Marcus Malnar—head asshole of the Malnar Family—has spent a lifetime stepping over the bloody remains of his enemies. Fulfilling his purpose is the only thing that matters; nothing can stand between him and his goals. Except his nephew.
Despite what everyone says, Holden Malnar isn’t spoiled. If you ask him. He’s a pint-sized bundle of insanity with a pain kink, barely held together by a straitjacket, and he owes everything to his uncle. There’s no limit to what he’s willing to do for the man. No. Limit.
Loyalty means everything. Betrayal is a bitter pill to swallow. When Marcus and Holden have to rely on one another to weed out the traitor attempting to destroy their Family, there is no fighting the inevitable.
Odessa Hywell is a taboo MM romance author with a book addiction and coffee problem, who lives in the Southern United States with her husband, their teenage son, who mocks her for being short, and way too many animals.
Aside from writing and reading, she enjoys gardening, cooking, and playing video games.
Her favorite season is winter—hello, snow—but in the summer, she travels as much as possible.
Some of her favorite spots are The Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, Dead Horse Point, Moab UT, Gatlinburg TN, Helen GA, Silverton CO, Roswell, NM—plus honestly, a lot more. The list is nearly endless.
A few places she plans to go in the future are New Orleans, LA and Salem, MA during spooky season, Smuggler's Notch, VT during autumn, the Colorado Mountains during the winter, New York City, Washington DC, a cruise to anywhere, on a hot air balloon ride, on a train trip down the California Coast . . .
In 2021, she decided because she is married to a twin it was best NOT to publish her books featuring twincest and other questionable themes under her married name as her husband would not approve.
—His loss, honestly.—
If you know who Odessa Hywell is, don’t be a snitch. Like Benjamin Franklin said, “Three may keep a secret if two of them are dead.”
Yeah, no. 2.9⭐ This one is my least favorite in the series.
🔴 Taboo - uncle/nephew 🔵 Age gap - 15 years 🟢 Size difference 🟣 Both MMCs with very traumatic past 🌶️ Good spice, older MMC is e/top ❗ Pain kink / knife play 🟡 More plot, less relationship development
Marcus Malnar is the 35 - year old head of the Malnar Family. He's had a terrible childhood, has been to juvenile detention and prison, where he's been more abused and hardly got out of everything alive.
In order to survive, he's had to brutally kill people from an early age, so he's...different. I wouldn't call him a psychopath, he still raised Holden, his 20 - year old nephew, as his own since Holden was 5 years old.
Holden had a terrible childhood, so he grows up with severe trauma and no therapy- with all that money, there's no money for therapy - and since he's got a murdering uncle, he's able to take his shit out on other people. He's somewhat unstable, to say the least.
🔵 We fail to get their full story prior to the events in the beginning of the book and that's a big downfall. No foundation, no past explained, we just dive into their present, where they're already sexually involved.
Bit by bit we get the information of how that came about and I can't say I was really invested in their story much. I would be if we had the pleasure of reading about the time leading up to that moment they were first intimate together, but we find out later on in the book that it happened on Holden's 18th birthday, when he was slightly drunk.
Wow, well, thank you for that.
🟢 In their story, Marcus and Holden try to figure out who's messing with their business, a side character similar to Gabriel in Family Values is inserted and eyo, he's got a twin. 🙄
Chandler, the side character, gets hit in the face, his twin shot to death, the situation is resolved and Holden, for all talk about him being a psycho, is nowhere near Gabriel or Abby from Family Values.
Yes, I'm still hooked on Family Values, sue me.
🌶️ The spice was good, as expected, but the depth of their bond was nowhere to be found.
Yes, for a longer period of time it did seem like Holden was being groomed, and that's because the information about them getting together was scarce.
The hurting part didn't bother me that much, but there was no medicine for it, no adequate emotional aftercare, since they were family and also intimately involved. I expected more there.
👎 I didn't like how Holden treated Oskar after he was there for him when he was sick. Nope, absolutely didn't like that.
This one felt like a half-written story, so much more needed to be said and their relationship needed more development. They're both still not emotionally at home with each other and I really wanted to go on that journey with them.
I liked it. I'm not into pain kink, but I still liked the heroes (they are twisted AF) and enjoyed the fast paced, mafia driven plotline. Out of the three books in this series, I still enjoyed the first book best.
Thank you to Odessa Hywell for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I have been WAITING for Holden's story for what feels like eighty four years. Ever since I got a little sneak peek at him in the first book, I've been waiting for his story. And Holden did not disappoint!
