Leer a Kanako Inuki ha sido como entrar en la casa de una vieja y buena amiga a la que hace tiempo que no visitas. Al principio te sientes extraña pero conforme pasan los relatos te hallas cada vez más cómoda y esa sensación de volver a un lugar conocido y querido se va instalando dentro de ti. Y es que Kanako Inuki consigue que saquemos a ese niñ@ que llevamos dentro, que amaba el terror y a la vez temía la sombra que proyectaban las cortinas en la oscuridad o esa presencia invisible escondida debajo de la cama, en el armario o en cualquier rincón de tu habitación cuando caía la noche.
La obra se compone de seis relatos cortos entre los que destaco "El deseo cumplido", que me ha gustado especialmente, y que va de una princesa ciega y hermosa que lo tiene todo pero ansía poder verse a sí misma y comprobar realmente que es tan bella como dicen. Todos los relatos tienen esa moraleja propias de los cuentos tradicionales macabros.
Además, el arte de la autora, de corte clásico entre lo cuqui y lo macabro, me ha resultado fascinante.
El tomo está compuesto por fichas de los personajes que aparecen en cada relato así como una entrevista muy interesante donde conocemos un poco más sobre la autora. Sus primeros pasos como lectora y mangaka de terror, los autores que la influenciaron, como Kazuo Umezz o Tezuka. También nos incluyen varios tops con sus obras y autores favoritos e incluso sus experiencias más terroríficas.
Una gozada de obra que recomiendo encarecidamente a todos los amantes del terror.
La obra se compone de seis relatos cortos entre los que destaco "El deseo cumplido", que me ha gustado especialmente, y que va de una princesa ciega y hermosa que lo tiene todo pero ansía poder verse a sí misma y comprobar realmente que es tan bella como dicen. Todos los relatos tienen esa moraleja propias de los cuentos tradicionales macabros.

"Junto con la capacidad de ver...pude contemplar claramente mi horrendo corazón."
Este manga contiene 6 historias con elementos fantásticos en relación a los miedos e inseguridades de sus protagonistas. Historias que están ligadas a los regalos que estos reciben en base a lo que piden.
Aquí nos encontramos con diferentes escenarios como, métodos para invocar demonios, niñas que quieren crecer, rechazo en la escuela, obsesión, problemas psicológicos, una inusual muñeca, entre otros.
La Mangaka tiene un estilo de dibujo caricaturesco ochentero, altamente influenciada por los grandes del manga Kazuo Umezz y Osamu Tezuka como se puede observar al leer el tomo y que me ha recordado por momentos a uno de mis mangakas favoritos, Hideshi Hino.
Es un tomo de terror cotidiano y psicólogico con historias muy amenas, sutiles y entretenidas que se leen muy rápidos, sin duda, aptas para casi todo público.
El tomo tiene material anexo, como por ejemplo, al comenzar nos muestran las características de los diferentes personajes, al inicio de cada historia la mangaka nos cuenta que la llevo a escribirla, también podemos ver diferentes top 5 de ella, películas mangas, etc., y al final hay un poco de su vida.

I got this because I absolutely loved the cover and kept seeing comparisons to Junji Ito, but I just didn’t like this at all, nor did I find it even a little creepy. 1 star for the cover and 1 for finishing it, I suppose.

This is supposed to be scary?
The art is ugly, but not creepy. The writing verges on so-bad-it's-good, but stays on the wrong side of that line with its silly Twilight Zone twists and the overheated cheese that passes for dialogue.

La selección me ha parecido irregular (historias muy buenas o muy sosas), pero el dibujo es muy consistente y característico, y en términos generales me he quedado con ganas de leer más. También se agradece que traduzcan el trabajo de una mangaka de terror en un género en el que predominan los hombres. Espero que podamos disfrutar pronto de más obras de esta autora en español.

