Just reading this book made me tired! I guess I am not “productivity” material. While I have goals and dreams, I just don’t feel a need to get as super-specific on a day-to-day basis as this book espouses. It is ostensibly also about setting up multiple daily routines, ones to keep you more focused so you can be healthy and attain your goals.
Step one is all about your goals: making them specific, including dates. Step 2 is all about setting up routines: morning and evening, workout, nutrition, sleep, and hustle (when you work on your dream/goals). The author actually recommends eating the same three meals every day. I cannot imagine doing that. (Also lots of eating do’s and don’ts… Ugh…) I also cannot imagine having a 2-hour morning routine that includes so much. I’m a night shift nurse who needs plenty of sleep on workdays. That’s definitely a problem I’ve seen in a LOT of productivity journals or ones with morning and evening routines. The authors/publishers always seem to assume everyone has a similar daytime schedule; we don’t all! Some even say that getting up early is essential; hey, I’m already working at that time, finishing up my “workday.” The bulk of the book is single pages the reader is supposed to fill in each day. It starts like a gratitude journal, followed by a space to put your important tasks of the day. It has little checkboxes for nutrition, staying calm as well as a few others. It also has an evening reflection section, where you are supposed to note focus, discipline, and output. There’s even a box to keep DAILY track of your financial income and expenses (daily… really??). Finally, at the bottom of the daily page is a question and a few lines for an answer… about how you can improve your productivity. I can’t imagine doing that daily. This journal may work for someone who wants a supremely regimented life, but it is certainly not for everyone. Hopefully, the details I’ve given above will let you know if this book fits your personality and the way you like to live your life.
I received a free digital copy of this journal, but that did not affect my review.
