I really liked this book - not necessarily because I believe in all of it, but rather it's one of those books that helps reframe my understanding of what's possible or important when it comes to our bodies and how much control we have over them. It's basic premise is that we may be able to "control" via sophisticated biofeedback reward conditioning what was, at least at the time, considered impossible. The author never takes a firm side, rather he goes into some of the history of scientific research looking into it, as well as general history around animal and human conditioning, as well as people such as yogis and zen masters who claim to be able to control seemingly immutable bodily processes.
