The night Tag Turner claimed he loved Roxy Adams and begged her to follow him to Nashville to live his dream, she sent him packing since she knew it couldn't be real. Even if he did insist he’d been singing his love to her for years.

Eight years later, Tag, now a famous country star, rolls back into small town Little River hoping for one more shot at winning his high school crush. But Roxy loves her quiet, country life on her family’s ranch—a life that doesn’t have room for someone who can’t buy coffee without national media attention.

Not ready to give up, Tag stays in Little River to work on his next album and convince the woman he loves to give him a chance. Will Roxy ever trust his feelings are real and not just lyrics in a song?

During her early years of reading, Ranee` S. Clark devoured fantasy books, which continued into her adulthood—since she often believes that a well-written romance novel is a delightful fantasy. Though raising three boys can sometimes hamper both romance with her own Mr. Charming and her writing, she tries to get a little of both in every day. And most of the time she succeeds.

Fun Escape!

Oh, the angst and drama! Roxy is so slow. Honestly, I'm surprised this ended well! Nash must be a saint and Tag is just swoon worthy. I was definitely and happily caught up in the drama. It was a fun escape.

Romance clean; Series but stand alone read
Roxy and Tag's story was such a sweet, satisfying read. Tag's creativity, his love language of song that Roxy has misunderstood forever, his muse, and Roxy's heart finally hearing his song was a gorgeous read. I normally have issues with novellas, and not every one of RSC novels has been a favorite, but this will be one I re-read and savor for the 'moments'. There were so many. The main characters were honest, hurting hearts, great setting at the Ranch, and their heart home, and of course, perfect chemistry that Roxy can't walk away from a 3rd time. Some fun side characters as well, although they weren't as fully developed with the length. I didn't notice in the flow of things that the story was flat though, this was perfectly written, and perfect execution of this heart song. Gorgeous, fun, sweet, and satisfying., this is one I will highly recommend if you like clean reads. So worth every penny! I very rarely give a 5 star rating and this definitely earned it in my opinion.

I have to edit this and also say I LOVE the cover as well!

Roxy’s Song by Ranee S. Clark is a tender small-town contemporary romance about Tag Turner, a country music star who returns home to Little River after becoming famous and tries one more time to win back his high school love, Roxy Adams, who once sent him away because she could not trust his feelings were real and not just lyrics in a song. It explores themes of second chances, the pull between ambition and belonging, and the deep roots of first love in a close community.

Right from the beginning I felt the story’s warmth in the way it unfolded: Roxy’s strong love for her quiet ranch life and commitment to family made her instantly relatable, and Tag’s earnest return to town brought a beautiful contrast between Hollywood dreams and genuine heart. Their history pulsed beneath every conversation, and the slow rekindling of their connection felt rich with emotion, reflection, and the weight of things left unsaid. I especially loved how the book honored the quiet dignity of Roxy’s choices while giving Tag space to grow beyond the spotlight and rediscover why he loved her in the first place. The setting of Little River felt like a character too, with its gentle rhythms and familiar faces that breathed life into every page.

Rating: 3 out of 5

I found this story deeply satisfying for its heartfelt portrayal of forgiveness, trust, and the courage to open your heart again. My only tiny reservation was that a few moments followed familiar romance beats, but the sincerity of the characters and the emotional depth made me feel truly invested in their journey.

Country star Tag Turner comes home to Little River to win back his high school crush - now the owner of a thriving bed and breakfast out of her family's old ranch - but he's in for a bit more of a challenge than he bargained for.

LOVED this book! Such a fun, quick read that's impossible to put down! Romantic comedy at it's best.

I have mixed feelings on this book. I didn't really get into the story or characters until the last twenty percent of the book. Before that, it was a chore to read and keep going because the characters kept making me so upset. What saved me from rating it lower was the ending. It was really a good ending and gave me that fulfillment readers seek. It helped me finally like the characters and be glad for their happy ending. It just took a lot of work to get there.

Content:

Language: None.

Violence: Mild. There is an accident where someone gets burned. Really mild injury.

Sexual: Mild. Swoony kissing that doesn't go into steamy at all. It's described as connection. Closest descriptor to sexual is 'swooping in the stomach'.

