Not the same as my other books. (Note the green cover)
Liam Abbott has just turned eighteen and alone for the first time in his life. Since he was a child, he had lived in the system, moving from foster home to foster home. He's struggling to live with his demons when agents from the Department of Child Safety, Youth and Women knock on his door with news that he's been identified as the father of a newborn whose mother died of an overdose. This is the fourth chapter in his story and the story of his daughter, Liberty Joy Williams.
There are discussions of drugs, verbal, physical and sexual abuse, and suicide in the story but the reality is that this is what many who go through the 'system' have to deal with.
This is only 25,000 words. That's about 100 kindle pages.
I really enjoy these books, they are just so easy to read. Unfortunately they are also very short and I have just read books 7 and 8 in less than a couple of hours.
Love this series. Its different, fairly well written with few errors and a great story with memorable characters. Devoured the entire series in a couple of days. Hence the 4 instead of 5 rating. I make a practice of not reading short stories but I slipped and missed the first book was only 64 pages. The remaining books were a little less than 100 pages. I was hooked after reading book 1 so HAD to purchase the remainder and wound up spending a little less than $24 to read about 750 pages. While Mr Stand may not be the greatest author ever he is certainly a financial genius publishing 2 books of content in 8 installments. I will probably read more if the series (hooked, you know!) But will not pick up more of this mans books if this is how he publishes and prices his books.
