On New Year’s Eve, Lawrie meets a deadly attractive, loaded alpha who’s brilliant in bed and nice to boot. Pity Ernest travels so much and doesn’t do relationships. Lawrie can at least enjoy one wild weekend. Except now it’s the morning after, and things get weird. Very weird. Lawrie’s body has changed overnight, warranting the freakout of a lifetime.

Ernest has been looking for his true mate since the eager age of twenty-one. After fifteen years, he’s reconciled himself to restless traveling and hook-ups. The most recent one is a real treat—a certain Lawrence Winchester, a young omega with a sharp wit and an unusually intense scent. The thought of a mate doesn’t even enter Ernest’s head as he drifts through the night in a lusty haze. The morning brings life-altering revelations. Lawrie is the one—the signs are unmistakable. Now how to break it to him gently that he’s stuck with Ernest for the rest of his life and that Ernest is, um, a slightly different species…

I love them so much!! Lawrie is sassy but also humorous and Ernest is a mix of charming and sweet. They fit together in the best way! And I mean that makes sense because they're ✨fated✨ mates. There were a lot of funny moments thrown into this story that made me laugh out loud but also some really sweet ones too. And of course, like always, there manages to be a plot shoved into amazing smut. The only thing I would say is that the world building fell a bit short. I wanted to learn more about all the dragon shifters and I also wanted more drawn out romantic flying moments, those are the best. But other than that, I enjoyed this book ☺️.

It pains me to write this review, but this book dragged for me. I didn't expect that because DRAGONS.

But the MCs began fucking at 12% and never stopped. This is fine, delightful even, if the story is closer to novella length, but Skydive is a hefty 370 pages, and somewhere around the halfway mark I lost interest.

The author tried to add layers to the story with a subplot involving sabotage at the company where Lawrie works, but, holy smokes, that whole thing was ridiculous and not even remotely believable. It felt like unnecessary filler, when the book was already so long.

In the epilogue, the MCs get a HEA (they're fated mates after all), but Lawrie's conversation with Josh, his best friend and former roommate, made it seem like Lawrie had just moved out two months ago, when in actuality it had been two YEARS. Did I miss something there?

I also wanted more dragon lore! The world building was nearly nonexistent.

I was fascinated by Davidson, Lawrie's aloof boss and Ernest's friend. Indeed, I was more interested in Davidson than the MCs.

Rounding up because I love this author's work, but the story was missing the complex characterization and underlying poignancy I've come to expect from Roe Horvat.

Reading this story reminded me of consuming cheese. A little is tasty, but eating too much causes a back up. This story uses the idea of dragon shifters to deliver smut. It's about 90% sex and 10% a beautiful relationship and one a predictable bad guy.

By the time I finished this book, I didn't want to read about their sex play anymore. I was hoping for some fun kinky dragon steam but instead it was a lot of frantic, spurty, m/m copulation. (The last 3% does have a little dragon kink)

Overall, a fun story if you are looking to read a sweet, erotic m/m, mpreg, lactation and breeding kink, sex romp.

thank you roe, you never disappoint me and you write masterpieces.
i absolutely adored this book. it’s slightly different from the others alpha/omega books that he writes but somehow it’s still perfect.
i have to admit that i am partial to mates, but this is so good!
loved the plot, story, characters, the smut was absolutely amazing.
the only downside is that i have to wait till 2023 for davidson’s story.

His passion was written all over his face. There's nothing as gratifying as a lover visibly enjoying your touch, and Lawrence looked high on sex when he slowly began riding my cock.

the gaggery was definitely at its lowest this time. and i know i know that is on me. i mean, i liked the story as a whole but i unfortunately didn't loved it. i might be winding down from my horvat high i'm afraid. i would've wanted for more dragonic sex, more of that dragon dick that according to lawrence looked like a small missile. in short, i need more freaky shit. i'm excited, however, with the next book. mr. davidson sullivan, who is meaner, grumpier, and bigger, better deliver or else i'm gonna cry. happy others seem to loved this though.

