Battling Beckett

Rate this book
Hell Disguised as Heaven…

Greer’s circumstances radically change her senior year in high school. Moving from an apartment to a multimillion-dollar mansion should be an easy transition, but her soon to be step-brother makes it hell on earth.

Beckett is a football god and arrogant jerk. He makes it clear that Greer is not welcome in his home or his elite private school. And yet, she finds the battle with herself more confusing than the one with Beckett. Why is she drawn to him? Why does she see the good in him?

Even with all of the confusing and unexpected obstacles, Greer is determined to find a way to thrive and survive.

This book features an alpha hero and an introverted heroine in a high school setting, but it is meant for mature readers.

I heard about this book a couple years ago… I can’t remember where, but I had it in my head that it had buckets of OW drama. It does have a crazy wannabe OW stalker situation, but she’s only on page maybe 3 times, and 2 of those it’s just her voice and shoving (her identity is a mystery) which isn’t a big deal… at all. Add in a few glares from the jelly cheerleaders, and that’s it. The rest is pretty standard for the HS bully future step-bro trope.

The book opens with Greer and her mom moving in with Beckett and his dad. The ladies are poor/prideful, and the males are uber rich. Beckett assumes they’re goldiggers and doesn’t welcome them with open arms. His “bullying” is pretty tame… he mostly just ignores/pretends he doesn’t know her making her entry into his private prep school bumpy… but it’s still not really bad… everyone just ignores her.

Bottom Line- It sort of reads like a watered-down version of Fallen Crest High except Beckett is no Mason and Greer is even wimpier than Sam. Ok, but a smidge low on the drama-llama.

A straightforward, semi-sweet High School stepbrother enemies-to-lovers sport romance really hits the spot, sometimes. 🤷‍♀️❤️

What I liked:

• h is an 18 yr old v - she's a normal girl who grew up with a single mom and not much money - she's vulnerable but smart and independent without being annoying for the most part

• H is an college/NFL bound star quarterback - rich, cocky, and privileged (aren't they all??) - he gets around, but it's not over belabored.

• this is the standard, "mom and dad are getting married so we're forced to live together... and we're not happy about it" trope. {👀 I see you rolling your eyes! 😅 Look, sometimes there's comfort in the predictable!} #stopjudgingme

• the H is mean, but not overly so... he starts getting protective and growly over the h pretty quickly, even when he thinks he hates her

• the H is j/p, but not OTT... however there are a couple fun claim-y scenes.

• there is OW drama... but not how you'd expect... the H is actually completely unaware he has a bunny-boiler at the school giving the h a hard time

• we get several great damsel in distress scenes when the h is being bullied and the H has to come to her rescue. *happy sigh*

• we get a some sexual tension and a couple kisses before 50% and sexual contact at 60% on, but not the full meal until 92%. It didn't bother me. 🤷‍♀️ It was just sweet and smexxy enough to satisfy me, but if you're looking for erotica, this ain't it. 😅 Make out scenes are hot. That's the best part of young love stories, IMO. 😍 #ISaidWhatISaid

• Dual POV

What I didn't like

• I wasn't satisfied with how the psycho gal situation was wrapped up

• sometimes the h veered off into preachy stubborn overly-independent nonsense 🙄 #badfeminist 👀

• there were times I wished the H was more willing to bulldoze - he had his moments, but I wanted a bit more 😈

• I noticed a few editing errors

Bottom Line? It was a good palate cleanser comfort read. Just enough j/p growls and smoldering stares, HS drama, smexxy, and sweet. I'll check out more from this author.
3.5 ⭐️s

⚠️For the Safety Squad⚠️

• no cheating

• no sharing

• no dubcon

• OW exist in this world and the H had his fair share of them, but they are background noise besides the psycho, who he barely knows... he is not with anyone besides the h for duration of the book... although he does try to upset her by kissing her "friend" at the beginning of the book, but it's before they have established any sort of intimacy or feelings

This is a contemporary enemies-to-lovers, step-siblings romance. I love this trope, and Christensen does it so well! Beckett despises Greer when she and her mother move in with him and his dad. He believes they’re both gold diggers, and he wants to protect his father from inevitable heartbreak and financial ruin. While Beckett is quite harsh towards Greer, it isn’t quite a bully romance, and it’s clear from the start that Beckett is a good person who makes broad assumptions. I love how gradually he starts to realize that Greer is different from what he expected, and their slow burn romance is sweet and unputdownable!

