Sebastian is a cryptomorph, a lab-created creature blending the DNA of man and beast. He is not a man. He is an object. A pet. A product. This is the story he’s been told, but his heart tells him it’s a lie. The truth is out there somewhere, and if he can escape from the Countess and the Community that wants to breed more golden dragonels like him, he might be able to find it.Christopher is a veterinarian tasked with the care of the dragonel, and he’s not supposed to see the man behind the dragon. Sebastian calls to a part of him that he thought was long dead, and he would do anything for him now.Anything but tell him the truth."Dragonel" is a M/M dystopian science fantasy intended for mature audiences. Not suitable for anyone under 18 years old.
Not really sure how I feel about this one. It was definitely a dark non-con story with a lot of twists and turns.
In fact a majority of the book was rape and despair...
Honestly... it wasn’t thrilling or nail bitting... I thought it dragged on and on and I started skimming towards the end. It also ends in a cliff hanger which we never enjoy but often have to deal with.... maybe I will pick up the next one? Or maybe I will just read the spoilers to see what happens...
An attempt at dark sci-fri fantasy that felt clunky, overdone, and unfinished. There was a glint of potential and ambition in the first few chapters, but they were quickly overshadowed by stagnant plot progression and dull predictable characters.
The whole book was dragged out with pages of tasteless torture for the sake of torture porn and a whole lot of filler only to end with a cliff-hanger, leaving behind an unfulfilling and tasteless experiences. I feel like this entire book could have condensed in 50 or 100 pages, and still leaves space for the rest of the story to be told. And that would have a been a more bearable experience.
I get that this book is supposed to be a set up for the main characters, and for them to bond with each other. But instead of spending time, investigating the character emotion, what we got instead was a string of bleak and bland events and tortures that only made me waiting even harder for the climax, only to be denied of the cliff-hanger. I get that it was meant to be a series, I really do. But an installment of should have warp up an arc of the story while still keep enough open for the next, not denying the reader the ending and hope they will pick up the next for it.
This was great. Not super extra amazing but not “I am so bored I am going to die” either.
A warning though, it contains rape, dubious consent, “human” experimentation, forced pregnancy, extreme physical abuse bordering on torture, abortion and that’s all I can think of. Also it ends on a cliffhanger. (DAMN YOU to all authors that are on this cursed trend)
I also, personally, I am not sold on the whole Sebastian and Christopher relationship? Sebastian doesn’t remember who he is and Christopher is on a much higher social standing than Sebastian (Christopher practically owns him and is the one in charge of extracting Sebs sperm by no consensual means so they can use it to breed more Dragons). There is a power imbalance from the very beginning and it doesn’t scream romance and love to me.
Christopher is a demon and a scientist 100% so a bunch of the cruel and inhumane things he does he either doesn’t even notice he’s doing them or he hides behind the good old excuse of “is research!” So you can grow to be irked by him a little.
Sebastian, I don’t know how to feel since during the entire book he doesn’t really know who he is so his personality could be so much difference than what we see right now.
I think the Countess could have been a bad ass bitch (in a good way) but they had to make her a villain. She makes a great villain though.

I'm a newbie when it comes to reading only a M/M, but Tiegan had me loving it. I was intrigued by the dystopian storyline and characters were beautifully written. I adored the interactions and dynamic between the two males and I can't wait to see where Tiegan takes their story. It was intense, hot and completely encompassing. It's one of those books that will surprise you, in the best of ways 😊
I’m so glad to have discovered this author. It’s sometimes hit or miss when I read something by an unfamiliar writer (unfamiliar to me). So when I find a book I can’t put down until the last page, I make sure I ring the “reader’s bell” to other avid readers.
The story’s protagonists are Sebastian and Christopher. Sebastian is a dragonel which we are told is a half dragon/ half human hybrid created in a lab. Christopher is the son of the countess who is an evil sadistic creature. The very powerful countess owns, breeds, and sells others similar to Sebastian according to her whim. As the story unfolds, the truth behind every character is slowly revealed. The story in this volume continues in volume 2.
Ms. Clyne is brilliant in her development of the characters and she keeps us guessing as to what is going on, to the very last page. I can’t wait to read the next book...which fortunately is already published. Kudos to the author.
WOW. Just, wow. I hadn't previously read anything by this author, but I am SO GLAD I read this. The dystopian edge was gritty and definitely a change of pace for me but I loved stepping out of the "normal" box. The m/m aspect was also a delicious change of verbal scenery. I will point out that the darker scenes do have triggers that may affect other readers, but I personally had no problems with them. I can't wait to see what happens in the future for Christopher and Sebastian.
Interesting Story but Series on Hiatus Indefinitely
I got really into this series over the past few days. Really interesting storylines and world building, and I’ve been looking forward to seeing how everything ends.