I have been anticipating Skydive for a while, and I was not disappointed. Roe has a way of writing near novel-length erotica and still has me fully engaged from page one to the final sentence. I adored the story of Ernest and Lawrie. It starts fast because of fated mates; however, for Lawrie, his mind has to catch up with his body as he learns the handsome man he met at work is a dragon. The sex is spicy, sensual, messy, and oh so erotic. I do not expect any less from Roe Horvat. This is not for everyone, especially if you do not enjoy multiple scenes of sex back to back. There is a bonding period that newly mated dragon mates go through before even the heat comes. I loved seeing the relationship grow from physical to love, especially for Lawrie. I liked how there was a discussion of choice and that Lawrie decided to wait and not get pregnant immediately. There were serious discussions, and of course, I loved how Ernest and Manny were there to support and provide advice to Lawrie. It was beautifully written and had all the elements I expect from Horvat's work that I have come to love.

I am so excited for Davidson's story (The fact that the nextbook will be Leonard (from Unexpected) and Davidson is sending me!). Overall I loved it and did not want it to end so soon. I was forcing myself to go a bit slower with my reading pace to avoid devouring it in one sitting. If you love Roe Horvat's work and are looking for feel-good, low-angst erotica, this is it.

Last thing - I would strongly recommend reading the free short story My Treasure first [LINK] by Roe Horvat as it connects the world of Hedonist and Dragons of Ardaine. While you do not need it to enjoy Skydive it gives another layer to this new series.

Who put this plot in my smut?

For the record, I'm not complaining; I can confidently say that this is my favorite of Roe's that I've read so far for that reason alone. But also, don't misunderstand me - we are still very much in the heart of Smut City, where cum rains from the skies and every store is dedicated to a different kink. If you're here for a PWP fix, I promise you'll still get your money's worth.

Lawrie & Ernest are adooooorable! I love the way their story unfolds and I especially love that even though it's a fated mates story, Lawrie reacts fairly realistically and, at first, is like "this is fucking crazy, I'm out." The way his character is written makes the "soulmate" thing waaay more palatable than it usually is for me. His sarcasm and sass carries the whole book and I fucking loved it.

I even really liked the background plot with Sullivan and Burnes - it added to the story and gave our MCs a lot more depth than these types of books usually provide.

Also, lover's milk!? Yeah, I fucks with it.

4.5*

I love Roe's ability to mix the erotic with the poignant, the heat with the heart and oh boy does he do that in this one.

It's an mPREG omegaverse world, I think it's maybe connected loosely to his other omegaverse series because it mentions Dalton City, but it's a complete standalone and reveals the interesting secret that dragon shifters exist!

As with Roe's other omegaverse works, this book is smut on steroids, there's knotting, heat breeding, fisting references, and dirty talk.

Here we also have the added bonus of a fated mates story. Ernest has been looking for his mate for years and, at the relatively old age of 35, is on the verge of giving up when he meets Lawrence.

What starts off as a single epic encounter at a New Year's Eve party rapidly turns into a full on bonding experience which sees Lawrie having to come to terms not only with the existence of dragon shifters but his changing status as a Dragon's Mate.

While I adored the relationship between Ernest and Lawrie, this one didn't fully captivate me like Roe's other omegaverse worlds have and I think that's more because, for me, the dirty talk and smuttish behaviour from Lawrie seemed to develop instantly from nowhere, rather than him becoming more confident and relaxing into his relationship with Ernest.

It's a minor point, it doesn't spoil the narrative overall, which also has a nice secondary plot involving espionage and sabotage at the company Lawrie works for and where Ernest is a consultant, and I felt very satisfied with the romance at the heart of the story.

I'm intrigued by Lawrie's boss Davidson and I'm really hoping he gets his own cinnamon bun character to pull him out of the cold and lonely life he's stuck in.

Roe Horvat pulls it off again!
Porn with plot!!
Let me edit that, sexy shifter porn with plot!

I didn’t get tired of all the sex and all the physical changes the MC’s went through in this growly novel/erotica.

Go see for yourself and understand how Horvat NEVER disappoints in the bedroom (and living room, and balcony, and kitchen)!!

