The world of America has collapsed following a deadly virus caused by humans that turn the victims into zombies. There are only 4 survivors. A young diabetic child, her teacher, an old man and a young lady police officer. There is no time for gender, age, career or racial issues. The four work together to survive and stay uninfected. In spite of the carnage and stench from human decay, Ethan the teacher remains a realist, is brave, strong, caring and admirable. He is what every good government needs. The message that since teachers teach the future generaton, it is vital that they are excellent role models, instill implcit trust and confidence in their pupils and are able to satisfy their curious minds. The Infected in this short story symbolise undesirable elements of government, negative human authority and traditions to be done away with, otherwise the society will face doom. Mr Green's detailed desciption of some graphic and gruesome details gives the story its horror edge and dark side. An interesting and thought provoking read to be continued in Book 3! Watch out for it!!

Part Two of this book is really good too as they meet new survivors and then they do something stupid like go to a store when they should have just grabbed what they could. Part Two exposes the reality of human nature at a time of chaos. The author did well with that. I enjoyed the book a lot that I was shocked when I read through the whole story of it all.

No to cliffhangers

I really like this story and that it feels like this could happen( not the zombies) , but situations similar to what they are going through. I wish this was a full length story that I could read all at once. Hurry up with the rest, I can barely wait.

not very good

No character development, slow boring plot and predictable story line. What a waste of time. Glad it was at least free.

Dead awake

I really enjoyed this story.
Realistic and full of feeling. Only part I disliked was it's not the whole book. Iook forward to the follow up books.

tingler alert!

This is action packed and moves at a pretty good pace, but way too much dialogue. I kept thinking shut up and hurry!

It was an engaging although somewhat short read. The author has developed the characters and deepened their relationship in this second book, which was action packed and moved fairly quickly.
