led to some explosions from the aftermath.
Ultimately keeping you holding on tight with reading onwards to see it all play out.

When it came to the relationship Mel and Will shared, it was entertaining to say the least since Andi had you LOL’ing here and there throughout. Especially when it came to the witty banter they shared, particularly on Will’s part. Given his innocence and naivety, which you couldn’t help but love about him.
Their relationship was truly a special one with ongoing growing chemistry that was genuine from the very beginning. Even despite how their relationship began in being fake. Slowly yet surely they brought the fire and sparks as time went on. Turning into so much more than they could've expected.

All in all, Scoring Chance was not only such a sweet, cute yet entertaining read. Whilst bringing forth a genuine and realistic view point that came from a particular part of the storyline.
It ended up being a great start to the newest series from Andi too.
A job well done to Andi Burns, can’t wait to read more from Bainbridge Hockey series to see how the other characters stories will play out. Especially with the sneak peeks we were given from the inclusion of secondary characters.

I picked up Scoring Chance because the premise immediately caught my attention — a virgin hockey player looking for help in the dating department? That’s not something you come across every day! And let me tell you, it delivered everything I hoped for and more.

Will, a 20-year-old freshman and new addition to the Bainbridge hockey team, is sweet, awkward, and completely inexperienced when it comes to dating. After a disastrous first hookup leaves his confidence shattered, he turns to Mel, a senior accounting major with her emotional baggage, for help. Mel is guarded and jaded after a painful breakup with her professor ex, but agreeing to fake-date Will seems like a win-win — he gets dating practice, and she gets to fend off her creepy ex.

What I loved most about this story was Will's growth. He starts as this endearing, slightly clueless guy, but watching him gain confidence and figure out how to navigate relationships was so satisfying. Mel was the perfect balance for him — sharp, honest, and protective of her heart, but Will's sincerity and charm slowly broke down her walls. Their chemistry was palpable, and the banter between them was genuinely funny and heartwarming.

The dynamic between Will and Mel was refreshing. Instead of the typical brooding hockey player, Will was soft and open, and it was so rewarding to see Mel slowly let her guard down. Their fake relationship naturally turned into something deeper, and the emotional payoff was incredibly satisfying.

This story was sweet, funny, and emotionally satisfying — the kind of book you want to binge-read in one sitting. It had all the charm of a great college romance with a hockey twist, and I can’t wait to see where the Bainbridge Hockey series goes next. Andi Burns knocked it out of the park with this one!

Mel is done with dating. She learned her lesson when she dated the ten plus years older her than professor of Bainbridge who swore he was divorced from his wife was most definitely not divorced. She thought this guy was different, but she ignored the warnings and now she is miserable and doesn't trust herself to make any good decisions when it comes to love. What she isn't prepared for though is to be swept up by sweet Will. Will has finally escaped home with his helicopter parents and has a lot of socializing to make up for. A bit too sheltered, he plans to go out and enjoy college. While of course playing hockey and keeping up with his grades. But he soon realizes just how awkward he can be around girls and his confidence is blown to smithereens after one spectacularly failed hook up. He needs help. And lucky for him he meets Mel. Sure, their first date (set up by a friend who thought he was helping) is a disaster, but Will takes a chance and asks Mel to teach him how to date girls. And Mel, well she takes him up on it. Especially when her ex is reaching stalking levels. They'll fake a relationship and help one another out. But it's only a matter of time between the lines blur of what is fake and what is real. And I mean how can it not? Will and Mel have such chemistry! These two were so sweet and right for one another. This was such a fun story. And with so many of the other hockey players making an appearance, it seems Will and Mel aren't the only ones with stories to tell. I can't wait to find out what happens next with everyone! Looks like a great start to this series and I can't wait for the rest.

This story was a relaxed and funny read after a few heavy books and I really enjoyed it. Will is a 20 year-old freshman virgin who’s never been on a date. He’s happy to finally be in college and is confident that his love life will now flourish. Until the first girl he meets tells him he kisses like a dead jellyfish, then he gets a bit self-conscious. A teammate plays matchmaker to set Will up with Mel but their date couldn’t possibly be worse, so it does nothing to help his self-confidence. If anything, he’s in worse shape after this disaster of a first date.

