This one was a ton of filth, blood, and gore and I absolutely loved each original story each author wrote. Which honestly, all three of these authors have never disappointed me and are always an automatic buy and read for me.

Aron’s story was a story about what happens when you do mean memes for a living. A great gruesome story about revenge.

Kristophers’ story was about a woman with a weird fetish concerning penetration and body fluids. Ok, so this one REALLY interested me since what I do for a living relates to some of the things in this story. I do some phlebotomy, but mostly I play with blood, urine and other bodily for a living.

Daniels’ story is about a professional sanitation expert named *cough cough* Aron. It the kind of gross and squeamish stuff we love from Mr. Volpe.

The obituaries had me giggling like a school girl all day at work yesterday. I just couldn’t help rereading them and giggling some more 😜

This was a lot of fun and I am so excited they will be coming out with another one in October! These guys are the best at what they do!

The level of depravity in this book is off the charts. As I knew it would be. Three masters of the horrific, disgusting and disturbing came together to give us readers of extreme horror what we didn't know we were missing.

Gosh dang those were some brutal stories! Wonderful writing, as always, from these three gentlemen. I loved the themes of the stories. My favorite of the three was The Art of Trash by Daniel J. Volpe. I have a strong stomach, but that “trash water” 🤢🤢🤢. Ughhhhhh, I’ll never get over that. I could smell it. Nasty. Grab this little nasty novella and check it out if you haven’t already!

Beauregard, Triana, and Volpe are sick in the head writing this kind of stuff.. and that's why I love them so much!! Each story held what they promised in their title of sex, murder, art and there was plenty of each. I cannot wait for issue #2!! 5/5 gory skulls for the Obituaries 💀

What’s not to love about this one! For 3 shorts they packed a lot in! For me Daniel’s story stood out, that one made me screw my face up in disgust on a few occasions while reading! But all 3 were great stories.

This was a limited edition signed by all 3 authors and I was thrilled that I was able to get my hands on it. This book is graphic, violent, full of filth and gore. I loved it. I am really hoping that they release a 2nd issue. I already love Aron and Kristopher's work but this was the first time I read anything by Daniel and it wont be the last.

This is some next level shit. Absolutely disgusting, appalling, yet appealing. The book is limited to 350 copies only available through the authors websites, and it’s absolutely fantastic. The guys don’t hold back at all. This is a must have for extreme horror fans

It's always so hard for me to rate disgusting books because it feels really weird to say that I enjoy them when I'm grossed tf out, but impressed at the same time. These authors are fantastic! Can't wait for the 2nd issue. Highly recommend for fans of splatterpunk/extreme horror/shit that'll leave you thinking...'tf did i just read and why did i like it?'

The Boys said they weren’t holding anything back in this collection and they weren’t wrong! Absolutely fucked up and vile but so creative and artistically done! The obituaries at the back had me cackling! Congrats boys, you killed it!

I'm learning that splatterpunk isn't SUPER for me?
I like to be spooked not just say "yuck".

That said, while I didn't LOVE the first story, the second was excellent and the third made me genuinely go "ugh" a few times, which is rare.

This was fun. Glad I finally read it after having it sit on my shelf so long!

Three delightfully disgusting tales, spun with the power these three authors wield so proficiently. It seems effortless yet I know they all work so hard and the result is flawless. Killer meme + getting what you give + a “trashy end” = mind blown.

Beauregard, Triana, and Volpe deliver exactly what they promise in the inaugural issue of The Obituaries. Three depraved stories, complete with illustrations, that deal in sex, murder, and art which just may leave you saying ‘these boys need Jesus’. Issue 1 is sold out, so consider this review your reminder to keep an eye on for issue 2.

I had read a few books by Aron before and his story in this one certainly did not disappoint, I still giggle from it... The story from Triana in this was my first from him, same with Volpe. First, Kristopher, this was my favorite read from this volume, it was dark and seductive and relatable to a degree. I'm an instant Triana fan! Then there's Daniel, what a weird story that was both repulsive and satisfying. It was a gross tale that makes me wonder what he sits and thinks about in his spare time, haha. All three are excellent writers and I really am glad to have been gifted a copy of the omnibus because I am eager to read the next two! If you want it depraved and without limitations, this is a quick read that should suit you.

Is this for everyone? Definitely not. Is this a great piece for fans of extreme horror? Yes.
The first thing I think of when I think of this illustrated collection is "creative". The tales within this limited release are unlike anything I've read before.
Aron Beauregard managed to give his characters a level of depth that was unexpected for a short story, as well as providing impactful imagery and questions about society. He also managed to have both an opening and ending with a twist that bites.
Kristopher Triana brought to the table a beautifully written - yet terribly disturbed tale - of desires gone wrong. I admittedly skimmed and skipped over parts of this one, due to personal traumas and triggers, but the concept for his story was fascinating and the ending was something that I didn't see coming.
Daniel Volpe's story dealt with desire as well, but in a very different fashion. If you like gross horror: you'll love this. Brutal yet written from the perspective of the unnatural... The starting concept of this one was not something I imagined coming across.
Lastly: the author bios were incredibly fun, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading Volpe's out loud to my bald father.