Esta antologia incluye seis relatos, es la primera vez que leo a la artista Kanako Inuki, sus ilustraciones me gustaron mucho, aunque quizas sus historias no tanto.
La antologia presenta una ficha tecnica de cada protagonista, asi como tambien datos personales de Inuki, donde la autora nos habla de mangas, peliculas (hay muchas referencia, algunas las conozco, otras que valdran la pena chequear), una entrevista y curiosidades de la propia autora.
Present (The birthday present): el retrato realista de lo que puede ser la crueldad de los niños, hay actos que pueden marcar de por vida y las consecuencias se ven en la adultez. La historia es previsible, pero esta bien desarrollada. 3/5
Bukita-Kun (Lolita): mi gran problema con este relato es el comportamiento inapropiado con un niña de cinco años (se nos recuerda la edad de la niña muchas veces), para mi es inevitable ver altas vibras pedofilas, y eso realmente me hizo incomodar en toda la lectura. 1/5
Big sis Sasori (the Sasori doll): se relaciona con "Present". La autora en una nota inicial hace mencion que al final esta es una historia de cariño entre hermanas..ahora me pregunto..donde esta el cariño? La hermana mayor de principio a fin hace un continuo bullying a la hermana menor. Esto de amor o cariño no tiene nada. 2/5
The haunted examination room (lovesickness): la autora ahonda en lo que se conoce como fictofilia, llevado a un nivel extremo y brutal. Visceral, body horror, excelente. 5/5
Fulfilled wishes (the book of demons): un claro ejemplo de lo que es la superficialidad, cuando lo unico que importa es la apariencia fisica aflorecen los monstruos internos de los frivolos. 4/5
The mysterious Tatari-chan (friends at the smiling gate): una vez mas la autora aborda el bullying, siento que la historia quedo demasiado inconclusa. 2/5

¡Súper creepy! Me impresionó mucho que las historias estén inspiradas en miedos reales como envejecer, el acoso, el rechazo, entre otros.

Terdiri dari 6 chapter dengan kisah yg berbeda, komik ini bagus banget dan penuh makna. Meskipun ada dark horor nya tapi ga seram sama sekali, malah banyak pelajaran yg bisa diambil. Terus penulisnya jg ngasi intro tentang karakter dan ceritanya di tiap chapter, suka banget!
Chapter pertama kita mengisahkan tentang dua orang murid yg memiliki tanggal lahir yg sama, dan merayakan dikelas, namun gadis yg satunya tidak mendapatkan kado satupun. Tapi gadis itu tidak sedih, menurut gadis itu ternyata setiap ulang tahun jika kita menerima kado, Maka kado itu akan menambah umur kita, dan membuat kita bertambah tua. Gadis itu awet muda dan tetap seperti anak remaja disaat teman yg lain sudah menjadi nenek, hanya karna dia ga nerima kado 🤣
Chapter kedua mengisahkan tentang anak kecil berumur 5 tahun yg bersikeras ingin menjadi dewasa lebih cepat karna ia ingin merasakan menjadi wanita cantik, dan menjalin hubungan dengan seseorang. Akhirnya ia dikasi ramuan gitu sama cowok, biar cepet dewasa, tapi kasian endingnya.
Chapter ketiga bercerita tentang kakak beradik yg menerima kado natal setiap tahun, kakaknya yg selalu merusak hadiah adiknya membuat adiknya kesal dan menangis. Lalu adiknya memohon kepada santa agar mendapatkan kado yg ga bisa dirusak sama kakaknya, ternyata kadonya Boneka berbentuk kakaknya. Jadi kek boneka santet gitu, kalo tangan bonekanya ditarik, tangan kakaknya ikut ketarik wkwkwk
Chapter keempat mengisahkan seorang introvert yg takut buat menjalin hubungan sama cowok, akhirnya cuma bisa ngehalu karakter fiksi. Terus imajinasi dia ternyata ngebentuk sesuatu didalam jantungnya. Jadi cowok yg dia haluin tuh hidup dijantungnya gitu.
Chapter selanjutnya tentang seorang putri yg tdk bisa melihat, ia merasa dirinya jelek, dan ga percaya dengan ucapan orang-orang di istana bahwa ia cantik. Akhirnya putri minta penglihatannya balik ke demon. Pas balik ternyata yg burik itu orang-orang istananya 🤣
Chapter terakhir, tentang pembullyan gitu, ga terlalu menarik menurutku yg terakhir ini. Cuma masih terhitung lumayan, apalagi pelajarannya.
Penulis jg menuliskan beberapa hal favoritnya di komik ini, seperti top fav manga, top fav horror movie, dan banyak lagi.
Intinya aku suka komiknya, bagus dan sangat menghibur. Banyak makna dan kekocakan jg didalamnya. Wkwkwk rekomen!

