Jonathan is a curious little boy who, one day, discovers a man living in a tree. He is determined to find answers as to why this might be. His need to understand keeps him returning year after year, hoping this time things may become clear. Eventually, Jonathan receives his answer but doesn’t understand, until his time comes to sit up high in the tree beside the man.
On the surface The Forever Tree is a story about a young boy Jonathan finding a man in a tree and returning throughout his life to ask why, never fully being satisfied that his question is being answered. The underlayer of the story is about our curiosity throughout life about what happens once we pass. This short children’s story is a light touch on loss and bereavement that is uncomplicated and relatable in a way that will allow children to start a conversation in their own time about their curiosity and understanding of what happens afterlife. A story to be enjoyed by all ages with different layers for each age group to discover.
