3 stars for Rejected by the Kagethi Lord by Starr Huntress, Ava York. The cover grabbed my attention immediately and I loved the premise of this story.

Thanks to a treaty between Earth and the Kagath people Prince Nafaria Reo ch'Dana Reo has been matched to Nina, a human woman from NY. She is sent across the galaxy to meet her prince but things do not go as planned when the teleportation device goes awry and beams her in the middle of the jungle. Prince Reo comes to her aid but she mistakes him for a palace guard.

Reo tries to keep Nina at a distance in an effort to protect her and even goes as far as publicly rejecting her. Despite this Nina is determined to make the best of the situation. I loved Nina's attitude toward Reo's rejection. Yes, she was hurt but she didn't get angry. Instead she decided to embrace the journey. Reo truly wants nothing more than to claim Nina as his forever mate but he has too many enemies. He's a big ball of fur and frustration! I thoroughly enjoyed the push and pull between these two.

This was a fun and moderately paced story that held my attention throughout. The world building is easy to visualize. Minor errors/typos but nothing too distracting IMO.

Dual POV - Nina and Reo
Spicy and descriptive, vanilla
No cheating, sharing or ow/om drama
No virgins
Violence - battle scenes

The very air I breathe

Give up your entire life to support your people by relocating to another planet, check. Meet some of the locals, check. Have your match renounce you in front of everyone, check. Wait! What just happened? That might be how the story started, but it is by no means the way it ends. The author slowly built up the characters making them so easy to connect to and feel like you were trekking through the jungle with them. Then she threw in some action, and danger, and almost dying, a little betrayal and the story quickly morphed into a book I gladly lost feeling in my legs because I couldn’t stand the thought of putting it down. This book was amazing and I can’t wait to see who the next lucky couple is.

I stuck it out way longer than I normally would because I’ve been waiting for this to come out ever since I saw the awesome cover art but this books was just so incredibly mediocre.

To start with the conflict is so contrived and not remotely realistic, the MC only decides it’s too dangerous for a mate after she arrives?? And then the romance itself just isn’t there. The characters spend a lot of time thinking about how attracted and drawn to one another they are but there’s nothing in their interactions to really indicate a connection. The whole story felt like a rejected mate rip off.

Khajiits meet sci-fi meet smut meet mate shenanigans meet tedious plot.

It was okaaaay. Just, really it could've been better. I got bored halfway in and I couldn't feel any chemistry between Nina and Reo. Books like these tend to focus on sexual chemistry instead of actual chemistry, which makes their interactions feel a little bland. Yeah the author sums up the progress of their relationship, but... that's what takes away the fun in reading about them. You want to SEE the development with your own two eyes, see them slowly get more and more attracted to each other. A paragraph mentioning them talk about diverse topics isn't what will convince me.

I liked the concept but that's about it. I might try book 2 when I feel like it.

Nina + Reo

Nina is matched with Reo and zapped to his alien world, but accidently lands in the middle of the jungle. A reluctant hero who pushes his fated mate away for her safety, some political intrigue, and alien dogs. Was so pleasantly surprised with this one, really want to continue the series!

¡Le falta tanta pasión a este libro!
Y no estoy hablando de sexo,

Bastante plano para tener tanto potencial la trama 🤔

DNF 86% I really wanted to like this book. But I started noticing little by little the author's political views. As if somebody who is biracial, I know what it's like to have people constantly ask you "what's your race?", "Who are your parents?"I know the feeling of not fitting in in either world. I want to read to escape reality for a couple hours. I know racism is bad I think the world knows racism is bad. And I know that there are bad people out there. But I want to read a book with NO POLITICS!! IF I WANT TO READ ABOUT POLITICS I'D PICK UP A RAG LIKE THE NEW YORK TIMES. I had a few other little twerks about the book. I felt it was like a cheap soap opera at times and I didn't really feel a connection between the two. As another reviewer said it felt like a rip off version of a rejected shifter novel. Also the female character got on my nerves just a bit. And the sexy scenes were kind of low steam at least in my opinion they were. So here's a piece of advice authors, LEAVE THE POLITICS OUT OF YOUR BOOKS

Written in first person by AVA YORK & STARR HUNTRESS, REJECTED BY THE KAGETHI LORD is the first book in the KAGETHI WARLORD BRIDES series and switches between the perspectives of Prince Nafaria Reo of Shining Falls, Kagath and Nina of Earth. The series is set in a time where alien life has been established, and The Madfeal alliance saved many planets and species from the Suhlik, in exchange for mates for their Intergalactic warriors.

Prince Nafaria Reo ch'Dana Reo was the prince of Shining Falls, Kagath. His species was part man, part cat, with him specifically resembling a lion. He was one of the warriors of the Madfeal alliance who was rewarded with a human mate, Nina. Unfortunately, he had traitors in his midst, purists who hated the idea of crossbreeding with lesser species and refused to accept being led by a half breed. That danger had Reo refusing his match, demanding that his mate Nina return to Earth.

