Micalea Smeltzer is an author from Northern Virginia. Her two dogs, Ollie and Remy, are her constant companions. As a kidney transplant recipient she's dedicated to raising awareness around the effects of kidney disease, dialysis, and transplant as well as educating people on living donation. When she's not writing you can catch her with her nose buried in a book.
As the title suggested, this was a sweet one. Saccharine sweet. Wall to wall, embedded with a ton and a half of sugar, corn syrup and molasses sweet.
If anyone knows me, you know high angst isn’t typically my cup of tea but if it’s done right, I’m all over it. And this author does it right.
I can’t believe I’m saying this but I think I liked it better when Dani and Lachlan were pining for each other.
That’s not to say they weren’t adorable, they were. I would dream to be in a loving relationship like theirs. It just doesn’t make for a very exciting story, not when that’s all there is.
I’m glad I read it and got to catch up a little with my forbidden couple now that they’re not so forbidden. I loved the ending.
Super short & sweet story, more of a bonus scene with Lachlan & Dani. It's been so long since I've read Sweet Dandelion it was nice to revisit these characters
3.5 stars. This was a cute little Christmas novella that should be read after Sweet Dandelion, as it follows characters from that book and takes place after the ending of that book. We get to see Dani and Lachlan spend their first Christmas together as a couple. Lots of holiday fun: making snow angels, snowball fights, and sledding. We get some family and friends time as well: her brother Sage and her friend Ansel (we even get a glimpse of his book). This didn’t really add too much to the story, but it was cute enough. One thing I thought Sweet Dandelion was missing was Lachlan’s POV, so this whole novella is actually told from his POV.
I liked this little follow-up to Sweet Dandelion. The best part is that it’s all from Lachlan’s POV. I still don’t think he expressed enough angst and pain from being separated from her, just like the first book, but maybe that’s just because I’ll never forgive him.
Well this just completely melted my heart over and over again and reminded me so many times over why I just love Dani and Lachlan. Those two are the best and this little bit of more of them was just so dang sweet. It had all of the dynamics of their story that I loved. It brought me back to the world I will never get enough of. It was a short and sweet and memorable time to be back with them and I loved it! Those two will forever own a little piece of my heart, that’s for sure and this little bit of more with them prove that again and again to me.
its been three years of me always wanting to read this novella and then forgetting once Christmas actually comes around but THIS WAS THE YEAR. I finally read it and im so happy I did. I loved sweet dandelion when I first read and getting to have a cute insight into their lives again was so nice. Lachlan is down bad for his girl god I want a man like that !!!!!!
This was such a cute Christmas novella! I loved seeing Dani and Lachlan settle into life together now that they’ve reunited. This was the quick fix I needed after reading Sweet Dandelion!
We also got a glimpse at Ansel’s story!! I cannot WAIT to see him find the love that he deserves!
I’m glad I read this quick novella, after reading Sweet Dandelion I needed to “hear” Lachlan’s POV about Dani. In the novel I never saw his love for her, but I got that in this.
My babies! 🥺♥️ There’s just something about reading a man’s POV. I am so glad we got Lachlan’s POV in this novella. I need the physical copy of this novella on my bookshelf!! ♥️
how do you access this ebook? i’ve looked everywhere and i can’t find it!

A YEAR AND A HALF LATER LADIES AND GENTLEMEN I FINALLY FOUND THE BOOK. ITS ON KINDLE.
YOU GENUINELY DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHEN I SAY SWEET DANDELION IS MY FAVORITE BOOK EVER. THIS SHORT GLIMPSE INTO THEIR FUTURE HAS ME IN ABSOLUTE TEARS. GENUINELY SO BEAUTIFUL.
Diving back into the lives of Dani and Lachlan is like no time has yet they have grown and healed so much. Sweet Dandelion was the first book I read by Micalea and fell in love with every character and her story telling. From how their story started to where they are now is an incredible feeling. I loved getting a little more of Dani and Lachlan’s relationship, the trust, vulnerability, strength, and openness. This novella brought back so many incredible yet heartbreaking memories and made new ones.
“But while she’s staring at the falling white flakes like they’re the most magical thing, I’m looking at her. I’m always looking at her. With surprise. With awe. With love. God, with so much love.”
“Right isn’t always easy. Sometimes it’s heartbreaking.”
“You really have to stop looking at me like that, Mr. Taylor.” I suppress a chuckle. “What am I looking at you like?” “Like…” She pauses, her nose crinkling in thought as she searches for the right explanation. “Like I’m the greatest thing you’ve ever set your eyes on. There are far greater wonders in this world.” “Ah,” I breathe, “not to me.”
“Okay.” She pulls away, plucking her phone off the bedspread. “But if you see me shove my brother down a hill today just pretend you didn’t.” I chuckle. “What hill?” She looks up from her phone, a smile spreading over her face. “Exactly.”
“Lach-ness,” he adds in a grumpier tone. “Hey, Sage,” I chuckle, amused by his nickname for me. Dani punches him in the stomach. “Be nice.” “How was that not nice?”
