Jamie Hernandez loves his life. He has his family, his friends, and a successful freelance career at just twenty-three. The only thing missing? His monster. The one Jamie has seen in his dreams for the past five years. Jamie doesn’t know much about the enigmatic man from his visions, but he doesn’t need to. He knows enough. He knows they belong together.

Lucien Volaire has been losing his mind for almost half a century, the monster within him steadily taking greater control over his thoughts and actions. He’s destroyed everything he’s touched, including the people he’s cared for. The one thing that could stop his final descent into madness? A mate. So when Luc meets a young man in the desert, one who smells like heaven and doesn’t run in fear, Luc knows he’s met his last chance at redemption.

But the more Lucien is enchanted by Jamie, the more reluctant he is to taint him with his own vampire curse. Can Lucien find a balance between love and obsession? Or will those that want Luc out of their territory step in before he has a chance?

Lucien is a heated, fated-mates MM paranormal romance with an HEA and no cliffhanger. It contains a morally grey, obsessive vampire with anger management issues and the bright, playful human who might just match him in possessive romantic tendencies. It also contains steamy scenes between two men, and the moderate violence (and mentions of blood) that one might expect from a vampire romance. This book can be read as a standalone, but the series is best enjoyed in order (it is especially recommended to read book one first).

I thought this book would be more of Lucien’s redemption arc and in a way it was but it’s also about him finding his person, his mate and getting to live in peace without the fear of descending into madness. His character and Roman’s are pretty much the same, which makes sense since they were practically brothers for decades. Then there’s Jamie. When his character was first introduced he was not what I was expecting at all!! But he really grew on me throughout the book. He has these dreams that show him things that are about to happen and everyone in his small town knows that he’s a little off, a little odd. And he tends to play into those assumptions about him but underneath he has a really loving family and his heart is full. He’s just so alive and not afraid of what the world has to offer, the ugly and the beautiful. On the outside he seems like a character that would be packed full of angst but he’s not and I think he’s better that way.

There’s also a set of twin vampires that get introduced and I loved them. I know they have a book and I’m looking forward to reading it. Danny, Roman and Jay make an appearance too and it was nice getting to see them all together, even though Roman and Lucien still have their differences… This book lives up to the last two and this series still has me in its grasp, there is no way I’m stopping now. Not when the next book is about Jay.

This series just keeps getting better.

Lucien is one petty, possessive asshole, but he's Jamie's asshole. And Jamie, who has the gift of Sight, has been waiting for Lucien.

Jamie knows who Lucien is. He's seen Luc's dark, vengeful side and still wants him.

Highlights:

- Jamie's insightful, supportive mom

- a showdown in the desert involving a feral vamp

- redheaded vampire twins (pleeeeeeze let there be twincest to come)

- Roman and Luc glaring at each other while avoiding eye contact (I'm firmly on Roman's side here. Luc tormented Roman for years and isn't even sorry.)

- lots of sniffing, licking, biting, and fucking

- cute Jay who really doesn't know how to drive

- Danny trying to smoothe things over

- HEA (because FOREVER)

Not a standalone.

*** I reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.***

Lucien is the story I have been the most curious about and it is everything I hoped for and more. Luc is a haunted vampire who is complicated and brooding. I loved getting to see inside his head and hear his monster, who is the most vocal in the series so far. This story also has one of the best introductions to a mate in Jamie. Jamie does not hold back and his intensity has Luc running for the hills in shock.

Luc and Jamie are the perfect pair. Jamie is the light to Luc's darkness. Jamie is full of warmth, joy and love, so having his energy directly targeting Luc creates such an interesting dynamic that even Luc has a hard time processing all the attention.

Luc has many insecurities he is still processing and getting to see his humanity finally surface was so much fun to see and Jamie's determination and fearlessness made him the best possible match.

My favorite aspect of this story is seeing Luc so mesmerized and in awe of Jamie's strength and hidden talents. Jamie is a force to reckon with to the point that he can have total control of both Luc and his monster. Their dynamic is very intense and I loved seeing how smitten Luc and his monster are with their mate.

