How far would you go to save someone you love? What would it take for you to break out of character? Or better yet...how much?
Shaina Richardson was raised to find the positive in every situation. It was a mentality that sustained her through trying times and despite teetering on the brink of breaking, her ability to discover the silver lining kept her smile intact.
However, when her mother falls victim to a life-threatening illness, Shaina struggles under the weight of financial obligations and finds herself ready to cave to her reality. Just before everything collapses around her, she is presented with an opportunity that will save her mother and change their lives for the better. Only one thing stands in her way-her moral code.
As her mother's health gradually declines, will Shaina hold true to her values regardless of who gets hurt? Or will she sell her soul to save the one person who remains in her corner?
The Contract is a tantalizing tale of love, lust, and loyalty.
This was a very long read. But it was incredibly good. This took me through a wide range of emotions and back again. I enjoyed the authors writing style, it was like watching a movie or a tv series play out in my head. I’ve read other books written this way and it an absolute fav for me. It’s 3rd person with alternating multiple povs. One of the things I liked best was that Cam and Shane where cute without ever being corny. I also like how Cam felt like the ideal boyfriend. Not just book boyfriend, outside of his profession I think he’s what most of us are looking for and I thought that was incredibly sweet. This a wickedly slow burn but it loaded with tension and suspense.
it was good overall, definitely had different expectations of the type of agency au pair was (thnx to urban fiction) but good! averi.. trifling af. would love to see a spinoff of priya & roman!
I saw a review on TikTok for this book and was intrigued. I instantly went to Amazon to purchase it.
This story while it is a long read it takes you through a lot. Shania is working hard to pay for her mom hospital bills and healthcare in general. While at her job at save a lot Shania meets Priya who introduces her to Au Pair where she would work as an Angel which is basically a personal assistant to whomever wants to hire her. She hits the jackpot when she is hired as a gift from a friend of Cameron Jones. Shane is propositioned by Averi, Cam’s wife, to help her out so she can get her pre nup voided before her divorce happens and she will get money from Cam.
Tanon you took me through it this weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your books and this one right here put me through the everything. I absolutely love Cam. Straight book Bae material. Keep up the great work you got a Fan in me.
I liked this story most of the story. At the start, it was slow and pulled my attention a bit. I am never a fan of infidelity, so that part of the story was not my favorite. Shane got caught in the middle of a sinister scheme with Cameron's wife, Averi. Sadly, Averi thought she was smarter than the average woman and had her sights set higher than her plans. I was happy with this ending to the story. 3.5 stars.
This was such an amazing book. I absolutely loved Shaina’s character. How she treated and took care of her mother was so sweet. It really hurt my heart when she passed away. Shaina’s boyfriend was no good and im glad that she decided to leave him. Shaina deserved that job as a maid at Cam’s house! She was really struggling to make ends meet.
Cam is the highlight of any womans life. Hes sweet, loving and loyal. But his wife Averi was only with him for his money. She didnt really love him and when Shaina caught her cheating, Averi tried to pay her for her silence. Why do women have such great men and still cheat on them? Averi made Shaina sign a contract to help set Cam up so he could cheat and then it would void their prenup. Shaina only did it because Averi black mailed her and was going to ruin her career and not help with paying for her moms surgery. Everything came back to bite Averi in the ass later tho 😭
Im so glad that Shaina told Cam about the contract and they worked together to not let Averi walk away with half of his earnings after divorce. Averi was cheating with her husbands friend who was also a basketball player. Averi told him that once she got Cam’s money they could begin their great life. Shit hit the fan and Averi got a couple hundred thousand and she was pissed. Her little boo thang ended up leaving her because the plan didnt fall through and she ended up pregnant by him.
When i tell you this book is so messy and has so many different twists and turns. Kept my attention from start to finish. Im so happy that Cam and Shaina got their happy ending!

