Devil's Dolls #2

The Silent Watcher: A Suspenseful Vigilante Justice Thriller Short Story

Rate this book
The perfect crime doesn’t exist. Or so she thought.
When K's mission lands her in the perfect Midwestern setting where a laid-back population enjoys a slow life, she knows something is off. What use is an agent like her in a place where crime virtually doesn’t exist?

But after she meets this town's kids, K understands why her boss never makes mistakes. The children in this town are terrified of someone they refuse to name. They are hiding something, and K needs to find out what fast.

The police soon shut her down, proving that whatever the precinct is hiding, they have ensured it remains hidden. And once K decides to put her newly acquired skills into use and hack into the precinct's website, the discovery shocks her to her core.

Whoever has the people of this town in a death hold has installed cameras in the homes and uses them to extort sexual and monetary favors.

Despite the people's unwillingness to cooperate and evidence of police misconduct sprouting everywhere, K feels that she's getting closer to the source. Cracking the case is so close she can almost taste it.

Except that can only mean one K is walking right into a trap, and this time there is nothing she can do to escape.

In book #2 of the Devil's Dolls series, K is sent to a quiet little town , or so it seems. After a run in with 3 mischievous young boys, K has a hint that what appears to be an idyllic example of small town America just may have a very rotten center. After all, she is sent here for a reason. What an exciting entry into the series. We are not exactly sure what K is and what she is really capable of and I'm looking forward to slowly finding out.
I received a free advance reader's copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion of the tale.

The Silent Watcher, Book 2 in the Devil’s Dolls Series, is another spellbinder episode in the episodic thriller series. Like all the episodes in this series, The Silent Watcher has a plot and storyline that Baker brings to a satisfying conclusion as the episode ends. But the overarching plot and storyline of the mysterious K continue from episode to episode. As I have said before in my reviews of the other books in this series, they can be read in any order and enjoyed because each is a complete adventure on its own. Nevertheless, these books build on the books that preceded them. They are all cliffhangers. Each episode ends with an overarching plot cliffhanger. To enjoy the series, you need to read all the episodes, beginning with the two prequels, The Devil’s Origins and Vengeance In Black, followed by The Devil’s Dollmaker, Book 1 in the series. So, if you haven’t already read The Devil’s Origins, Vengeance In Black, and The Devil’s Dollmaker, I urge you to hop on over to your favorite book site and download and read them before reading this episode. You’ll be glad that you did.

Devil's Dolls Series:
A book broken into pieces, each a cliffhanger, each quickly read since about six - ten chapters each. Interesting story lines with gore and action, but simplistic in nature. Entertaining no-brainer with no vulgar language and some silly dialog. K is likeable.
The Devil's Origin, prequel pt. 1 - Interesting introduction about K's start. 4*
Vengeance in Black, prequel pt. 2 - How K meets Lisa. 3*
The Devil's Dollmaker (1) - Interesting but reminds me of a Horror movie I saw in the late Sixties, but much worse. Gory but not graphic to extremes, just enough for visualization. 4*
The Silent Watcher (2) - Good vengeance, simplistic but effective. Intriguing side story fully in the works. 4*
Trail of Blood (3) - Goodness, the amount of depravity that exists in this section. 4*
The Devil's Tale (4) - Good mix of Cozy and simplistic rushing to finish this section. 3*
The Devil's Reckoning (5) -
The Devil's Blood (6) -
Devil's Dolls Series end.

K's mission lands her in a laid back place where crime didn’t exist. But once she meets some kids she finds out that they are terrified of someone who they refuse to name. They are hiding something and she needs to find out what it is fast. The police in the precinct are hiding something and when K decides to use her skills to hack into the precincts Web site she is shocked by what she learns. Who ever has the town in a death hold has installed cameras in the homes and used them to extort sexual and monetary favours. Despite not having any help from the police or people she knows that she is getting close to the truth. But this bring danger to her too. A very chilling read. I received this book free and leave a honest review. It is fast pace and full of action. I recommend this book to other readers.

This book is a great follow on from the first book 📖
In this instalment K goes to a really creepy town where justice is something of an oddity.
That is until K shows up and does her thing.
William writes really well and keeps you gripped with his characters that you get behind and want the best for. Even K whoever she is, because she is still a mystery.
The ending has you reaching for the next book automatically because it's so intriguing and cryptic.
I'm loving this series so far and the fact that each book so far has been about a different assignment for K.

K is Scary

K just got another mission but doesn't yet know the details. She rarely does until she gets there.
Another little town where everyone seems afraid of the cops.
But now K is the alpha predator and she's angry.

Another crazy adventure of K bringing Justice to a town that has none.
Really want to know what K actually is...
I recommend this series for anyone who likes action and mystery!

Short Story, right to the point

William Baker knows how to deliver a complex plot with new characters and bring it all to an epic close in a short amount of time. The Devil's Dolls short stories have made me come to love reading short stories. The Silent Watcher continues the story of K and a new town with a new mission.

K travels into a small town where she meets some kids that are scared to death of the local police. The police should make you feel safe but in this town it is a different situation. K is here to help get justice. A page turning vigilante theme. I loved it.

Thank you William Baker for allowing me to read this book for free. And once again I had a blast with this short story of K. And K is just as badass as usual. The whole story still played like an episode and left off leaving you wondering what is about to happen next.

Allow two hours for this contemporary PG15 (and that means parents READ it first) paranormal vigilante procedural set in Jacksontown, Texas. Chortles may ensue. I had a review copy via Bookfunnel and this is my voluntary review.

Well K is on another mission with an incredible small town with abuses you just can't imagine. Call a cop not these ones. Sometimes K just has so many quick remarks to the bad ones it just makes me laugh!

This book was just as good as the first. K sure is good at figuring out what is wrong in each new location. Then she hands out her own form of justice. I have no sympathy for these criminals, period.

A straightforward book. Nothing as a hidden agenda or a great storyline, simple plot, and story.

Book 2 of the Devil's Doll series.

K is sent to a small town where the local law is in the spotlight. K doesn't like bullies or injustice.

A creepy town

K is assigned to a quiet town where everything seems peaceful - until she encounters some terrified kids. Their stories fill her with unease. What is going on on that town and why are the cops so intimidating? Another intriguing book in the series which is a page turner.