Blood Bound wrapped up the overarching plot line that followed all three of the books, but whew, was it a ride to get to this point. I was almost convinced I knew who was behind it, but I was wrong. The plot though, is honestly secondary to the sex scenes and the absolutely chaotic tornado that is Holden Malnar. In proper Hywell fashion, the sex scenes are detailed and hot and always leave me wanting more. While I'm not a huge fan of blood or knife play, it didn't turn me off here. Also public sex? Sign me up! I would've been disappointed if Marcus had not shown up to see Holden in his twinky glory.
And Holden... HOLDEN! I can't say enough about him. He is chaos and joy and murder in a little itty bitty body. And I love him so much. His chapters were hilarious and I found myself cracking up often. Are we making t-shirts that say Death Death Murder Murder Squad? Because I think we need some.
Read this book! It was an absolute ride in the best of ways!
Content Warnings for book: Discussion and references to child sexual abuse, human trafficking, parental abuse, mention of drug use and addiction, gross parental neglect, blood and gore, torture (between MCs and others), murder, gun violence, incest, power imbalance, sex without lube, rape (between two side characters), off-page dubious consent
Kink: Sadomasochism, bloodplay, knifeplay, public sex, exhibitionism, cock and ball torture, sex toys, spanking, orgasm torture, light breeding kink
Blood Bound is the final book in Odessa Hywell’s mafia incest series, featuring Holden and Marcus, a nephew and uncle.
I think out of the three books, this one is my second favorite. Not only do we have Hywell’s smooth writing and editing, but there is plenty of humor as well in the form of Holden.
In terms of romance, I enjoyed the development of Marcus and Holden. We once again miss out on the usual tension of incest because they already have an established sex life. However, I enjoyed the angst within this one, because Holden felt like Marcus didn’t trust him. As actions play out in the book you can see where there are weaknesses in their relationship (which wasn’t even truly committed) and how they grow to overcome them and become stronger together.
The sex scenes? Hot hot hot. The author says this book isn’t daddy kink and while it’s not, I do think Daddy is used enough as a joking, teasing title by Holden that it may turn some readers off who avoid that term in their books. Take this as a warning! Also the returning nickname of “peanut” might get to someone. It personally wasn’t my favorite at first either, though it grew on me.
Their backgrounds and the way they paralleled themselves really were interesting and heartbreaking. I enjoyed getting those little flashbacks and how these two got to be who they were today. Unlike the previous couples where the younger MCs were more out of the mafia fray (or in it, but not totally by choice), Holden enjoys what he does and being part of the #killsquad. I liked that aspect to him. In general there is a lot more mafia plot due to the way it is wrapping up the overall plot line for this series, so expect that.
Overall, for a surprisingly low-angst but bloody mafia incest story, I recommend this book!
This one was definitely the darkest of the series and I had a good time with it! A shout out to Holden! He really is something else and I love him for that💁🏻♀️💖 The sex scenes were hot not gonna lie but I have the feeling it was too much, especially if you compare this book to the other ones. Something that caught me off guard, was the daddy kink, Holden calls Marcus during the entire book daddy …and at the beginning it says it won’t have it in it.This might be a problem for some people, for me it was okay, but as I said I was surprised.
Holden and Marcus are hot. They are already established in whatever they are to each other when the book starts so that was nice, but Holden has to prove his loyalty after it’s learned there’s a mole in the Family.
I liked this one the best. Probably because I like murderous MMCs, especially ones that others underestimate (ex Holden is classified as a twink to no one thinks he can do the messy jobs).
This one was the darkest of the series. I wasn't expecting that. The best part of this book was Holden. He's so extra! It was fun to read, but confusing because his personality didn't correspond to his appearance in the first book.
The sex was hot, but there was too much. They didn't talk about their relationship until the last page! Apparently, it's been happening since a few years ago, but they never acknowledged it. I have mixed feelings about them as a couple, but their dynamic wasn't that bad.
One thing that I would like to point out is that at the beginning it says there's no daddy kink. However, Holden calls Marcus Daddy throughout the whole book. It's supposed to be a joke, but he even calls him that during sex. Some people might not be comfortable with this.
I can’t say enough about this book! Holden, the femme murder twink, is definitely an entertaining nutcase. But so, so lovable. He constantly surprised me and kept me in stitches with his sassy comebacks. Marcus is a total harass, except that Holden humanizes him. They are perfect together. The storyline was interesting and balanced out the love story perfectly. I’m wishing on all the stars there is more to this series!
My favourite of the series. It ties everything up and leaves me wanting more at the same time. Holden is everything. Loved the cute little murder twink
I loved the whole series concept, and while Abaddon (Family Values : Book 2) caught my heart in a total different way (I think he's my absolute favorite) Holden was a treat! You had me at femme-murder-twink ... I love my murder twinks a bit psycho-cray-cray and obsessive ... and Holden is this and definitely a lot more, but he also has so much depth to his character, and while he's in this kinda-relationship with Marcus he's not sure if he really _belongs_ I loved to see how this book was about trust and bonds and honestly the smut was spicy too. I was all in for some Public Display of SMUT
and while my heart goes boom boom for Holden, Marcus is also an awesome man to adore!