Yo let me write my thoughts down rq. I've settled on a 2.25 stars, that seems low and your first thought looking at this is that it's bad but it's quite the contrary, the plot was entertaining and this book was pure enjoyment. I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I picked up this book at random in fact I did not read the sypnosis, the blurb definetely intriguied me and I went off by that. The pace of this book was way too fast for my liking. I typically like the fact that the books I read is within reality, in arms length i'd say but at the beginning, I was just frowning by the events that took place so I had to adjust my expectations and go along for the ride and also not judge it extremely cause I know what i'm getting into. Now, the FMC name is Shane and the MMC is Cameron. Oh, I always had to adjust to the author's writing style because I wasn't used to it but it was easy to read and get comfortable with it. She wrote in the third person and narrated their thoughts, and alternated between the two.
Starting off with the boyfriend, Darnell. A narrative was heavily pushed on him to validate and justify certains issues and behaviours in Shane but I wasn't convince by it because it felt very superficial as well as shallow and there wasn't enough time for it to hit to me as the reader to dwell in it. Shane dimisses it quickly except later, and even then it would last a few pages and was helpful at making the connection between the MC grow deeper. I was pissed but I liked that it wasn't on my mind and even Darnell is secondary so yeah he was irrevelant for the most part, he did what he was meant to do.
Moving to the best friend named Pri. I'd be honest, the development of their relationship felt the realest in this book. Her personnality was wonderfully crafted and i didn't mind her as the BFF comedic relief cause that girl is crazy but funny and so authentic. She introduced her to a better job to help with her mother. She was there with amazing advices and their complicity was on point.
Fast forwarding to when the two MC met and she started working there and their banter... I was thrown off guard. I'm thinking you're being too friendly and I kept thinking back to the wife, Averi, wondering when she going to catch them, atp I had a very low opinion about Shane but yeah, opinions changes. The thing I liked about this story is that I kept coming up with theories. I had no certainty about where the story was going to lead to. Then, the plot twist... yeah I did not expect that but yet again, I just had to follow the plot to see where it would land me. Averi. Impressions can be very misleading. When I reached that peak, I was confused, I was like huh? I feel like as the reader, I should've gotten a hint at least but however, I liked knowing it with one of the MC. One thing though, my man Cameron he's an NBA PLAYER and i've heard rumours them but boy, is he faithful. Oh my days, the consideration he gives his wife, Averi, is crazy and I want that, bad.
But man, is Cameron respectful and so vigilant about waiting until ifykyk happened and Shane understanding it. Their relationship was cute or whatever, espiecally for them to be there for each other when they needed it the most but how deep does it go? I would not take their relationship as a reference cause there was some wrongs in the building of their foundation that I, personnally, do not agree with it despite what his wife did. I wish the author was more detailed and thorough on certain scenes so there's room for improvement in her writing and keep a good pace. It can be the most out of pocket thing but if you word in a way that's believable, true and feel real to the reader then you're good.
Also, why did the author make Shane so surrounded by her job and her mother. There should've been something in between to give her relief, that's if the book was better paced. We would've gotten a better insight on who she is as a person, same with Cameron although she did a better job with his character, the aspect of him with his family was very wholesome. Also, we don't get to hate Averi for long cause she had her redemption arc but honestly, atp I was over the drama. There was a happy ending for everybody or for some, a sastifactory one. It was underwhelming but if you like dramatic soap opera, no use of brain cells whatsoever and you don't care to question most things, basically if you just want to enjoy yourself perhaps pick this book up. It might be your worthwhile, because it definetely was mine.
A great book that will leave you on the edge of your seat the entire read. A real page turner that grips you from the very beginning, is easy to understand and relate to and makes you fall in love with the characters as you read. Author's writing style and books have just the right balance of being colloquially written but very professional in the story telling. This is such a great story and there is no limit to the amount of times I can recommend this book and every other book by this author to another person to read. So honoured that I was able to read it on Wattpad before publication, but I will be purchasing a copy because it needs to be on my shelf. I will definitely be rereading this one! I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did!
