A brand new Western adventure sequel from Dave P. Fisher!
Ambrose Lacey and Gilbert Bean escaped from the Wyoming Territorial Prison and had a free run for seven months. They thought themselves safe, hiding in the Laramie Mountains with their kin to protect them. They should have stayed in hiding, but instead bossed a gang of their kin in an extortion scheme against travelers and a peaceful settlement of merchants and farmers along the Laramie River.
Lacey and Bean’s time began to tick away the day Sheriff Jeff Carr pointed out their wanted bulletins to Jack and Long Rider, and they took the fugitives as their next job. The fugitive’s time grew shorter when Jack and Long Rider came on the settlement and taught the townsfolk how to fight back. Their time came to an end when they tried to run. Just as the Upton cousins learned, once Jack Seaver and Long Rider got on your trail, there was no place to run or hide.
I have been a writer of adventure novels of the Old West. I have now branched out to writing contemporary crime novels with a suspense/mystery base. What I feel makes these unique is that they are set in the modern West and Alaska, as opposed to exotic world and big city settings. They involve average people and local law enforcement agencies.
My writing influence comes from my ancestral roots. Mountain men, voyageurs, pioneers, and explorers make up the branches of my family tree. My paternal grandfather was Blackfoot Indian from Montana. My maternal grandfather was a Minnesota lumberjack, both men were born in the 1800’s.
As a lifelong outdoorsman I have inherited that pioneer blood and followed in the footsteps of both my families. I have experienced life in the Alaska bush, as well as the wilderness of the Rocky and Cascade Mountains, as a working cowboy, guide, horsepacker, hunter, and trapper. I also spent several years as a Colorado Deputy Sheriff. This experience in the law enforcement field allows me an intimate insight to the system that I weave into my new crime genre stories. I incorporate all of my experiences into my stories to ingrain them with authenticity and draw the reader into the story by their realism and a personal knowledge of the people and lifestyle involved.
I have near to 500 fiction and non-fiction works published. Included are: 19 novels and short story collections, 70 short stories, and inclusion in 18 anthologies. I am the first 3 time winner of the Will Rogers Medallion Award, in 2008 for Best Western Fiction, and again in 2013 for Best Western Humor, and 2014 for Best Western Novel. Nine of my short stories have earned Reader’s Choice Awards.
I started with book 1 and have continued on to finish this one. The stories are well written, interesting and I love the interaction between the two heroes! They're very entertaining and remind me of the dry wit so often found among real life first responders in real life. I'm off begin the next book in this series!
Outstanding read .. love the 'humor' between the two main characters...their comments make me laugh out loud many times as I'm reading. These are extremely entertaining books .. if you're not reading them, you're missing out on some great novels. And it doesn't take days to read them .. just a few hours on a single day and you can move on to the next adventure. These aren't love stories, just the interaction of two great cowboys seeking to right what's wrong in the world. This guy is my new favorite author! I love historical fiction and Fisher delivers. The stories have suspense, intrigue, prejudices, and humor. Based on historical settings. At the end of each book is a history lesson of life not too long ago. This is a wonderful reminder of our roots.
This review is for the whole series Storylines flow No annoying fillers Story told with dialogue Dialogue is witty Character interaction is interesting Historically better than most other western writers
This is such a GREAT! story! I love the interaction between the two main characters. Many laughs on this readers part. Love dry humor. I highly recommend to all who love Westerns and love a good laugh to boot.
Excellent continuing saga that is hard to put down or stop reading. The book flows smoothly, is an easy read with few grammatical errors. Keep The good work writiing
This was a well written and suspensfull western. It was loaded with action, gun fights, and pursuit of outlaws. It was a very enjoyable tale and one that I had a hard time putting down. I would definitely recommend it!
Action, adventure, and humor! What a great book. You not only get the excitement of a good Western, you also get the humor that Dave Fisher uses in his novels. Wonderful book!
Just as good as the first two books. Well written. Enjoy the banter between Jack & Long Rider. Reminds me of the crew partner I had back in my radar shop (Air Natl Grd).
Server and Long Rider track down a gang extorting money from a small mountain town. The two bounty hunters have quite a gunfight and accomplish their mission.
It is funny the way the two characters go at each other but with friendliness and learning lessons abide. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series