Luckily for Will, Mel is sympathetic to his plight and wants to help, despite juggling problems of her own. Her biggest problem right now is her lying, cheating ex who won’t leave her alone. Mel regrets every minute she spent with him but nothing seems to get rid of him. Maybe a boyfriend would prove she’s over him and not interested? She decides it’s worth a try and proposes a fake relationship so he can hone his dating and make-out skills while she drives away the ex who doesn’t understand the word ‘no’.

This is low-angst and the banter between these two is adorable, which made it the perfect palate cleanser after a string of emotional rollercoasters. I love the characters and the way they interact. Will is sweet and slightly neurotic but completely lovable. Mel is fun and sweet and exactly what Will needs. This was my first book by the author but won’t be the last as I loved these two and their story.

Thank you to Literally Yours PR and Andi Burns for an eARC in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoyed this one. Scoring Chance is the first book in a new series by Andi Burns that revolves around the Bainbridge Hockey team. This is my first time reading this author and I really enjoyed her writing style.

Will is a freshman and a new addition to the hockey team, he's enthusiastic and eager and is super dedicated to his sport, but at 20 years old has never had a girlfriend and is completely inexperienced. His first sexual encounter at college goes completely wrong and he's mortified.

Mel is a senior and is coming to the end of her college experience and she can't wait to move on. She recently broke up with her ex who was also one of the college Professors after she caught him in bed with his wife, who he lied about being divorced from. She's set against romance and isn't interested in men at the moment.

Will and Mel are thrown together when a date won at auction forces them to endure an evening together. Their date ends up being an absolute disaster and it’s hilarious. Everything that could go wrong, did! After their disastrous date Will begs Mel to be his relationship coach and so begins their love story.

Mel has been through a lot with her ex that has jaded her, so it takes her awhile to relax. But once Will comes into her life she really starts to lighten up and smile more. Will just made me smile with his awkwardness. Will is so lovable and I felt instantly protective of this sweet and innocent hockey player, with his golden retriever type energy.

These two really complimented each other and I loved seeing their relationship naturally change and them slowly fall for each other. I want to know more from this hockey team and hope there is more to come in this series!

Scoring Chance - Bainbridge Hockey #1 - Review

Couple: Will & Mel

Author: Andi Burns

Tropes: hockey romance, sports romance, freshmen romance, innocent MMC

Review: Scoring Chance is a different take on the hockey romances we usually read. In this story, it is the MMC who is the inexperienced and sheltered character and we start the book off with a rejection that stings at his ego.

Will is a freshman hockey player that has what it takes to go all the way. While he loves hockey, he is not the typical god among men that we usually see for this trope. He is insecure and shy. This was a nice twist for me since the men in hockey romances can be one and the same.

Mel is a girl trying to get over a huge betrayal from her last relationship. While putting on a brave face, she encounters Will with her friends. She gets conned into going on a date with him after Oliver wins him in the bachelor auction at school. The date goes horribly and sets the stage for the rest of the book.

Will proposes an arrangement for them to fake date and it quickly progresses to real feelings and sticky arrangements. While both are developing feelings for each other, Mel struggles to get her ex to leave her alone. It all comes to a head when Will confronts the ex and Mel tells him to go.

This book is a great read for hockey lovers. There is heat and angst which is perfect for this couple as well as inner monologues that make us see them as people.

Rating: 8.5/10 loved the plot and story line but felt like it needed more oomf at times

Tropes:

> Virgin Hero

Please oh please can we get more of the inexperienced guy/more experienced girl trope?!? I’ve only read a couple of books where the guy was the inexperienced one in the relationship and I’m so in love with it! That is actually what caught my eye to sign up for this ARC! This was my first read by this author and most definitely will not be my last!

Will is a college freshman and hockey superstar. He knows how to score with finesse on the ice, but holy cow does he crash and burn when trying to score with the ladies!

Enter Mel. College senior, swore off dating thanks to an awful ex, and then was ultimately “gifted” a date with Will by a mutual friend. One disastrous thing leads to another and the fake dating/dating lessons plan is born!

