Sara Cate is a USA Today best-selling author of steamy romance and sexy book boyfriends. Although she writes a wide range of tropes, Sara is best known for her age gap and taboo romances. One thing you can expect from her entire collection is heaps of steam and plenty of angst.
Living in Arizona with her husband and kids, Sara spends most of her time reading, writing, or baking.
Sara did an amazing job of riding the line between love and sweetness and full on smoking blasphemy.
Unlike the last priest holiday story I read this one was built on a relationship that grew from a savior to friendship to lust to everything.
In such a short number of pages the writer did a phenomenal job showing relationship growth in a natural time period.
Even if it was hot as hell I never found what Roman and Cora did dirty. She was a virgin willing to dedicate her life to God in order to be with Father Roman even if it was purely platonic and professional.
Once they realized they had both fallen in love there was nothing to hold them back. And it was absolutely stunning.
From epic steam to sweet emotions Sara Cate never fails to deliver the perfect story and Sweet Blasphemy was not just the cherry on top but the whole damn pie. I want my own Father Roman!!
I didn't expect there to be so many emotions in this novella. Not the ball your eyes out kind of emotion but the back story she laid in such a short time was impressive. I was invested in their relationship before they had crossed the lines from thoughts to actions.
Cora knew it was always going to be Father Roman and she never pushed or tried to seduce him, and I really loved that. I love a good seduction as much as the next person but for them this was just love pure and simple.
Epically sweet & entirely naughty this was just what I needed!!
I first read this in the Twisted Christmas anthology, but also have a free copy from an author newsletter once it was released on its own. The story is identical from the anthology - a short story about a priest and young woman who fall in love. I’m a sucker for a priest story and would have been happy for this to be longer (and dirtier!)
This is my second try at a book based around a priest and honestly I couldn’t get into it. It’s just not my cup of tea. The writing wasn’t bad, I just didn’t like the characters or the huge age gap. 2 stars because it’s just not my vibe.
I was a priest and she was almost a nun, and people can think being together is blasphemous and wrong, but for us, it was so very right.
At just 15, Cora seeks solace from her abusive father in Father Roman's church. But as she gets older and the bond that forms between them over the years crosses lines that would be deemed inappropriate, Roman and Cora's faith is tested.
Was just in the mood for something short & spicy, but I got some miscommunication and third act conflict. Nevertheless, it was quick and fun so I didn't mind it too much. It was just missing that something that makes a novella really good for me.
This is available for free on Sara Cate's website here if you'd like to read it.
I got this book free from Sara’s website and I had to read immediately. When Cora first comes into Father Romans church she is only 15 and battered and beaten by her Dad . Over the years things have been simmering between them each not wanting to admit their attraction to each other . Cora has decided to a nun and she’s sent to help Father Roman with his congregation but when they meet again after a while apart their chemistry is sizzling. Fabulous short taboo book with the steam you’d expect from Sara loved Roman and Cora and how Roman chose his love to Cora over his devotion to the church.
This is a novella that follows Cora and Roman in their journey from meeting each other on Christmas at Roman's church when Cora was 15, to her being a nun-in-training only to be close to him and then both of them admitting to being in love to finally break vows to love each other freely.
If you think that's a lot for a novella, it is. I would've liked it a little bit longer for the plot to deliver.
I had a bit of a problem with her being only 15 when they met (he was 30 at the time), even if they only started having intimacy until she was 20. I don't know, it was icky.
Now, there was a part of it that had me laughing so hard 😂
Cora was going on about how being a nun was the only way to have a life "with" Roman without being with him because of his vows as a priest.
"This life could be peaceful, and as long as that bitch, Sister Abigail, doesn’t get in my way and ruin this for me, I’ll have everything I need."
Like, girl! She's supposed to be your mentor in your so called God path. You are SO NOT meant to be a nun 😂😂
And then, a couple pages later when Roman finds out that Cora left his church with Sister Abigail (after they did some dirty stuff) he goes:
"I don’t know if she left on her own because she’s scared or because Sister Bitch took her, but I have to know. I have to."
This had me cackling! They really turned into 2 bratty mouthy teenagers after just 1 handjob 😂😂
Anyway, this is a light read that could work if you are having a reading slump. Have fun!

A fun novella. Told in first person from 2 POVs. I got this for free with a book order, so if you have it for free then go for it! I wouldn’t suggest buying it.
Summary: Cora found peace in Father Roman’s church when she was 15 years old. As an adult, she’s decided to become a nun and is now back serving in Father Roman’s church. But there’s a new spark they can’t ignore.
Thoughts: I wanted to love this novella, but I kept getting weirded out at Roman thinking about Cora as a teenager, and all the self hate he has for himself. I enjoy smutty priest books when he’s a little more dark, a little more self-assured. And Cora was just a little too clueless for my taste.
I do love how they finally come together, it made sense to me, and that Cora admits to becoming a nun only to be closer to him, not because she felt the calling.