Five-star story and three-star editing; I LOVED this story and recommend it to anyone who enjoys a jealous and possessive hero. This is a long book with lots of great tension throughout, and I will re-read it as one of my favorites! This put T. Christensen on my radar and I'll be sure to watch for any new work she puts out.

Battling Beckett: A Contemporary Step Brother Romance by T. Christensen is a young adult romance story. It is a fun read but our main male character is decidedly a bad person who I did not like, he is the typical rich, entitled boy who gets what he wants . He a bit overpowering in the ego department who made the life of our female lead miserable. I would have liked to see the story told in multiple POV’s.

Greer and her mum are moving in with the Dawson’s, the new step brother and his dad. Beckett is not a happy camper and is out to make life a living hell. A new elite school where our top dog and number one egotistical Beckett goes and is the big football star doesn’t make life any easier for her. Somewhere along the way she finds herself with an attraction to the one who makes life miserable and inferior but will she act on those feelings?

An enjoyable read.

Read this if you:
*Enjoy a quick read with lots of sexual tension
*Like an alpha hero and an introverted heroine
*Are fond of hot, steamy high school romances

Meet the Author: T. Christensen has been a lifelong resident of South Dakota. Being at home with her family is always her favorite place to be. T. Christensen has been addicted to reading since she read her first romance novel in middle school. Reading a romance novel is still the best reward at the end of the day.

Synopsis: “Her blood heated back up as she got over her shock at his Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde personality.” Greer sacrificed it all for her mother’s happiness. Her senior year of high school she packs up her apartment and moves into a mansion with her rich stepbrother Beckett and her mom’s Fiancé David. Joining a new elite private school full of mean girls was not what Greer signed up for. Beckett, a hot-headed football god is determined to push Greer away. Her and her mother are not welcome in his home, and he will be damned to let them gouge his dad for his money.

Reader’s Thoughts: This was my first time reading a novel written by T. Christensen and WOW, this one did not disappoint me. I sat down and read this in one afternoon. No matter how much I needed to get done, I just couldn’t put this one down. The characters were relatable in so many ways. The storyline was realistic portraying the “mean girls” as what I truly believe mean girls look like in today’s society.
In the beginning I wanted to slap some sense into Beckett, he was such a jerk! Then I found myself silently yelling at Greer for allowing Beckett to act the way he did. I found Greer’s enthusiasm for her mother’s happiness touching. For a young teenage girl to be so concerned about her mother’s happiness made my heart sing. And David, he instantly won me over. His threats to Beckett made me shout out loud. I can’t wait to read more from this author. I would love to see novels written around the stories of the side characters: Lexi and Pepper and there stunning football stars.

Favorite Quote: “Even though she fights me every step of the way, Greer makes me want to slay all her dragons. She has a quiet dignity no one can take away from her.

Beckett learned at a young age that the women who take interest in his father are out for one thing, his money. When his father moves in his new fiancée and her daughter Greer, he decides he is going to keep a watchful eye on both of them because although they seem to be down to earth they are likely not.

Greer has watched her mom put her first all her life and she loves her for it, she knows Beckett is not thrilled to have her move to his home and now attend his prestigious school. He has made the fact known to her loud and clear. That being said, Greer keeps her head down and tries to stay under the radar at home and at school. It only works for so long though and the secret is out that she is living with him. That puts a target on Greer's back though and when Beckett finds out he decides to protect her. Everything about Greer baffles Beckett, she is a ray of light to him but the rough exterior surrounding Beckett makes it difficult to put in words how he really feels. Will it be too late to fix his mistakes though when it comes to Greer?

I really enjoyed this one. Beckett is a jerk to Greer, no doubt about it but Greer just keeps on going. Greer is a wonderful character, she at first keeps quiet but not for long and their is a fire within her that calls Beckett to task. I would definitely read more by this author, very well done.