Overall Lucien is another fabulous installment in this series. I love how every entry is so drastically different in tone, making every relationship so perfectly unique. Luc stole my heart while Jamie owns it. They are such a fantastic pair and I cannot wait to see more from this world.

“Books are essential to my overall well-being. You should know that if we’re going to be eternally bound.”

Another excellent installment in this series. This is the “ bad guy” from book one.

✔️Fated mates
✔️Forced proximity
✔️MM/Gay love story
✔️Emotionally repressed ancient vampire
✔️PNR abilities, huge hearted secondary hero
✔️Only has eyes for you trope
✔️Snark on point
✔️HEA, no cliffhanger

Tall, built, intense. Smelling like absolute sin. With that lovely little smattering of salt and pepper at the temples of his abundant dark hair. Hello, Monster Daddy.

*Could be read as a standalone. There are characters from the previous stories at the end.

After decades of stalking his old friend Roman with murderous intent, Lucien is feeling fairly unhinged and fairly hopeless in the search for his one potential tether to sanity—his true mate.

But fate has other plans and puts Lucien on a random path through Arizona, where he comes across human Jamie Hernandez in an alley late one night.

Instantly, Lucien knows he’s found his destined mate, but what he wasn’t expecting was for his very human mate to not only know about vampires, but know about Lucien in a very specific way.

Bold, free-spirited Jamie has been waiting for YEARS for his monster to finally appear and claim him as his own. You see, Jamie isn’t like regular humans—he can see things in his mind, images and events that have yet to take place—and he’s known for quite some time about Lucien and their bond, eager and excited for the day when they’ll finally meet.

Lucien always thought he’d be fast to act to claim his mate, should he ever be so blessed to find his, and Jamie, knowing about his nature already and being more than willing to be claimed by a vampire, should have made the whole thing a hell of a lot less problematic.

But Lucien needs to take his time and do this right, which means making amends, or trying to, with the people from his past that he’s so egregiously done wrong. And when bodies start piling up in town, and the twin vampires who claim the territory suspect slightly feral Lucien as the culprit, Lucien has to put his pride aside and ask old friends (frenemies?!) for desperate help.

Anyone who has read the first book (or two) in the series, would surely have been excited to finally get Lucien’s story. Painted initially as the villain, and seriously doing some f*cked up shit to previous MCs in the process, I found Lucien extremely intriguing and was eager to finally get his side of things and see him find redemption and new love.

I liked his pairing with Jamie. Jamie was fairly unexpected, both to Lucien and to me as a reader, but I liked his unique nature as a seer, and I must admit that I kind of liked how morally grey he was, accepting Lucien for all his very questionable past behaviour and still being eager to mate him and become a vampire himself.

I enjoyed this installment and whipped through it with the same ease and eagerness as I did books one and two, but I will admit that in the end, I found Lucien and Jamie slightly lacking when compared to the romance and dynamic I felt between the previous two couples.

Overall, though, I enjoyed myself a good deal and I’m loving how this cast of quirky, lovable vampires and their mates keeps growing and growing with each book, making it all too necessary to return for each subsequent sequel.

Lucien has to be my favourite of the series so far. It exceeded my expectations. I was already looking forward to Lucien's story, but I wasn't sure which direction the author would take his character. Lean into his villainous aspect or give him a redemption arc. [Insert 'why not both?' gif here]

Seeing a totally different side to Lucien when he meets Jamie was fascinating. That first meet-cute when he completely froze was adorable. Something I never thought I'd describe Lucien as. All his previous baggage with wanting a mate so bad, and now after all that him finding it in Jamie. And now suddenly caring about a human's humanity and feeling conflicted about turning him. Lucien's and Jamie's romance had me obsessed.

Jamie's character was also interesting in that he can see glimpses into the future. I'm pretty sure this is the first mention of something supernatural other than vampires, so I'm curious to see if there'll be anything else introduced in the future books.