3.5 steamy stars. Phew. This book is first of all, because it’s Roe, HOT AS HELL. 🔥🔥🔥 Do not proceed if you like your sex boring and predictable. In fact, he isn’t afraid to bring in kinks and sexual explorations that most other authors won’t touch, and being an mpreg/Omegaverse series opens up those explorations. It is, frankly, why I love and thoroughly enjoy Roe’s writing.

This is Insta-bond but the omega struggles to come to terms with it at first. But DRAGONS, ya’ll. We all secretly want a dragon shifter partner, don’t even lie. And that was the extra spice we haven’t had in Roe’s other omegaverse books that I positively ate up. I loved the added bit of action and drama, and I positively CANNOT wait for Davidson’s book.

I am so excited for this new series from Roe. Give me all the spicy heat sex dragon shifter goodness. 🐉

This book was so much fun. I absolutely adored their dynamic. Ernest, the alpha and dragon, was ready for them to be together forever while lawrence was more skeptical and made ernest work for his affections. It was just so much fun to read and these two had the best dynamic. I loved them together as a couple so much. I loved seeing their banter and their more tender moments, as well as their explosive moments between the sheets, or on walls. Everything about these two just clicked together in ways that were magical and I loved to read about it.

I needed a book that would distract my brain of just allow me to escape for a few hours and this book was just so perfect for the job.

I usually use fated mates/alpha-omega books as fillers for some easy entertainment, and this one fit the bill. It was longer than I thought and had more relationship development.

There's still plenty of sex (plenty!), but I appreciated the character and relationship development too. I'm looking forward to the next book, which will feature a side character.

4 Stars!! This was a pleasant surprise for me since it was in RH's Omegaverse and had a dragon shifter 😱, plus Mpreg trope... I can't even explain how none of those tropes appeal to me and yet I had nothing to do during this long weekend and decided to take the leap and start reading this.. and a few chapters in I was hooked, 😍 not only was the story interesting.. the MCs were likable.. plus the intimate scenes were some of RH's best I think🔥. I would describe the book as HOT and SWEET 🔥❤️
Great start to the new year!! Can't wait for the next one in the series.. Highly recommended to all fans of MM erotica 👍 👍

OMG well I think I have a favorite new Roe Horvat book! I have been eagerly awaiting his venture into dragon shifter omega verse for months, ever since the first little teasers, and I have to say I am now completely obsessed and I need more in this world! This is his longest book he's ever written, but it never once felt dragged out or boring - honestly, I didn't want this story to end!

Lawrie is a young omega and meets Ernest at a work party. What starts as a hot hookup turns into discovering that they are fated mates when they wake up the next day. The chemistry and attraction between the two is intense, but I also love that Lawrie especially wants to get to know Ernest and know him as a person, not just their attraction.

Roe, as always, has such a great way to blending the erotic with the romance. It's one of my favorite things about his writing. Readers, please know that this is explicit and centers around many of the typical omega verse tropes, although the bulk of the story is not centered around a true heat.

I also kinda love Davidson, Lawrie's boss, because I think there is a lot of great story potential there. He is very bitter and stern, and really just lonely. He needs a mate. And now I want him to find the most cinnamon roll to have ever rolled, to help thaw his curmudgeonly ways.

So yes. I am here for all the dragon omega verse, once again Roe has taken something and truly made it his own. Can't wait for more.

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Ooooh, Skydive has Dragon Shifters!

It doesn’t matter what genre Roe Horvat writes, he builds such incredible romances. I swear I could literally "see" these two falling in love.

Even though Lawrence and Ernest are Fated Mates, Ernest takes his time to properly woo Lawrie. He’s considerate of all the imbalances between them, both in experience as well as in their financial situations. Ernest’s patience and sweetness is wonderful!

Skydive is chock full of all the steamy and sensual lovin' that Roe Horvat writes so beautifully.

If you haven't delved into Roe Horvat's Omegaverse World yet, you can start with any of them, they all stand alone.

“So… you said something about flying?” he whispered.
“Flying? You make me soar, Lawrie.”