When Greer and her mother move in to the Dawson home, she is not understanding the animosity she is getting from Beckett (her soon to be step-brother). He's hot and cold...wants nothing to do with her but doesn't want anyone else to have her...and he doesn't trust her. When she starts at the elite private school, she is immediately the center of attention (which she hates). She has also garnered the attention of someone who wants her nowhere near Beckett. Just when Greer thinks that things are starting to ease up...and maybe her and Beckett are on the same page...she overhears a conversation that breaks her heart and pushes her right into the arms of the person who is out to hurt her. Can she ever trust anything that comes out of Beckett's mouth? Or should she just bide her time and keep the peace until she leaves for college?

This was a good story that I found myself immersed in from the beginning. I can understand Beckett's wariness...but even when his eyes were opened after speaking with his father, he still held onto the notion that Greer was not the person she portrayed. I wanted to smack some sense into him! I was rooting for them...but I could understand Greer's reservations and applauded her standing her ground and standing up for herself. Overall, a good read!

Greer is living life under the radar just how she likes it, but when her mother decides to move them into the home of her boyfriend Greer's life turns into a nightmare, not only a new home, new people but a new school is never good in the senior year but when she starts getting bullied the most unlikely hero comes to her rescue.

Beckett has had his battles but when his father moves in the new flavour of the month, he is determined to show them for the money grabbing woman she is. Beckett has always been an only child and with a new girl added to the mix has made things complicated but when Beckett starts to have feelings towards the interloper and defends her at school, can he really change?

This is not the first book by this author and this book does not disappoint one bit. I love the story and as always, the developed characters within this story. Beckett is a horrible individual in the beginning of this book, and I really did not enjoy the interactions he had with Greer but as always you slowly see him growing as a character and end up good in the end.

Greer's character was a brilliant counter to Beckett, although at times you think she is a quiet mouse, don't be fooled she ends up being a tiger and shows her true feelings as the story goes on. The story flows brilliantly and although this is a young adult story, you don't feel this within the writing.

It has been Beckett Dawson and his dad since his mom left when Beckett was 4. His dad always said that women were traitorous and usually out for his money. Beckett knew this was the case when his dad brought the Smith women into his life. The mom was just after his dad’s millions, and the daughter was probably no better. That is Beckett’s mission to prove to himself and his dad. But there just seems to be something about Greer that Beckett can’t shake, can’t figure out.

Greer Smith is used to being invisible, lost in a sea of high schoolers. Moving in with her mother’s fiance has made sure that is no longer possible. A new school for her senior year, living with the quarterback who hates her, and being thrust into a world of privilege has left Greer floundering. Greer tries to balance her independence, her growing attraction for Beckett, and her old friends as her new life takes some twists and turns.

Sssooooooooooooooooooooo, I thought this was going to be another typical bully romance, but Nope, nunuhn, no way! I stayed up way too late reading one night slash early morning because I didn’t want to put it down. This book is fantastic. The story grabs you and keeps you guessing. This might not be a straight dual POV, but I LOVE how you get both Greer and Beckett’s sides. I hope that this is not the end for these two characters. Can we get them in college or in a companion story??? Please!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, fantastic, wonderful, outstanding book.

Battling Beckett
By: T. Christensen
5*

Greer’s life has been turned completely upside down. Her mom has fallen in love and has moved her into a mansion across town. This sounds like it would be the dream situation almost a rags to riches situation. Not if you are beginning your senior year of high school, like Greer is. She has to change her school and her friends. Instead of going to public school, she is going to go to the most expensive private school in the area. Truthfully she can’t believe all this is happening to her. On top of having a sort of dad she also has a sort of step brother. Who she can’t stand and is fascinated with all at the same time.
Beckett is also in his senior year of high school. And he has gained a home with two women. He doesn’t trust Greer’s mom and truthfully doesn’t trust Greer. But as the school year starts, he begins to question if Greer is actually as sweet and innocent as she appears. Maybe Greer’s motives are completely innocent.
There is no denying there is something between Greer and Beckett. But what is it? Beckett is determined to destroy Greer’s high school year. Greer is determined to make the best of it in an attempt to show support for her mom.
This book was truthfully very good. I loved the character of Greer. I thought she was very realistic. Definitely pick up this quick read!

DNF @ 20%.

I can't stand stories where the H is mean to the h through no fault of her own. He is the popular guy in school and treats her badly even though she is already struggling with being new. I also hate it that despite all that, the h is attracted to the H bc he is so hot. Being a bully makes you ugly no matter how you look.