There were a lot of awesome quotes and fun moments I enjoyed this so much, that I might need to check what's wrong with me (have I mentioned the murder(?)) _______________ This is more a Novella and while there were just so many pages I think it was a balance of story and smut. Which I like in my books :D but I'm a needy greedy bitch and I can always read a few lines more...Especially when there's a plot interconnection in the Series _____________________________________ I also loved that Odessa answered some of my questions and while I hope for some special-scenes or maybe spin-offs to meet them all again, I enjoyed this a lot and would rec it for all the Mafia & Taboo Lovers out there!
If I expect to survive, I better fall in line? Who does this idiot think he is? Clearly he’s not someone familiar with me. I would rather die on my feet than survive on my knees.
“Side note: I want Liam on my death squad. He’s a real stand up kind of guy.” “Liam from Sin Eater?” Marcus asks. I nod. “He was going to kill his boss for Salcido.” “He was going to shoot his boss and you want him to work for you?” Chandler asks, turning to face us. “You are aware he needs a long vacation in a nuthouse, not employees, right?” Marcus shrugs. “It’s a little late for that. Besides, he’d come out with more friends than he had going in.” “You make a good point.”
“You created a demon and let it loose on the world.” “So long as he remains loyal, it’s the world’s problem,” I say with a shrug.
“You ready to go home, Peanut?” Marcus asks as he looks down at me. Am I ready to go home? Doesn’t he know I’m already home? Home isn’t a place—walls, doors and windows built on a concrete slab. Home is, and always will be, Marcus Malnar—head asshole of the Malnar Family.
“Youth is a blessing and a curse.” Enough time to learn better. Enough stupidity to perhaps never get the chance.
“Don’t be mean, Daddy,” I pout. “I will beat you,” he says, hand still extended. Is... Is that supposed to be a threat? I honestly can’t tell. “Promise to make it hurt?” I tease as I sway closer. If I’m hard, it’s only because I just killed a man, not because my uncle is offering to show me a good time.
“I’ve always hated to see you cry—breaks my heart.” He brushes under my eye with the pad of his thumb. “Careful,” I tease, even if my voice is raw. “That almost sounds like a weakness.” “If I have one, it’s you, Peanut,” Marcus says, his voice barely audible. I shake my head. I don’t want to be Marcus’ weakness. Just his strength.
Yo quiero peligro!

10% in and I already knew this was going to be my favorite in the Sinful Delights series. This was darker and had more on-page mafia action as well as smut scenes which I thought fit their profession and vibe better than the previous books. Though I do love all the sweetness of the relationships in the previous books, but THIS ONE??? THISSSSSSS was a perfect blend of cest, smut, dark, mystery/plot, possessiveness, and their own brand of love.
Overall, still a 5 star read. Really enjoyed this final book in the Sinful Delights series because it's definitely my favorite and had lots more sex scenes like I wanted in the previous 2 books. I'll be rereading this many times again in the coming weeks because it's that good. Drooolsss.
I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review. All opinions are my own and not influenced by the author.
Blood Bound by Odessa Hywell Five stars ✨ Excellent! I loved this book as much as the previous one. Odessa is absolutely one of my "don't think about it, just read the darn book" authors. This book is amazing, even if it does have some pretty violent scenes. So heed the triggers. I found the blood play and pain kink a bit hard to read at times, but this in absolutely no way pulled me out of the story or made me want to skim and skip those parts. The plot and world building is just so brilliant, it kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. Marcus & Holden are two very unique characters. Total psychopaths, but still lovable. Particularly Holden. He's an absolute hoot in his confident 'devil may care' approach to life. I just adored Holden. Really, without elaborating any more on the story, I'm saying, just do yourself a favour and read this book. It's worth a read and re-read! Highly recommended the book and the series. ° Can be appreciated as a standalone. ° Dual pov. First person present tense. ° Heat level: 5 🔥 for intimacy and violence (18+ only)
3.5 stars rounded up because I had a great time reading this despite any issues. Holden the murder twink and his Death Death Murder Murder squad were hilarious. I enjoyed his relationship with Marcus, which still had solid tension and interest despite being already established at the beginning of the story.
My only issue came from the plot being a bit complicated to follow at first. This is the first in the series, and I might have picked things up sooner had I read the previous two. (I know this is a me problem not necessarily a book problem, reading a series out of order). The plots aren’t very related, but I still felt like I was sort of just dropped into it and trying to figure out who was who and what was happening without a ton of exposition.
