The Queen ants are typically bigger. Although many ants do live underground within the colony, some do not. Some ants will live in dead wood or wooden walls on different buildings.

Solid early science nonfiction reader. Lots of fav TSS about ants, my preschooler found it very interesting. He’s now always on the hunt for red ants because he doesn’t want to be stung by them.
