After her twelfth birthday, Adelheid von Vuldar, must take the next step for her ascension to the throne, the Reginnaglar Ceremony. For generations, members of the imperial family have tested their mettle in dungeons to prove their abilities, and now, it's Adelheid's turn. Leading her fledging band of knights, Adelheid must delve deep into the Byrgir Dungeon and shorten her distance to the throne.
But as Adelheid soon discovers, monsters are far from the worst dangers within the dungeon.
Overall, this was a great book. Excellent story excellent character advancement some surprises. I did not expect everything you could ask for. So someone asked why did I give this book 4.25 when I gave the first book a 5.0. That’s tough to answer to be honest. You have to read this book to understand. The first book in the series was very tightly written for lack of a better word. The words flowed well together. I could understand the story I saw where things are going, I knew where certain, Ask had come from. I could easily make sense of everything. This book hear the writing sometimes seems to get ahead of itself. It seems to be a little loose again for lack of a better word. If you’ve ever read a book that had to be translated from South Korean to American in this genre, sometimes you run into issues where the words don’t quite match up it’s not that bad here, but there are instances where I think the author gets a little bit ahead of himself. Going a little too fast without explaining everything. I’ll give you an example. It’s not really a spoiler. She has a fight with her dad this book. They don’t speak or at least it appears they’re not speaking I don’t know. Why? It’s a simple answer, but it’s not easily explained you find out later in the book easily, but it should not have taken that long because the author expected you to catch what was wrong early on. You just don’t because it’s Poorly Written. I don’t want to say poorly, but it’s not well written. Now overall great book man is it good? I can’t wait for the next. However, like I said, there are just instances where I wish maybe some more editing has been done to tighten things up.
Now message to the author spoilers below
I always write a note to the author, especially for books that I really like. First this was a great book. My only issue was it did appear that may be some more editing could’ve been done. It just seems to be very fast paced with the writing, and sometimes ideas got ahead of themselves. My example of her and her father fighting but initially I said I must’ve missed something. Maybe I skipped it reading too fast. Why was she mad at him? Why wasn’t she speaking to him? It was not a major secret that he left her hanging at the end of the last book. The thing is, it wasn’t explained early in this book that that was why she was mad at him. You’ll find out later when it all suddenly makes sense but it could’ve been handled better. I get a lot of little instances of that in this book. That was not present in the first book. No I do have one other issue and I don’t think it’s something fixable. It’s to do with progression. First, I love how she grows as a character the blood thing. Awesome. I hope you expand on that. The issue though is how are other characters going to honestly grow. In a traditional progressive or LRTRPG novel you kill something you get stronger you get new items you get stronger here. It takes a progressive amount of time for someone to get stronger. It takes years to get stronger. Sort of like a roadblock being put in place now. Preventing great characters from developing great strength. It’s not that they don’t have the potential it’s that it’s going to take forever. I hope that makes sense at least. It says if their ability to develop and grow stronger is held back by a factor of time. Instead of oh, I can’t wait for them to get stronger in the next few years. It’s like ugh it’s going to take several years for them to get stronger. It seems to hold the character development back. I did like the daft in the book. I do hope we get to see more of her, using her talents from earth to change things here to really flip over the board if you will.
So here we are in book 2 and I couldn’t be more happy with it! Adelheid has had 1 goal since she was reincarnated in this world and that is to become Empress. In book 1 her father left her die when a monster attacked and she hasn’t forgiven him yet. He’s trying to rekindle that relationship in his own weird way and it causes some interesting plot points. Adelheid has decided to take over the empire using food and she started an budding food empire, one that has snakes and sharks gunning for her. There are assassination attempts, tournaments to determine her knights, dungeon diving, more food creations, and a good ol monster invasion. In essence everything you could ever want in a follow up book. I loved the world building, and the character development of the side characters. I would have like more inner thoughts of Adelheid but the book was still 5 stars. I’ll be Sitting on pins and needles u til book 3.
Overall, I’m well sold on the series. I liked the combination of characteristics of the main character to begin with, from the first book. I’m also admittedly a huge fan of the anime series: “Saga of Tanya the Evil”. Similar character archetypes and all, but with more isekai fantasy culinary mogul tropes.
This sequel lives up as a satisfying progression of Adelheid’s character growth and power scaling. I honestly can’t wait to see her go all Baba Yaga/ John Wick on the main antagonists asses soon because they totally SPOILER ALERT: killed Adelheids favorite puppy.