Overall I enjoyed it and would recommend. Mind the CWs, which are in the first few pages of the book as well as Odessa’s website.
People probably ask, "Can a Mafia/Murder book really be romantic?" Yes. Yes it can. Goodness me, this book was AMAZING! First of all, Murder Twink is my new favorite phrase. Secondly, this book was actually a lot more emotional than I was expecting and I loved it. Based off the previous books, I was expecting Marcus to be cold and cruel, but he wasn't. He was so loving and protective of Holden. Holden is a Sadistic little Murder Twink who is beyond loyal. His love of Marcus, Pain, and Murder is the perfect counterpart to his pint sized flamboyancey. I loved his IDGAF attitude and his flashiness. The entire dynamic worked and pushed them to being one of my favorite couples. Odessa, as always, wrote this in such a spectacular way that I'm already ready for a reread. 100% recommend!
I devoured this as soon as I got it and boy it’s good. It’s great. Murderous twink and his bad guy uncle. I love this bad boy mob world Odessa has created and how they blend. You actually forget it’s taboo and that having these relationships is a standard thing!! This is a dark story, a lot of blood play, beatings and hard sex but I ate it up. I actually love that the twink isn’t put in a “sassy” one dimensional box in this book, Holden is bratty but he is a stone cold killer and that really sets this book apart of the standard stereotypes. The plot was also great, really engaging and intense and nicely paced. Loved it. Recommend to those dark loving taboo lovers like me, no judgement here!
I totally and completely read all of these out of order so this was my first introduction to this series and I am HOOKED. This book was hilarious, absolutely HILARIOUS. I was cackling and snickering the entire way through it because Holden and Marcus are perfection in their craziness together. The spice was just top tier, as expected. Breeding kink is one of my absolute favorite things so to read about it here (all of her books really) was just the cherry on top honestly. I love the obsessive possessive behaviors by both men and how Marcus spoiled Holden by letting him go wild and crazy on people who dare to stop out of line.
Again, chefs kiss. Perfection. On to the second one!
Murder twinks FTW! Yaaasss, this is everything I wanted for Holden’s HEA: brutal, bloody, and kinky. “Our bond may exist because of blood, but blood is not what sustains us.” Mmmm, well I bloody love this book and want more. I flove that fiesty murder twink and his sass, even if he does frighten me a smidge. And Marcus, swoon, he may not be overly effusive but the ways he shows his love for Holden melted my heart. I adore them and the twisted bond they have. Holden and Marcus are hands-down my forever favorites in this amazing world.
I absolutely loved this age gap, contemporary romance with a side of BDSM.
This is the third book in the Sinful Delights series and although this can be read as as a standalone, I definitely recommend reading this in the series order for maximum enjoyment.
This book was dark, twisted and deliciously taboo.
Holden is femme but oh so very fiesty and keeps Marcus on his toes. The chemistry between them was sweltering and off the charts!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
If you love a dark romance laced with steam and kink, I definitely recommend this one.
Was an ok read. Definitely had a different feel than the first book. I didn't really feel the love connection between any of them. Lust certainly but not love. Even the brothers felt more like brotherly love than romantic love between them. Was a slower moving romance which is fine but you can't move at a snail's pace and expect us to believe everyone is in love in the last chapter of the book. I appreciate that the author used a lot less em dashes than they used in the first book. That was a big peeve of mine.
Saving his nephew from a life that looked similar to his own, Marcus opened his home and life to Holden. Even though their relationship changes with time, it’s lacking a deeper bond. When danger approaches and loyalties are tested, Marcus and Holden will have to work to repair their world by leaning on each other .
This was a low angst read, full of kinky play and some fantastic action packed scenes. This being the third book in the series, it does tie up well with all of the previous books. The cameo from the previous characters were great to see. With an engaging storyline and a satisfying HEA, this makes for an enjoyable read .
This series just keeps getting better and better. I didn't want this to end. It was sick, twisted, and sexy as F! Marcus and Holden were awesome characters with a great dynamic. Hoping to see more of them in the future. This story had a great plot and was really well written, thoroughly enjoyed it!
2.5/5.0 This was ok. Taboo sexual relationship. Lots of sex scenes, but not a real “romance.” There’s a lot of violence in this one. Both MCs are violent killers. Pain kink which is ok, and (not so playful) blood play which is not really my thing.
Man, I just did not enjoy this one likes I did the other 2. Maybe it’s cause I’m not a pain kink aficionado nor do I like brats…maybe it cause I’m definitely more into praise and cute and soft and whatever… but I just didn’t enjoy this one. I didn’t hate it. But I feel just ehhh about it.