This was my first read by this author & I was not disappointed! At first, I was concerned that it was going to be more along the lines of a tween/teenager read but I soon discovered I was wrong. I quickly found myself relating to Greer as a senior having to transition from a public school to a more exclusive “private” school. At first, as the reader, you find yourself feeling more and more sympathetic for Greer and her situation whilst developing a distaste for her soon-to-stepbrother Beckett. Don’t let this deter you! As the story develops, you begin to understand more about Beckett and his thought process per say. It is a mature read and definitely worth it for anyone who enjoys a well written contemporary romance.

Battling Beckett: A Contemporary Stepbrother Romance by T. Christensen is, as the title would suggest, a stepbrother romance- with an ‘enemy to lover’ aspect to the story. This new adult story made for some really great reading. It has plenty of drama, angst, friendships, high school politics, and emotions- with just enough danger and mystery to keep things interesting.
Greer’s whole life gets turned upside down when she and her mother move into her (prospective) new stepfather’s mansion. Things should have been the beginning of a new phase of her life, with exciting opportunities to look forward to. But, her new stepbrother, as well as the mean girl brigade at her new high school- have made her life miserable. To add salt to her wounds, she seems to be developing feelings for her tormentor. But when danger threatens her safety, will he step up and keep her safe- or use the opportunity to rid her from his life?
I really didn’t like Beckett for the first part of this book, because he was such an arrogant jerk- but, as the story progressed he slowly redeemed himself in my eyes. I really liked Greer, but her low self esteem really frustrated me at times- but I was invested in the characters and the outcome of the story. The whole cast of characters were really well developed- crafted into fully realised and complex individuals with their own unique personalities, quirks and flaws. They all added to the overall feel, flow, and development of the storyline.
There were a few minor issues (Amazon Kindle edition) such as a few typos- wrong words being missed in the editing process- for example: council instead of console, to instead of too, tooth instead of took, were instead of wear. And there were parts of the story where it seemed to slip from third person to first person perspective, and back again. Again, these were fairly minor issues, and didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment of the book- they were just a little distracting, because when I came across one it pulled me out of this otherwise captivating story.
The suspense, intrigue, tension, and chemistry were really well done- keeping me flipping the pages to discover how everything would play out. A testament to Ms. Christensen’s writing talents!
I wonder what Ms. Christensen has in store for us next?

Thank you, Ms. Christensen!

This is the first book I have read from this author and I loved every minute. I love a good enemies to lovers book and this talented author exceeded all my expectations. When I got this book I couldn’t put it down. I felt like I was back in high school all over again. It only took my a few hours to devour his amazing story.

Greer's life changes in so many ways her senior year of high school. She was loving school but when her mom fell in love with one of the wealthiest lawyers of their town it all changed. Greer now lives in a beautiful home with a new family. She also has to go to a new school with her new soon to be step-brother. Beckett is a football god and he can have any girl he wants. He is a jerk to Greer in the beginning. She doesn’t understand why she is drawn to him. Greer sees the good in him but is it all for show? When danger threatens her will Beckett protect her or will he watch from the side lines?

I absolutely loved this book. The storyline has it all romance, suspense, and forgiveness. You can’t help but fall in love with these characters. Greer is a beautiful young lady inside and out. She wants to see her mother happy no matter how miserable she is. Beckett loves football. He is very arrogant in the beginning due to his past but he has a good side to him. These characters have some steamy scenes that will make your temperature rise. I loved that this book was in both characters points of view. It gives you a better understanding on how they really feel. This author will keep you at the edge of your seat until the end. I can’t wait to see what she will write about next.

Battling Beckett is a sports, enemy to lovers, taboo stepbrother romance. Greer Smith and her mother just move in with her soon to be stepfather and stepbrother. The problem with the merger is that Greer and her mother have always worked for everything that they have, and now they are living with people who are millionaires. Beckett is the most popular kid, at a private school, and the quarterback of the football team. Beckett is not happy about these women coming into their home and lives. He was taught to never trust women, they all are after their money. Due to this thinking, he is mad that Greer is there and now attending his expensive private school. At the beginning he tried to deny they knew each other and was rude and mean to her all the time. Throughout the story, Beckett tries many different things to get Greer to show her “true self”. Greer, while not happy about her situation, doesn’t want to get him in trouble in any way, and kind of starts to crush on him. Slowly, the two get close and that starts to bring a lot of attention to Greer, which she hates. One night she gets hurt and that is when Beckett starts to change his tune. Greer doesn’t try to change Beckett on purpose, but there is something about her that Beckett can’t seem to stay away from.