I can’t express enough how utterly AMAZING this book was! I’m sooo proud of Tanon and how relentlessly beautiful she came out the gate with this first project! YOU DID THAT GIRLFRIEND!!! I’ve cried continually and rejoiced wholeheartedly with these characters through every hill and valley they journeyed throughout this story, and what a journey did they take! The power of prayer and strength of unconditional redemptive love left me in pools of my own salty tears time and time again and I regret NOTHING!!! One of the most BEAUTIFUL stories I’ve had the absolute honor of reading! Hands down a welcomed addition to my “Favorites Library”… *Chef’s Kiss* 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🥰🥰🥰

Ok, so this may be my fault but I walked into this expecting a full-on contemporary romance.
However this book was not that. For the majority of the book, the romance was not the star of the show. This was a story of self-discovery, loss, friendship and grief.
Shane had a lot to overcome and we got to see her journey from broken to thriving.
There was also a pretty heavy religious aspect that I wasn’t expecting but it was one of the ways the MMCs bonded.
My first Tanon read and not my last. The story line kept me engaged from the beginning. And yes I am one that can truly enjoy a nice slow burn. I loved the friendship Cam & Shane built when they met. I loved the banter between the two. The friendship the two built was so beautiful. The relationship Cam had with his brothers was cute but not as cute as his brother taking to Shane. His brother was autistic but he absolutely loved Shaneeeeee!! I smiled the whole time when I read their chapters.❤️ Now for Cams Ex and His BFF they can both kick rocks with open toes shoes on. But even through all the betrayal Cam stayed humble and true to himself. He really is a man man.! Book bae worthy 100%! I did shed a few tears on some parts. But I really enjoyed this book and dove right into Evol! So glad I dove into her catalog!
This book is really amazing. Tbh all of Tanons books are seriously awesome, she puts a lot of hard work into her books and it really pays off . It would be nice to see this upcoming Author get noticed for her hard work, time and dedication and hopefully other people can realize this to just like all her other supporters do!
I really enjoyed this. First time reading from this author. This is a slow burn sports romance. I don’t wanna give too much away but I had all the feels. This had me giggling, crying and cursing people out. I loved all of this. Definitely recommend
Great book!!! Tanon is an amazing writer 😮💨 Her books have amazing plots that are well developed. All her books are top tier for sure. I really hope she reaches where she wants to as an author❤️
This book was so good to me…especially since I don’t normally like 3rd person writing or sports romance. The plot pulled me right in. I thought it was going to be a basic marriage of convenience romance, but I was all the way wrong! There are 3 main characters Shaina, Cameron, and Averi… 2 contracts with only 1 being broken!
4.75 ⭐️- Let me say that I knew that I was going to be in for a treat because it is Tanon. I read Supreme Survival and the twists and turns that was in that, I knew that I had to put on a seatbelt for turns of this story. Was I wrong? NO!!!
Let me tell you what I loved about this story. What I loved about this story is that we have Cameron Jones, who is an NBA player, who was faithful to his wife. Someone who made sure that he always made sure that she was good. he took care of her in all the ways one can think of, and he was an overall loyal dude. The fact that he was not a cheater and had many women hanging on his arm was a huge win for me. Then we have Shaina "Shane" Richardson. All she wanted to do was take care of her mom and mind her business. I loved that she was focused on what she needed to do and loyal to individuals that she should have left alone. I think that she put everybody ahead of her and she didn't take care of herself in the process. Her boyfriend was trash and treated her as such and I felt bad for her in that regard. Finally, we have the infamous Averi Jones. Honey she was a hot mess, and I will not give too much with this, but she was full of it and I wanted her to be choked out for the stupidity and privilege she felt she deserved.
The web that was weaved with these three was not what I thought it was going to be and this is where Tanon is definitely the queen of twists and turns. I am trying to figure out how in the world did she come up with this situation. Like what you thought it would be, it wasn't. I figured one aspect of it but honestly, that didn't matter. The whole story was excellent. I loved it, I love the writing, and the storyline. I am a fan of Ms. Twists and Turns. We are BFFs now!!! I loved this!!!
