Students aren't the only ones who have to prepare for the first day of school.
The custodian turns on the lights and sweeps the hallways. Is it time for school? Not yet! The cafeteria workers wash tables and stack lunch trays. Is it time for school? Not yet! Teachers unpack supplies and organize their classrooms. Is it time for school? Almost! The students are on their way, on foot, on bicycles, and in cars and buses. Welcome, everyone!
A MUST-HAVE for the new kindergartener in your circle! This sweetly informative book helps show new kindergarteners about all the work that goes on behind the scenes to get ready for a day of school! Fascinating - what is the principal up to? The bus drivers? The teachers and librarians? Specialists, lunch staff and custodians? And the art is AWESOME! Kind of a modern take on Richard Scary's famous illustrations with so much to study and look at on each page as little ones participate and figure out what goes on in each scene. They will be totally READY for the big first day. :) HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
This book follows a morning routine of a typically school. It talks about all the behind the scenes of the start of a school day. Some examples are what the bus drivers do, what the custodians do, and what the teacher do before the students come to school. I can use this book in my future classroom towards the beginning of the year. It can teach my students about all the behind the scenes in a school setting.
This lovely book enumerates the many many tasks that must happen before the school doors ever open! It will get kids thinking about the many people involved in their everyday lives that they might not even realize are behind-the-scenes. Adorably illustrated with playful animals, this story will appeal to kids who like to ask how and why!
Too much telling and not enough showing which is a problem for a picture book. So many words without adequate context. Choppy and disjointed. Illustrations are bright and inviting, however.