Nina, the youngest of six siblings and a dog walker, wasn't excited about leaving Earth to become a Madfeal bride. During transport, she was teleported to the middle of Kagath's jungle instead of the palace, where Reo met her. He treated her poorly and pushed her away. A delay in leaving Kagath gave Nina the opportunity to become close with Reo's mother Queen Lora, and time to explore the beautiful scenery of the planet. She also became attached to the barakus, which were dog-like creatures with scales. One in particular she named Max.

First intercourse took place at the 62% mark. Once again, the author(s) dangled the cheese for all long it molded. Reo fought the relationship way to hard in my humble opinion. And after they finally fucked, he switched his stance so fast my head spun, insisting they married as soon as possible.

When Nina first touched Reo, light erupted from his skin, forming glowing sigils, emanating from beneath his short fur. I wish I could tell what exactly that meant, but unfortunately, the author never really bothered to explain it in detail. It was as if that little tid bit was overlooked and forgotten about.

Overall, I recommend the read. It was the perfect length that fairly balanced the adventure and romance. Probably could've used a bit more bow-chick-a-wow-wow. Definitely different from other alien novels I've read. I've personally never been interested in beastiality, but what can I say? It has its moments. The idea of a cat tongue all over one's body had me thinking "hmmm, I bet that would feel good." I imagine it being like a body wrap, only less abrasive. And I'm pretty sure they make a bumpy vibrator that would closely resemble a cat tongue. As I said, the idea had its moments. My only negative critique is how long the male fought the bond. I hate books that do that. "I love her. I want to claim and fuck her. But I'm going to push her away and refuse our connection as long as I can 'to keep her safe.'" Dumbest thing ever. Anyway, I look forward to the next book in the series.

Needs work

Kind of a bummer. The world building is almost there, but really needs some editing. To the author: it is "I COULDN'T care less". Not could. "Could care less" implies you do care. And this phrase was used 8 times in the book.

The erotic scenes were boring. They did it doggy style every time and she climaxed 30 times with little to nothing from him and it felt good and so much pleasure. I found myself skimming a lot in this book. Too bad, it has potential, but just isn't there yet.

It’s good and I did enjoy myself, there are just a few things that keep this story from being perfect.

Reo and Nina are fun leads, I appreciate that we learned a lot about their characters individually. They felt like real characters instead of just placeholders. Their romance was a bit odd though. We didn’t see them really talk much, just the mention that they did indeed talk… but I would have preferred the talking more. That seemed to be the center of all of their issues, they didn’t communicate. Who would have thought that could be an issue in a romance novel?

What bothers me most about their communication issues is that even after they give into the affections of each other, Nina still refuses to talk to Reo about her insecurities and makes a decision that impacts both of them on her own. That was very much like what Reo was doing in the beginning. I just would have rather see them really work together more, rely on each other more.

Overall a good read though. The setting is interesting and the aliens on Kageth are unique. I liked seeing their civilization, but wish we’d learned more about it. One of my favorite parts was the brief scene that included the next two male leads, they seem interesting and I want to know more about them each.

This book is what I would write, Huntress and I have similar writing styles in a drily descriptive sense--so for me it was hard to take myself back to the story when I noticed certain story patterning. It's not a bad thing, but it effected my overall enjoyment of the story, so I took a star.

The typos aren't terrible, they're there, but not glaringly dramatic.

Characters are alright, but the dialogue isn't great, so I took a star for character interaction. Those characters aren't listening to each other. Their responses don't stack into a sensical conversation, and rebuttals often have nothing to do with whatever the character had previously stated. It's a mash, which is irritating.

So. I like the cat people. In theory I like the storyline, but the plot points don't make sense in a...well. It's just really, really hard to suspend disbelief for some of these character choice decisions. Like 'how does that reach the goal? You're going to run off without protection to protect yourself? Okay Deborah.' It's silly, and when stacked with the dialogue it's a lot to manage.

I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of Rejected by the Kagethi Lord . I really enjoyed reading this sci-fi romance . Nina is a human woman she has been matched by DNA with the Kagethi Lord in the match treaty upon teleporting to his planet she finds herself teleported into the jungle instead of the palace . Thank goodness before she is attacked or eaten by predators . A furry Alien warrior named Reo rescues her . Traveling to the Palace together Nina doesn't realize Reo happens to be her matched mate the prince . Reo doesn't bother to tell her . Upon their arrival Reo publicly rejects Nina and storms off .
Reo feels that he must reject her to keep her safe . All to soon they find not even that's enough to protect her . This story is Suspenseful and interesting and definitely steamy . Full of action . I highly recommend taking the time to read .

Good....but not great.

The book was cute. The storyline was good. An earth woman's DNA matches her to an alien prince. As per a treaty between earth and aliens off she must go! Not everyone is happy with the treaty and to protect her the prince will deny his feelings and reject her. However, danger still lurks and they are thrown together until they can't deny their feelings anymore!
I just think some of it didn't make sense. (No one would take an inexperienced person into an outnumbered fight to "protect" them from other dangers.) It is definitely a slow burn with vanilla sex. I personally prefer more action and the insta-love inst-lust trope. Up until the sex scenes I thought it might be a YA romance. There were some typos and grammatical errors as well as some really odd and unnecessary word choices. However, it was a cute and quick read.

