Magic is a rare gift, and Olbric is an adept who's eager to try every school. Abjuration? No problem. Evocation? It's like he was made for it. But when an attempt at divination opens the door to all Olbric has left behind, he must rely on Cancassi and Margeurite to help him back out of the silver.
Divination Practice is a tie-in story for the Sex Wizards series. However, you do not need to read the main series to enjoy this short story!
Alethea Faust is an international bestselling author of kinky, queer, erotic epic fantasy. Things you can expect to find in their works are risk-aware consensual kink, hard BDSM, non-toxic masculinity, kind and emotionally mature adults, and a lot of butt stuff.
They also have a Patreon, where you can find exclusive stories in the Sex Wizards world as well as early access to future books in the series. Read more at https://www.patreon.com/aletheafaust
Even knowing this was years before he came into the Crux, it feels strange to not have Dom with Olbric. Olbric seems more vulnerable here. I suppose it makes sense, he was still new there. I have to admit that overall, this is a very emotional and touching scene. It just feels a bit too short. Not enough to get a proper feel for younger Olbric, Cancassi and Marguerite.
I love these short stories with no plot but where you get to dive back into a world you love and missed while also getting more insight on some characters! I’ve loved Olbric ever since we met him in book 1! I am so very happy to have gotten to know him a bit more with this novella and I can’t wait for more books in this universe!

Another amazing short story in the Sex Wizards series!!
“Give divination a try, they had said. It’ll be fun, they had insisted.”
I loved this extra scene involving Olbric, Cancassi and Marguerite. It’s just as emotional as it is spicy but I love how the dynamic was played out and how Cancassi and Marguerite listened and worked with Olbric.
Olbric had to face quite a few things in this novella and while it was heartbreaking to see him have a such rough go with a difficult class of magic, my heart smiled at his realization in the end. I loved every single words!
I really enjoyed this scene and it helps to get more of view into who Olbric is! I would’ve loved it to have been longer and I really think a deeper explanation into Olbric’s origins would be great. Though, since Olbric’s backstory is currently playing a side role in the main Sex Wizards story, it makes sense that it hasn’t been fully unveiled. Here’s to hoping we get more insight into what makes Olbric tick in the future!
Having olbrics perspective is fantastic. We hear his story in the series but having to work through his feelings and separation from his old life and accepting the new was great. The edge that Cancassi and Marguerite took him to was unexpected and so sensual I was skipping over words trying to read faster. A must read!
I will read literally anything Alethea writes and then writhe around on the floor like a little worm lost in the depths of the earth until she graces me with something new to guide me back to the light. All that to say, this was a great little scene to hold me over until I'm blessed enough to have book 4 in my hands!
The great thing about short stories in an established series is that the worldbuilding has already been done. Throw some characters into a situation and boom, 30 satisfying pages. This is a prequel of sorts, showing Olbric's first try at divination, which was alluded to in the main series. I will snap up any chance I get to spend with these people in this world so an easy four stars from me.
I was already in love with Olbric. And this made me fall harder. I loved getting a look into young Olbric. It’s strange to have him without Dom but it’s brought more into perspective from a short story. This was the perfect little story to read while getting a bigger picture of how Olbric was shortly after coming to the Crux.
This story is fun and sexy as all the others but I also think is a good piece of character work for someone we know but haven’t gotten in the head of before and it was nice to see the way boundaries were discussed and worked with.
I love these short chapters that Alethea Faust delivers in between her books. While short, they're full of spice and (unsurprisingly to her readers) sweetness. They're enough to tide us over until the next book releases.
OMG i just need more and all of it And all of the characters I just end up loving everyone of them for them and i wish i could be in the book for like a week!! Or a month
um okay so I saw this was a prequel and thought I'd read it as it was only 28 pages.. I had no idea what was going on and don't know the characters at all so didn't think it would be fair to give it a star rating just yet
As someone who has adored Olbric from the first book, I was more than happy to read about him in his own story! A great addition to the world, and as well-written as always, Faust.