4.25 To all my Junjo Ito fans, this manga is for you. This is the first short story collection publish in English by this mangaka. Considering how beautiful this cover is I really wished it could have been released as a hardcover. This short story collection contains 6 wonderfully horrific and strange stories that I thoroughly enjoyed. On top of that the art is fitting to the types of stories the author is telling and is pleasant to the eye yet feels as strange and terrifying as the stories themselves. We get short blurb‘s before each story from the author telling us about his inspiration which is very reminiscent of what Ito does in his collections. A unique addition to this short story collection is that we get a cast of characters and character Index which is fun.
I highly recommend this short story collection and here are mini burbs of each story.
1. Presents; a simple story that makes receiving gifts something to not look forward to.
2. Bukita-Kun; A disturbing story about the dangers of growing up too fast and a stalker.
3. Big Sis Sasori: A bleak and comical story about sister rivalry.

Curti bastante, não só pelo traço e pela proposta, mas pelos comentários da autora sobre as próprias histórias e referências! Bizarro na medida, e novamente entendo porque shoujo (mangás para meninas) seja o público ideal para o gênero terror. PERFECTION

RELATOS TERRORIFICOS

Quien diría que este manga iba a atraparme, los relatos aquí contenidos, no muestran algo grotesco sino que mejor juegan con el terror mental y una serie de claves interesantes referentes a diferentes temas, como el bullying, las burlas y los secretos por descubrir.
Estos seis relatos se complementan muy bien con detalles de la vida de la autora, su descubrimiento como mangaka, su obsesión con el terror y sobretodo su pasión por Kazuo Umezz y otros grandes autores.
El Primer relato titulado el Regalo, nos habla de dos personajes que tienen el mismo día su cumpleaños una de ellas siempre recibe regalos pero la otra no, así pasa la vida hasta que una de ellas con el paso del tiempo se vuelve fea y vieja.
Con Bukita (Lolita) tenemos la obsesión de una niña por ser mujer, y tener novio esto lo consigue gracias a qué Bukita un joven experimenta con ella , ella convierte en mujer pero su crecimiento acelerado también la lleva a acelerar su edad y quedar hasta los huesos.
Mi hermana Sasori cuenta la historia de dos hermanas que reciben regalos de Santa, una de ellas desea que su regalo sea indestructible, y se cumple al grado que una muñeca parecida a su hermana provocará riñas entre varios (quizá era algo vudu)
La consulta de lo Insólito, se nos habla del mal de amores, pero como esa obsesión por la paciente la llevo a crear un ser deforme, no solo en la mente sino también en su corazon. (Se dice que los demonios se aprovecharon de la joven).
Así mismo, el relato "El deseo Cumplido" una princesa quiere ver su belleza, eso lo lograrás, gracias a pedirle a un demonio ese deseo, pero al verlo descubrirá que en su mundo solo hay adefesios que la hicieron su reina.
El último relato La Extraña Tatari, nos habla de una joven maltratada por sus compañeros porque pensaban que tenía una maldición, la tildaron de loca hasta que otra joven la apoyo.
Los relatos de Kaneko Inuki, son peculiares, maravillosos, terroríficos y reflexivos, muestran diferentes problemáticas y diversas banderas rojas que tiene la sociedad en general. Una manga que recomiendo leer a media noche.

Así mismo, el relato "El deseo Cumplido" una princesa quiere ver su belleza, eso lo lograrás, gracias a pedirle a un demonio ese deseo, pero al verlo descubrirá que en su mundo solo hay adefesios que la hicieron su reina.
El último relato La Extraña Tatari, nos habla de una joven maltratada por sus compañeros porque pensaban que tenía una maldición, la tildaron de loca hasta que otra joven la apoyo.
Los relatos de Kaneko Inuki, son peculiares, maravillosos, terroríficos y reflexivos, muestran diferentes problemáticas y diversas banderas rojas que tiene la sociedad en general. Una manga que recomiendo leer a media noche.