Sara Cate is one of my favorite authors so I will continue reading her backlist!
This book was short and sweet with a lot of spice. They met when she wsas fifteen, kinda werid but nothing happens until shes over 18. He cares about her like a guardian, unlike her parents who don’t. Her dad is a piece of shit, and her mom I guess doesn’t defend her. He lets her sleep in the church basically as a sanctuary as it should be. She decides to join the convent and become a nun but she doesn't really get very far with that. She confesses her feelings for him and it sparks his feelings for her. Long suppressed feelings. This was definitley not the spiciest book I’ve read but the spicy parts were good. Shes obviously new to all of this, he lived a life before he joined the church as a priest and hes 15 years older than her so hes got some experience under his belt, haha. The ending was perfect, I really did enjoy their little love story.

Ohhhh boy!!! This was short and sweet and sexy!! I am a sucker for a taboo romance and forbidden love, and this little gem checked all the boxes!! The whole time reading this I was “ooo-ing” and smiling! It was steamy and sweet, but also filthy and tempting. Just right!! Also, the age gap!! 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻 I loved how it was more about all the collected and pent up emotions, rather than lust. I am not a believer, but there was one beautiful thing said in this book, that i will always remember. God is all around us. (For those who believe) 5/5⭐️ from me! I LOVED IT
For a taboo quick novella it hit all the right points: steam, high emotion, quick HEA. Could I have enjoyed it more if it was a longer book? Sure. With so few pages Sara had to add a whole lotta plot which resulted in time jumps and missing plot points. The priest aspect seemed more like it was being used to add more taboo to an age gap romance. I’m sure if it was a full length book Sara would have made this the steamiest taboo tale for the ages. I liked the characters, I enjoyed the book, overall it was a solid read.
it’s way too fast and i feel like them as people they wouldn’t go about everything that fast with more agony and guilt because of what they have always believed and to just throw away everything that easily and not change or adapt their relationship in a way that suits their religion and they’ll be able to be happy and not guilty or betray their beliefs would’ve been much better especially if it was longer. but it was entertaining ig.
I love short stories. I love short stories that pack a punch. This one? It could’ve been a delicious taboo tale, but something was missing for me. A few things that played out between Father Roman and Cora didn’t work. Everything happened tooooo fast, making it hard for me to suspend disbelief. So. Many. Questions. My rating falls between 2.25-2.50 stars.
4⭐️ A priest and soon to be nun spicy book. Cora want to be a nun to be closer to Father Roman who has been in her life for years, but there’s something between them and will they act on it or not. Well they do and it’s a spicy romance and it’s very good. It makes me want to finish the priest series.
Great taboo novella! Very well rounded for a novella, I felt the relationship development between Father Roman and Cora. The sexual tension was top notch and the sex right up my alley! Now, if they could have been married with a baby in the epilogue, that would have been perfect. There is a hint of breeding with the unprotected sex, but nothing comes of it unfortunately...
Despite being short, it was still kinda cute and had a good storyline... yes, it was all spice, but there were emotional parts and more to their characters than just physical attraction.
I also liked that she didn't push herself onto him, like she understood that he had a role to play and all that... didn't seduce him or whatnot. It was lowkey refreshing
4.5☆ So I totally loved Roman and Cora's taboo/forbidden romance. Their chemistry and tension was perfection and then throw in the taboo element, and I was a very happy reader. I just loved their building relationship and how spicy and sweet it is. Seeing Father Roman with Cora and how swoony he is was so much fun. The fact that this is just a novella and I feel like it gave me everything!
I loved this book! It had the perfect amount of story and spicyness. It was a super quick read too so it made it even more enjoyable. I definitely wish we could see more of their story and actually know what happened in between the year jump but I understand it’s a novella so it had to stay short. I still loved it though!!
Wonderfully deep short story! The author does a phenomenal job of giving you an in depth story with all the elements. It doesn’t feel rushed or forced just a beautiful story of a growing love story! Love me a priest story and the only thing that would make this one better would be make it longer and give us more.
***I received an ARC of Sweet Blasphemy by Sara Cate in exchange for an honest review***
This was an incredibly spicy and festive short story! I've never been one for the father/nun romance but this one blew it out of the park. Cate's writing it amazing as always and this story was great.
This one was good! It was a sweet read. I did hope for some forbidden stuff but it was more vanilla I think. There was a bit of building up but it kinda fizzled out. It turned into an emotional read. The spice rating would be 2 I think, not too spicy. It focuses more on the angst and the guilt.
I adore Sara Cate. She’s one of my favorite authors. But this doesn’t even come close to the Priest Series by Sierra Simone, the gold standard for naughty priests, nuns and monks. But, the novella did what I needed to- a quick read to help me meet my yearly reading goals
Sinceramente very spicy, pero tenía curiosidad de cómo sería un tipo así (priest x nun) y sinceramente creo que está bien (?) aunque centra demasiado en los sentimientos hots JAJAJAJ pero I like it✋🏻👌🏻
