Player (version française): romance de campus enemies to lovers (OMU campus t. 1)
Mon nouveau coloc est un parfait c****** !
Parmi les milliers d'étudiantes du campus, il a fallu que ça tombe sur moi...
Player représente tout ce que je déteste chez un homme : arrogant, insupportable, doté d'une assurance qui crève le plafond. Non, vraiment, je n'aurais pas pu imaginer pire coloc pour partager mon nouveau logement sur le campus.
Quarterback vedette de l'équipe des Jaguars, il sait très bien que les petites culottes s'embrasent sur son passage, et il n'hésite jamais à en jouer. Il n'y a rien de doux, tendre ou gentil chez Player, non, lui, ne s'exprime qu'avec des piques parfaitement aiguisées qu'il adore me lancer. Il faut croire que je suis sa cible favorite.
Player dit que quel que soit le jeu, il finit toujours par gagner.
Moi, je dis que je peux lui tenir tête.
Il dit qu’il n’aime que les femmes matures.
Je dis que c’est parfait parce que je ne craquerai jamais pour lui !
Entre nous, tous les coups sont permis, mais qui sortira vainqueur de ce petit jeu ?
Et si, sans le savoir, nous avions commencé une partie de « qui perd gagne » ?

Ce premier tome présente le cadre, les personnages et l'action de cette nouvelle duologie.
Le cadre est un milieu universitaire aux États-Unis avec un campus moderne où les hommes et les femmes partagent leurs logements. Nos protagonistes se retrouvent donc colocataires avec d'autres personnes, ce qui nous offre un trope "proximité forcée". Vivre avec quelqu'un qui vous attire mais à qui vous ne voulez pas succomber amène forcément à des scènes intéressantes.
L'héroïne, une étudiante sage se fait vite des amis (des personnages secondaires vraiment sympas), le seul qu'elle ne supporte pas est Player, le héros. Trope "enemies to lovers" par conséquent. Il est arrogant, et pour utiliser l'expression de l'auteure, c'est un vrai co***d. Un vrai de vrai ! On ne nous ment pas sur ce fait. À tel point, qu'honnêtement, je ne comprends pas comment Dixie a pu tomber amoureuse de lui. Hormis le fait qu'il soit beau et doué pour les activités physiques, je ne vois pas ce qui peut permettre d'avoir de réels sentiments pour lui. Pas à ce stade en tout cas, donc j'espère que dans le deuxième tome, on pourra voir plus ses qualités que ses défauts.

Nous avons un aperçu de ses problèmes familiaux et des raisons pour lesquelles il se comporte comme il le fait. Mais seulement un aperçu. Forcément, cela donne envie d'en savoir plus, de découvrir le fin mot de l'histoire.
Bref, une lecture intéressante avec le désir de connaître la fin.

This was a good college romance with enemies to lovers vibe. Player and Dixie were well-written characters. This book has its fair share of push and pull, but it's done really well. 🙌🏼

Thank you so much, Estelle Every, for an ARC of this book! I want to start this by saying that my feelings about this book are mixed, as I'm used to affectionate MMCs, so I am trying to look at this from a critical point of view as much as I can.
As far as their relationships goes, they did fit well together and there was a mutual amount of interest, which I do love in a book because it shows the characters to be on the same page, and that is so important for me.
The plot of this book is very romance heavy, obviously, but there are also a few scenes that take place on the football pitch, which I liked. My lack of understanding of American football actually made it more fun because I really felt like I was looking in on someone else's life. I'm relatively new to sports romances, but I think it's a good introduction for a lot of people.
Player is your typical college athlete with a hidden past, which I really enjoyed learning about, but the topics are heavy so please check my trigger warning section! His complexity was very interesting from a reader perspectives, but he was too cruel for my liking, insulting Dixie when it really wasn't called for, and had an odd view of women, which I couldn't get behind. His type was older woman, usually married, and that obscured his idea of women his own age. I'm not really sure that he had any development in that area, but book 2 will hopefully explain that.
Dixie is new to college and I liked her as a character because she was a good friend and had morals, but she didn't feel as developed as Player. I think in book 2 I would love to see some more growth from her because she has so much potential.
The spice was very heavy, which I expected as it fit the characters. All of the scenes were in character, but they made my heart hurt for Dixie, because she didn't deserve the treatment she got when she was so much less experienced than him. If you are looking for instant romance, this isn't where you're going to find it, but if you like build up then this book is for you.
Overall this was a decent romance with a good plot and a great set up for book 2 which I am looking forward to reading.

En ce mois de septembre, quoi de mieux que de se plonger dans une romance universitaire? Avec Player, Estelle Every nous amène à découvrir un joueur de football américain au tempérament de feu et une jeune étudiante qui le remettra à sa place. C'est explosif, c'est sensuel mais c'est aussi addictif et on a envie de connaître la suite et d'être déjà en octobre.
Bref, j'ai passé un très bon moment de lecture en découvrant ce premier tome. Il se termine certes sur un cliffhanger mais rien de dramatique car il ne nous faudra attendre qu'un petit mois pour savoir le fin mot de l'histoire. La psychologie des personnages sera clairement intéressante à découvrir car sous les apparences, nos héros cachent leur faille. Et si à deux, ils pouvaient enfin être eux-mêmes?

