Two sisters separated at a very young age during a child trafficking bust find each other years later through DNA testing . . .
Cate, a straight shooter who grew up with a house full of brothers, has put her career as a cop on hold to help revive her parents' pub in Arizona following the recent economic downturn. She has never given a thought to the fact that she is adopted—until she meets her biological sister. Victoria, genteelly raised as an only child in Savannah, Georgia, discovers through genetic testing that her mother, who has died of breast cancer, is not her biological mother. When she learns that her father is a crook, and worse yet, in cahoots with her fiancé, she leaves Savannah to seek out her sister and get answers.
As they begin to look into the old case, unexpected roadblocks only make them dig in their heels. Their quest takes them to Las Vegas, scene of the bust, and into the hinterland of Nevada, where they believe their birth parents live. When their investigation threatens to expose dark secrets, some very influential people want to silence them . . . permanently.
Cate and Victoria are long lost sisters who had no idea they were adopted until they were already adults. The story of how they ended up being “adopted” unfolds as corruption and conspiracy was exposed. I absolutely could not stop reading and wanting more.
The only thing that lessened the rating for me was that it needed an additional edit. There are typos, grammar, and mistakes that threw it off and without those it would have gotten rated higher.
Other than that I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys going on a quick adventure and exposing current real problems that our society faces when it comes to corruption and especially when it involves higher people with money and power.
I made it through, skipped a lot, but it did finish the book. There’s a good idea here, but the writing, for me, was terrible. It’s a little far fetched although I got the impression the author did a lot of research. Just didn’t enjoy the book at all.
What do you do when a woman shows up, claims to be your sister and has DNA testing to prove it? Finding out how this came about is first on the list! And finding the answers is not only dangerous, but opens a real “can of worms”!!!
I enjoyed this book. The storyline was good and I liked the characters. My problem with it was that I wanted more from it. It felt shallow. The story could have gone deeper into the child trafficking and I wish that there would have been a little more depth to the characters
Original story that totally held my interest. Original story and original characters. Very well written and involved. A story of child trafficking found by the the children after they are grown.
This is a great book to read. I could not put it down. I don't usually read thrillers but this had DNA and Nevada locations that I like, so I took a chance.