Since meeting Lucian in Roman, I have been excited for his story! And I was not disappointed. Lucian was a delight!

Lucian is a vampire, slowly losing himself to madness but still holding on to the hope that he will meet his fated mate one day. Jamie is a clairvoyant who has seen Luc in his visions and dreams since he was a teenager. Their first encounter throws Lucian off balance as Jamie greets him with familiarity and acceptance.

I knew whoever was going to deal with him was going to be strong and ready to show this vampire that he is loved and deserves happiness. That madness and isolation is not the only thing out there for him.

Jamie didn’t let Lucian run or hide. He was there to pull his monster from the depths of darkness. Lucian has a lot of insecurities and abandonment issues, and Jamie works to dispel each one. Showing him, he is worthy as he is. He didn’t need to change or apologize for his actions - Jamie accepted him as him. I loved that.

I love how sexually unapologetic Jamie was with Lucian. Their chemistry was amazing, and I loved how possessive and loving they were to each other.

Overall this was a great read, and I am super excited for Jay’s story!

Let me tell you all a story. I have been wanting to read this book so bad. Once I finished Roman and Soren, I started stalking this author. I subscribed to her newsletter, I followed her on her social medias, and I joined her facebook group. I was a woman obsessed. Then this lovely angel posted a teaser of chapter one for Lucien on her facebook group, and it was so good. I was like I need it!!!!!! I commented on the post and was like “release this book right now or just release it to me I don’t care”, and she was like “haha I wish”. So I was like okay I need to try harder. I then preceded to email this woman and I was like “I am begging you please send me an advanced copy.” She was like “I wish I could!! I send my ARCs through Gay Romance Reviews, so if you are on their team you can get an ARC that way.” I had applied to GRR a few days before she sent that email, and as soon as I received her email, I also had an email from GRR saying I was accepted onto their team. Praise Jesus hallelujah. So I was waiting patiently for this ARC to be sent out so I could read it. The day the email went out, I had a test in one of my classes. It was super hard and a lot of people didn’t do well. I got a 77% so we are rocking with that. That’s actually really good for me. Anyway. My friend was sitting next to me outside after the exam and she was talking about how she was sad about her grade, and I was totally ignoring her because I got a GRR email saying the ARC for Lucien was available. I was scrambling to log into my account and request a copy. This book made me a bad friend that day but I do not regret. No regerts. I did not put this book down until I finished.

So now for the review.

AHAHASHSHSHHAJDODOSLSLLSDKKD (that is me screaming). I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been excited for Lucien for a long time. I know he was the bad guy in book 1, but I do not care!!!! Mama I’m in love with a criminal. Mama I’m in love with a creep. Mama I’m in love with an almost feral vampire. Don’t care!!!! I loved this man. I also absolutely adored Jamie. I don’t remember laughing out loud this much while reading a book. Jamie definitely gave Lucien a run for his money, and I am here for it. Also the fact that Jamie is clairvoyant, and he saw Lucien in his visions for years before they met???? How freaking cool is that. That is the best idea I have ever heard. And as always, we must mention the sex. IT WAS GOOD!!! Fabulous. Yummy. Perfect. I knew this author could write some good sex scenes, so I was so happy I got to read some more.

We meet a few new vamps in this book, so I wonder if we will see some books about them in the future. We also got to see Jay again, and man do I love that little guy. His book is next, and I extremely excited for that one. It’ll be so cute. Anywayyyyy, please read this. This is probably my fav book in the series so far. xoxoxoxoxoxo

Book safety, content warnings, and tropes down below.

What was the point of being the villain if he didn’t get what he wanted in the end?

