Real, hardcore S&M erotica in the vein of books like Sadopaideia, A Man and A Maid, the novels of F.E.Campbell, and even the outright porn of the "Bizarre Library" series seems to have entirely died in today's market.
What we have is either BDSM "lifestyle" and Ds stories or "Erotica", basically bodice rippers with more sexual detail.
After going blind searching the bookstores and Internet for anything to suite my taste, I was driven to write my own. Stories with real, well researched plots and characters, but enough S&M action to work as stroke fiction if that's what the reader wants (needs?).
I'm a successful professional, so I know what the "real world" is like. I'm widely traveled and multilingual. I do nude photography and CGI art, so I know what naked women actually look like, and I have wielded a whip and used it on (willing) women from all over the world.
If you too are looking for something harder than just sexed up romance, take a look at my books. Note that NONE of my books fall under the category of "Erotic Romance".
And if you are looking for some interesting SF/Horror have a look at the book "Vampire-Tech" which is by me too.
Whenever the Crusades are mentioned, images of the Middle East, the Holy Land, come to mind. Deserts and camels, Templar Knights battling Saladin's horsemen.
But oddly enough, one of the most significant events of the Second Crusade occurred not in the Middle East, but in Europe. Setting sail from England in the 12th Century AD, the Crusaders were diverted by a call for help by the King of Portugal. He requested their aid in order to retake the city of Lisbon from the Moors, who were technically part of the Umayyad Caliphate.
While many Crusaders were undoubtedly inspired by religious fervour, loot, fame, and adventure were also important aspects that drove many knights to sign up, and in this particular case, the promise of land in recaptured/reconquered parts of Portugal. Because of this, many Englishmen, knights and men-at-arms, ended up settling in Portugal after the fighting was done.
Slavery was still a part of everyday life in England and Europe at that time. Most was not the chain-gang plantation slavery of popular imagination, but the actually more common debt-slavery. People sold themselves in exchange for large (to them) sums of money, much like long term employment contracts of today. Being the body slave of a knight was not the worst possible fate in those days, and for someone who needed to escape enemies or the law in England, departing with a knight on a Crusade might actually have appeared to be an appealing option.
The city of Lisbon had been under Moorish rule for many years, and while the Moors theoretically did not enslave fellow Muslims, other races and religions were largely fair game. Sexual slavery was especially rampant, and many harems featured European and even English women. When Lisbon fell to the Crusaders, many of these slaves were abandoned and left destitute and helpless. Being sullied by the sexual touch of their Moor owners, or actually being Arab or Persian themselves.
This then is the setting for my novel "Crusader". I have tried to give the language a taste of the times without adopting the flowery (and inaccurate) "thees" and "thous" of courtly romance.
It is a tale of a young knight's fight for recognition and survival, beset by enemies both English and foreign. With a taste for what we today would call BDSM, he finds himself an alien to the courtly but often ruthless romance of the English nobility.
Almost by chance he gathers several female slaves along the way, and with his faithful squire, he takes part in the most successful event of the Second Crusade, the reconquest of Lisbon, while being stalked by a killer knight sent by his brother. During the siege of Lisbon he discovers the delights of the Moorish harem, and a most unusual group of sex slaves who are delighted to find a sponsor and protector.
But to enjoy the delights of all these willing women, he has first to survive the deadly battles against the Moors, the hostility of other crusaders, and the hardened killed who has been paid to take his head.
A blend of "Ivanhoe", "A Man And A Maid", and "The Story of O", I present to you "Crusader".
Smut with history. Seems like a good combo and it is but it gets bogged down with too many words at times. I thought it was o.k. but liked several of the authors other works better.