CAR PEOPLE IN SPACE

IDK it was entertaining but lacked something. I loved the idea of cat people on a planet and the strange animals in their ecosystem. I loved the alien dogs. I think what would have made it better would have been more interaction between Reo and his friends and even his mom and hers instead of a little note... Oh yeah Kuma is my best friend. I guess making it seem more personal. I got the feeling like there were only a handful of people on the planet at some points them their would be an army. Like Her, Reo and the dogs laying weigh on a stronghold. Their were some missed opportunities for funny stuff with his bad add mom there IMO. Still worth reading. I just think more MOMENTS between the cast of Characters would improve the overall experience.

Wow does the cover look good, make that HOT. I love lions and if I had thee chance to read a shifter book that is the ones that pull me in, no matter where it is in the series. So when I saw THIS cover I dropped everything to read it. And it did not disappoint. Character development and the world development are great.

Reo's mate

Absolutely loved this book and would thoroughly recommend it and hopefully others enjoy it as much as I did. What happens when you get transported to a planet where you are supposed to meet your DNA matched mate and you land in the wrong place? Then you get rescued by a huge cat-like warrior who says his name is Reo. Faced with a grumpy rescuer and horrible creatures then the alien enemy who knew it could be worse when the rescuer turns out to be her Prince mate who rejects you as soon as you get to the palace. What's a girl to do? Read and I hope that you enjoy the adventure and hint of love and adversity due to prejudices against mixed races.

Quick, fun read that doesn't disappoint. I do wish it had a tad more world building as it was hard to get oriented in the setting in the beginning. However, it didn't take away from my enjoyment. The story is a simple one. But the real fantasy is in the ending. If Harry/Megan and/or Princess Diana has taught us anything is that acceptance by the larger kingdom and public is immensely important and not easily ignored or put down. But, the happily ever after scene was adorable and I loved her families involvement. I kept picturing the hero like the main character in the beauty and beast tv show from the 90s with Linda Hamilton, the whole time. I'd definitely read more in the series.

It was a little...off while reading

It's a quick story but didn't necessarily flow, I found myself having to Google the definitions of unnecessarily big words... especially since the main character is a dog walker by profession, didn't feel necessary to use these obfuscate words (learned that from this book lol and don't think I quite used it correctly hehe) but then would see little grammar errors and misspelled words like castle without the L...
It also felt like a rushed soap opera in the general scheme. Not a horrible book by any means, just not my favorite.

I kept rolling my eyes during this one and thankfully, it was short.
I couldn't understand Reo, why get genetically matched with someone and have them show up on your planet and then reject her? It makes no sense. The strange transporter issue, where Nina just shows up in the middle of the jungle and Reo knows where to find her?
If Nina in is such danger, why not tell her and make a plan to catch the bad guys? Why make her feel like crap and embarrass her in front of everyone. Cheesy and predictable.

Rejected by the Kagethi Lord

Being told you are going to be “beamed” to another planet to marry someone you don’t know is a bit much. I mean really I’m only a dog walker and I’m about to become a princess to a Alien Lord. But the first person I saw was Reo and he wasn’t talking much. Reo wanted nothing to do with the female because he was afraid she would be hurt by his enemies. Can we find a solution or will we be separate for life? Recommend this book.

Nina and Reo

DNA chosen Nina is sent to be a bride for Prince Reo. She is beamed to the wrong place on the planet. The Lion man that shows up to take her to the palace is everything Nina could ask for.

When she gets to the palace she finds out she was escorted by Reo, the prince, but he rejects her as his mate.

This is the “we can’t be together for some lame reason” trope. I thought the world building was great and the characters were OK but the plot was flat.

Nina is teleported to another world to become an alien prince’s bride. But when Reo sees her, he immediately rejects her. She assumes he doesn’t like her, but the opposite is true. He recognizes she’s his mate and fears political opponents will try to hurt her.

I liked that Nina was no shrinking violet. She’s a kick-ass heroine, who met her match. The book started off with a bang and hooked me right away.

I give up at 52% because what do mean all of a sudden someone wants to kill the FMC. Why was there zero work done in building this up? Why just randomly drop it into the story half way through after nothing has been going on. Aside from that it was slow and both characters lacked any real interest. I haven’t picked this back up in two weeks and don’t care to finish it since the authors didn’t care to put any actual work into the plot.

Initially Nina puts herself in an awkward spot by openly speaking her thoughts about her mate to be to her escort. What I loved about this book is the way the two main characters try to protect the other by denial. I’m not saying she doesn’t try to tempt him, but when push comes to shove, they would do anything to keep the other safe.

Great book

First time author for me. Really enjoyed this book. Sci-Fi isn't usually my thing..I get confused with all the futuristic names...but this book had just the right balance that made it easy for me to follow along. Characters were great..story flowed well. Will be reading more books from the author.