I think the thing I love the most about this book is how Luc, the badass half-feral vampire, strolls into town and expects to be the top dog. He assumes everyone will fear and dislike him. Then there’s bubbly Jamie who literally couldn’t care less. He doesn’t take anyone’s shit and isn’t scared of his vampire at all. It goes something like this ⬇️

Luc: *being all growly and dramatic and shit* ‘fear me, mortals!’ (probably)
Jamie: ‘aww, is my little monster angry? So cute’

Tall, built, intense. Smelling like absolute sin. With that lovely little smattering of salt and pepper at the temples of his abundant dark hair. Hello, Monster Daddy.

Jamie is as far from a doormat a human can be as a character in a vampire romance probably, and I love it. He knows what he wants and goes after it, and he doesn’t let anyone treat him badly.

Jamie was definitely human. Just with… added bonus abilities. Ones that sometimes creeped people out, or lost him friends or the occasional job or father or whatever.

Lucien isn’t ‘good’, and that’s okay. He has some morals, sure, but barely, lol. He has some guilt to deal with as well as some pretty intense abandonment issues. Oh, and let’s not forget the anger issues. I love this book just like I love the rest of the series. It’s not my favorite out all of them, but still really good. I recommend reading book 1 (Roman) first to get Luc’s backstory.

Footsteps approached the bed. “You’re very angry with me, aren’t you, ma fleur?” Oh, Luc was breaking out the French. Dumb vampire must know he fucked up.

“You’ll find I’m beyond ordinary possession, my flower. Don’t think to toy with me. I’ll crush any obstacles you put in my way, human or otherwise.” His warning didn’t have the effect he’d hoped, Jamie’s dark eyes glazing over with lust at his words. Ah well, he’d tried.

“Over time, we lose ourselves more and more to the vampire instincts inside us. To our monsters. We become more beast than man, driven by bloodlust and little else.” How incredibly metal of them.

Throwing in a little Jay quote, because Johann is the best character ♥️

“That’s what I said,” Jay chimed in, reaching a hand out to a small barrel cactus he’d found in the corner of Jamie’s yard. “Jay, honey,” Danny called out. “Don’t touch the cactus.” “Don’t worry, I know it’s sharp.” The little vampire reached out a finger anyway, touching one of the spines of the desert plant. “Ouch,” he said happily, holding up his finger to display the small drop of blood welling there. “See? Sharp.” “That’s great, sweetie.”

“You’re mine, Lucien Volaire. All mine. I claim you.”

giphy4

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Lucien definitely lucked out in finding his soulmate. If I am to be full-on critical, it's kind of an easy-picking trick of a short-cut to have Jamie, who definitely wasn’t delicate. But he was…compelling, already aware of his presence - wanting and waiting for him, an easy acceptance from one who requires no full-on explanation. Definitely saves him the hassle! But, it's hard to be entirely upset by it, seeing how good a guy Jamie actually is, and how can tame the beast, or in this case, Lucien's monster, in some rather creative ways, I dare say. 😳

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Lucien's doubts and distrust is rather short-lived, but it is hard to refuse someone as funny and playful as Jamie. I liked the green eyes vs green hair parallel between the two; it made their connection all the more impactful in how Lucien dropped his cool and demure side with him,to bring out the soft and sultry French in him. And they were cute; I just wish the author could find some better nicknames - monster and flower quickly wore out after the first few times. 😅 Now, if Lucien had been more creative and called him a variety of flower names, then, well, one would be impressed. 😉

'You belong to me too, every part of you.”
“Even the darkest parts.”
“Especially those,” Jamie said firmly.”

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Twenty-three-year old Jamie was very likeable; not at all shy or fearful, exactly what Lucien and co. need and crave. He's the light to his dark and dreary self, frank and honest and loyal to a fault to Luc. ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹 They bonded so easily and quickly that it was sweet to see how reluctant Luc was to turn him, when Jamie was ready to lay down his life for him. But it brought out the patient and gentle side of him, that was hopeful that Jamie would be the one to sooth the monster in him. 'Beautiful mate. Precious and perfect and just for us.' 😌 He was fiercely possessive and protective of Jamie, his cherished mate - how the idea of being vampires was an insatiable hunger for them both. The steam-age was passable, very quick, very spry, very on the fly. But amidst their passionate overtures, they did share some sincere and intimate heart-to-hearts that broke Luc's resolve from holding off for as long as he did. 💘

“Yeah, you’re a monster,” he agreed easily. “But you’re my monster.”