If anyone knows how to do omegaverse right, it’s Roe Horvat.
Didn’t think it could get any better than his Winter Sun series, but oh boy was I wrong — because what’s better than omegaverse? Omegaverse with dragons.

Sweet meet-cute, great and extensive smut, and a nice sub-plot interspersed between all the smut.

The author somehow managed to balance wild & crazy erotica with heart and feels. Ernest and Lawrie had a palpable connection from the start, and it was great to follow their growing relationship. Even being fated mates, there was still a nice crescendo as Lawrie came to terms with Ernest’s dragon nature. I appreciated it not being too insta-love.

I blushed like crazy writing all the info for this review, so don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Tropes and NSFW info (spoilers):
- Dragon shifter x human (alpha x omega)
- Mpreg
- Size difference
- LOTS of cum
- Butt plug (to keep said cum in ofc)
- Breeding kink
- Nipple play is too broad of a term for what they did to bro’s nips (sucking, nursing, milking)
- Public sex
- Fisting
- Rimming
- Strict top/bottom

i may write a longer review than this idk yet but here is the important stuffs

roe never misses. i go absolutely crazy for the fated mates trope so this was right up my alley. i loved when they woke up the next morning and lawrie’s body had changed and he was like wtf ernest. so funny.

can roe please give me a birthing scene. i haven’t had one since i read Ugly and i’m going through withdrawals

update: here’s my more formal review from my bookstagram :P

Nobody writes omegaverse like Roe Horvat. I always love reading whatever he writes. This book was just as good as the others, but it has dragons, so it obviously gets bonus points.

So the premise here is that Lawrence and Ernest meet one morning at Lawrence’s work, and after that interaction, they kept thinking of each other. Fast forward to a New Year’s Eve gala, and they meet again and go home with each other. They couldn’t keep their hands off of each other. They were like men possessed, and neither stopped to question it. Then the morning brings revelations. Turns out Ernest is a dragon and Lawerence is his fated mate. And Lawrence’s body has changed overnight to accommodate being a dragon’s mate. Quite a shock. Ernest is over the moon excited about finding his mate, but Lawerence doesn’t share the same exuberance. His body has changed, and now he’s stuck for life with someone he barely knows. Someone who happens to be able to shift into a dragon. It’s just a lot to take in for Lawerence, so the following chapters is them getting to know the person fate has stuck them with. It was great.

I loved how obsessed Ernest was with Lawerence. He just wanted to constantly touch Lawerence and hover around him. It was cute and made me all giggly. Ernest would do anything to make Lawerence happy, and I was like what a man.

Nobody writes smut like Roe. He has a way of writing many sex scenes, but they don’t ever get repetitive or boring. They are so good and so so so dirty.

I enjoyed the characters in this. Ernest has a gigantic family full of dragons, but they are all amazingly sweet. Loved them. Even Lawerence’s grouch of a boss started to grow on me. His book is next in the series, and I’m interested in reading it. It has a character from one of Roe’s other books that I have read. I hated that man, but I also felt bad for him, so I’m wondering how the next book will go. We’ll see!!!!

This was a lot of fun, and I loved it. The epilogue was also adorable. If you are a fan of the omegaverse, mpreg, fated mates, and dragons, give this one a try!!!

Wow! This just hit so many spots for me! I absolutely loved this book and I'm a cranky ass mood reader.

This was my first Roe Horvat book (shame on me), but I had so many on my TBR I guess I assumed I had read at least one by now...

Somehow this dragon shifter Omegaverse book managed to be steamy AF and sweet, but not boring sweet. Major cuddling scenes that were done so well. So much affection and affectionate jabs. It is fated mates style, but I loved that we get to see them adjust and try to get to know each other and fall in love.

Everything was done so well without being overdone. The inner thoughts and monologues never got too long or repetitive. There was a bit of research about dragons and mating and it was interesting, no info dumping here. Lawrence (human Omega) has a fantastic transition from shock and a little bit of fear finding out Ernest (the Alpha dragon) is a dragon and all that entails to really getting into it. (I refuse to spoil the epilogue).

