Old gods play their games & mortals lose. I made my bargain with the god of spring, but the Power only works in the mortal realm... it can't protect me from summer's cruel vengeance. To prove my worth, I’ll play her games. To keep my Easter Bunny, I’d sacrifice anything but the child I’ve yet to bear. To save my life, Jack will make any deal he has to. Sex is the old gods’ favourite currency. I only hope their price is one I can pay.
Dalia Davies fell into monster romance--almost by accident--and loves it here. She drinks her weight in tea every day and has been told on numerous occasions that she “knows too much”. She pairs old gods, monsters, and aliens with human women who get exactly what they want and maybe a little more than they came for. Brought up on fairytales read while hiding in the back stacks of her small-town library and sneaking in creature features at friends' homes, she always wanted a way to meld two fantasies into one. When not writing, she plays the banjo poorly, dreams of traveling the world, and avoids large crowds and loud noises. Living in the southwestern US, she lets the outside heat permeate her stories and hopes they leave you panting.
This is, of course, a pen name. It is one of many I write under. You can find my other works as: Andi Simms - Contemporary Romance Ava Lunaria - Paranormal Romance
3.5 stars. I wanted more from this premise after book one and surely got it here. In fact, it was a lot more than I bargained for. I got a full, near three hundred page story, with different gods and creatures playing these strange games with Lily. I guess because they're so bored being omnipotent that they need a lovely little plaything like her to entertain themselves? And, of course, there's quite a bit of sex in here. Not sure that'll spoil anything, because...well...did you read the title? There were some points that hit a bit of a lull, but overall the pacing was good. I did want some more variety in the old gods, as they all sort of came across very similar to me. They were all sex hungry, power crazed deities. Lily kept her integrity, as we were introduced to in the first story in this series, and both her and Jack have a really sweet ending together. I would have loved if the first two books had a bit more balance between them. Book one should have been a lot longer and book two should have been a lot shorter. I feel like some of the concepts here with the old gods could have been explored further initially, and the continuation could have built upon the already solid foundation that was established. But this was a really creative and solid effort by Dalia Davies, that was only a few steps short of being a similar quality of a Regine Abel story.
I still can't believe that's the title of this book.
Also, it gave me the same vibe as the last book I've read. It was different but man it couldn't hold my attention at all, except for that last scene with Minoka. That's fucked. Literally.
I’m going to openly admit that this story isn’t my usual cup of tea, but I drank this hot cup down so quickly I nearly burned my throat. Maybe I can get something minty to cool it down. IYKYK. Anyway. This is essentially a hoppy little wrap up to Lily & Jack’s story. Yes, it’s a journey of tasks and tricks with the Old Gods and their offspring, but it’s also just Lily doing everything she can to prove her love for Jack. If you enjoyed the first novella, but wanted a deeper dive into the different realms, the Gods, and the Power, then you will love the sequel!
We return to the Valley of the Gods to a recurring introduction to new gods, new realms, new magic, time travel, and story that’s overall very reminiscent of the story of Cupid and Psyche.
And also a surprisingly and deeply romantic love story between our main character and her Easter Bunny.
Jacks other mother, Juun, is PISSED!!!
No one got her blessing so now Lily has to do 5 impossible tasks in order to gain that blessing or die.
The various personalities of the gods shown are FASCINATING! They’re always fresh, never trustworthy, and wildly entertaining each time while also maintaining so many layers.
It’s brilliantly crafted erotica with some of the most fun and interesting fantasy elements I’ve read all year.
CW: explicit sexual content, brief moments of dubious consent, manipulation, toxic family dynamics, mentions of death, threat of death
3.5 rounded up This was very much an instalove situation, in a “I’ll do anything to be with you” kind of way. There was lots of sexy times with characters outside the main couple, which they did a lot of checking with each other on. Lily was fierce, determined, and utterly devoted to Jack. Jack was devoted to Lily too, but we don’t get to know much about him outside their escapades and his support of her through them.
Spice: 5/5
Triggers: Dubious consent (F consents, M thinks she doesn’t)* • Explicit unprotected sex with multiple partners • Human/non-human sex • Pregnancy (not plot relevant)*
i actually enjoyed that way more than i thought i would! i was just expecting a silly little book but it was actually really fleshed out i could tell the author put a lot of work into the story and all the characters and their backstories which made it so much more enjoyable. it was also less smutty than i was assuming it was gonna be, there was actually a lot of plot too which i appreciate!! still lots of smut ofc but a perfect amount of plot to balance it all out. cant wait to continue with the series! and no judging me
Never in my life will I speak of this again. Reading this didn't happen. It's embarrassing that I even read both books. I'm so embarrassed I wasted time on this. 1 ⭐️ and I'll let Tyra Banks explain it for me: “This is so bad I want to give you a zero, but that’s not possible, so I give you a one.”