Luc sucked in a breath, feeling momentarily…unmoored. Who was this strange human, to say such things to him?”

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ It's very much a comfort reading, as in it's very comfortable to read. Even when I read phrases like 'Luc thought the vampire doth protest too much', I do find it adds a certain levity to it. 😊 It was nice to see Dan and Roman again; Jamie trying to serve as a buffer, which ultimately backfired, but still made the two of them frenemies - for now. Closure is what I live for, and well, it's baby steps and just knowing that they've tried to clear the waters and make amends and let bygones be bygones. Emphasis on tried. 🙈

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Fox and Dane were an interesting introduction; despite the Hitachiin twin vibes they were radiating. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the schematics of how exactly they'll share a bond with someone without becoming a problem, so that's something to look forward to. 🙃 Fun fact: Johann's story is the first book I read in the series, which, shockingly, was the one with an actual conflict/plot that develops, so I can understand why I rated it well. And kept me curious enough to finally complete this series. Whereas, once again this merely served as a precursor of foul play existing and a turning that well, could have been more exciting, but we take what we can.

As for the naughty bonus epilogue...

“And I you. There is no pain on Earth as exquisite as the grip you have on my heart, flower.”

pudgy-penguin-you-make-me-laugh-animation-6audyydu1pxkssag

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ And here I thought I had heard it all!! 😆 Find me someone who can say this to my face, with a straight face. 🥰 Okay, fine, yes, they're happy and in love, who am I to get in their way of true bliss? And other things.... 😏

“I thank fate every day for the gift of you.”

Quite the charmer, he is. 💕

4.5 stars for a perfect pair of vampires and a good amount of debauchery. My goodness! Is it hot in here? 🔥🔥🔥 If I read anymore, I'll be halfway in love with Jaime and that will inspire Lucien to murder me. I still want to live. 😂

I expected this book to be a bit messy thinking it would need a bit of work to redeem Lucien's character but wow... even with a cargo-worth of baggage, this turned out to be very entertaining. It could've used a bit more action with the opportunities clairvoyance can bring. It's excusable though, given that the 2 previous books were similarly laidback anyway. Some of the scenes here were well-placed and delivered excellently, giving you a sort of thrill that's hard to explain. This part right there kept me on a leash and I devoured the book.

“I’ve been waiting for you, you know. What took you so long?” And then the stranger leaned in and slammed his mouth against him.

Poor Luc. He didn't stand a chance on Jaime, the Monster Tamer. 😂 With that dominance, he's the perfect mate to turn into a vampire. Seductive, positively sinful, and more than willing to engage in devious pleasure. Whew! I thought Soren already has the hottest scenes in the series but Jaime and Luc's encounters? Chef's kiss. Mildly kinky and definitely carnal. Props to Grae Bryan though. In others, it would've sounded cheap but these two characters, the setting, and how it was laid out made everything sensual and tense. 👌

“I don’t need help,” Jamie said firmly, twisting in Luc’s grip until they were eye to eye. “He can do what he wants. I’ve been ready for the last five years.” The words he spoke were directed at the others, but Luc knew they were meant for him. “See you all on the other side.”

What a perfect match for Lucien. Jaime is so cool, collected, and I love him! ❤ Have I said it enough? Okay, I'll stop. 😁

I really liked Jamie, and I'm intrigued by the redhead twins and Jay, BUT I still can't stop hearing the 'demon' voices as Gollum!! It's definitely the language used, and this one even said 'precious'! It makes me laugh more than anything and I'm not sure if that's the intended reaction?!

