A writer of comic books, prose, and animation, Ivan Cohen is best known for introducing the character “Kid Quick” — a non-binary superhero who would later be established as the future inheritor of the Flash mantle — to the DC Comics universe in late 2020. In 2022, Cohen co-wrote Kid Quick's first starring vehicle, DC's MULTIVERSITY: TEEN JUSTICE.
Cohen’s body of work includes the bestselling Space Jam: A New Legacy graphic novel, the acclaimed THE BATMAN AND SCOOBY-DOO MYSTERIES comic book series, and the storybook-style BATMAN RETURNS: ONE DARK CHRISTMAS EVE – THE ILLUSTRATED HOLIDAY CLASSIC. He has also written comics featuring members of the Justice League and the Avengers.
Cohen lives in Manhattan with his wife and their son. He has been called “amazing” and “genius” by The New York Times, though some would argue that, since those were actually rankings in the newspaper’s “Spelling Bee” game, it would be misleading to use them here. The amazing genius humbly disagrees.
The Batman & Scooby-Doo Mysteries, Vol. 2 collects The Batman & Scooby-Doo Mysteryes #7-12.
Sholly Fisch and Dario Brizuela are up to their old magic with volume 2 of Batman & Scooby Doo mysteries. In this volume, Batman and the Gang team up with The Question, The Creeper, and the whole Batman Family while battling menaces like The Joker, The Riddler, Catman, Shaggy Man, and the entire Batman Rogues Galley, complete with Lord Death Man, King Tut, and others.
This is fun stuff. It's light enough for kids but plumbs deep corners of the DC Universe. I love that Ras Al Ghul and Mr. Freeze look like they do in classic Batman: The Animated Series and it's awesome seeing Dario's take on The Question and many of Batman's villains.
I didn't like this quite as much as the first volume but it's still a fun read. Give Sholly Fisch the keys to the DC universe already. You can feel his love for both Scooby and Batman in every story.
Perfect crossover series. Mystery, Inc. teams up with Batman and many related characters such as the Creeper, the Question and the rest of the Batman Family. Light hearted, enjoyable, Saturday morning cartoon vibe.
More Saturday morning cartoon goodness in “The Batman & Scooby-Doo! Mysteries”, Volume 2. Writers Ivan Cohen and Sholly Fisch—-along with artists Dario Brizuela, Randy Elliott, and Scott Jeralds—capture the joy and silliness of a thirty-minute Hanna-Barbera cartoon with the perfect team-up. The kids (and Scoob) of Mystery Inc. and the Dynamic Duo solve mysteries in which Catwoman, the Joker, Harley Quinn, the Riddler, and Shaggy Man(?) are involved. Along the way are numerous cameos by Nightwing, Batgirl, The Question, and the Creeper. This is the perfect comic book to read when, like, you just need to zone out and have a Scooby snack. Zoinks!
Deeply entertaining that builds off the first volume with a fun ending. My only complaint is that I can’t figure out which Robin it is. Based on costume, height, and personality- I’d say Tim (especially since Red Robin wasn’t in the ending ensamble). However, I saw Signal and Batwing who are both active starting around at the same time as Damian. But I don’t think it is him. Maybe he was grounded.
Ah well. I hope there are more volumes coming out soon.
Possibly even better than the first volume, which was already great. The final issue here is worth the price of admission alone, but the other issues aren't anything to sniff at either. Seeing the Scooby Gang and Batman working together with their own strengths and skills on display is just plain fun, honestly, and that's what comics should be at their core.
This is the second part of a 12 issues miniseries.
If you like classic Batman (somewhere between the Batman 66' and BTAS) and classic Scooby Doo stories, these will be right up your alley. They're all ages friendly and just a fun, light read.
This volume of comics was quite the enjoyable one! I loved the Riddler, Creeper, and Question. It was funny and well drawn. It was a great addition to the series and I recommend it for Scooby-Doo fans. 2nd of The Batman & Scooby-Doo Mysteries series.