Vous commencez à avoir l’habitude mais à chaque nouvelle sortie de roman d’Estelle, vous retrouvez la chronique sur le blog !
Player est sorti il y a quelques jours et j’avais hâte de vous en parler car j’ai adoré cette lecture !
Dixie entre en première année à la Old Meyer University et est en collocation dans un appartement avec plusieurs étudiants.
Naturellement, elle va rapidement tomber sur Player, un étudiant désagréable dès la première impression et peu après, elle va se rendre compte qu’ils sont voisins…
Ils sont à l’opposé l’un de l’autre, mais c’est bien connu, les opposés s’attirent ! Je vous laisse découvrir la relation entre Player et Dixie, pour ma part, cela a été une très bonne lecture et j’ai pris plaisir a retrouver la plume d’Estelle.
Le tome 2 est prévu pour le 7 octobre prochain et je peux vous dire que je suis impatiente de connaître la conclusion de cette histoire ! ♥

Une romance universitaire très addictive !
Premier roman d’Estelle Every que je lis et son écriture m’a conquise !
Tout y est!
un héros connard, QB, beau comme un dieu, qui cache une part sombre
une héroïne candide mais à la répartie aiguisée
une colocation riche en personnages secondaires attractifs (des spin off prevus??)
Un univers universitaire américain / football américain
Le tout est sublimé par une plume percutante !
Un joli combo !
Par contre, comment attendre sagement la sortie du tome 2?

Une bonne histoire de campus avec un héros qu'on adore détester et qu'on apprend à connaître lui et ses démons au fil des pages. On s'attache rapidement à Dixie, sa bonne humeur et son caractère bien trempé. Je ne m'attendais pas à ce que ce tome ne termine pas leur histoire , de ce fait j'attends le tome 2 de pieds fermes.

First, I want to thank the author for the eARC for the English version. I came across your book on Instagram and thought I would give it shot. As thanks for the advanced copy of the book, here is my honest review.
It took me a few chapters to really get into Player, but once I did, the tension between Dixie and Player kept my attention. The only thing I wish there was more of, was on-field action. This book is marketed as a college sports romance centered around American football. While the college atmosphere was easy to decipher, I felt that the relationship between Dixie and Player overshadowed the sports aspect. Despite this, I read the entire book in one sitting and I'm curious to see where the second book takes us.
Who would I recommend this to? This book would be good for readers who are looking for a steamy college sports romance. The steam is hot and it's presented in a tasteful manner. If you're looking for chapters full of tension between the two main characters, this is also for you. I was holding my breath the entire time during the tense scenes.
Who would I not recommend this to? If you're looking for a clean sports romance with no sports romance, this book is not for you. I would also not recommend this if you're looking for a sports-centered romance. This book hits some good notes, but it could be improved upon.
Overall, a good book that kept my attention until the end and curious about what's to come in the second book. Thankfully we don't have to wait too long for the sequel

Je découvre la plume d'Estelle Every, grâce à cette duologie sur un campus et j'ai plutôt beaucoup aimé ce premier tome.
Le personnage masculin porte le nom "Player", ce n'est pas son vrai prénom, mais dorénavant il a pris cette identité dû à son rôle dans les Jaguars, l'équipe de Quarterbacks.
Player a conscience que les filles tombent à ses pieds et il en joue, mais il va tomber sur Dixie et dès leur rencontre la tension est électrique encore plus lorsque qu'ils vont devenir colocs pour le reste de l'année.
Le joueur de Quarterbacks n'a pas l'habitude qu'on lui tienne tête, il s'est mis en tête de la faire tomber comme les autres, mais il ce pourrait bien que Dixie n'ai pas dis son dernier mot et Player pourrait bien se faire prendre à son propre jeu…
C'est un roman qui se lit rapidement, il est fluide, pas prise de tête.

Player by Estelle Every is an ARC I was excited to dive into, but unfortunately it just wasn’t a good fit for me. The story leans heavily into the enemies-to-lovers trope and is packed with steamy scenes, which I think will really appeal to readers who enjoy those elements.
For me, it didn’t connect — the characters felt flat and lacked the depth I look for in a romance, which made the story feel a bit superficial. It also ends on a cliffhanger, which may work for some but left me feeling unsatisfied.
That said, romance readers who love angst, spice, and the enemies-to-lovers dynamic may find more to enjoy here.

If you love a true Enemies-to-Lovers book, this one is perfect for you . . .
WOW, was the word I expressed after reading this book, Enemies-to-Lovers indeed. Player and Dixie quite literally are the epitome of opposite personalities, yet their attraction to each other becomes unavoidable. Player has a great plot with some mild twists that I did not expect and was in every sense of the word a very soul-gripping book. Despite his broody mad-at-the-world behavior Player grew on me, kind of like he did Dixie. By the end of the book I was 100% invested in them and now I am waiting, impatiently I might add, for the next chapter in their story.

3.5 half stars i enjoyed this college romance with a little enemies to lovers and how dixie the main character didn’t just take it and actually fought back she was such a sweet character and player oof he made me mad at some points especially at the ending like come on bro do you even like her😭😭anyways im excited for book two and i hope dixie makes that man grovel

Love the chemistry between Player and Dixie … And the change in attitude in player ……Bradley could have been a developed though that may happen in next book….most of the football stuff went over my head as I am not from USA….I found myself liking the book despite not being a fan of sports romances……Exited for the next book….

the cliffy girl dammnn hopefully book 2 will be out ASAP coz i need the ending xx

I can not say enough about this book. Player was his name and it fit who he was. Or was he really this person? I fell in love with him and how he was. I was on the edge of my seat until the end. That ending left me speechless!!!