The friendship and love that grows between these two is so genuine and endearing. I love their witty banter, Will’s naivety and one liners, watching Will’s confidence grow, the balance they bring to each other and their “lay it all on the table” approach. It’d be hard to not fall for these two!

I also absolutely fell in love with the entirety of the hockey guys! They were true teammates and hilariously amazing friends. I absolutely can’t wait to read more of these guys! (And I saw those hints for future couples in there Andi and I’m STOKED!)

Let’s keep that #hockeyera going strong! Definitely add this one to your TBR 💙

Scoring Chance is a great start of the Bainbridge Hockey Series by Author Andi Burns. Scoring Chance is a sexy, fun, full of college life drama read that made this reviewer very happy.

Mel just needs to keep her creepy ex away from her. What better way to do that then to have a sexy hot hockey player on your arm. I enjoy Mel’s feistiness and her honesty, she is her own person that’s for sure. I have been wanting to know more about this heroine. Thank you Author Andi Burns.

Will is as sweet as he is sexy. (All I can say is Damn!) Will has decided he needed to be schooled in the art of dating, but what he found is a hella-lot more than he bargained for. I could not get enough of this hero, Will is like the boy next door.

The playful banter between Will and Mel was so much fun. I couldn’t stop smiling. The heat meter between them was off the charts. Can they both keep the lines from blurring.

There are some amazing supporting character’s, I can’t wait for the next installment of the Bainbridge Hockey Series. Out of them all I am wanting Ollie’s story. Will’s family are wonderful, I enjoyed seeing cameo’s of other players from the Bainbridge University Series.

Author Andi Burns delivers yet again a H.O.T hockey romance that curled my toes, and set my heart a flutter. I highly Recommend you give her a try.

Mel is finished with men and dating. She's been burned by her former boyfriend - he told her he was divorced, basically made her the nanny to his kids, only for her to find out his wife just worked out of town a lot but they were definitely still married (and she found out in a VERY graphic way).
Will is a hockey player, but he was also somewhat sheltered, so he's a virgin and knows nothing about dating, getting or keeping a girl. Will and Mel have one really bad date, so when he begs her to do him a favor, she's surprised. But they agree to a fake relationship so she can teach him what he needs to know to go and be a great boyfriend to some other girl. Almost immediately, though, they both are more taken with each other than they are willing to admit. Since it seems like they are going in different directions, what can they do when their fake relationship turns to real love?

I loved both of these characters because they both learned and grew throughout the story. Will became more sure of himself and trusted his observations and feelings in what he was doing with Mel. Mel also learned that she could trust herself and to do the things that made her happy, not just the "right" things. A great first book for this series that looks like it's a spinoff, so I'll have to go and read about the other students of Bainbridge.

It took me a bit to warm up to Mel. She's been through a lot with her ex that has jaded her, but once Will comes into her life she really starts to lighten up and smile more. Together these two really shined. Will made me laugh with his awkwardness. He was so eager to please!

These two really complimented each other and I loved seeing them slowly fall for each other. I'm really intrigued by the side characters and their own love stories. I want to know more from this hockey team and hope there is more to come in this series!

🏒Scoring Chance🏒

Rating: ⭐️ 4/5

Mel & Will

A story like I have never read before. Freshman Will is determined to reach his goals. Playing Hockey and losing his V-Card.

Mel only wants to get over her last month of College until she can leave this town. A badly ended and forbidden relationship helped her decision.

At a charity event Will and Mel accidentally partnered up. What at first seemed ridiculous, turns out to be a chance for both to achieve their goals.

Not having others at your back and learning about dating etc. Slowly that, of course, turns into more and when both try to find their way through their slight mess, fate has a piece or two in the sack.

Can Will and Mel overcome the chaos they are in or is their story over?

I really felt for poor Will, growing up the way he did, and being clueless about women and life, he sometimes was too eager.

Mel was most of the time stuck in her head that she couldn’t really let loose. She had her friends and all, but trusting now was hard for her.

The end was very good the way she stood up for Will and could accept and embrace her feelings.