I started reading this as a joke because our Easter (Orthodox Easter) is today. Let's just say that I'll need to chug holy water after this, and I'm an atheist!!! This book was DEFINITELY not my cup of tea, and I'm not in any way, shape, or form judging other people who liked it. The world-building was lacking so much (even though it had a good foundation), the magic system was never properly explained, and the creatures just kept getting weirder and weirder with no explanation of their magic. Don't even get me started on the 2 threesome scenes that were not just nasty in wording, but confusing as hell... 😶 All in all, I'll need to learn how to brainwash myself into forgetting I read this. No shade to the author, but a bit of shade at how the idea of rabbit p0rn came to mind.
I don’t get it, this world, because it seems all the gods present only want sex. like you’re immortal, and that’s all you want? to have sex with mortals? it’s v much giving Zeus. like do something else with your time please.
there are more books coming but honestly I think I’m done with the series haha
EDIT: just saw that swingers are listed as a tw. So this book just was never for me lol
First Thoughts: "Why is this one a full length novel, how much rabbit sex are we going to have here?
Last Thoughts: "Please continue the epilogue because I NEED to read that scene 🥵🔥💦 /j"
I kinda liked the worldbuilding despite how it was also a bit lacking but it was very Zeus-core of all the gods to be so obsessed with having sex with Lily and Jack. Two threesomes with old gods, one being enthusiastically consensual, the other being pressured (bargained) but not really dub or noncon. And an implied foursome in the epilogue WHICH WOULD'VE BEEN THE ONLY THING I'D HAVE LIKED TO READ TBH but it just faded to black 😭😭
Soooo safety wise this is not too safe at all, Jack is JP and reluctant to share Lily but does so because she consents to it anyway and yes I love a sex-pos queen and their somewhat Open Marriage but Jack felt like such a JP character, I expected him to beat the sh!t out of everyone who kept propositioning her and refusing to share her after he the public wedding sex he didn't even want to do (in book 1) so THAT'S my issue with this. Mans doesn't want to share his wife. He's one sexcapede away from making a throwaway account and ranting about his wife woes on the r/trueoffmychest, r/AskReddit, r/ARAD, r/OpenMarriage, r/AmItheAsshole, r/legaladvice subreddits. NVM they're swingers, it's not my cup of tea but it makes sense I guess...
And that's why this is getting 2 stars because idk man. No it's still got 2 stars LOL
The obvious nod to Dionysus, the satyr god of pleasure and hedonism, Diyo, was cool, and as much as the Minotaur knock-off Minoka was annoying and sleazy, I am absolutely eager to read a story about him finding love. Diyo I could care less but I think book 4 is about them-- they already got like a billion lovers who they keep if they fall in love with them SO LET MINOKA FIND SOMEONE TOO THANKS.
I'm actually a bit pissed off that there were some things we never learned in these two novels, like: - is the Valley the only place where there r humans, because there's gotta be others, right? And why is there modern technology if this is the only place the gods are at because I'm assuming the necessities which led to innovation wouldn't exactly work in this Alternative Universe then? - how did Ari get out of Cupid's monastery? - what makes Jack, the Easter Bunny, so "different" compared to the other old gods? Why isn't he going around messing with people's lives? Why is he seemingly powerless? Why does Ester send so many brides to him? Why are those women even bargaining with Ester anyway? - how do the masks protect people??
and finally, - What's up with Calico and Minx??? What's wrong with their contracts???
So, I assume the last question will be answered in another novel. But frankly, I'm not too consumed by this series to read another one. Maybe Minoka's if there ever is one, and Death's, which is the last book.
I was intrigued enough by Jack and Lily to want to read more about them. This was surprisingly very long, which ended up being kind of a bad thing. The story dives into the world a lot more and we are introduced to the different Old Gods and their kids. Lily's different tasks/trials got repetitive (we get it - you will do anything and anyone, but you love Jack) and I found myself skimming here and there. The author has a handy table of contents though if you want to skip those parts entirely and get to the sexy bits. Lots of fun times are had and fluids (so many different fluids) are exchanged, but I still can't figure out why every single person they encountered wanted to have sex with Lily and/or Jack. All the characters are consenting and active participants though, so who am I to yuck on their yum? After all the sexy times and different couplings, I was surprised that the author teased/faded to black a foursome where all the participants (FFMF) would have played. This sexy epilogue for Lily and Jack was overall entertaining, but I'm pretty sure I'm done with the Valley of the Old Gods.
