She was caught red-handed. There was no way around it. Suzie Fairstone had been caught trying to steal booze from the corner store.
Since her marriage went up in flames, everything in Suzie's life has been a mess. But even this was a new low.
Now she is stuck in Boothbay, at 45-years-old, with nothing to her name except a tiny apartment, a car full of memories, and twenty years’ worth of regret.
Oh, and a weekend in jail it seems…
Sheriff Freddy McCutcheon has the power to solidify her descent to rock bottom, but in a moment of empathy, he gives her an unexpected second chance - with the promise of keeping a close eye on her while she’s in town.
So much for her clean fresh start.
Then just as Suzie begins to get back on her feet, something even stranger starts to happen to her - it appears she’s being followed by someone who has secrets about her husband.
Who is this woman? What does she know? And what does she want from Suzie?
Maybe it isn’t a bad thing Sheriff McCutcheon is keeping an eye on her after all, because he might be the only thing that can help save her.

I went into this book blindly! Seems I've missed beginning of Freddy and Suzie's story...*sad sigh* Due to my lack of sight seems I'll have to go back and read the previous book/books as well because I'm hooked! (✯ᴗ✯)
This books is about Freddy and Suzie's relationship finally moving forward! I loved their humor!
Our Sheriff is a lovable character. I feel sad he can't meet his kids! His ex can have the one-of-my-most-hated-ex badge! Don't worry ex I won't be taking it back. Ever!
Suzie is a likable character too. She did what should have done. Like our Sheriff said she could have continued pretend living but she didn't. Yes her son is mad at her for her choice but even if she stayed I don't think the disaster wouldn't have happened. Since she knew the truth itd have blown one day for sure. And then it'd have been far more terrible mess than when she made the leaving choice Because nothing is the same again after knowing. What can I say about Abigail. She's the absolutely best character. Hope she gets more page time with the secret crush/date! This is my first read by Author Sage Parker. And the writing style is great! Overall, like I mentioned earlier, Im hooked on this read. And my sheriff trope reader self is excited for story continuation! If you're a Sheriff story reader like me, this book is for you. But read it in order. Lol.
I got this book's free copy in exchange for honest review from booksprout!

If this is the first book in the series you're coming across, stop! Go read the first two books. This serial must be read in order to understand the whole thing. Each installment is a short 60-ish pages long and they do end in cliffhangers. If that's not your cup of tea, you may want to either wait until all six installments are published or read the whole book when the book collection is released as one.
Poor Suzie, she gets home and ends up clobbered over the head with her apartment left in ruins thanks to whomever (obviously Lena) broke in. I was annoyed that she wasn't taken to the hospital for a CT scan considering she most likely has a concussion...you don't get hit over the head with something that knocks you out and are just "fine".
As Suzie and Abigail put her apartment back together, Suzie gets under Abigail's skin by asking her about the person whom she, Abigail, is seeing, but her friend is being very tight lipped. Seems her bestie can dish it out, but can't take it.
Something that really bothered me in this book is that Freddy refused to take no for an answer when Suzie said she didn't want to go out with him, even though it would be a no strings attached dinner date. And as a representative of the law, it really, really irked me that he kept pressuring her until she finally caved...um, sir? You should take yourself to jail on coercion charges.
I enjoy these short books released weekly, but it also makes it hard to review them. Each book can be read in 30-45 minutes so you can’t expect any real depth.
This series of books is about two people who have moved to Maine in order to start over - Susie recently found out her husband was sleeping with half the population of Maine and Freddy was left by his wife when she took their kids and escaped to a foreign country.
I like the premise of this book, but I’m really not liking Suzie. She’s a wimp - she was married for 25 years to a dirtbag and she still doesn’t stand up for herself. She also has two grown kids - one of which isn’t speaking to her because Suzie left her husband. Instead of trying to fix things with her kids, she stays in Maine getting cozy with Freddy. Did I mention she had only just left her husband two weeks prior? And shouldn’t she be in Boston attending his funeral, reading the will or at least consoling her kids? These points just don’t sit well with me. But I will continue the series because I want to see what develops.

