His Dirty Obsession

Rate this book
Ben

If a quickie was all I wanted, no strings attached, I called Dick.
That was the arrangement, that was the deal.
But when Xavier Ward walked into my life with his sexy smirk and sinful body, it was the last thing on my mind.
I lusted after him. Watched him. Wanted him.
He was my dirty obsession.

Xavier

Who knew my landlord would be so hot? I certainly didn’t but he was everything I wanted. I just didn’t know how to tell him.
So I let him do what he wanted. I let him watch me. It fulfilled my fantasies and I’m sure it fulfilled his too.
Could we make it work? Could it be more than this?
I was his dirty obsession, but little did he know, he was mine too.

Alex is an MM author from the NW of England. She's married with three grown-up sons and two Tamaskan dogs, her night time companions when she's writing into the early hours!

She writes gritty, realistic, mainly contemporary romance but always with a happy ever after.

Her tagline? Finding Forever - One Chapter at a Time.

An avid reader, she started writing one lunch break, writing her first book in no time at all. From there, her passion grew and The Nava Dance Studios series was born. Her writing style has changed, a darker feel creeping into her work and while she doesn't profess to be a dark author, she covers some socially dark subjects.

She'd love to move somewhere sunny with a beach view, continuing to write about her perfectly, imperfect men.

Finally, I'd be getting the dick I so craved. And what a dick. It was thick, veiny and uncut, but his foreskin was pulled back, revealing the head. It was leaking steadily, drop by drop onto the kitchen floor.

book cover? gorgeous. blurb? sinful. the story, however, may not be what i was originally hoping for but i'm taking it. i also liked the characters, ben and xavier, and i just hoped we get to see more of them because telling their story in a little more than a hundred pages is a crime. loved their chemistry and how they try to uplift each other's spirit-very supportive. and lastly, the sex between these two was heaven.

Ben and Xavier are interesting characters, I wish there had been more pages that went into more depth about them. They have a nice chemistry that allows them to really be sensitive to each other despite all the sexual obsession.
Well, and besides, if you're here for a little smutty reading time, you've come to the right place 😊 In the beginning the sex scenes are steamy with all the voyeurism and exhibitionism, this could have been fleshed out more, I think.
But then, it would be more sex on top of sex 🧐 I can think of worse things 🙂
A quote expressing that there would have been more potential in this story:
“You could have any man you wanted. I just wondered why you chose me. I’m not exactly…”
“Don’t you fucking dare do that, Ben. I like who I like. It’s not always about looks or muscles.”

This book was just an ok read for me. I just really didn’t feel the attraction between Ben and Xavier. I think I’ve read so many books that I enjoy the story a lot more than the sex. Usually a dominant man really gets me into the story, but for some reason I just didn’t feel it with Ben.

A forced-proximity, opposites attract romance that features a LOT of steam. with a dollop of exhibitionism and voyeurism to add to the heat.

It's also a sweetly funny sister's friend romance that has a different tone than Alex's other work.

Please note the story is set in England, uses British English, and includes British cultural references, but not so many as to be distracting to readers who are not from the UK. I could hear the accents in my head, which endeared both MCs to me even more than they already were by being such lovely men.

3.5 stars. That was a quick read, a few hours of fun with sexual tension and sexual activity.
Don’t expect too much story, the beginning was mostly about mild voyeurism and exhibitionism and further all about the sex they had.

Xavier needs a place to stay and Ben needs a new tenant to share the costs. Ben’s sister brought them together. There’s an immediate attraction. The temperature is rising. They have their eyes on each other, openly and secretly, but always aware!

It’s all about lust, secretly watching, and being watched, there’s no angst, no stress, just fun and a LOT of sex. The obsession from the title was maybe a big word, it was all quite mild.
The storyline was feather-light, it’s all about their interactions. The writing was good, attractive, and captivating, with a nice flow. If you love a superlight sexy read, here it is!