Soooo, I wanted to like this more than I did. My issue is pretty straightforward: Roxy drives me insane. The entire book she keeps saying that the Male MC isn't being serious when he declares his love for her, but there's never any actual evidence of this, and it immediately made me totally unsympathetic to her character. She literally runs away from him left, right, and center, and it all felt very immature. She's twenty-six. There was a lot of contradiction in her actions throughout the novel. One breath she's totally in denial about the guy, the next she's all, "I'm falling for him and I've always been in love with him". I'd be okay with that if it didn't feel so whiplash adjacent from a storytelling perspective.

This is the second book I read in this series, and I'm just not liking the way the author plots romances. Both books felt forced, slightly toxic, and way too rushed to be satisfying or believable. They'd be pure fluff if not for the frustration I felt at the unnecessary drama.

Just not my cup of tea for this genre.

3 stars.

Big yikes on these characters.

Roxy and Tag drove me insane. I wanted to root for them but sometimes people are just not compatible. The years wasted is how I see it.

Also. Tag acts like he’s been all about Roxy his whole life. Yeah yeah. The long string of girlfriends tells me otherwise. But I digress.

I did enjoy the writing and the pacing of the book. And I did think the epilogue was cute.

I loved this book as much as I love reading on a nice fall day in a comfy chair with a cup of hot chocolate. It brings out all those feelings for me. A very sweet, heart warming story of friends to lovers. It’s a quick and easy read with one of my favorite things to read or watch on tv: Small town romance. The perfect pick me up on a weekend after a stressful work week. Read it!!!

Renee Clark’s books are usually either a hit or a miss for me. Unfortunately this one was a miss. I wasn’t a big fan of the two main characters.

✨“You came back to Little River to write. I know this is where you got some of your best ideas.” “You’re where I got some of my best ideas,” he corrected, holding her gaze for a few seconds before trudging on."✨

ok, I really didn’t HATE the book. I enjoyed some of it so ig it was ok but it wasn’t the best thing ever.. but here's why I gave it a lower rating:

I was just SO annoyed. Omg roxy annoyed me so much it’s ridiculous. She literally couldn’t understand that tag has been in love with her for years??? Hello how could you not know??

Tag Turner, Roxy’s childhood best friend, became a famous country singer and went off to Nashville to pursue his music career. He asked her to go with him but she said no because she didn’t believe that he really loved her.. are you kidding me? Literally every single song he wrote was about her, he literally told her so many times that she was his inspiration behind his music and she still didn’t believe him the 20 million times when he said he was in love with her??? And she refused to listen to his music after he left because she was so heart broken but yet she couldn’t admit that she loved him too?? omg I can’t even 😑

Ok I’m done complaining but I seriously did not like roxy at all. She blamed everything on tag but the way I see it, everything was on her🤦🏼‍♀️

At least the epilogue was cute ig

This is a cute, sweet, romantic story. I mean, who wouldn’t love a famous country singer singing love songs about and to you? Well....Roxy doesn’t. At least that’s what she’s been telling herself for the last eight years! I kept thinking of the movie Win a Date with Tad Hamilton while I was reading this. The storylines aren’t similar, but it’s set in a small western town and the main guy is named Tag, and that kept bringing that movie to mind.

Note to self: buy a pink and white polka dotted dress or skirt. This cover is way cute!

This could definitely fit as a Hallmark movie in terms of girl dating Mr. Wrong when Mr. Right returns for their second chance romance. But I really liked Mr. Wrong and did not like Mr. Right at all for most of the book. Until over 3/4's of the way through I felt like Mr. Right (Tag) was conceited, manipulative and selfish. It wasn't until near the end and I saw him lose the selfishness that I thought he might be okay. I still have my doubts about their relationship since she really doesn't want a life on the road and that is what he had to offer and she couldn't ask him to give his career up. Really it was as wrong to ask him to give it up as for him to ask her to go with him. The way the author has written the book, it is a very happy ending but in real life I doubt it would actually last. So my dislike for the Hero was the reason for my two star rating. I did like the epilogue giving the down the road of time view which maybe gives a reader more hope for them.

I've read other books by this author and liked them much better. For that reason I will try the next book in this series.

No sex, language or violence

Home is Where His Heart Always Was -
Even though Tag was a famous star, he still felt unfulfilled as the love of his life wasn’t with him, so he made the decision to do something about it. Roxy wasn’t happy about Tag’s return, as she didn’t want him disrupting her life, so she did everything possible to stay away from him. However, circumstances didn’t allow Roxy plan to work for long and she was forced to spend time with Tag, which brought back all her old feelings.