“You saved her,” Sasha adds, reaching up to adjust the beanie on her head, her long blonde hair blowing around her shoulders. I stop walking, watching Dani ahead as she tosses her head back and laughs before dropping from her brother’s back. “No,” I say confidently, “she saved herself.”
“She swats at him in agitation, but he easily dodges her reach. “Are you two ever going to grow up?” Sasha asks, picking up her glass of soda. “No,” both siblings answer simultaneously.”
“You,” she whispers, pulling my arms tighter around her. “Just you, here holding me.” “That’s enough?” I ask in surprise. “It’s everything.” I feel the truth ringing in her words. Sometimes all we need is someone we love to hold us close and remind us that despite the chaos in the world we’re not alone.”
“I think it’s hitting me harder this year, because I’m settled. Does that make sense? The first year I was stuck in a hospital. The next, I was…” Her cheeks pinken. “Wrapped up in my feelings for you,” she finishes with a soft laugh. “Last year I was in Paris. Now, I’m … I’m home.”
This is a short, 43 page story set after the events of Sweet Dandelion, but before the prologue I think. I was meant to read this sooner, closer to the time after I had finished SD. Don't quite remember why I never got round to it. I'm reading it now because I'm having a mid-year freak out and trying ti catch up on my reading goal by reading shorter books.
This was okay. I have a feeling it would have read a tad repetitive had I read it sooner. Which, if I remember correctly, was my main issue with SW to begin with. Still think Dandelion is very realistic for not getting over her trauma, even years after. She's no longer a wreck, but grief isn't something you grow out of. Rather, you grow around it.
Is this novella a required read? Absolutely not. You don't need to read this by any means as I don't think it adds an awful lot. But if you'd like to read a bit more about Dandelion, Sage and Ansel, this is a nice, light read. Set before the events of Ansel's book (I think), if his book ever comes out that is.
I loved the bonus Ansel’s thanksgivings POV was 100% my favorite part of the novella.
But overall I was hoping for more from Dani and Lachlan. I am happy that they are happy but the domestic scenes just felt very childish and cliche. The characters didn’t feel like themselves. At the end of sweet dandelion Dani has grown so much and matured and now reading this she felt so childish. And idk it just didn’t feel right. It didn’t even feel domestic and happy it just felt forced and childish at times.
I was hoping for more. Kind of a let down.
I’m not even sure if I’m excited for Ansel’s book Meet Me In Paris. The little glimpse we get at the book just doesn’t seem like my vibe, or at least the glimpse we get isn’t interesting enough to make me excited for ansle and Sofia’s story. It just sounds super hit or miss. I’ll give it a try when it gets released bc I love ansel so much and want to see him get his love but I’m not sure. Maybe when she has a blurb for the book it might be better to understand if I’ll like it or not.
Although I would absolutely love a full-length book as a sequel to Sweet Dandelion, Sweet Christmas is perfect as it is, a quick read with steam and merriment that leaves your soul warm and cozy. Yes, that's my way of explaining the feeling I've been left with after finishing this short story. I loved the switched POV from Dani to Lachlan this time, and I liked how Sage and Sasha found "their person" in each other. Now the cherry on top of this beautiful cake of literature would be Ansel finding a girlfriend. Perhaps a sequel to this sequel? The only downside I see after reading Sweet Dandelion and Sweet Christmas is the lack of sequels. Lucky for us lovesick readers, the extremely talented Micalea Smeltzer has so many other books to devour! If you haven't read her work yet, read the love story of Dani and Lachlan immediately!
Sweet Dandelion by Micalea Smeltzer is the book that made me fall in love with her work and I just absolutely love Dani and Lachlan‘s story.
Sweet Christmas is a little novella that takes place after Sweet Dandelion and shows their first Christmas as a couple. I loved getting Lachlan‘s pov and it just showed how much he loves Dani. The novella is romantic and spicy and it was just everything. I’m so happy that this was the first christmas romance I’ve read this year and I’m starting off strong this season.
I highly recommend to check out Sweet Dandelion and then this novella.
I had no idea this novella even existed! until i stumbled upon it a few days ago. I read Lachlan and Dani's story almost two years ago but was almost instantly transported back into their world just by reading the first few pages. this was so comforting to read about two characters that i had missed.
in this novella, you see the two of them together and with their family over Christmas. if possible, they're even cuter here. i had a smile on my face the entire time and was tempted to reread their book again. I'm so glad this exists so i can continue to go back to it.
Not much to say about this book. Sweet Christmas by Micaela Smeltzer is a short 30-ish peak into Dani & Lachlan’s first Christmas together. It is over the top cheesy with their love for one another. I more enjoy the forbidden romance but I knew going in what this short story was.
I enjoyed that it was completely in Lachlan’s POV. It was almost like an extra epilogue. If you enjoyed the first book. This is cute just to see a sneak peak at their happily ever after.
I give Sweet Christmas by Micalea Smeltzer 3 stars.
Too short to be a book but left you more intrigued. I gave you the point of your perspective of Lachlan on their first Christmas together. It’s about 30 pages long.
Then it gives you a point of view of Ansel when they had Thanksgiving together. Then it gives you a page on the point of view of somebody else that I’m guessing is a love interest to Ansel. I don’t know how that became part of this book.