I really enjoyed this book. I am a sucker for taboo topics and enemy to lovers tropes. Greer was always an independent woman, but she turns into a woman who also starts to come out of her shell and stand up for herself, even through all the mixed signals and hurt. I loved watching her character development. I too loved Beckett, even though he was an ass at the beginning. Like Greer, you couldn’t blame him for his way of thinking, due to the past. Also, while he was an ass, you also saw, from the beginning, that he did care, even though he didn’t want to. His growth and love was evident as he started to care more and more for her, which I loved. The sexual tension between the two was also amazing. I felt like I was always waiting for it to happen, and when it did, it was slow but good. (Try to overlook the bad editing because the story is good)

I thoroughly enjoyed Battling Beckett, despite it bringing back memories of high school. I was that girl in high school then guys were embarrassed to admit openly they have feelings for. Making the main female character very relatable. The author wrote an extremely strong female lead that went through some devastating situations. Yet she still got back up and didn’t let that stop her.
Greer is new to high society, and her future step-brother Beckett has no desire to make it easy for her. She doesn’t fit in. She’d rather be back at her public school, though she knows the private school can open doors for her. Unfortunately she also has to deal with Beckett. She has no idea what his deal is, but she knows he’s always watching her.
Beckett, is how could my dad do this to me. Bringing home a woman and her daughter that’s just out for his family’s money. (That hit close to home too! Being accused of being something you’re not, especially when it comes to money.) And despite knowing all that Beckett can’t take his eyes off of Greer. His inner battles of attraction shouldn't be happening. Least that’s how he sees it.
The growth between these two characters is a blessing in disguise. They both have trials and tribulations that they need to get passed.
Can they get past everything to be friends?
Can they get past it to potentially be more?
What happens when Greer ends up in a life threatening situation?
I’ve read this author before and I really enjoy sports romances. Just because this is a high school sports romance, anyone can read it. It has very real issues that are present in life everyday. And I loved how the author brings them to light throughout. Kids are cruel, Teens are worse, and Adults are the worst. People don’t realize how what one does or says can impact another person’s life no matter what age.
Overcoming those things are how we define ourselves.

For me, there is nothing better than an angsty romance, and Battling Beckett gave me exactly what I was looking for, far exceeding my expectations.

Greer is so far from the life she has known. Her mother has just become engaged to a very, very rich man, and now finds herself living in a mansion with none other than her soon-to-be stepbrother, Beckett Dawson. Needless to say, these two are complete opposites. He is the ruler of his private school and the center of everyone’s attention. Greer, on the other hand, tries to blend into the background, just trying to make it through the next nine months until she leaves for college. Beckett has made it very apparent, she and her mother are not welcome. Yet, he feels this pull towards her that he has never experienced before, which makes him even more frustrated and angry. He makes it his plan to break Greer so she will eventually show her true colors, but it may be Greer that breaks Beckett.

As I noted before, the story itself is fantastic, keeping my attention throughout the book. The characters, even the secondary ones, were people I felt invested in. Greer comes across as a timid heroine, but as the book unfolds, she becomes more confident and is determined to not let people walk all over her. I have to say I wasn’t a big fan of Beckett in the beginning. I thought he was going to be your normal, entitled jerk, but he really wasn’t. I could understand his motivation, to protect his father. He revealed his true colors as a guy who passionately protects those he loves.

In older reviews, some have mentioned that the book needed a good proofreader and editor. For those of you who are hesitant to read this one because of that reason, it has been re-edited, and I saw no major editing or proofreading mistakes.

If you are looking for a good story with great characters, you should give Battling Beckett a try! You won’t be disappointed.

This was a enjoyable romance. It is a step-brother romance but it also has a feel of enemies to lovers too which gives the story a bit of a twist and makes it a read that's full of angst and fire.
The characters were well written. Beckett is your typical rich kid who gets what he wants. He is a character that is written to he hated and at first with the way he treats Greer hate is definately what you feel towards him but through the story we see that change.

