Sri Aurobindo dedicated his life to the transformation of humanity. His journey saw him traverse many paths, including that of poet, journalist, jailed revolutionary, philosopher, and radical mystic. Essays, translations, literary criticism, political articles, philosophical treatises, poetry, epics, plays and short stories-his writings encompass the depth and range of his extraordinary life. The modern sage commented on spiritual texts such as the Vedas, the Upanishads and the Bhagwad Gita, authored an epic poem, Savitri, presented his integral vision in The Life Divine, wrote on contemporary issues, all the while writing thousands of letters to guide his disciples, and even documenting his inner life in meticulous detail.
The relevance of Sri Aurobindo's message has never been more urgent and compelling, yet, his Complete Works, thirty-six volumes in all, can be a daunting prospect even for those acquainted with his philosophy and practice. Reading Sri Aurobindo introduces each of these volumes through the perspectives of twenty-one contributors. The result is a book packed with insights inviting us to explore Sri Aurobindo's deep wisdom and vision for resolving the fundamental issues facing individuals, societies, and nations today.
💭 What's the best way to connect with other people !? It is to feel connected to their thoughts and perspectives, to an extent where you can say that they are your own thoughts. The ones with whom we can share this are the closest people to us, regardless of their physical presence.
💭The editors of this book felt the same with Sri Aurobindo. They felt a connection towards his thoughts, ideas, perspectives and teachings. This served them as a motivation to go forward with this book, aiming to make his works available to others.
💭Those of you who don't know about Sri Aurobindo, here you go.

📌 It's quite thick though the same can be said about the content. As it took me almost 2 months to grasp the extent of the information it holds. Definitely not your regular books. As a matter of fact books exploring such diverse work do need an empty mind and focus. So, if you can relate with what is mentioned above then this might be a good fit for you.
Each chapter introduces a volume of the official Sri Aurobindo(SA) work published by the ashram in Pondicherry.
Although I agree that reading SA is a bit challenging, but still some essays in the above compilation are too abstract and filled with terminology(created by SA) that are not even defined anywhere in the anthology.
Still essays on bande matram, nationalism, defence of indian culture and vedas were a respectable intro to the Ocean that SA is.
A primer into the writings of Sri Aurobindo. A good read, for someone who hasn't been initiated into the deeper concepts of spirituality and Indic thought
