The reign of the Alfur has ended. Talamh has been liberated. For once, humanity are the conquerors.

So why does Rydian Holt feel like they lost?

With the destruction of the Haze, Talamh has been revealed to the universe. But the realm beyond their world is not what Rydian and his fellows were told. The Alfur lied. It is not they who rule the galaxy, but humanity. Led by the autocratic Federation, their empire spans galaxies.

Returning to Talamh after six months training his powers, Rydian finds his former masters enslaved. Condemned to fight and die in the arena, few of the Alfur remain. Conquerors they might have been, but Rydian can’t help but wonder if this was the fate they deserved.

Afterall, some had helped him.

Some had saved him.

He can’t fight the Federation. Not alone. But there are still mysteries on his home world, powers that even the Federation fear.

Can Rydian Holt unlock the secret of their species’ shared past and finally bring peace between human and Alfur?

Or will his desperate gamble lead to the destruction of everyone and everything he has ever known?

Received as an ARC I am leaving my honest review. A gripping story of light and darkness. Humanity seems a vague word in this story of struggle for an alien Princess and her father. After a resistance effort did not go as planned and the two people who mattered most are imprisoned just for their differences, and the fact that they were draining light power from humans, a grim future is set. Drained of their power, weak and hungry they are forced to battle in an arena until death. Fate steps in and saves them. But who it is will surprise you and the plan he has sets the tone for a promise of freedom. Will it succeed? Be prepared for a long night of reading as the tension mounts and unexpected emotions arise.

The haze had been lifted and the Alfur had lost their rule over humanity, but they had lied, and when Rydian Holt left Talamh he found out that it was the Federation which was ruling the galaxy and what he saw about humanity's rule displeased him immensely. He returned to his own home and found the Alfur enslaved by humans, being made to battle to the death in the gladiator arenas and treated worse than animals, and he fought back for those who had once helped him. Namely Serena Levaanton, the once princess of the Alfur, who had fought in the arena by his side and was known as Rotin. However now she and all the rest of the Alfur had been deprived of their manus readers, and where starved of the Light they needed in order to live. When Rydian had been part of the rebellion, this was not what he had signed up for, he wanted a just world were both humans and Alfur could live together equally. However, his dream was not that of either the Federation or the rest of the rebels still in Talamh. Hazel who had declared herself queen, who he had once called friend and ally was against what he stood for, but Rydian would not bow down. He was adamant he would at least save Talamh though his aim was to bring about change for all in the galaxy. This the 3rd book in the Alfurian Chronicles is very powerful and I just love books whereby a character has a dream to change everyone's life for the better and if anyone could do this it is Rydian Holt.

A lot of the books I read are in the Fantasy or Science Fiction genre. I have complained in the past about not being able to read faster because a lot of the books in these genres are 600 to 1,000 pages long (or longer) and feels like it takes forever to finish off a lot of these great series.
Having said that - this book is relatively short compared to most so I should be celebrating right? I think this only took me a couple days and I only read for half hour at a setting at most. Well...not so fast. (spoiler alert coming)...Book 3 flips the whole balance of power of all the characters and races from books 1 and 2 upside down from the beginning. I mean literally from page 1. So it felt like maybe this final book could have been a little longer. It felt a little rushed like maybe he wanted to finish this series off and move on to the next one.
I will say I thought the twist was a good one, and the new character of General Colley brought in for this last book was great. I did like the direction he went with the finale...but it could have been a little longer. (sidenote...I also wish there was more material/history on Falcon)
I did like the series though and will be most likely finding another Aaron Hodges series to read in the near future!

Will the arena fighters ever be released find out by reading this epic book.

I’m sorry that this is the final book in the series because I’ve really enjoyed reading them. There were some surprising twists and turns in Conquest and the wrapping up of loose ends. I’m having a bit of a hard time writing this review because I don’t do spoilers. I find myself wanting to tell you what happened! It’s definitely worth reading. The characters and the plot compete for my top vote. I love when a book surprises me with something unexpected. Conquest is very well written and a great read. I received an arc of the book and this is my honest review.

Serena ,Heir to the throne of Goma was in trouble, as was her father, both in the dungeon as trailor's. To hide from the Federation, the Haze was made and trouble accrued from that. The story is intriguing and takes you to the people of Alfurian. The storytelling takes you into the heart of the matter. Friends, fighting, a mage and even love. Well Done!

He has helped them win but he does not feel like they had. He feels like something is wrong but cannot put his finger on it. What is going on? Will he find out? See if there is something else going on