CW's from the author: Dub con (FMC consents, M secondary character thinks she doesn't), explicit unprotected sex with multiple partners, human/non-human sex, pregnancy (not plot relevant)
OW/OM notes: Jack and Lily basically have an open relationship/marriage. They love and are committed to each other, but they have sex with others and/or share partners. If you don't want to see your main characters having sex with anyone else but the other main character, this probably isn't the book for you.

One fateful day in April, a group of us read Railed by the Easter Bunny. It was everything we could have wanted from an Easter themed short - but we wanted more. We launched a social media hunt for Dalia Davies to beg and plead for more.
Dalia DELIVERED. Sequel to the Easter Bunny is full of the world building we craved, the Gods we are rightfully hesitant to approach, and infinitely more smut than RBTEB.
This novel was transportive - I loved the journey Lily and Jack went through, proving their love to themselves and everyone around them. I am so excited for future books in this series because I’m not ready to take off my mask and return to the mortal realm.
Way too long. Book 1 was only 50 pages, why make this a 250 page book? Better balance could have been achieved. It would also solved the boring mid-section.
It's Easter Sunday here in NZ, well for a few more hours at least. :) Also my birthday and having earlier today, enjoyed new art of these wonderful characters, I enjoyed reading the 1st book again and then this. I loved Lily and Jack from the first book and this just got better and more exciting as the two work on their pathway to happiness. I loved the Gods you love to hate, but Lily proved smarter than they expected. Beating them at their own twisted games. It was fun and exhilarating reading their story.
This is my second read of this book and I enjoyed it even more the second time! The first time I read this I was struggling with paying attention to the lore and new characters and waiting for the two to just get their HeA. Now my second time around I can focus more on learning about their old gods world. Love it and can’t wait to read more from this land. It reminds me a lot of falling into wonderland with its topsy turvy time.
Lily and Jack have to complete a series of tasks from the old gods because Jacks mother is angry. It’s basically a series of fucking other major and minor gods. There’s marshmallow fluff flavored…stuff…and minty dark chocolate flavored…stuff…. Essentially lots of banging and banging more than just the Easter bunny. Lots of pairings, lots of queer rep.
Thus was way more plot heavy then the first book. The first was more a tease of what was to come. Lily had to prove her love for her God, and help the other gods along the way believe her intentions are pure, when they only see the greed of humanity. Well executed, and still with plenty of spice, it was an interesting read.
I enjoyed the first book, Railed by the Easter Bunny, as a quick smutty romp. I was looking forward to reading another book that explained that universe more fully, but all I got in this book was more confusion. There weren't any clear reasons for why the gods did anything and it was difficult to tell who was an enemy to the heroine and who could be trusted. The descriptors that kept coming to mind as I read this were "vague" and "floaty". I understand if a story is meant to be just a vehicle for sex scenes. If that is the case, though, then don't offer the promise of a rich, detailed world that ultimately will not be explained. The grammatical errors got worse as the story went along, as well. I may try reading the next book when it is released, but it won't be at the front of the queue.
it only took 260 pages to ruin all the little world-building nuggets from book 1... I knew I should have dnfed it when it took me 3 days to finish this but I am interested in the rest of the series and we pretty much meet the rest of the cast in this.
Now, I don't mind that the author basically uses the five tasks as an excuse for the main character to have lots of sex, it is that kind of romance after all but I am peeved at how there were no attempts to even hold up the facade that Lily was supposedly running the Valley now.
And possibly the worst part is that we were just meant to accept that Lily and Jack were madly in love after one night together and a month of absence??? This book left me cold.
I do not know how 120 pages felt like I read 400 and it was all one confusing, all-over-the-place mess.
Every page had me constantly going "what?" or "why?" or "who?". I had to go back a couple of pages and read again, trying to understand what I was reading and still not getting it.
I honestly enjoyed the short novella prior to this. This story tried SO HARD to be "different" but I may be too stupid to get it I suppose.
Tropes - Bargains and Wagers - Be careful what you wish for - Cruel, Tricky Gods - "I'll do anything to keep you safe." - Forbidden Love
📖 My Thoughts I honestly started reading this series for laughs, as a break from the serious and complex. It delivered, but it also delivered so much more. The hype for this is completely accurate, it was incredible! A bit of ancient Greek/Norse gods meddling vibes, with a bit of Alice in Wonderland made this such a journey. I love this FMC so much, she handles everything that comes her way with grace and a strong spine and keeps her goal at the forefront of her mind at all times. A perfect example of , "I will do anything for the one I love." Her determination and bravery are inspiring, especially considering the circumstances. The MMC is not to be disregarded either, he is so patient, caring, attentive, and willing to compromise to make sure FMC is doing well physically and emotionally. I also love the world this author has created, it's not overly complex or full of detail, but what we do get is a comprehensive feel of the settings. In a world of gods and magic, where everything is relative, vibes seem more important anyways. The only thing that really bothered me was there were quite a few editing issues, little things like misplaced pronouns, weird or missing punctuation, and stuff like that. I can forgive it because otherwise this was everything I wanted!
