Narrowly escaping death? Good. Finding out that the goddess who killed my mother might still be alive? Very bad.

Receiving disturbing news sent me looking for the last person I want to find—my pyro cousin Golo. Unfortunately, he's been elusive enough to give a guy a complex.

When my search takes me to the Thai pantheon, I'm prepared to drag Golo back by force. What I'm not prepared for is my roommate getting kidnapped. Or a beautiful girl with her own agenda and an honest-to-gods monkey tail.

Now, I must travel to the demon city of Lonka to face an old enemy who might or might not be wearing my cousin's face. If I can get through a horde of monsters and sexy killer mermaids. Oh, and did I mention the monkey army? Things are about to get hairy.

Folklore meets humor in this action-packed urban fantasy saga. Perfect for the fans of Kevin Hearne, M.D. Massey, Deborah Wilde, and Jim Butcher.

This is the next (and certainly will not be the last) installment in the saga of Dmitry, who really would like to just brew beer, as suits a demigod of the harvest.

But such is not to be. He is chasing down his violent cousin and then has to deal with his very mundane roommate (and best friend), who abruptly discovers that gods exist and magic exists and his roomie is a LOT more than human.

The quest takes him to the home of the Thai pantheon and a bewildering array of Thai creatures and monsters. And then to some serious confrontations and some unexpected twists.

The book does not end with a cliffhanger, but does end in a state that promises more to come.

Lots of action in this urban fantasy. Dmitry has to deal with his roommate finding out he's a demi-god in the worst way possible as well as trying to save his cousin Golo at the request of his grandmother.

Loved seeing all the Thai monsters and gods represented here. I'd love to see a spin off series with his ferret friend working with Agent Killian. It's heavily implied that she's off doing something important when she ditches Dmitry at the beginning of the book.

Bad decisions all around, but lots of monkeys

Very few good decisions are made in this book. Everyone seems to say, 'what is the worst thing that I could do in this situation?' Then they go with that.
Unfortunately there is an alarming lack of ferret or goblin action, and almost no doings on the home front.
Even with that this was a good read, but not the best in the series. Tom out

Ooh this was a fun one! Unexpected partnerships, surprise twists and turns, and the unleashing of my favorite villain of the series yet. On top of all that, it sets up a book 4 nicely! I think I liked this one of the series best (though Book 2 is right there with it), because it really shapes the greater conflict for Dimitry.

A fun read for fans of UF fiction.

I enjoyed the twist at the climax

The twist at the climax brings into being so many possibilities. It makes the characters and storyline richer. Good story.