Thoroughly enjoyed this quick read by Alex Adams. Ben and Xavier were great characters, and while they were only marginally developed, it made sense given the length of the book. Enough information was provided to allow the reader to create a mental image of them to further the story as well as providing a context for the situation which brought them together (which is where the reader picks up their saga).

Ben is a web designer and works solely from his home. To get additional income he rents one of his rooms. His sister, Ava, has a friend Xavier in quick need of a place. Turns out the arrangement works great. The only catch appears to be that Ben quickly develops a facination with Xavier. One that rapidly turns to obsession.

Xavier is very aware of Ben's interest (though Ben tries to hide it), and does things intentionally to flirt and encourage this obsession. Why you ask? Because he is equally interested in Ben, but neither is being forthcoming about their feelings. UGH!!!
These two are both so kind, giving, thoughtful, available (despite Ben's hookup with a friends-with-benefits), strong, supportive, possessiveness, family oriented, and loving they really make a great match.

Now if they can just past the stage of watching & being watched, and get on with being honest and open they could make some progress. Grab your copy and find out if they make the leap! I got an ARC and happily leave this honest review of my experience. Happy Reading 📚

Xavier and Ben are roommates, Xavier renting a room from Ben. Xavier is gorgeous, young and, Ben assumes, straight. Ben is handsome, older and gay. Xavier takes care of coffee and breakfast while Ben takes care of dinner. Ben also enjoys taking care of himself while secretly watching Xavier unknowingly take care of himself. To be fair, Xavier seems to prefer his self-care to be done in common areas – the kitchen, the shower with the bathroom door open, etc.

When Ben’s FWB comes by to tell him that he’s moving away, having finally achieved the promotion he’d been working toward, they have one last mutually beneficial meeting in the kitchen. The tables seem to have turned, because Xavier walks in and, instead of making himself known to Ben’s friend, he encourages Ben to stay quiet and watches the meeting… come to a conclusion.

What happens from there is two men, one the lodger and one the landlord, dancing around one another. They flirt, spend time awkwardly avoiding the dirty obsession they’ve both indulged in and, finally, come together. What starts out as time to spend together with no parameters becomes a relationship with no angst, no real drama and Xavier’s nude debut on the stage. I expected more angst from the spying and perhaps Ben’s struggles with what Xavier would want with him long-term, but it was missing and in its place was a whole lot of steamy spice, declarations and love. This was my first book by Alex J. Adams and I really enjoyed it. Xavier and Ben were sweet, hot, bumbling and perfect together.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and, as always, my review is unpaid and honest.

If you’re looking for a high heat, low drama MM romance, then look no further than His Dirty Obsession by Alex J Adams!

This novella is hot from start to finish as Ben and Xavier navigate their attraction to each other when Xavier moves in with Ben as a lodger.

Ben is instantly attracted to Xavier and can’t help admiring him. At first he doesn’t know Xavier is gay and tries to fight it, thinking it’d be wrong to pursue his lodger anyway, but he’s constantly watching him, constantly aroused, and constantly driven to distraction.

Little does he know that Xavier is fighting the same battle but, unlike him, Xavier likes to tantalize and tease Ben by practicing for his upcoming role as a stripper in front of him and leaving the bathroom door open while he showers.

Once these two give in to the sexual tension between them, all bets are off as Ben’s dominant side comes out and Xavier loves every minute of it!

While there is a little drama due to Ben’s “friend with benefits”, His Dirty Obsession is a super spicy story complete with flirting, teasing, voyeurism, exhibitionism, and a happily ever after.

Oh, and fair warning? A cold shower will likely be required!

And what an obsession to have!

Ben and Xavier are roommates that are secretly, then not so secretly obsessed with one another. I have to say, the tension is spot on as things between them become more heated. I liked that it was an organic progression and that we got to see the story through the eyes of both Ben and Xavier.