However, the story ends in a cliffhanger at the end of the third book and I don’t think it’ll be picked up again anytime soon. I really hope this isn’t the case, but the author said 2 years ago they’re on an indefinite hiatus from writing unfortunately. Just be aware before reading.
Awful awful writing, too much “he” and “his” it becomes too repetitive and annoying to read. Grammar and vocabulary should be worked on before publishing this shit. Like. He was happy, he was sad. He didn’t like it. His body cold. What’s with all the he’s ? Writing feels like it’s written by a pre adolescent teenager
3.5 stars I like slave fic, and sci-fi, and while I liked this book, it definitely left me feeling uncomfortable. I’m sufficiently invested in the story to continue but I doubt the declarations of love. I hope future books resolve some of my questions.
TLDR: Introduction to a new sci-fi/fantasy series. This is a fast-burn MM with both hot explicit erotica and a solid storyline. I enjoyed this story and definitely recommend it. If you are opposed to MM sex, explicit erotica, or consensual S/M, then this probably isn’t the book for you.
ARC: I received an ARC in exchange for giving an honest review. I also purchased a copy of the book.
Release date: November 16, 2019.
Technical stuff: This story is the beginning of a sci-fi/fantasy series. There is explicit sex, almost exclusively male-on-male in the story line, as well as power-exchange and other elements of BDSM lifestyle. There are some factors in the story that may be disturbing or triggering: being held against one’s will, forced orgasm, military raids, objectification, male-on-male sex. If these bother you, then perhaps this isn't the book for you.
The story is told in third person, primarily from the Dragonel’s perspective. There is cliff-hanger ending. It stands alone as a story but does not feel complete at the end of the first book. Opinions and overview of story (with minimal/no spoilers): In a dystopian future, the world appears to be split between the five cities and the Badlands (pretty much everywhere else). The central character, the dragonel, awakes with no memory and being tortured by forced orgasm. In this future, genetic manipulation has been taken on extremes, with sentient beings treated as pets to be used and bred. There are tantalizing dreams that may be memories, leaving the dragonel wondering about his past. The experience in this society and trying to unlock the missing past create a riveting story, and engaging beginning of the series.
I enjoyed the story, the sex scenes are hot, the emotions and relationships are both complex and corresponding depth. I was left wanting to know what happens next; I recommend reading this book.
Let me start by saying that I love reading books about dragons. I have never read full book of MM before. So this was different for me and I have to say that it was well written and I did enjoy reading this book.
So this book just jumps right in and I was like WOAH AND LIKE THAT WAS HOT BUT CRUEL! So needless to say I was captivated within the first chapter and could not put it down til the end. So we find Sebastian who is in a facility that does some shady stuff. Sebastian does not remember how he came to be there and cannot remember who he is. But he does get some dreams and knows that what he is being told is a lie. So what is really going on? He meets Christopher who is a veterinarian, but is he really? There is an attraction there however Sebastian is not sure how he is suppose to feel. Since he has no memory and is having a hard time trusting the people he is around. The horrors and degradation that Sebastian endures just breaks me. His determination to escape and be free is his goal. His journey is torturous and sometimes hot. The ending though rocked me and I my mind was blown. I honestly can say that I cannot wait to see what happens next in this series. I am a forever fan of Tiegan Clyne.
I loved this book!! It’s full of MM, sex slavery, and plenty of triggering materials for some readers so be warned. The world the author has built is unique, twisted, and very detailed. The plot is creative that actually has me questioning who Sebastian should trust. After reading the book, I don’t know if I want Sebastian to be with Christopher or the man from his dream memories.
It is apparent that Sebastian is not a lab grown dragonel that the Countess wants him to believe but a kidnapped prince from a different kingdom. With Sebastian’s lack of memories, it is hard for the reader to readily pick which side they should root for...at least that is how it is for me. I liked the air of mystery and intrigue that the author weaves into this story. Nothing is set in stone and things are somewhat ambiguous.
I loved this book and highly recommend this for people who enjoy steamy MM, BDSM, and creative and unique world building. I cannot wait to read the next book.
Incredible dark MM romance. I need Jesus to purge me after reading this hot baby!
Such an amazing book that literally dragged me in from the first page. There was so many twists and turns that left me speechless. I didn’t expect that ending. I also didn’t expect to stay up until 5am reading this but here I am!
It’s a dark MM fantasy romance with scifi elements.
Tiegan Clyne is an incredibly talented author.
MM charts better watch out because this author is going to be taking them by storm. Seriously. If you want a hot, dark, complex book with well rounded characters and a super unique plot that’ll get you hooked, read this. You won’t be disappointed. And I heard the author is already working on book 2 - yay!