Goooosh, this book is so freaking cute!!!! I haven’t read the previous two in the series so I didn’t know what to expect but I was very pleasantly surprised. Very good writing, fabulous and entertaining dialogues and Lucien, his monster and Jamie were such a cute”throuple” !!!! I had a lot of fun . Usually when I read mushy sugary nicknames in books (like honeybun or cutie pie or sugarbun ) I gag, yet, every time Lucien called Jamie “my flower” or his monster was chanting “our pretty flower/human” I dissolved into a puddle of goo . Can’t explain it 🤣🤣 I just adored Jamie and Lucien.

Another superb vampire romance

Well that was utterly delicious. Not just a super alpha possessive vampire, but a mate who's just as keen on staking a claim.

I loved Jamie, he's got a lighter sweetness in the same way as Danny and Jay, but it's coupled with his own insatiable need for Luc to know he belongs to Jamie just as much.

There's the same fantastic mix of sarcastic humour and an almost fatalistic sense of the absurd as both human and vampire exert their possessive natures in the most mundane of ways.

Things get complicated when twin vamps turn up, and I do hope they're on the planning list for books after Jay gets his happy ending.

There's also a not so emotional, more very snappy and downright rude, reunion between Luc and Roman which had me laughing out loud.

Plots and a feral vampire on the loose add to the complications but Grae handles everything perfectly, it never feels rushed or overly dramatic.

I've absolutely adored this series and look forward to more.

ETA: Listening to the audio and I adore Jamie and Lucien. Michael is doing a great job with this series. I especially love Lucien's accent in this one.

(And my heart is happy knowing that bb Jay's book is up next!)

Grae Bryan really can do no wrong for me, this series has just been the answer to all of my vampire romance needs and wants, and I will always be recommending this series to people!

I've been waiting for Lucien's story - I love a good villain story, and this was just perfect for him. He's not the good guy necessarily, but he deserves his own HEA. Lucien, more than any other vampire, has been desperately searching for his fated mate to save him from reaching that point of no return and loss of humanity.

Enter Jamie - bold, sweet, confident, and so totally perfectly for Lucien in every way. Jamie has known that Lucien would come into his life at some point, and he's been ready and waiting. I love the total unconditional love and acceptance that Jamie has for Lucien, having "known" him through the visions he receives. He is the perfect match for Lucien's monster and I just love them together.

Of course, we get a nice visit from Danny and Roman (Danny, my sweet boy!) And I love these bad ass vampires - that are totally wrapped around their mates' fingers.

And JAY. The most precious of all cinnamon rolls. I can't wait to see who is mate is.

I love that as this world continues to grow, we learn more about the vampires and their world through the new characters and new interactions. And now I have more people I'm interested in stories for. And I can't wait for more, more, more!

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Completely different from what I expected it to be

So here it is, the book about the big bad dark vampire who used to hunt Roman. Luc//Lucien is too far gone to be able to look like a human, his eyes black and his fangs out all the time. And he can’t believe his luck when he stumbles upon a man who smells like home, like a mate. Luckily for him, this potential mate is Jamie, who possesses a few not-quite-ordinary traits himself: he occasionally has visions of the future, and he has “seen” Luc for years now, so he’s not really surprised that Luc isn’t human.

I’d have expected for Luc to go all caveman with Jamie, but funnily, the dynamics are the opposite: it’s Jamie who pursues Luc, and Luc who keeps running and hiding because he’s afraid to claim something so precious for himself.

We get to meet Roman, Danny and Jay again, and again: while this series won’t be my favourite of all time (I guess I’m spoiled by other vampire series…), it’s a fun read, nothing taxing, perfect if your mind needs an easy distraction.

I loved both Luc and Jamie (and even the twins - maybe we’ll get their story at some point, too?), so I’ll gladly rate it with 4 stars.

This is my favourite book in the series! 💜

Lucien ahhhh let me use emojis to explain my feelings toward Luc: 🤤😍🥺💔💜🤤💜🤤💜🤤🥵🤌😈💜

If you're in the mood for a villain's book with mates then this is the one. I loved how Lucien didn't turn out to be the good guy. Nope. He was truly the bad guy (of course, except when it came down to Jamie).