The steam is perfection for the way the story is written and it certainly had me needing a cold shower and a smoke. 🥵 🥵 🥵

If you are looking for a read that is short, hot and sweet then this is definitely a book for you.

Ben and Xavier are roommates who are dancing around their attraction to one another. But man when Xavier decided to make his feelings for Ben known their chemistry just explodes of the pages. I loved the changes we get to see as their relationship continues to grow.

This was my first book by Alex J. Adams and I will definitely be reading more.

I received an free copy of this book for my honest opinion. Independently reviewed for Book Sirens.

Totally obsessed with this short steamy novella. It’s a quick read with lots of spice and a HEA that does not disappoint.

Xavier needs a place to stay after losing his apartment. Ben’s sister Ava introduces both of them and Xavier ends up renting a room from Ben. They form a little routine having coffee in the morning before they go off to their respective jobs. Xavier is actor beginning a play he’s nervous about and Ben works from home.

The story that follows is a dance of mutual attraction, some voyeurism, possibly a little teasing until both Ben and Xavier give into their attraction. They are adorably sweet characters and they have such a good dynamic.

This was definitely a fun book to read-not a lot of drama, lots of steam, good side characters (hello cheeky Aunt Edith!), and a great ending!

What a wonderfully erotic romance filled with voyeurism, vulnerability and love. It's essentially a gay porn with emotions!

In this very short novella, Ben rents out on a room to his sister's friend Xavier. But Ben is instantly obsessed with his new roommate, spying on his naked body through barely opened doors... little did he know that Xavier was aware of this espionage and was not only revelling in it but also fueling the horny fire.

Told in both Ben and Xavier's point of view, this story is instantly sexual. It caught me off-guard as I usually prefer some build up. In fact, I found it a little off-putting at first as I found it a little overdone and corny (there was something about imagining Xavier riding a black stallion in the first pages). That being said, about a quarter way through, the two men start flirting and opening up to one another and this is where the story goes from slightly cringy to absolutely breathtaking. Their chemistry oozes off the page, their vulnerability is honest, their imperfections are accepted, the anticipation is palpable and the sex is toe-curling astounding.

It is truly a beautifully sexy read! I am impressed that the author could convey so much authenticity in 127 pages! It left me wanting so much more! I could've done without the epilogue as it was a little rushed in terms of timeline in my opinion but I'll just omit it during my next reread.

Thank you to BookSirens and Alex J. Adams for this free ARC.

I approached this book with caution, there was no need! This is a wonderful book, it has steam mind you but there is also a good storyline.

Ben is a work from home, stay at home guy that has not met the "one" yet. That is until his sister asks for a favor. The favor? Letting the very hot actor, Xavier, rent his spare room as he is being evicted by his current landlord. He was not aware when he agreed as to how hot Xavier is! Xavier is a stage actor in need of a place to stay and is shocked when his friend Ava suggests renting a room from her brother. Little did he know how attractive the brother is. All of the attraction between the two leads to a bit of voyeurism by both of them. It also prompts Xavier to ramp up his flirting with Ben under the guise of practicing for his new role as a stripper. This is really a slow burn type story as it is only after they are friends that things begin to happen. Ben takes a bit to believe that Xavier is not using him as a fling of the moment. Once they get past that hiccup, Ben shows a side of himself no one expected but pleases Xavier in many ways!
I would definitely recommend this book and expect a bunch of sexiness. But there is a real story of two men that learn that they can love and be loved by that one special person. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This book was dirty, and sexy, and took voyeurism to the hot roommate level. I’m not one for the dominant thing myself. But the way Alex J. Adams wrote it in this book… There are no appropriate words I can use in this review. I can just say I was there for it. In the book. It’s just one of those books that you read and keep reading because you know it’s a smexy book and you’re waiting to see what’s coming next. I’ll tell you… all levels of H.A.W.T!

