They said they were gods, but I know the truth. I am one of the select few who fight against them. We serve the true gods of Yoria, not these demons.
Our leader has ordered me to give myself to Apollo. He wants me to find out his secrets, from the inside. I have sworn an oath but how can I do this?
I have seen his powers first hand, the things he can do defy logic. He is the most powerful warrior in all of our land and the heavens. I need to entice him and I know I have only one thing he wants.
I drop to my knees before him, my heart racing. Am I truly about to debase myself for the cause? But he isn't like I imagined. He doesn't touch me like a demon, he touches me like a man, more than a man. He makes me feel things I didn't think were possible. He tells me I'm his, but I can't be.
The more I see him, the more I know that we are meant to be together. If he's really a demon, how can he make me feel like this? I have to choose who I will betray, my only friends or the man I love.
My choice will decide the fate of Yoria—and the universe.
Welcome to Yoria.
This place might seem familiar to you in some respects, but totally alien in others. On this dark, brutal world there is not much in the name of hope. Humans are the playthings of the gods—lower than animals. But, sometimes, the paths of two beings can cross and send a ripple through the universe. Love has the power to change the future of an entire planet. These are the stories of the fated mates of Yoria.
Drama, action, violence, sex, love.
Author’s All of the books in this series contain graphic violence and dark themes, but they make the happy ending all the more satisfying. Also, I hate cliffhangers, so you definitely won’t be finding any of them. I strongly recommend that the books be read in order to get the most out of this series!
Kyros/Apollo (H), a Qhin captain, is on a mission to discover what the Dhaarria are doing with the humans in Tripassus. Maera (h), part of a group of human who know the ‘gods’ are not the true gods, is on a mission to seduce Apollo and learn his secrets. The pair are drawn together and things get intensely hot and steamy action between Kyros and Maera. They’ll be forced to make choices that will decide the fate of all on Yoria. For me, I was going with the story for about seventy-five percent of the story and then things went into the metaphysical - 'is this real'/what is reality thing which isn’t my cup of tea. There was a lot of action and things going on throughout the story, but I just didn’t feel engaged with Kyros and Maera.
This third story in this series about a world that is set up as an amusement park or scientific observation for the aliens. They pose as gods while the humans that were transported to Yoria live their lives. This story is about Maera and Apollo/Captain Kyros, God of the Sun. Summoned by his Commander, Kyros is told about a strange radioactive occurrence on the planet and to plan a party to distract the humans discovering the truth and to find a dissension group that's forming on the planet. Maera is in the Order who discovered the truth that their gods are false and are demons and has an assignment to serve Apollo to get proof. What occurs as both are trying to help the humans is an engaging story as they get closer together. This well written story is action-packed, dramatic, and romantic with two engaging interesting characters in this ARC that I received and that I volunteer to read and review.
Maera is more than just a beautiful girl. She is also clever and observant and there is more to her sacrifice than meets the eye. She knows that there are gods and false idols. What she doesn't expect is for Apollo to be more than she expects. He shows her a tenderness and respect that she has never had from anyone before. Could everything she has been lead to believe in be a lie? Kyros is tired of pretending to be a god, one who wears gold leaves on his head and who is blamed for natural environmental occurences, like drought! He might be the liaison for humanity but he really would like to move on from there. That is until the lastest foolishness from the humans, a female human sacrifice, causes him to act. There is just something about her and the more he tries to forget her the more he feels he cannot. Why is he suddenly now noticing her? Is there something more going on?
The premise of aliens masquerading as ancient gods in this series has been an interesting one. Apollo God of the Sun aka Kyros has been tasked by his superior to keep the population of Yoria diverted while they are doing reconnaissance. Though fed up with his role as Apollo he agrees and the story soon takes some interesting plot twists. This was an imaginative Sci-Fi romance with action, adventure and a fast-paced narrative. I enjoyed this third book in the series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I have been intrigued by the series from the beginning. Aliens fulfilling the role of ancient gods has been such a fun and unique premise. In this one, Kyros (Apollo) goes to Earth to again tell the humans to stop sacrificing people to him for favor. He has grown exasperated. Maera was the human who would have been sacrificed if not for his intervention. But she doesn't believe Kyros is a real god, but a fake- a demon- taking control of the world from the real gods and is on a mission to seduce him and learn his secrets. An interesting and compelling read. 4 stars.
This series has been amazing, but I think this book (third in the series) is my favorite so far! For those that aren't familiar with the series, aliens have taken on the premise of being gods, the one in this book masquerades as Apollo. He goes to tell the humans to stop sacrificing people to him, and ends up saving the woman that was the next sacrifice.
