How can you keep your faith when everything else in your life is falling apart? Kristen Utter artistically and authentically shares how she confronted devastating loss and what she learned as she tried to find healing and hope amid the trauma and grief that followed. The life-giving truths she gathered along the way not only sustained her from moment to moment but ultimately reshaped her identity and empowered her to believe that life was worth living and could be good again.
Like Kristen, you may find yourself stuck somewhere between hurt and healing, asking yourself, “If God is good, why is my life so painful?” This book embraces the messiness of pain, loss, tragedy, and doubt while illuminating a pathway toward the simple truth that can make us all Shatterproof.
Kristen’s testimony helped in grieving the loss of my dad. Her insights helped me heal, cope, and understand God’s goodness through all of life’s trials.
This author packaged and presented so many sound ideas, rooted in truth and scripture, that transformed the way I go about my day to day life. Several big issues I’ve had with general Christianity were laid out, described, discussed and reframed into a way I could finally understand and believe in. The best take away for me though - anxiety in several different forms and shapes were touched on and individual healing mechanisms for each of them were outlined based on the characters’ personal experiences with deep, dark trauma. By reading this book, I finally started to live in “what is” with my God, instead of all the fantasy “what ifs” with anxiety. 10/10 please grab this book for you or a loved one - you will not regret it!
This is such a great book for anyone who has struggled with pain, suffering and tragedy in their lives. It is honest and encouraging. It explores challenging a belief in God when the unthinkable happens. It is well written, like having a good long chat with a dear friend over a cup of coffee or tea. Kristen writes from her heart and shares the hope she has found after heartbreaking tragedy she has experienced in her own life.
Such a beautiful, heart breaking, real, and faith inspiring book. Kristen’s writing is eloquent and engaging, inviting readers into a deeper relationship with Jesus through our struggles and doubts. I truly appreciate her honesty, her guidance for people walking with those who grieve, and her ability to weave in messages of trust, acceptance, forgiveness, and hope in a memorable and succinct way.
This book is a beautiful example of one of my favorite attributes of God….how He can bring beauty from ashes, how He can use all things for His good. His love is insurmountable. This book brings light to that with the author’s transparency & willingness to share her story.
The book is a well thought out autobiography of the time of her greatest loss in her life. The honesty with which she writes will give others hope when they go through extremely difficult times in their lives.
It’s a beautiful story of faith after tragedy. I think if I were in a place in life after loss I could have connected better and really appreciated everything the author had to say.