I liked the story. Xavier was a kick. I liked that even though he’s the clear hottie there’s a lot more to him than his looks. And Ben… just has so many layers. As much as I liked Xavier, Ben was my favorite. He was unexpected.

Again, Alex J. Adams came out swinging. She’s giving me whiplash with her writing in the best way. Her books often stay with me for a while as her stories have a profound effect on me. This one was a much lighter read in comparison to her usual work but that said she managed to, I hate to use the word surprise as I know she’s an exceptional writer, but… she definitely knows how to keep me intrigued no matter what she writes.

His Dirty Obsession by Alex J. Adams is perhaps the sweetest, voyeuristic & risqué MM romance. With a ton of mutual pining that poor Ben was oblivious to. Ben was such a lovely guy, considering his peeping Tom tendencies on his lodger Xavier. Ben's total naivety was so enchanting at first but as his character developed we get a sense of someone with deep insecurities. I absolutely loved how Xavier installed confidence in him and gave him a new lease of life, even though Xavier was completely enraptured and enamoured by the guy just the way he was. It was lovely to see a character who changed himself for his own happiness and not his lovers. These two were head over heels for eachother and completely oblivious for the most part. It made for some adorably funny moments and I loved Xavier's total enjoyment over teasing Ben. That epilogue was a perfect antidote for tying up this infatuating read. Ben and Xavier are a potent story about obsession and the power of a lust so right

I received this book for an honesr review.

It’s a quick read about two guys lusting after one another.  Great for a little in-between time passing.

There are some hot scenes!  But not much else I’m afraid.

I didn’t get to know either of the MC’s really.  It’s just about wanting to jump each other’s bones and to be honest, I didn’t get the “connection” that developed from this brief encounters we got to share with them.

Physically, yes.  Emotionally?  Well, I would have liked to have a whole heap more of the off page bonding happening ON page?  Does that make sense?

There are no deep discussions, no getting to know each other, well,  with the exception of each other’s intimate body parts that is.  LOL

You don’t get to know how they tick, what makes them who they are.  You don’t get any character growth or relationship growth.  Hence the eyebrow lifting at the ending.

I guess some people can build a life off having great sexy times!  LOL

It was a fun read, light and silly and like I said, great little in-between time passing.  I enjoyed it for what it was.

Independent reviewer for Book Sirens, I was gifted my copy of this book.

I loved this book, so forgive me it I keep this short and sweet for fear of repeating myself and gushing so freaking hard!

It's one of those you just READ, you know?? You fall into it, and blink and its over and every one is happy ever after and couple of hours have past and you are all. . . .AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Its smexy, so smexy and I loved that both Ben and Shane had been watching each other, thinking the other didn't know. But they did, and thats WHY the doors were left open a smidge. Thats WHY boxer shorts were clothes for the day. And when they do make a move on each other?? They are ALL in and in so far, so fast and so deep so darn quick!

And that's it! Just two guys, getting there smexy on and living their happy ever after. No drama, no falling out, making up, none of that and I think that's why I loved it, cos it has NONE of that.

So I loved it. End of.

5 full and smexy stars

4.5 stars.

I've read everything Alex J Adams has written, and honestly I think she gets better with each book. This one is a bit of a departure from what she's written before and that's a good thing. This is a standalone (so far 😉) story with a ton of heat - no joke, this is scorching hot - and yet with the underlying comfort and sweetness I've come to expect from Alex.

There's no angst in this story, no traumatic event for them to get past to be together, this is just two men who find themselves living together and finding out they have more in common than they thought. That's not to say there's no story, because there is. If I'm honest I thought the voyeurism would be more pronounced and it might bother me but it's so well done, dare I say it's consensual as Xavier knows he is being watched even if Ben doesn't truly realise that.

I really enjoyed this, I adored the dynamic between Ben and Xavier, that switch between dominance and submission was so well done, I love that little bit of play between them, just added to the heat. It's H O T, like 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 hot, and I loved it all.