Despite the scintillating sex scenes, some of my favorite moments were when they flew together and sat on a mountain, a man leaving against a dragon, or a dragon wing protecting him from the wind, a dragon head peering into a tent... None of it was sexual, it was just perfect contentment and love. I want fan art of those scenes!

I can't wait for the next book with big old grumpy ass Davidson finding his mate!

For those that like to keep track, this book contained:

Cuddling/snuggling/touch galore
Omegaverse
Omega and Alpha pairing
Human and Dragon pairing
Fated Mates
Knotting
Mpreg
Breeding Kink (Roleplay and real thing)
Feeding/caretaking/hovering
Heats
Travel (Chile and holy shit Wanderlust vibes)
Body changes during Bonding phase (chest and stomach on Omega, dick changes on the dragon)
Dragon dick (it's really not the same, and now you know!)
Lactation/breastfeeding/nursing kink (this was my first time with this and it just happens so naturally it just flows...)

A small mention of restraints and a spank or two.

That was a magnificent story. Most parts I read with no one around, I think my face showed too much. It was ecstatic, mesmerizing, and arousing, I did absorb it and enjoyed it with everything in me.
I adore dragons!!

“Oh, I was going to love this boy so much.”

Yes please, and he did, oh god he did, with every cell of his being.

Lawrence meets Ernest at the business New Year’s Eve party of the company he works for.
The alpha is special, big, strong and stunningly attractive, in no time they leave the party together, and Lawrie ends up at Ernest’s apartment for a scorching sexy night.
Ernest has no time for a relationship, only for one-night stands, but somehow he can’t resist the sexy little omega with his delicious scent, everything about him is attractive. The next morning he understands why... Lawrie is his fated mate.
Lawrie is flabbergasted, they are already bonding, we as readers can follow them in the coming time where Ernest worships Lawrie, it’s hugely emotional, romantic, funny, and even more breathtakingly arousing.

The blurb is just telling the first 30 pages. What happens in the next 360 pages of this journey, gosh, when they wake up the next morning, after a scorching night when Lawrence realizes who and what Ernest is. How Ernest is quickly head over heels in love, thrilled to find his mate. How fulfilling Lawrie is, he’s so funny, sexy and in for everything.
We can meet the beautiful dragon. Be still my heart!

These men, the world needs more of them, their humor, unconditional love and devotion is huge.
Gawd, it’s all absolutely thrillingly written. Super hot, super erotic and super romantic, I couldn’t wish for more!
It’s a marvelous omegaverse story, let’s not forget to mention there are also some interesting side stories and characters, all together beautifully developed, and amazingly written!
All the breathtaking stars for this one!

I’m always a fan of Roe Horvat, but this was the first of his dragon shifter romances that I tried. I was hoping there would have been a little more shifter kink than there was.
Now don’t get me wrong, there was A LOT of smut. But it was all very normal omegaverse smut, and the dirty little rat brain of mine wanted something kinky playing on the dragon shifter aspect. There was half-shifted sex at in one scene at the very end, and I’m being picky because with how much sex there was in the book, there could have been a little more variety.
Ernest was the ideal man—fun, clever, gorgeous, and a demon in bed. His nose alone was enough to make me swoon. And his dick…

I feel like going into these books you kind of anticipate that it is going to be mostly smut, and I was totally okay with that. The romance underneath it was cute, and Ernest was so so sweet. He was so unbelievably excited that his mate was in his life.

Overall, it was cute and an easy read.

story of Lawrie and Ernest

This is a fated mates omegaverse romance, featuring Lawrie and Ernest, and is book one in the Dragons Of Ardaine series.

There is something sweet about fated mates, and Roe takes that sweetness and dials it up to eleven on the spicy meter. Adding in dragon shifters and I couldn’t read it fast enough.

Wow, this book was high heat / super doper spicy. At a few points in this book, I had the embarrassed giggles (because, I out there in the wild reading). The dirty talk was on point and these two were all over each other for most of the book.

I loved the epilogue and am looking forward to reading book two.