Greer has her whole life turned upside down when her mum moves them into a new home with Beckett and his dad. The feelings of hate are strong from Beckett the moment they meet. Greer is a quiet girl who doesn't want the constant drama. All she wants to buckle down and succeed
However with Beckett making her life hell and the addition of the mean girls at school this is going to be no easy task for her.
Things get ever more complicated when Greer starts to develop romantic feelings towards Beckett.
Will she act on them or ignore them? Will Beckett ever treat her like she is more than something he stepped in? And what things get hard and Greer is in danger will he step in and protect her or walk away?
It is a fast paced romance full of angst and tension. The chemistry between them is felt through out the story even though at first it came across as hate. As a reader it was nice to actually see and feel the change.

Soooo I have step siblings. I don't like to use the word "step" because to me they're just my siblings. That being said I was very curious as to how this book would make me feel seeing as I could never look at one of my siblings as anything but my sibling...BUT...no lie it was a great story.

I liked that they were from different social groups. Beckett is rich, popular, good looking quarter back of the football team. Every guy wants to be him and every girl wants to be with him. Greer is not poor but doesn't come from money, quiet, not popular, pretty but a “no one really sees her” kinda girl.

I enjoyed the tension between the 2 of them. They both had internal battles about their relationship. They don't really like the other person but can't help this magnetic pull towards each other.

There is also some drama/danger there that makes the story a little more interesting and helps bring the couple closer together.

I think there was some really good supporting characters in the story as well. I really enjoyed how the football team started to treat Greer like a little sister.
All in all I really enjoyed the story. I think it's one of those stories that would make a great lifetime or hallmark movie.

Great story

I really enjoyed this story. The main characters came from opposite worlds but were able to overcome their barriers pretty easily. While I think there as a bully trigger lists somewhere I wouldn’t exactly this this books that easy. The hero was frustrated at driest and held back was ting to study the behavior of the heroine and her mother to see if their intentions were genuine. The most he did was have a little bit of an attitude and for her to walk to the bust stop and ride the bus to school. The bus stop was two miles away and when the hero found out he felt awful and refused to let her walk after that.
Safety:
Heroine was a virgin
Hero had a manwhore past, but seemed like he had move passed that before he met her. Eyes only for her after they met, even when he was angry.
No other man drama, some other woman ( a woman the hero had never been with in any way was obsessed with him and tried to intimidate him).
Overall a really good read and I enjoyed it.

Poor Editing But A Good Story

I liked this book. I do agree with other reviewers that it needs some editing but I still enjoyed the story. What I liked the most is that the author didn't take the typical paths in regards to the actions and motivations of the characters. Except for the villain, the catty mean girls weren't over the top and acted like normal, antagonistic people would. The hero was mean in the beginning but not irredeemably so and had sound reasoning for his actions. Also, even though the hero was the most popular guy in school there was no sense that he could do whatever he wanted and not everyone automatically hated the heroine just because the hero didn't like her. It was refreshing to read. My only complaints other than the editing is that I wish the heroine was a bit stronger in certain scenes though her actions fit how she was written. I also would have liked an epilogue further in the future because I am greedy. Overall, this was an enjoyable read.

I can never get enough of this author and all that they create and bring to life. This novel was no different. I enjoyed the complex level of emotions of the characters with this one. For sure, a worthwhile read.

I loved this one. I loved watching Beckett and Greer against one another. when their families, well collide. I loved Greer since her first introduction, and for Beckett, not so much at first glance. I loved the character development with him, and I changed my opinion of him. Underneath the ruthless skin there were emotions, and I mean a lot, and walls that were put up for a reason. I enjoyed the interactions with him and Greer. For sure, the book had a lot of realism and things we all can relate to. I love how this author brings issues that are faced every day and makes an emotional book come to life that is very much enjoyed! Loved this one!

I love this author and all that they create. I can not say enough good things about them. This is a very much must read book. I very much recommend it. I really enjoyed it and I am so glad I got to read this one.

This book is a high 4 star read. The only reason it isn't a 5 star read is because it took me a bit to warm up to Beckett. He is your typical nasty, rich kid that is just super mean. I feel that if it didn't take as long as it did to warm up to him then I would have enjoyed the book more than I did. However, that being said, this could be the exact feelings the author is trying to portray. I loved Greer from the get go. She knows that Beckett literally sucks in the personality department but is still attracted to him. It made for almost a bully romance book but it wasn't quite there. Which is another reason for the high 4 star rating. I feel like it was so close to being a bully romance that it should have a little more angst and then it would be set. I will say that it was an amazing read and I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes the sports romance, enemies to lovers, edging on the verge of bully romance genres. I was not disappointed with the story line, just the growth of Beckett but that is just my opinion.

