My Thoughts

Phage, short for Bacteriophage according to Wikipedia is"a virus that infects and replicates within bacteria and archaea."

The words application in this instance means a symbiotic being that attaches itself to a host, humans in the story, infecting them while using ones greatest fear or greatest desire as a way to achieve control and gain power.

The quest for power is an age old reason for humankind to perform atrocities on each other.

However, what if the perpetrator is not human but something controlling the human as it infects/takes over?

In the authors own words ”two ordinary Newport teachers and a self-confessed loser have the weight of defeating the parasite from achieving it’s ultimate goal.

The journey of how Sam Weston, John Grote and Moira McKnight accomplish this goal is one that played out slowly for me as it unfolded because had to stop frequently to digest what I had already read.

During their journey many horrific elements are brought into play which are best described as not to be read before turning off the lights!

Quite simply the book is a blending of fact based fiction and horror, conjecture and logic, fantasy and science that created this story that both fascinates as well as repulses it’s reader.
