Piper didn’t see it coming. Jonathan didn’t see it coming. No one saw it coming.
All Piper ever wanted was to get married. She meets Jonathan, and it’s love at first sight for both. After a whirlwind engagement, the wedding day has finally arrived. There’s still so much to learn about each other, but Piper is fine with letting the puzzle pieces fall into place as time goes on. After all, they’re in love and isn’t that all that really matters? Wrong. What they discover is so devastating, even Cupid considers using his arrow to shoot himself.
Hilariously funny from start to finish.
No explicit sex scenes, but the author keeps you turning pages with humor, plot, and romance. No harsh language.
You will find yourself laughing out loud the Rose provided each character with charisma and charm that strangers will be looking to try and figure out what you’re laughing for.
I'll admit, I am usually pretty skeptical about rom-coms due to them not being something I read a lot of. BUT, this was comical. I really couldn't stop laughing out loud at this book. It's well written and flows together. Great book for a pick me up or even a pallet cleanser. Complete opposites. We start off with the pastor from The Church of Planetary Unification 🤣 We have our bride, Piper, who is a defense attorney. She has an insanely eccentric family. Hippy even. And she does everything she can to defend her family because 1) it's her family. 2) she's used to the chaos. Then we have the groom, Johnathan. He's a financial advisor and is so serious and needs structure that it's borderline insane. Once Piper's Mom shows up to the wedding rehearsal, that's all she wrote! The hilarious craziness starts and it literally doesn't end. All the adventures from somehow Piper's mother and Johnathan's father knowing each other from their pasts, Piper's crazy wedding guests, Johnathan taking a work meeting before their wedding, and so much more in between. Even the descriptions of everything are comical.
In a normal wedding the bride can expect one or two things to go wrong. Piper’s romantic beach wedding weekend begins to crumble in the worst way. Between unexpected sparks between their parents, weird uninvited guests, an overbearing employer, and an unscheduled rainstorm it seems nothing is going right. Kammie Rose’s brilliant twists and turns keep the reader guessing what fiasco is going to sabotage the nuptials next! After a whirlwind romance and a brief engagement, there's a lot Piper doesn't know about Jonathan, and he has a lot to learn about her. And her family of surprises! Every chapter left me rooting for poor Piper, hoping that she would eventually be able to tie the knot. And if Jonathan would stick by her through all the drama, then he’s a keeper and she should hang onto him! I’ll have to give the author points for creativity for dreaming up this comedy of errors. The Problem With Love At First Sight will especially appeal to readers who enjoy rom com adventures like My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
This one surprised me. The setup alone is comedy gold: the bride’s mother realizing she once dated the groom’s father just days before the wedding. From there the story spirals into exactly the kind of awkward, escalating chaos that good romantic comedies need. What makes the book work is that it stays light and genuinely funny without relying on crude humor or explicit scenes. The situations are ridiculous, but they feel believable enough to keep the pages turning. Piper’s reactions to everything unraveling around her are especially entertaining. If you want a fast, clean romantic comedy that actually delivers laughs instead of just calling itself funny, this is a good pick.
This rom-com plays with the idea that love at first sight is never as simple as it sounds, throwing the characters into awkward moments, misunderstandings, and sweet surprises. Readers get a light, funny story about attraction, timing, and what really makes people click. Great if you want something feel-good with humor and just enough chaos to keep you turning pages.
This is such a cute story. It will leave you in stitches. Just when you think you can’t possibly laugh anymore..... wham she writes another crazy thing that you can’t help but find the humor in. This is a page turner with a sweet ending. All the characters are charming. Loved the wacky mother... grab it and read you won’t be disappointed.
Read this along with Book 2, My What-If Girl. Both were fast reads.
Cute and easy to read, with that soft romance feeling that makes you want to keep turning pages. Some moments felt predictable, but in a comforting way. It’s sweet without trying too hard, and I liked the emotional simplicity of it.
Piper’s wedding is happening too fast for everything to go smoothly. And of course nothing will. Very light, humorous and entertaining read for anyone who enjoys romantic comedy.
This was such a delectable read and a page turner. If you are looking for a light rom-com this is it. I read it in one sitting. It's full of ridiculous situations that will make you cringe or laugh out loud but the ending is satisfying.
I loved this rom-com. The banter was great and had me laughing out loud. As did the series of events. It’s super cute, light, and got me through a couple snow days. I’d highly recommend.
The title gave this book away. It was clear from the near the beginning of the book that things were going to go wrong in this funny rom-com. It is definitely some light relief and switch off reading - perfect to load up onto your kindle for a flight or for a summer holiday.