Whilst Tag was ecstatic about his progress in getting Roxy back, she was upset as her confused feelings led her to make certain changes in her life. Luckily, Tag plan to go slow finally worked, as he managed to convince Roxy to give them a chance at having the future the missed out on. This was a wonderful romance story, filled with a bit of angst and drama, that I had fun reading and I am sure you will enjoy reading it too. This is a new author to me and I must say it’s been a pleasure reading this story.

I received a copy of this book free and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

I really enjoyed this quick read. I hate cheating so when Tag came to town and Roxy started questioning her feelings - I was so glad she did the right thing and “took a break” from her relationship with Nash. I liked Nash though so that sucked that he was hurt. Tag seemed great and Roxy was a little annoying with her emotions being all over the place. The miscommunication trope is one of my least favorite and while Tag was always honest, Roxy willfully chose not to believe him - thinking he was just flirting or whatever. Their chemistry was so apparent, and I’m glad Roxy finally got over herself and stopped breaking Tag’s heart.

I thought the world of the story was fun, but I'm not super into country music so that vibe didn't reach me as much as it might do for someone else. The book was well-written, though. The characters were fun, too.
However, I have a personal issue with storylines that involve a giant misunderstanding, and this kinda falls under that category. And I don't love seeing collateral damage of other characters, so I kinda wish Roxy hadn't had a devoted boyfriend at the beginning of the book. But the "I've been in love with you forever" vibe is one of my favorites, so that part was great for me.

This was a fun, clean, quick read and I enjoyed it. However.....the editing was less than stellar and every time the word "sang" was used instead of "sung" after a helping verb, I had to grit my teeth. And it happened many times in a story about a country music star. I have gone on with the second book in the series, and happily I think I only noticed 1 editing mistake in that one. Fun story, though.

This book felt like I was coming in halfway through the story and most of the hard work was over. It was sweet and romantic and left my heart swooning for more.

I would have greatly enjoyed more back story of Roxy and Tag. How they became to be the way they were, Tag’s rise into stardom, trying to convince her the first time, and Roxy taking over the ranch.

A great book, but it left me wanting more of their origin story

good clean

It was good, but I felt like the male main character should have actually said what he was thinking all those years instead of just assuming she understood what he was saying with songs. Would have saved a lot of heartache on both sides. However then there wouldn’t be a story. 🙃

Roxy and Tag were together until his music career took off. He wanted her to go with him and she wanted to stay in Little River where her family is. Eight years later Tag is a star and Roxy is dating someone else. Tag has written all his songs about her. Will they ever get together? A quick fun read. Highly recommended.

Full of love and heartache

Roxy never believed Tag loved her. She just thought they grew up best friends. He was destined to become a singing sensation and go on the road. Her heart was in the ranch her family had owned for generations which she had turned into a hotel. How could they ever be together?

Couldn’t put it down!

This is the first in the Little River series and I am totally sucked in. I read it in a day. I loved how the story progressed for Roxy and Tag. Roxy is a strong woman character which I love but best part of the story is her realizing she was getting in her own way. Now I can’t wait to see what happens with Dru and Bellamy.

Adorable

Adorable is the best word I have to describe this book. I loved it. I loved the music star aspect, the ranch and the friends to lovers trope. It was so cute! I’m so glad I had the chance to read it. If you love sweet romance this is for you!

sweet second chance romance.

This book is full of heart. I love how sweet Tag is and the friendship Roxy and him have. It takes Roxy a long time to figure out it is more than friendship.
It is a quick read with depth and a HEA.

This was super cute! It took me a bit of time to get into. I don't like love triangles, and there was one in this, though it didn't last long at all. It was a little slow going, but it was super cute! Great read! Excited for the next ones

3.5 It was cute, but I wanted more of their past interactions to show how they fell in love and even more meaningful experiences between them in the present. I just felt like there was redundancy in saying he loved without understanding why.

Roxy and Tag were buddies growing up. They drifted away when he went on to become a bona fide country music star.
After years on the road, he comes back to town determined to win her heart.

This story shared that journey. It was enjoyable and a bit frustrating, but mostly fun.

This book was an interesting read. The characters of this book were searching, looking, struggling and trying their best to express their feelings, and they finally found a way that each other understood. I wish I had a songwriter in my life to express his feelings toward me. I will keep dreaming.

I did one of this series not knowing it was a series a while back and was always intending to go back and do the others in the series... I dunno. I dunno, this felt kinda bleh. 2 Stars seems harsh, but 3 feels like too much.