Things to expect in this book are:
Book 1 in series
Omegaverse
Hookup to more
Dragon shifter x human
Age gap (36/22)
Size difference
Fated mates
High heat
So much spice & dirty talk
Breeding & lactation kink
S*x toys
Semi public spice
Heat & Mpreg
HEA

I didn’t want it to end! When you have Roe doing omegaverse, you know it’s going to be great. Add in dragons to that universe and it’s spectacular.

Lawrie was absolutely wonderful. Being an omega, he had this grit and spine about him that I loved. Working for a cranky man like Davidson, he was definitely no pushover. Being thrust into a situation that was far beyond his control, he showed a level of grace I would never have had. I loved Ernest for him. Ernest was bold but sweet and put Lawrie’s emotional needs above every instinct he had. He was so patient and it paid off in spades in the end.

Lawrie and Ernest are so hot together. Roe does sexy well and he writes some of the most unique scenes out there. I love how scenes can be scorching hot but still have an emotional depth about them. These two had that going for them in so many ways.

This book was so easy to read and I sincerely didn’t want it to end. The words just flowed and the pages flew by. I loved this story and I cannot wait for the cranky Davidson to have his story told. This is shaping up to be another winner of a series. A well earned 5 stars.

Two stars to a smutty dragon shifter novel that's all sex but no substance

I read this on recommendation from the girlies in a super smutty Facebook group. Sexy dragon shifter romance with high smut? I'm game.

... and I can't believe I'm saying this, but there is simply too much smut.

... and yes, I was like you, dear reader, who read the other reviews of too much smut and said "perfect, awesome" and ping, the book was downloaded.

But even now, I find myself wanting a smidge more plot. There were simply no stakes. The scenes were great, but without the stakes, without the passion and the yearning... it's just sex.

And that only carries the book so far. Most of the points of tension in the novel were easily ironed out so that the characters could stay inside and have the sex. Any arguments were smoothed over quickly to make room for the sex. Any time they did normal things... the sex appeared.

You get it. There's a lot of sex.

Read it if that's your thing; skip if you want more plot.

OMEGAVERSE DRAGON SHIFTERS YES PLEASE! Y'all I am OBSESSED with this series. The world is omegaverse in general, but with hidden dragon shifters, all looking for their fated mates, and when they find them? OMG, things get WILD, quickly. These books are HIGH heat - there is A LOT of spice, as you'd expect to find in a Roe Horvat book. But the spice is creative, unique, and they are also sweet and swoony, with fun, interesting plots. If you're looking for something a little different that's fast-paced, spicy, and DRAGONS, you NEED to check this out!

The first book, Skydive, involves an office meet cute between Ernest, an engineering consultant, and Lawrie, an executive assistant. They immediately feel a spark, and end up hooking up at a party, but things get weird for Lawrie when Ernest realizes that they are mates. This book provides a lot of world building context as Lawrie tries to figure out what on earth it means to be a dragon mate - it's pretty wild, but his honest confusion is totally valid. I LOVED watching Ernest trying SO HARD to please his mate who is on FREAKING OUT about what he's gotten himself into. That said, both of these guys figure things out pretty quickly and the story ends up being incredibly sweet.

Levity, book 2, has a little more intensity to it. Dragon shifter Davidson thought he would never find his mate, despite looking his entire life. He's completely floored when he discovers that it's Leo, a bratty, chaotic mess of a man that he meets at a party. These guys are a study in opposites, but once they start to feel each other out, it becomes REALLY clear how well suited they are for each other. They both have a ton of baggage - Davidson has become curmudgeonly from feeling so alone without a mate and Leo from a horrible past relationship. When they realize that they have what the other needs, however, they are an unstoppable force.

I friggin love Roe Horvat’s omegaverse. It is wildly creative and detailed already, and the dragon shifter aspect adds a whole new level to the lore. This book has a bit meatier of a plot than some of the omegaverse books, which was fun. I felt like we really got to know the MCs outside of the sex scenes. The emotional horniness remains top tier.

Would definitely recommend.