Scoring Chance is an easy, fun read with a great cast of characters and an exciting start to a new college hockey series! This was my first book by the author and I really enjoyed her style of writing.

Will and Mel are perfect together, and even though they are young and most of the time I felt they acted their age, they handled their relationship very maturely. Will is so lovable and I felt instantly protective of this sweet and innocent hockey player, with his golden retriever type energy. Luckily, he was in great hands (in more ways than one) with the slightly older Mel. I loved the twist on the fake relationship trope with Mel “tutoring” Will on being a boyfriend! The only problem I had with Will was his continuous reference of a 34 year old being "middle-aged" but maybe that is how a 20 year old would actually feel 🤣

I did wish for more of an epilogue (it does mention a bonus one but I haven't received it yet) to get the complete HEA feeling, and I do feel like there were a few loose ends (the hockey house and what happened to Mel's ex), but it's possible that they will be wrapped up in future books. This is a light read with a good amount of hockey, and I can't wait to see who the next book is about!

Freshman meets Senior with explosive consequences in the first book in Andi Burns's new hockey series, Freshman Will loves his parent's dearly but is glad now to put as much distance as he can from them so he can let loose at 20, and do all the things he has missed and that includes learning how to date girls, being in a house full of confident guys Will knows he has his work cut out for him, enter Senior Mel, who has just come out of a relationship with an older professor, relationships are of the cards for her, but she can't seem to say no to Will, there is just something about him that is pulling her toward's him and she cannot deny the heat and chemistry that is building whenever she is around him, so she is more than happy to help Will with his little problem, three dates, help his confidence, walk away, easy right?.

This hockey team have already found a place in my heart, I love these guys so much and, Andi Burns introduced them and Eden's friends wonderfully to start the series just right.

Andi's back with book one in the Bainbridge Hockey series which is Will and Mel's story.

Will is new to the team, a seriously phenomenal player, Handsome with a capital H, funny, playful and an all-round good guy, but when it comes to dating - he misses the net, big time hence being a 20year old v1rgin.

Then we have Mel who is graduating soon, numbers is her thing and she has her lifeplan sorted - graduate and leave Bainbridge to go to DC where her bestie Ian is (we met him and his husband in Undeniable, book 4 in The Bainbridge University series.)
However, after an extremely messy break up last year where she found her boyfriend in bed with his wife 😬 she's being having a tough time

Cue the setup! Then the messy date and then a fake relationship!

It's fun, it's flirty, it's cute and it's spicy! I love these two, they're very likeable characters who have great chemistry.
Andi's very good at setting the scenes, having characters who interest you and writing a storyline that keeps you intrigued and as always, I'm excited for more!!

I just loved loved loved Scoring Chance so freaking much , not to mention both Mel and Wills characters were just absolutely perfect for one another . Their journey was so much fun especially since I tend to me someone who reads a lot of dark romance and it’s not often I get to pick up a story that has me smiling pretty much the whole way through. That makes me laugh or has me crying one second and rooting so hard the next . I’m such a sucker for a great sports romance with all the feels and Scoring Chance was easily one of the best I’ve read in a very long time . It’s filled with angst , humor , heartbreaking and heartfelt moments, love , passion , second chances , witty banter , family , friendships, obstacles, two characters you simply cannot stop yourself from falling in love with and journey that will grab onto all your emotions so fast and pull at your heartstrings in ways you definitely will not be expecting. In short , it’s a emotional rollercoaster that’s unforgettable, unputdownable and a must read

I found I quite enjoyed reading Andi Burn's newest series, Bainbridge Hockey's first book Scoring Chance. I thought it was a good new adult, sports romance with some fake dating and dating coaching thrown in.
When the book opens you immediately get a sense of both of the characters. Mel is suffering from not being able to trust herself after being tricked by her ex. Will on the other hand feels like he's unlovable because until very recently he felt like he was ugly. He was heavier, had acne, and bad teeth, and now all of that has changed and he's on his own in college he wanted to finally have a girlfriend. But after a disastrous blind date between Mel and Will they decide to start fake dating. Both have their motives for fake dating, Mel NEEDS her ex to leave her alone so she has him be her fake boyfriend, and Will feels he needs a dating coach to teach him how to be around women. But the more time they spend together the more they get real feelings beyond lust.

