Dawn of the Watchers

Rate this book
ONCE AGAIN, protecting Laris, the prophesied 'ONE' is left to Jinx, an impulsive superpowered 18-year-old who has never followed a single rule.

Yeah, sure, she and Jacob managed to save Laris from the first threat, but that was yesterday.

Today, Jinx is still trying to work out the kinks in her newly-acquired powers, settle into hero status, and navigate her feelings for Laris.

With showboating kingpins looming, hazardous nanobots swarming, and questionable 3D meals to choke down, the quest to save organic life isn't showing any signs of easing up.

Luckily, a flirtatious, shape-shifting bartender and a tentacled adolescent alien join this band of futuristic beatniks. Even with Jacob and Claire's unrivaled geekery, Jinx could use the help. Turns out there's way more to this reality to puzzle out.

And life was already getting pretty weird.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Who is Winn? Hmm, let me put it this way—she had to spell-check the word “genius.”

Then she searched for its antonym, which yielded a long list of hilarious terms, among which included “scientist,” according to wordhippo.com.

So… Winn is a scientist who is often uncertain about whether the English alphabet includes 24 or 26 letters. And despite her challenges with arranging them correctly, she weaves them into highly-imaginative, metaphysical Sci-Fi adventures.

Quirky, Fast-Paced Cyberpunk Sci-Fi Fantasy

This is the second book in the New World Chronicles. I didn’t read the first book and still really enjoyed the story and characters. It is a good romp as Jinx, a super powered 18-year-old is trying to get control of her newly discovered powers and be okay with the mantle of hero while exploring her feelings for the prophesied Laris. There are no end of clever tales within tales in the story. In this story Jinx is on the run and headed to Earth with her ragtag group of friends. Enjoyed the minor characters and the unique characters in the story. Claire and Jacob are the geeks of the story. Handy, a 500 year old mystic is helping Jinx control her strength and teleportation. In the story Jinx deals with power hungry kingpins, nano bots as she tries to protect organic life. Fun read. The story will keep you guessing. Very cyberpunk feeling to it.

This was a fun book full of action. Sometimes it's nice to read for good old fashion escapism and this series has it in spades. With regards to Jinx, I think the way her character is developed adds a nice touch. Mostly, you see characters who want to develop and dive into their positive growth headfirst. Not Jinx. She fights the whole way. I definitely plan to read the third when it comes out. Keep up the good work. :)

This is a fun sci-fi sequel with good characters. I liked Jinx, especially how she grows and the chemistry between her and characters like Jacob. Great dialogue and witty banter that I found humorous at times, which is always a plus. The story itself was immersive and original. I recommend this book to anyone who likes science fiction.

Second book

This is the second book, so go and get the first one if you didn't. A unique blend of Science Fictional and Spiritual that ends with a twist.