I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

Obsessed much

This is is a little spicy, alot hawt. I love this story. Took them long enough but definitely worth the wait. Snows a homebody grow out of his in The shadows obssession into a man truely in love, but even in love a little insecure in how strong his lovers love is. Shows a open showman with only one insecurity and hookup to find out he wants little show and outgoing and more alone and home. Nervous only when want to ask for what he wants. As each mans obsession becomes more then an obsession, and n unsure wht this is situation finds it's definition. This couple finds those way to happy place. Come meet Ben and Xavier and figure out who is who and what happens when you have a dirt obsession and aren't alone. Excellent work or literary art shared to our talent author from her equally talented muse she let this one grow on you and then gave you the push you needed. Love the result.

This is a quick, extremely steamy read. One to make you hot under the collar.

Xavier moves into Ben’s place at the behest of Ben’s sister, and to help with the costs. Neither will admit it but there is a mutual attraction. One that burns brightly. Xavier is well aware that Ben’s eyes are always on him, and he doesn’t mind one bit.

As these two engage in the dance of lust and attraction, things heat up to combustion levels! But they also discover there’s something beneath their physical desires.

The story is really about their sexual attraction and their interactions, so if you like a well-written light story with A LOT of sex, this makes for a fun afternoon read.

Well. That was a scorching hot read. I am 100% all about it.

We basically jump right into Ben’s obsession with Xavier. He is mentally obsessed with him. Can’t stop thinking about him in all the delicious and dirty ways. He is absolutely driven to distraction by Xavier and feels like those feelings can never be returned.

Xavier is quite aware of Ben’s watchful gaze. Xavier’s innuendo and teasing of Ben was one of my favorite parts of this book. He’s all but daring Ben to take the leap over and over again. The exhibitionism in this book is *chefs kiss.*

I enjoyed Ava, Ben’s sister and her support of him. Even Aunt Edith was a riot. But I very much enjoyed this salacious little story turning into a delightful little love story. Ben and Xavier complimented each other so well and I was very satisfied with their HEA.

This was an entertaining book, but if you're looking for a good plot, you should look elsewhere. However, in the author's words, this was something different from what she usually writes (and I should know this, because I like what she writes and it was one of the reasons I decided to read this book), she just wanted to write something hot and sexy, and that, she delivered.

This story is about Xavier and Ben. They didn't know how to make the other see that they wanted each other and started a game of cat and mouse, where they mainly spied on each other. Voyeurism at its finest. Especially to Ben, who was enjoying enormously, though not without guilt, what Xavier had to offer on view.

Until one day Xavier couldn't take it anymore and put the cards on the table.

Hot, steamy and sexy.

I was given and advanced copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

Ooo so so spicy 🌶️

This is a sweet, hot and short story about Toby and Xander who meet when Xander need a new place to stay. And it so happens that Toby has a room to rent out. Perfect! 😄

Toby get obsessed about Xanders perfectness and can’t keep his eyes off of him. Even when Xander don’t know he is. Or is he? 😏

They dances around each others for a while, but off course that kind of mutual attraction can’t be tamed. And when they let go? They explode in some really hot sexy times. 🔥😏

If you want a short read, with lots of spice and two lovely men who are perfect together, this book is for you!

Also, Richard needs he’s own book. 😌

Ben’s sister, while helping Xavier out, volunteers Ben’s extra bedroom as a rental. From the beginning as Xavier and Ben meet there is instant attraction. But Ben doesn’t want to cross the line and mess up his relationship with his renter. This story is different than ones I’ve read by this author before. It has voyeurism, exhibitionism and a few laughs. Picturing Ben spying on Xavier made me laugh. This story is sexy and fun. The development of how this attraction is acted on held my attention just to see what these two might do next. Ben’s sister actually plays a big part in this story and her relationship development was interesting. I really enjoyed the way the author put everything together in the end.