Scoring Chance by Andi Burns
🏒🏒🏒🏒
4/5

I received this from Literally Yours PR in exchange for my honest opinion.

Will is a Freshman at Bainbridge University, and no longer the ugly duckling he used to be. I hit a growth spurt, as well as had my awful teeth knocked out and replaced.

Mel has sworn of dating, after the professor, 10 years her senior, who swore he was divorced, and was definitely not divorced. She thought he was different, and ignored all the red flags in hopes of her happy ending.

Will and Mel get setup on a date, which ends up being an utter disaster. Will however gets the courage to ask Mel if she’ll help him learn how to date.

This was such a fun, cute, funny, and swoon worthy story.

Tropes
- fake dating
- Sport’s romance (hockey)
- Sweet and swoon worthy moments
- Opposites attract

Will is looking forward to his freshman year of college and the chance to break out of his shell. If only he had the confidence. Meanwhile, Mel is trying to keep her head down and graduate early so she can leave college - and her bad choices - behind. If only her ex wasn't bothering her. After a mutual friend wins Mel a date with Will at a bachelor auction, the realize that the other just might be the solution to their problem.

I ate this book up. Will is the earnest, eager hero I needed. He is the perfect mix of adorable and clueless; a little sweeter than your average himbo, but definitely himbo-adjacent. I'm quickly learning that sweet heroes are Andi Burns' signature. And the way he stood up for her when everything went down with her ex....ooph, yes. So good.

This is a read that did pull me in and kept me involved. It did take a short bit to warm up to Will. He first came off as a little immature but once you got into his life, things started falling into place better. He's been focused completely on hockey and now that he's in college, things are changing, the world is opening up for him. I loved Mel, she's full of fire, determined, and really focused. These two may have had a bump at the beginning but their story is a journey, learning, and enjoying life. There are moments that kept me on my toes and kept those pages turning. I really liked the other characters as well and will be checking out other reads by this author!

I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

New beginnings

Will- freshman hockey player, is super nervous around females, very sheltered and very hockey orientated.
Mel- soon to finish college, works at Drip coffee shop, is coming out of a bad/ forbidden relationship with a professor who ends up stalking her.
After Mel's friend Ollie sets these two up a disastrous date follows. I couldn't stop laughing although I felt sorry for Will. Will begs Mel to help him find his way through the dating world and they end up falling for one another. It's not all plain sailing but these two are amazing together and this book is a total must read.

This is the first in a new series and this is Will and Mel’s journey. Will is a freshman, and the newest centre hockey player, who is determined to enjoy the whole college experience, but needs to get rid of one pesky problem first. Mel has sworn off relationships, after catching her cheating ex. When Mel’s friends buy her a date for her at a bachelor auction, she is not happy, but maybe she and Will can help each other out. This is a well written story which had friendships, opposite attracts, humor, witty banter, emotions, regrets, and love, which leads to an entertaining sports romance.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Scoring Chance by Andi Burns!

Love me some hockey romance so was excited to start this book. Then the author threw in fake dating and I was completely sold. This was great story of two souls trying to find their way. Both struggling in their own way. Mel is struggling to trust herself after the situation with her ex. As for Will he is struggling in his own skin. After years of feeling unlovable and unattractive things have changed for him and he is struggling. So after a not so great date they come up with the plan to fake date. What can go wrong right. This was a great book to read and I couldn’t recommend it enough.

This is the first book in the Bainbridge Hockey series! Will's transformation from an awkward teen to a confident man was endearing. His quest to lose his virginity before hitting the big leagues led to hilarious dating lessons. Mel, a senior jaded by a deceitful relationship, was refreshingly honest. Their unexpected pairing and fake dating adventures were both sweet and sexy. I adored Will's awkward charm and Mel's straightforwardness. The book's fresh take on the new adult genre, with its virgin hero and college romance, was captivating. I couldn't put it down and eagerly anticipate the following books in the series!