I'm struggling to decide if I want to read the next book. While the plot itself was relatively interesting, albeit incredibly painful, the relationship between Christopher and Sebastian makes absolutely no sense. And this is coming from a person who loves enemies to lovers and forced relationships. There was absolutely no reason for Sebastian to care for Christopher, and no reason for Christopher to care for Sebastian. If the book had taken a little time to develop a romance i would be a lot more invested, but as it stands I'm not interested in Christopher and Sebastian as a couple; and if I decide to read the next book I'll be rooting for this new guy even though theres like a 99% chance Sebastian will end up with Christopher.
This was quite the dark romance and I loved it. Sebastian is a gold dragonel who can't remember anything about himself after having his mind wiped. His dreams give us clues into his past but it conflicts with the information everyone else knows about him. Christopher is the doctor who is oart of the problem but ends up falling for his charge. Both are enslaved to the countess. This was dark, broody, and very, very sexy. That ending was quite the cliffhanger and I've got to know more!
I love MM, I love paranormal, and I like dark romances provided that they aren't just pure torture. I had a hard time rating this one just because some of the scenes are a bit overkill. However, I will say that even with the scenes that are a bit much there's still a story line and the darkness does contribute to the effect. We get an incredibly clear view of how cryptomorphs are treated and let me tell you, it's not pretty. There are many scenes that could be triggers for some because there is dubious consent but it somehow works. I look forward to book 2.
Holy cow I seen this authors WIP's on this book for about a month before it come out and I've been so looking forward to it, and this author did not disappoint. This book is devastatingly hot and sad at the same time...the author blew me away with the character development of this book. There were times I felt like I was sitting in captivity with Sebastion. Other times I felt like I had a front row seat to the M/M in this book and for that I'd personally like to thank the author lol
Dragonel is the first book in the Cryptomorphs series. This book sets the stage for a society based on cruelty and fear. Is it hot? Yes, like seriously hot! But it’s also a haunting story of protecting one’s identity and self while experiencing great psychological violence.
I’m certainly on the edge of my metaphorical seat, waiting so see what happens next.
This book was so freaking hot. This was my first time reading a strictly M/M story, typically I’m a RH with a little M/M thrown in. This was not a book for the feint, it’s a dark story that sucks you in. Sebastian has no memories, believing he was created in a lab. Christopher is his doctor/master with his own complex story. Together they are combustible. The consensual and non-consensual scenes will make you bite your lip. Definitely five stars!

I got this book as an ARC and well decided by the cover... normally I don't read M/M romance often. But man that was an awesome book. It was hot it was sad and infuriating. Sometimes I would love to smack a character and weep with another. The characters are deep and interesting. The story is well written and has captivated me from the first page. The master and slave theme was also steamy and hot. Hope the next part will be out soon, can't really wait.
This book was amazing. Sexy MM action, dark, bondage, slave and master and an amazing mystery that is slowly revealed. I couldn't put this book down, which as my first MM, I was pretty impressed by! Strange and mysterious creatures held and bred by even more mysterious and powerful creatures, this blew my mind with the development of the story and an amazing main character who is suffering from amnesia, so learns about himself as the reader does. Highly recommended!
This is a fast burn paranormal sci-fi M/M book. The story quickly ramps up and brings you up to speed on what has happened to our main character Sebastian. I enjoyed the darker aspects of this book, along with not having the full backstory just given to you a few chapters in. I’m interested to see if more of Sebastian’s memories return as I have my suspicions as to whether he was truly lab created or not.
Holy mackerel, this book is hot hot hot!! It'll have you in all the feels. Pulling you this way and that way. The adult scenes are spectacular and sensual but there are also rough ones that are like the cherry on top of this man sundae. An amazing book and cannot wait until the next one!
I have to say that this was an outstanding book!! It's steamy, with a story that hooks you in and you just can't put the book down❤❤!! The characters are unique and different but amazing and the story was written so perfectly it just flows!! I'm dying to read book 2 and find out more of our Hunk!!! I truly recomend this book to everyone!
Omg this book. Isn't your typical shifter book. It fantastic and full of all kinds of creatures. The MM is delicious and that ending what a shell shocker. If you love you unique dragons and original story line with hot MM you are going to need this book.
This isn't my typical genre but I love this authors work so figured I'd give it a try. It was great! I was hooked from the very beginning. I really enjoyed the unique storyline and the characters were intriguing & well developed. The author did an amazing job at creating such an interesting world.
This was one hell of a fantastic, raw, intense, gritty, gripping, enthralling, deliciously dark, definitely different, smoking hot, more twists and turns than a roller, and totally awesome thriller. It had me hooked from the very first page, and I can't wait to see what happens next!
Very good story. Loved this storyline. First book I've read from this author and she did so not disappoint. Very very hot and steamy. Lots of m/m . I'm seriously looking forward to reading the next book.
