The Snow Killer
A family is gunned down in the snow but one of the children survives. Three years on, that child takes revenge and the Snow Killer is born. But then the case goes cold.
Fifty years later, as murder follows murder, the detective team tasked with solving the crimes struggle with the lack of leads. It’s a race against time and the weather – each time it snows another person dies.
As an exhausted and grizzled DI Barton and his team scrabble to put the pieces of the puzzle together, the killer is hiding in plain sight. Meanwhile, the murders continue…

The Soul Killer
DI Barton investigates the tragedies that have shattered a family’s lives, and when the remains of a body are found, everything points to one suspect.
Barton and his team move quickly, and once the killer is behind bars, they can all breathe a sigh of relief. But death still lurks in the shadows, and no one's soul is safe. Not even those of the detectives…

The Ice Killer
Ellen Toole's therapist told her to forget the past, but with her family story shrouded in secrecy, that’s easier said than done. But Ellen must find answers about the past if she has any hope for a future.
Meanwhile DI Barton and his team hear reports of a kidnapping, followed by the discovery of two dead bodies. There’s a murderer on the loose, and the killer needs to be stopped before they strike again.
But how can Barton find the truth when all the victims and witnesses are dead?

I was born in 1973 in Peterborough and lived there until I was 20, attending The King's School in the city. I then began a rather nomadic existence, living and working all over the country and various parts of the world.

I found myself returning to Peterborough many times over the years, usually when things had gone wrong. It was on one of these occasions that I met my partner about 100 metres from my back door whilst walking a dog. Two children swiftly followed. I'm still a little stunned by the pace of it now.

Fifty Years of Fear book was started a long time ago but parenthood and then after working in sales management all my life, i randomly spent four years as a prison officer. Ironically it was the four a.m. feed which gave me the opportunity to finish the book as unable to get back to sleep I completed it in the early morning hours.

I've now written five further books. My second book, The Boy Inside, was picked up by a publisher, and Lazy Blood is also out. All my books are thought provoking, and told with a sense of humour. Reading the reviews has been great.

The first three books are stand alone, however, some of the characters cross over, and you can see how at times, their lives overlap.

Abel's Revenge is something a bit different. It's a modern day love story set against the backdrop of an escalating serial killer. There's a whodunnit element to it, and some smiles along the way.

Shadows of Regret was inspired by my time on the women's side of the jail in Peterborough, and analyses the close relationship between victim and villain. You won't have read a book like it.

I hope you enjoy reading them.

The DI Barton Series by Ross Greenwood proved to be a gripping blend of police procedural precision and suspenseful mysteries. Across the series Mr. Greenwood crafts thrilling stories that are just as much about the crimes as they are about the people affected by them.
What sets this series apart is DI John Barton himself. He’s not the stereotypical hard-boiled detective - instead, he’s a grounded, empathetic, and relatable figure juggling the pressures of police work with the demands of family life. This balance gives the series warmth and authenticity that makes me care about the characters just as much as the cases.
The plots are cleverly constructed, often weaving multiple threads that converge in satisfying, sometimes surprising ways. Mr. Greenwood doesn’t shy away from exploring darker themes - murder, trauma, and moral ambiguity (to name a few) - but he handles them with sensitivity, avoiding overly gratuitous detail while still delivering all the tension and emotional impact you could want.
Each book can stand on its own, but reading them in sequential order rewards you with a richer understanding of DI Barton’s personal journey and the evolving dynamics within his team.
It’s a series that keeps you turning pages while also making you care which I think is a rare and satisfying combination.
Happy Reading…

Listening to these, I quite like the involved plots, and most characterisations. Unfotunately by book 4 I find it is the same as most current authors: they get their cheap jokes by belittling the 'hero' and annoying me, with the disrespectful females and children of the modern day.
Women never do anything wrong [hah] they just have to be adulated. [No joke]
Shame.
And some rather weak writing to keep the story going a certain way, and avoid sensible behaviour.
