Half an hour into the future. A young percussionist leading a successful band hits the creator’s block and begins craving a famously lost beat that he thinks could help him. A peculiar wealthy man that knows a way of retrieving the old piece approaches him. The rich man tries convincing him to attempt a weird ritual. After first being reluctant, he finally decides to give it a shot. He soon discovers that the odd ceremony isn’t what he expected.
First of all, many thanks to the writer for sending me the manuscript. Moss Portal was a short story that I quite enjoyed. I like how each character clearly has its own personality, and how Nollo risked much purely out of curiosity and to become a world-famous musician. The story sets in a strange modern world, which god forbid, may become our own near future, being controlled by robots and drones wherever one goes. I certainly did not expect the twist in the end.