And that's exactly why I loved this book! He was good ONLY toward Jamie and the possessiveness was mouthwatering. Oh, did I mention you will absolutely adore Jamie! He was sassy, wild, true to himself and knew what he wanted - Luc and nothing could stop him. I adored how Jamie accepted every part of Luc.

These two were just perfect for each other!!!

This series is everything. Each book just keeps getting better and better which is quite something since the first book was great.

We finally got Lucien's story. And what a story it was. I loved Jamie for him. His acceptance was exactly what Lucien needed to get his redemption.

I can't wait for the next book!

“Maybe fate wasn’t always a merciless bitch after all”.

These two were cute. I loved Jamie.

Idk I don't have much to say.

I listened to these on audio and since Johann's book isn't out yet in that format I'm going to take a break. But looking forward to coming back for Johann and for the twins 👀

This was so fun.

Lucien the unapologetically *almost feral* vamp quietly stumbles on his mate, Jamie, the clairvoyant human.

Jamie has been waiting for Lucien for years after seeing him in a vision.

Jamie has also seen what Lucien really is, how really behaves and is frankly ok with it.

These two complemented each other perfectly. They were hot and sexy and sweet and a bit deranged 🤣
I especially liked how Jamie talks to Lucien's monster and tames it.

I realy liked the cameos and can't wait for Jay's book.

I was looking forward to Lucien’s book, considering he was the big evil baddie in book 1, and I couldn’t wait to find out how he would redeem himself.

Saying that, I certainly wasn’t anticipating Lucien being totally overwhelmed and outplayed by his human mate.
Jamie, who has the sight, has been seeing Lucien in his dreams for years, so he’s delighted when his vampire finally turns up! No surprises on his part!

It was equally endearing (yes! I would have never thought to associate this word with Lucien!) and humorous watching Jamie wrap his vampire round his sunny, smiley finger and Lucien desperately trying to hold back because he doesn’t want to ‘condemn’ the one person he loves to a life with a half crazy ‘monster’ (him).

After all the time Lucien’s been looking for a mate, this virtually heroic effort shows, imo, who he really is deep down. Not such a bad guy after all! And boy, does all this create fabulous sizzle in the bedroom. Really like how the author ties that in with the problem of Lucien going feral.

I loved that his issue with Roman (from book 1) is dealt within depth, that Lucien does a lot of self-analysis and, while not changing 180 degrees (he’s still an arrogant, happy to kill sod), he does become a better man vampire.

Also totally enjoyed the MCs of the previous books making their appearances and seeing new friendships forming. And yes, Danny is simply the best!

Great fun series!

The good
+ Jaime's reaction when meeting Lucien for the first time
+ Jaime's (relative) patience when seducing the skittish Luc
+ The way Jaime treated Luc's monster
+ Luc meeting Jaime's family
+ Jaime's mom
+ Complete honesty and vulnerability from both sides
+ Danny
+ Roman and Luc deciding to be frenemies
+
+
+ Mutual obsession
+ Learning more about how the vampire world works through every book

The neutral
o I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. My review remains honest and unbiased
o Luc used "ma fleur" as a pet name for Jamie. But that's a feminine word, so it felt kind of weird to me

The bad
- After reading Roman, I thought to myself, "Gabe is such a dick, I don't think I'll like his book." I was wrong. Then, after reading Soren, I thought, "Okay fine, Gabe is cool, but Lucien is still an asshole and there's no way I'm going to like him." And I was so wrong yet again. Now I really like Jay, so please don't let me be wrong!

Quotes
x What was the point of being the villain if he didn't get what he wanted in the end?
x "Are you turned on right now? Was it all that talk about mutual destruction that got you so hot and bothered?" "Yes. Yes, very much so."

I had expected this book . Instead, . It was beautiful, and I loved it so much. Definitely my favorite of the series so far. Would recommend! But I'd suggest reading the other books in the series first for maximum enjoyment.
