Previously published as Desperate Times - 1 - 4 Collected: (An EMP Apocalypse Survival Harem) by Lust, Lara X. (AUTHOR).
Dom’s life has never been easy.
He’s fought for everything he has. Forged in the fires of poverty and neglect, he’s spent years building a life for himself. And it seems like everything is finally coming together. He lives on his own in a decent house at the edge of town, he works for himself writing novels, he’s debt-free, and, most recently, his relationship with his attractive best friend and her friend seems to be heading somewhere…
But everything is about to change.
When a solar flare slams the Earth with a worldwide EMP and knocks out power everywhere, Dom and the two women he cares about most will be forced to walk hundreds of miles through chaos to a safe location. It will take everything for them to survive.
Couldn't get very far into it. The MC is a complete simp. Opening scene, his hot bff who has friend zoned him for years is on hard times. Since she has no money and can't find a job, she decides to stop hoeing and latch on to the reliable, hard working simp. She decides it's time to hook the simp and he readily agrees. Don't know after that because it went into the trash. Stop writing men as if they were garbage if you want my business.
The writing is competent and at times engaging. My disappointment is that two of the three aren't interested in children. I get that some people don't want to have children or to raise them. I already have the next one, so I'll probably read it. But most readers like myself have or have had them, and in the same situation, would want kids; once they are secure, having kids who will survive this apocalypse should be a given. That it's not means it's harder to empathize. Not a fan of using of calling women whores either.
Not a fan of starting sentences with ellipses; that's okay on the internet, but writing is a profession, and there are standards. If the author wants the character to pause a moment, write that out. Above average editing.
Hoping the next book gives me a reason to care about these characters.
Sich sense the pandemic start the use of sturcrazy need for sex has the plot point to build the relationship on got real fast.
The story isn’t per-say but it could’ve been expanded has the chacthers really take the collapse of society to well that felt they false developmental of the author. This lead to me seeing the chacthers has dopy idiots playing the odds better then should’ve been for them, but that’s just my idea on how they survive till the end of book.
The world has been in chaos, and then this happens. The Sun wipes out electronics and things get more crazy. People stop being nice. Men are pigs. This is the story of how one man and a group of women found each other, and lived through the turmoil. I do recommend the book as I really enjoyed the journey. The author includes some good story telling, some interesting spicy parts, and I will look for more titles from this author in the future.
Just finished all three books, have been reading more apocalyptic stories lately but not many that deal with solar flares. While no one in the group died, I could see the solar flares actually happening in the real world. A few editing errors but I enjoyed the storyline.
This is a mix of post-apocalyptic survival and harem fantasy. Lara X. Lust does a good job of fleshing out the different characters and their personalities. And the sex is described well (though I did wonder how Dom can keep going at times). The book could you a bit of editing, particularly at the end.
2 women, one man set out on a journey, the goal initially just to survive an apocalypse. The man, Dom, not a survivalist but with a lot of common sense leads them on a long trek to a place of safety. Well written, thoughtful, very enjoyable. Can't wait to read the next in the series! Highly recommended.
What a horrible run of bad luck for all three people. However the characters in this book are very realistic. The settings are great. And last but not least, the action is very vivid.
Fantastic first book in the series. Great character development, very sexy, great story and surprisingly realistic; hitting very close to home. I can't wait for the next book.
And sadly so many think they have till tomorrow. Dom did and now he has to take care of himself and two gorgeous women. Time to see how good a man he truly is.