⚠️ Triggers - Dubious Consent (There are parts where sexual content takes place with an audience that's not really wanted, but is necessary, as well as some pairings that the FMC and MMC would not have joined into on their own without plot reasons. However, they do accept the circumstances and go into everything willingly, so...take that as you will.) - Graphic Depictions of Torture (One of the Old Gods is a sadist and casually torments men for fun, e.g. using them as furniture, stabbing, cutting, alternative crucifixion) - Pregnancy (FMC is 1 month pregnant throughout the book, however it's not really a focus, mostly just mentioned)
🏳️🌈Representation Many of the Old Gods are portrayed as bi-gender, agender, or even hermaphrodite. There's a general lack of care when it comes to everyone's bits, everybody just has sex with everybody.
🌶️ Spice I was really excited to see how the author would weave spice into this new full-length sequel and I was NOT disappointed. As someone who loves "why choose", RH, and poly, this was a really fun read. It felt a little like a sampler, as we got to see so many different pairings, positions, and interesting 🍆 . There's also a lot of descriptions of sexual decadence and hedonistic behavior. It's all fun and it's all well-written. Specifically there is MMF, MHF, exhibitionism and voyeurism, DP and anal. There's even a "Spice Menu" in the back of the book that works as a table of contents for the spice scenes, which is SO COOL. There's 8 in total, about 5 full blown.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🔥🔥🔥🔥.5 Tropes: MW, MMW, NBiMW, MM, NBiW, NBiM, Easter Bunny/mortal, special tasting 💦, special anatomy, human/non-human sex, sex with multiple partners, DP, a magical word (aka a safe word) is used and respected Series: Valley of the Old Gods #2
⚠️Check triggers⚠️
Lily has returned to the mortal realm after conceiving Jack's baby. Since he's the Easter Bunny, he's unable to go to her realm. She decides to go visit him in the Old Gods realm, but his mother intervenes. She tells Lily that she must complete five tasks in order to get her blessing or she will send Death for her. In order to complete her tasks to keep her bunny, she'll have to bargain with Old Gods, and their favorite bargaining tool is sex.
It's truly a crime that more people aren't talking about this book and how good it is. In this book, we get to visit more parts of both realms and learn more about the history. I was so intrigued by the different Gods, the magic of the realms, and how the various relationships played out. If you love Greek mythology, I promise you'll enjoy this book because it has similar vibes.
As much as I loved learning more about the realms, I absolutely adored everything about Lily and Jack. I loved their connection, especially with how much they wanted to be with one another and were willing to do whatever they needed to be together. They were great partners throughout the trials and consistently checked in with one another. Jack made sure that Lily always knew everything that happened with him, or others, was always her decision. I got tingles whenever he called her 'wife' 😍
The spice in this book is SO good! Whew some of these scenes had me in a chokehold. I love the scenes where Jack and Lily were with another partner. For one, the scenes were hot, but I also loved how connected Jack and Lily were in those moments.
The ending was perfect for them and they made me tear up. I'm so excited for the rest of the books to come in the series!
I am so happy to be back in my favourite fictional world!! I've missed Jack, Lily, Calico & Minx dearly, and to have them back and with MORE PAGES??? I feel spoiled!
Lily returns to the Old Gods realm because she missed Jack and really who could blame her? While Jack, Calico, and Minx may have been happy to see her, there is one person who was not, Jack's other mother Juun. Wanting Lily to prove herself worthy of Jack, Juun tasks Lily with 5 challenges she must complete in order to gain her approval or die... no pressure 😬
Throughout the story, we meet a diverse cast of characters who are equally endearing as they are mysterious, which perfectly sets up this world for future books about the other old gods in the realm. There was such a perfect balance of world-building, adventure, and character development to keep you hooked from beginning to end! There are so many elements within this story that you wouldn't think to put together like magic and time travel but it all fits and flows together so effortlessly, this world is easily one of my favourite places to be!
My only struggle with this series has been deciding whether to read the book right away or wait till the series is complete so I can binge-read it all at once! I love this series and these characters so much and I can't wait for the next installment! I highly recommend diving into this series, but make sure to check TW!