This is the third title in the Starting Over in Boothbay series. In this book, we find that Suzie is starting to look ahead and try to figure out what's best for her new life in Boothbay. She also feels like she's trapped between her past and her future whenever Sheriff Freddy is around. It hasn't been that long since she packed up and left her cheating husband and only a few short days since he was found murdered. Yet somehow she is feeling like a young girl again when she spends time with Freddy. This story has been building over the last few installments and holds a lot of feeling and mystery in-between the pages. I'm really excited to see how it all will turn out!.

I was attracted to this book by the premise, since I'm also starting over. The story was great. A bit of back and forth between friends, with the hint of a budding romance. It was a quick read. I was able to finish it in one sitting. Take from that what you will. However, knowing ahead of time that fully understanding the story is dependent upon reading the previous books, would've been good to know. Still, standing on its own merits, I enjoyed the book. I may wait until the series is complete to read more. I'm curious about the main character and where her life leads.

More clues are discovered about her stalker and her possible relationship with Roger. Freddy convinces Susie to go on a date with him and their relationship becomes closer with the disclosure of past events which shaped their lives. The book ends in a cliffhanger.

This book starts where the previous book left off. I highly recommend reading the earlier books first.
Susie tries to figure out who might have been in her former husband's life and what their relationship is. Meanwhile she's putting down roots and at least one person is showing interest in her, romantically.
This is a quick read. It's interesting, intriguing, and fun. I received an advance reader copy from the author and Booksprout. This is my honest review.
I enjoyed this instalment so much. As we get further into this book we are discovering more about the mysterious Lena and her possible connection to Suzie’s deceased husband. Suzie finally agrees to go on a date with Freddy. I love these two together and hope they do become a couple but first we need to solve the mystery that is Lena. A great read and am so excited to see what Ms Parker delivers next.

Sage is written a series that you can't put down. Each book picks up where the previous one leaves off so this is a series you'll want to read in order. The characters are fun, enjoyable, easy to get to know and feel like life long friends before you reach the end. A series you don't want to miss out on.

The title drew me in... set in Maine... it's a quick page turner. This is the 1st book I've read in the series, thought it ended suddenly. Now I've discovered it's a 6 pt series and I started in middle! But I was able to easily get into the story, love the characters and can't wait to read the first 2 parts and the next 3 parts. It's a page turner for me!
Next segment in the series Suzie is attacked in her apartment and it was trashed while the intruder searched it. Freddy comes to investigate again. As her husband’s murder investigation continues, the attraction between Suzie and Freddy grows.

Suzi has been knocked out and her apartment has been ransacked. Their attention is turned to Lena. She has stopped stalking Suzi. Where did Lena go and what does she think Lena has in her possession. The mystery continues for Suzi. I absolutely love the way the story leaves you hanging on for more.

Suzie and Freddy are working together trying to find her husband's killer. At the same time their relationship is slowly changing. The author moves the story quickly and smoothly and ends this one with another surprise ending.

I've read a lot of books written by Sage Parker; she is one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books.
This is the third book in the Second Chance Romantic Mystery Series; it is a stand-alone short story. The story continues from the previous book and needs to be read in order.

This storyline keeps getting better and better by the book. The mystery has me so wrapped up in knots and anxious to find out what is going to happen next. What is Lena doing? Will Freddy finally get to question her? How about Susie's son? So many unresolved questions and so little time!!!.

Book 3 starts with Suzie waking up after being knocked out from behind. Her apartment has been ransacked. The police come and believe it was Susie’s stalker but they don’t have proof? Freddy finally convinced Suzie to go out on a date. It’s the best romantic evening she has ever had until….

I liked this 3rd book better then the second. It starts from when Suzie got knocked unconscious. More intrigue and questions arise as prior relationships are uncovered. Where will it take her in book four with the Sheriff?
Wonderful read with lots of twists and turns and unexpected events. Interesting character to follow along in this book full of secrets. Hard to put down and keeps you hooked Until the end. Good read.

The mystery continues in this one. Suzie has been working with the sheriff to found out what happened to her husband. With no luck could she be at a dead end. Looking forward to reading the next book to see what happens next
Following Suzie through this new start to her life and then the old comes back to cause havoc. This is an very, very interesting as each book is read. I am crossing my fingers for Suzie and Frank. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Suzie is taken back to the police station for questioning, protesting all the way saying she is innocent. She didn't kill Roger, since she knew him better then anyone around. Freddy and Jack told her they know she didn't kill him but she knew him and needed answers to help solve this case. She stands firm about this mystery women having all the answers they need.