Kanako Inuki has been recommended to me a lot since I love the work of Junji Ito. I love the creepiness he brings to the manga world. Then I saw the cover to this and it haunted my nightmares. I knew it was something that I had to read.
The stories were way out there and bizarre. I found myself really enjoying this. They were great but not Ito great. Still highly suggest this one.

How is this supposed to be anything like Junji Ito??? Besides the fact that it’s manga and “horror?”
The Queen of Horror Manga, based on this volume, just didn’t do it for me. She seems nice enough based on her little notes throughout the book but the stories are too juvenile. If I had a daughter in elementary school, though, I’d love to catch her reading this. And I’m sure it will be of great interest to the kind of grown men and women really into YA for some reason. Blah, overall this is closer to a 1 for me. The sadistic humor of the bully sister pushes it up a notch, barely.

Personally i thought it wasn’t scary and was kinda boring. The scariest thing about it was the normalised paedophilic overtones in one of the stories.

Hoo boy. The name “Japan’s Queen Of Horror” struck some deep curiosity within me when I picked this one up completely out of interest in the cover. What I got was quite frankly a mess of an anthology. Now don’t get me wrong, with the illustrations, direction of some of the stories and the characterization, there was something to enjoy. Not much though. One of the stories that caught my interest was “The Haunted Examination Room”. Not only did it tell a story that felt Ito-esque but it felt fully complete by the end. The illustrations of the truly horrific situation were also pretty dang good. Other than that, this manga, was just Ok.

Leer autoras es importante todo el año, y una cuenta pendiente a nivel personal es leer autoras de cómic que no sean blancas. Así nos encontramos en la librería Kanako Inuki y yo.
Aunque ningún relato me ha fascinado, Inuki me ha cogido de la mano y me ha llevado por su mundo, sus historias y sus reflexiones sobre las mismas. Y cuando ha llegado la hora de despedirnos, me he sentido cuando a mi mejor amigo lo recogían sus padres. Esto se ha acabado demasiado pronto.
Estos Relatos Terrorificos tienen mucho de angustia, de atracción hacia el abismo, e incluso de sentirte como en casa. Esta combinación de sensaciones ha sido lo que más me ha gustado de esta obra.
A nivel gráfico tiene un dibujo y una narración poderosas, aunque algunos aspectos hayan podido envejecer peor (son historias escritas en los 80), nada que no me haya impedido disfrutarlas muchísimo. También ha ayudado la preciosa y cuidada edición de Satori.
Así es que esto podría ser otro tipo de fascinación, ya que, sin enamorarme, podría leer sus relatos terroríficos noche, tras noche, tras noche.

First time reading Inuki, the cover caught my attention and so I waited until I could snag a copy from the library to see if I would get this collection, it's less of the grotesque horror and more on the bizarre end which isn't necessarily a bad thing, as I'm a big fan of weird and quirk.
I also enjoyed that she included some horror manga works that had an impact on her and other spooky references. I think those who prefer more gasping spookiness and gore would be disappointed, but I'm looking forward to finding more of her work.

I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I read Kanako Inuki's works. This was an amazing dive into an absolutly horrific and greatly emotional mind. The tales of this anthology appear to be but a fraction of what this author can do, and I appreciate the use of everyday situations, fears or painful moments to bring with it the creepy expressions and the enveloping of the readers. Very curious to get to more of her works!

not rlly scary or horror, but it was a decent read! i think i liked the story abt the blind princess the best. that being said, none rlly left a lasting impression on me, as they ended rather too quickly to have much impact. the last one was the weakest imo. for the genre, i did like the art style. it reminded me of betty boop for some reason ajsjdjdj

This is pretty solidly a 3.5, but three of the stories are strong enough to merit rounding up rather than down. This is a collection of stories taken from Inuki's other works, which isn't great for the overall book, but it's interesting nonetheless, and a good introduction to her style and works.