I personally don’t mind that it got all the dungeon diving stuff done this time around. There’s some pretty interesting setup up for the third book. I do hope that some themes about adelheids own humanity is more thoroughly explored, although preferably not at the cost of preventing real evil assholes from getting exactly what they deserve.
Has sequels go this one added more intrigue and maybe its just me I think some confusion is thrown in there had well. The story went along for the most part has I expected however surprises kept showing up making me go down the rabbit hole trying to figure out if I missed some or if this author is setting me up for a greater reveal. Turns out it doesn't matter because I couldn't put this book down until I finished it. I'm not only pleased with this story I am super impressed with the authors imagination, this series has me reeling due to all the different plots, character, and secrets yet to be disclosed and those that have. OK on to the next one. Get this one and sit down and emerged yourself in more enjoyable hours worth of fun.
Personally, I found the newest addition to the series to be highly enjoyable, and well worth the time to read. There were times that the story felt a bit slow, or that I wished her strength was increasing faster, but those are more idle thoughts than true complaints. There are definitely darker tones to the story as well, not overly depressive, but very real dangers within the story that take the lives of even characters you might like. Even times that even I got misty eyed due to what happened in the story. As long as you take that into account, this is undoubtably, well worth the read.
The emphasis this series puts on food is enough to make me ravenous just reading it. The attitude Addie gives her father confused me, but then I realized it's because of the events during their hunting trip. It was not specified until Matilda made a comment well into the book. Given some discoveries Addie makes, I'm not sure there is a current government in her world that I hope she destroys. The Ritters kind of broke my heart. I love how powerful Adel is becoming, and I am honestly hoping for some sort of powerful growth based on the potentials mentioned. I really hope to read a lot more from this series.
Adelheid builds her honey empire, goes to an adventurer city, survives multiple assassination attempts, duels the most powerful knight in the kingdom, delves into a dungeon and fights a war. Somehow her business venture is the most interesting and that is superficial and boring.
Like everyone else in the world, the assassins are incompetent and do nothing more interesting than a frontal assault. The dungeon is the most boring version of a dungeon ever written about. Nothing is well thought out or presented well. But if you like reading about giggling girls eating food, then I guess this is the book for you.
Princess Adelheid is a beautiful enigma. Her body is that of a12 year old girl, yet her presence is that of an adult royal. Her charisma causes people to follow her and do as she bids. Her mission is to complete the imperial rite of passage to be recognized as an adult and cement her position in the line of succession for the throne. Her immediate followers become a close knit group as they fight and survive assasins and monsters. I like the action, humor, and intrigue. I look forward to the next book.
The plot thickens! Or maybe it just got heavier. There were actually a lot of questions answered in this book, but the answers just raised more questions like; "Well shit! How are they gonna survive that?" And "Ohh, just like I suspected... But I still don't know what his goals are..." And I still can't say who is actually evil or not.
I'm really enjoying this series. I love the MC and her interactions with the world around her. Her unique outlook is pitch perfect, while the reactions of the other characters to her are at hilarious and sad. Yeah, got hit with a dose of the feels in this one. Looking forward to the next.
Things heat up in the race for succession as Adelheid gathers her retinue, solidifies her business, and fends off assassination attempts. This volume features a lot more action than the previous one, as well as giving a lot more insight into Adelheid's peculiar constitution. There's still just as much cooking, so prepare to be hungry.
The grammar could use some work, but overall this is just a fun story. The focus on one major event really lets you get into the details and enjoy the character work.
The story wasn’t good at foreshadowing future events has i could see where everything was going the only thing that got me interesting in see what happens next is the conversation in the graveyard but I don’t really have high hopes.
I have really enjoyed this series so far, the plot is fantastic and it really sucks you in, the underlying intrigue is something forcing you to want to know more and the characters are awesome cant wait for the next one
Overall, I would highly recommend "The Reginnaglar Ceremony" to fans of isekai novels. It has engaging characters, thrilling action, and a dash of good cooking to make it a well-rounded and satisfying read. .
The book continues the build up of the story with a few twists. I enjoyed the style of writing the only issue was a bit flat in emotional style but I just think that would be due to the MC. Looking forward to the next book.
I'm so so curious about where this series is going, there are so !an moving elements going on, the mysterious person who challenges the gods, the masked troupe, the homunculi, what happened to Addies mother? I guess we'll have to wait and see.
It was really hard to put this title down in any way. I very much look forward to the release of book three and anything else this author publishes in the future
I really enjoyed the second book. I am looking forward to the next book. I love the characters and the world this story takes place in. Keep up the great work.