More specified trigger warnings below, listed by story (apologies in advance if I forgot any - these are just the ones that I can remember):

Loved all three short stories. Really good and effective storytelling in these short stories. None of the stories disturbed me or shocked me, but I'm probably desensitized from how long I've been consuming horror and my mind works in weird ways.
The Aron Beauregard story is essentially about revenge and the lesson that what we do to other people truly can affect their lives in ways we nevered imagined. It also shows the desensitization of people when it comes to certain content. There was one part that made me think of a certain scene in the pilot episode of House of the Dragon, iykyk.
Kristopher Triana's story is about a woman with a bloodletting kink, well more like obsession. The short story does a wonderful job of taking us from her being a bit shy about it to her always wanting more. It shows what happens when someone is obsessed with something dangerous and because of their obsession won't really listen and will do horrible things in order to get what they want.
Daniel J. Volpe's story is about a man who is an artist of garbage. The man, Aron, finds beauty in what others find repulsive and disgusting. He is sexually attracted to the stench and filth as well. There was one part where I actually started singing, in my head, a song from Family Guy, again if you know you know. I don't know what exactly that says about me, but it's what happened.
Like I said, I loved all three of these short stories. I'd really love to talk to these three one on one and pick their brains apart about where they come up with some of these ideas.

Obituaries Issue 1 by Aron Beauregard, Kristopher Triana, and Daniel J. Volpe was a perfect bit of extreme horror goodness to spend an evening with.

This collection of three unsettling stories focuses on themes of sex, murder, and art.

People who have followed AB’s podcasts over the last couple years will appreciate the last portion of his brutal offering, The Unbecoming. This story has laughs and brutality in spades as well as a twisted type of morality.

KT’s sanguine soaked story, Bloody Mattress Blues, is as stark and transgressive as it is titillating. He’s a master of combining sex and horror on the page in a way that is not gratuitous, but artfully relevant.

DJV’s contribution, The Art of Trash, has the razor wit, gallows humor, and in-your-face viscera that his readers have come to love in his storytelling. Along with this just being an all around good story, there are some passages that would probably win a gross out competition.

Really looking forward to issue 2!

Ok, the blood, the gore was off the charts. Aron, in the past you have made me regret eating while reading one of your books, but with this one, that honor goes to Daniel J. Volpe. Daniel, your story *wretch*, your story *cough*…….*spit*……*deep breath*…..dude, WTF is wrong with you?!, LMAO!!!! That was the most disgusting, vomit inducing thing I have read in a lil while. Now Aron, your story definitely got the fire picture perfect. Definitely brutal, with each word I could see everything. Revenge can be so sweet and with your words also twisted and messed up. Kristopher, your story, definitely twisted, but chilling, because there are people out there like this. In fact all the people in this book could be walking among us right now.
And who wouldn’t love the obituaries. They were awesome, I was laughing out loud. Can’t wait for issue 2!

*I'm not going to give you the 'what this book is about' blurb - you can read that elsewhere.

1. I knew I was going to like this book, I just didn't realize how much!
2. These are 3 of the biggest names in the independent horror game right now, with good reason, and this collection drives home why. 3 short stories which, collectively, only come in at 78 pages. I'm sure you're thinking, "Okay, well, how much can they really pack into that?" The answer is A TON. The brutality and gore level is insane, but it's not just the sheer WTF factor - these stories are also loaded with plot, good characters, and some good ol moral lessons; it is splatterpunk after all 😜
3. There were some gag inducing scenes (lookin' at you, Volpe), so if you've got a weak stomach, just know you may have to put this down for a few minutes to collect yourself.

Spoiler-free

The Obituaries is a LOT of WTF in a small package. I quickly lost count of how many times I said 'jesus' out loud. This is a good thing.

Briefly, the stories here cover the consequences a teen faces for playing it a little too fast and loose with her smartphone, a fetishist who pays a dear price, and a different fetishist who, in an oddly optimistic way, pays no price (at least not in the immediate sense).

These guys definitely got me with the autographed and individually numbered extremely small run of this, but it's an amazing collection. I can't wait to see where they take this series, and I plan on getting each issue.

Also, well done on the cover referencing each story in a single image 🤘

Book review: the Obituaries issue 1
By Aron Beauregard
Daniel Volpe
And
Kristopher Triana

Solid 5 stars, for all 3 short stories!!!

All 3 stories had me wishing they'd never end. I wanted more and more. The story by Aron was first: it was gorey just like I love them! The way he detailed every moment was amazing.
The second story, by Kristopher, wasn't as gorey but had every bit as much detail. It had more of a "weird kink" vibe instead of gore but was just as good! The third, by Daniel, was just plain gross lol I could see the sights and smell the smells and...phew! I'm glad I've got an iron stomach. :)

If you like extreme horror, I HIGHLY recommend this book - if you can find it, that is ;)

Three twisted stories that make you wonder…
The first story involves a teenage influencer, but how far are they willing to go to become famous?
The second story invites you to an underground sex party of dark desires.
The third story brings you into a day filled adventure of not so normal works of art, they say one man’s garbage is another man’s treasure.

I’m not sure why I enjoy such twisted tales of horror, but these guys know how to keep ya hooked! Im definitely looking forward to the next issue!

3 fantastic stories by 3 fantastic authors in one book! It doesn't get any better than that! Not to mention 3 of my favorite authors.. which is the cherry on top :)

Aron Bauregard's story is about a meme. And what consequences it can have.
Kristopher Triana's story is about a sexual kink. And how far would you go for it and how deep can it drag you.
Daniel J. Volpe's story is about trash. Literal trash and how some people really grow up to love it.

I am not in the habit of writing reviews or anything else for that matter. For this one I will make an exception. I loved this one. All three stories are well written. The splatter is on point. My only complaint is that I wanted more, and I'm sure that I will get it with future issues. Keep up the great work.
