Hero Checklist for a long and happy life Dannen Ateran had never gone so far as to write the list out, but he knew it by heart. He ought to, as he had been telling it to himself for years and himself--fool that he was--had been ignoring it for just as long. So it was that he found himself standing beside Fedder, Mariana, and Tesler, watching as an undead dragon soared toward them. And if, by some feat of magic or luck--with undead dragons, skill rarely factored into it--they survived, there was only the little issue of a master swordsman and his necromancer brother to worry about, not to mention an undead horde. Plenty of ways to die, then, if a man liked a little variety with his suffering. And the week was just getting started.
I hope I don’t have to wait too long for book three cause damn, this is good. These characters are brilliant and well written. They each have their own personalities and challenges. I love the God, Perandius and hope to see more of him in the next. 5 stars.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It delivered on everything that was good about book 1 and added to it by seriously developing all 4 main characters and the relationships between those characters. By the time the climax rolled around for this story, I was very invested in our little band of anti-heroes and loved where this story took us.
I'm also impressed that all 4 characters got chance to play a big roll in the climax, each delivering exactly what was needed in the way that only they could. Without any one of them the battle would be lost and it was a great reward to see each of these characters get their moment to shine.
I finished this novel with a big smile on my face and I am hoping that this isn't the end for this little group/family as I would thoroughly enjoy more adventures with them.
The dialogue and characterisation are well above average. The overall plot arc is a little anticlimactic, but the strength of the story lies in its episodes and sub -plots. That's really my only criticism of this series: it's more a series of interconnected short stories tied together in novel form. Those integral parts, however, are more than enough to sustain interest, and the quest partners have more depth and novelty about them than is usual in this genre. I read volumes 1 and 2 at a sitting and enjoyed them thoroughly.
arc A great continuation to the first book. I adore this group of Antiheroes. Their bond grows, even though Fedder, Mariana, Telser and the squirell are getting on Dannen's nerves. Again, the humor and sarcasm is in the forefront, which I appreciate. Off to continue their quest to kill the necromancer and his sword wielding brother, they will have to deal with a few more obstacles in order to get there. An exciting, adventurous journey that has some serious tones to it and some surprises in there too.
Still not my preferred style, but when I start a series I do my best to stick to it. And considering its well written, and the plot isn't terrible, it isnt hard to do. I still stand by that this is basically a DND campaign. Especially compared to the first one. It feels a bit more disjointed is places. But again, im also not particularly familiar with this genre. and it did pleasantly kill a few hours of my time.
A great fantasy hero sword play story. Dannen Ateran is a heroe that has had enough and is tired. An evil necromancer and his brother are taking over the world and Dannen and his friends are taking on the challenge. Awesome cast of characters, non stop action and a very well written story line will keep you wanting more !
Jacob Peppers understands comrades in arms. You may hate the bastard in the bunk next to you but, you will kick anyone's ass who tries to hurt them, because he's your bastard and would do the same for you. A friend in need is a friend indeed. Fedder is bigger than life, and quite a character. More please!
I really enjoyed this and the previous book. The writing style suited me and the story and characters where excellent. So funny I laughed on so many occasions my wife got fed up with me. Especially at night when she was sleeping and I was reading I to the night.
Loved the second installment of the antiheroes. Once started, it was hard to put the book down, curious to know what happens in the next page. Glad to know that this isn't the last one. Anxiously waiting for the next.
Self deprecating heros. Mages that think magic is for sissy's. The book will have you laughing all the way through. Well played Mr. Pepper's. Looking forward to more of this story line
I really love this series I laughed out loud a time or two and thoroughly enjoyed every word I can’t wait to dig in to the next book!!! Please do yourself a favor and give this series a go you will not be disappointed!!
I wouldn’t call the characters ANTIheroes - perhaps reluctant is a better word. It’s a story of people who are better than they think, braver than they think, and more powerful than they know.
How can a story so unreal feel so real? The . . . lead players - I just can't call them heroes - are unlikely, the story fantasy with elements of reality, non stop action spiced with humor.
Sequel to the "Antiheroes" continues the quest of the rag-tag band of flawed adventurers. Lots of laugh out loud moments, lots of violence and lots of philosophical musings, in faux epic, comic fantasy.
This was fun to read. Epic battle with quite a few plot turns. I won't say twists because they weren't, the author just explored a few less traveled roads.
This book is a great second part of this duology. It has everything you could want in a fantasy book, humor, high stakes, stupid quips. I really enjoyed it.
Don't feed the trolls, picks up right after book 1, with our "hero's" about to be killed by the Duke. Follow them as they blunder fight an undead dragon and make their way north.