Greer’s life is dramatically changed when her mother gets engaged to the father of the football god of Oak High, an exclusive private school for the richest of the rich. Greer wants her mom to be happy, so she transfers to the school and does everything she can to make sure her mom doesn’t know what she’s going through. Beckett Dawson, her new stepbrother has not made her new life easy. He is constantly putting her down or ignoring her at school. Instead of making Greer have a pleasant experience at Oak High, he does whatever he can to make her want to pack her bags and move out of her fancy house. Greer has a crush on Beckett, even with him treating her badly. She is beaten up at school and that changes things. Beckett begins to help Greer whenever he can. Can Greer survive her senior year and put this all behind her or will the drama of the elite be too much for her?
This was such a good read, I was addicted! I hope there will be a sequel of Greer and Beckett in college. This book is filled with friendship, drama, action, twists, and even love.

This was a quick romantic read - full length book but an easy read with a happy ending. It is quick to reach the "I love you"s, but with high school aged kids I think that is pretty normal with hormones running high and everything being new and overwhelming. In the beginning, Beckett is your typical bully, most popular guy in school, athletic and the one everyone wants to be associated with. Greer is the new girl in town (and school) in her senior year of high school. The problem is, Greer is Beckett's new favorite target, and worse than not being able to just keep her distance at school, she lives in his house!

Greer's mom and Beckett's dad are dating. After being together for a short time, they decide for she and Greer to move in with he and Beckett. Beckett is (justifiably) angry and tries to prove they are just gold diggers, not really there because there are feelings involved. However, when Greer is targeted by others, Beckett comes to her defense. From there, it follows along their budding relationship. Overall, an enjoyable read.

This is the first book that I have read from this author and I was not disappointed. I fell in love with this book from the very first page of it. I was not able to put the book down until I had finished from the beginning to end. I highly recommend this book to any and everyone. You won’t be disappointed.
Greer Smith’s circumstances change radically her senior year of high school. Moving from an apartment to a multimillion-dollar mansion should be an easy transition, but her soon-to-be stepbrother makes it hell on earth.
Beckett Dawson is a football god and an arrogant jerk. He makes it clear Greer is not welcome in his home or at his elite private school. And yet, the battle with herself is more confusing than the one with Beckett.
Even with confusing and unexpected obstacles, Greer is determined to find a way to not only survive but also to thrive, no matter what Beckett throws her way. But he’s not going to make it easy.
I’m excited to read more books from the author in the near future

4 solid stars! This book had been on my Kindle for months and being on a YA/bully kick, now seemed the perfect time to pick it up and read it. It did not disappoint.

This being a stepbrother romance, things start off with Greer and her mom moving in with her mother's fiance, aka Beckett's father. What I love about the story is the bond h and her mom share and the genuine affection H's father seems to have for both h and her mother. Dad seems like a really cool guy. His son on the other hand, all star QB, king of the all elite prep high school MC are going to, doesn't seem as cool with the idea of his father getting remarried. He takes his anger and frustration out on h of course who is intent on avoiding him and not causing any trouble, since her mother is so happy. So yes...she is a bit of a push over. In spite of that, there was great tension building up between MC. H went from hating h to slowly warming up to her but still being cautious...

Battling Beckett: A Contemporary Sports Romance by T. Christensen

This isn't the first book I've read by the author. Battling Beckett is a sports romance and I absolutely loved it. It was hard for me to put the book down. It had me interested from the cover and I'm glad I judged this one by the cover.

Greer and her mom move in with her mom's fiance and his son. She doesn't understand why he doesn't like her. Canshe get through to him? The quote I chose for Greer is: "I know. I'm just so happy to see you! It's my treat. Sit!"

Beckett isn't thrilled when Greer and her mother move in with him and his dad. He thinks they have ulterior motives. Then he gets to know Greer and finds himself falling in love. The quote I chose for Beckett is: "I can take them off, but only if you reciprocate. And the parents are here, so we should probably go into my room."

Highly recommended for Sports Romance lovers.
