After a vicious battle, the body has finally subjugated ghastly cancer. But the damage has been done. Sensing weakness, bacteria and viruses attack the body. Distrust and confusion pit cells against one another. Can the body do what is necessary to create a healthy environment and avoid cancer's recurrence? The grief and horror of Cells at CODE BLACK reach their dramatic climax in this, the last volume of the series!
I don't think I really wanted a happy ending for this series. This is supposed to be the depressing version. I felt more could've been explored with a dire ending, but gotta give people some hope too I guess?
The cover for this volume was a bit confusing given how things resolved in the previous volume, but the core story was pretty good. We're now following the body in recovery from some rather aggressive cancer treatment and everything is still in flux as the body heals. The host is definitely taking steps to get better, but there's a LOT of damage that has been done.
They managed to squeeze in a few more character stories alongside the efforts to tell readers more about the complications that can arise even after cancer is sent into remission. Pretty good stuff.
RATING: 5/5 If you like Finales, Regulatory T Cells, and Avengers level Team ups you may like Cells at Work! Code Black Vol 8.
QUICK REVIEW A fantastic action filled finale to the series. If you have been following the series along this is a must read as we complete everyone's story arcs and character development. You definitely do not want to miss out on this finale.
REVIEW The final volume is a wonderful send off to this series and I will have to say I am going to miss this series. Loved that we had a much more dramatic and high tension story unline the original series. I loved the character development and how we get to see each character grow and change throughout the story. The ending sequence was great with a fantastic team up of cells. This volume is a solid 5/5 and the entire series as a whole I would give 4.5.