This was my first read by Tanon & it will not be my last ! This book was sooooo good in an unexpected!
Averi is a basketball wife & Cam is a star NBA player. They have been happily married for years & Cam ONLY has eyes for Averi. Averi hurts herself while Cam is away & for the next 6-8 wks, shes bed ridden. Cams BF/Agent Rome knows that he is lost without his wife. So he gifted them an "Angel" from an Au Pair service. Enter Shane with her amazing cooking skills, positive attitude & contagious laughter. Averi & Cam take no time getting used to Shane, but little does Shane know that she is about to become a pawn in game she doesn't want to play.
Averi pissed me off, its women out there thats REALLY like her 🙄 but when she matured in the end, I was so proud of her. Cam was literally the sweetest 💕 I was mad as hell at the situation but GODDDDDD came thru like always. Shane was just everything. I loved her positive outlook on all of her situations. The support she had from Priya & her mama just meant everything to her. & speaking of Priya, her & Rome was just too cute. I need a spinoff Ms. Tanon ! Only thing stopping me from giving it 5 stars was I felt like it was so long & drawn out a little, but overall still so amazing !
Something came over me and I stopped everything that I was reading, grabbed this book from this author without any question and started reading this morning. I just finished it in less than 12 hours and OMG 😱. This is my first time reading this author and wow, I am impressed. I was reading this book, all anxious and all because this plot was so original and so good. What I thought was going to happened was twisted out so beautifully that when the shift changed I didn’t even notice it, then I got scared, then happy and the I was warning Shane and Cam all while I was reading. Girl, I do not know how I stumbled on your name and this new release but I can guarantee that you have a new dedicated follower because your penmanship is extremely good. Definitely in my top 20… Shane and Cam, Priya and Roman, then you have BJ, Selena and Aubree…. What a cast. Averie got exactly what she deserved as well as Kaleb, although he got off too easy in my views. That was such a great book. Now I am going to bing on her catalog for more good stuff
“The path to something greater isn’t always an easy road, but it’s worth it in the end.”
This was so good that I couldn’t even sleep until I finished it. I had to know how everything ended. And let me just say I was very satisfied. This was a great story that really embodies the quote above. The way Ave was moving was crazy and it reminded me of Nene saying “you never win when you play dirty” because honestly it’s so true. And here I was thinking she was a good person and wife. 🙄 She was so trash and honestly ain’t even deserve all the kindness thrown her way, but i digress lol. Cam and Shane were some of the cutest characters I’ve ever read. I love a good friends to lovers because the build up is honestly chefs kiss. They way they carried on when they weren’t really checking for each other was my favorite because the friendship was genuine. This was a new to me author and I’ve been putting off reading this all 2023 and I’m glad I finally got to because it was an amazing read and I can’t wait to read more from Tanon.
Man I loved this book soooooooo much!!! First off by the end of the book I realized there were no character descriptions what so ever! No body type, skin tone, eye color, nothing and I loved it! I know exactly what everyone looked like off of vibes lol. Cameron Jones was everything! I mean he was amazing, I loved him sooo so much. He wasn't unhinged or all bossed up like our usual favorite book baes, he was just so.... I can't even describe it 😂 he was special! Reading him and Shanes story was just everything. They had a genuine friendship that was cozy, authentic, loving it was just beautifu! That Averi had me in the beginning but that wench was a nasty piece of work!! She got just what she deserved in the end 🤷🏿♀️🤷🏿♀️ amazing read!! I wish I could read this for the first time again.
This is my second attempt to read this story, but the last attempt was successful. I’m so happy I read it.
Ave was out her mind, but I loved how it all came together. For a minute I was worried about Shane and if she would get led astray.
Shane and Cam were cute and the development of their relationship was so good. Really enjoyable story. And throw in the mini story of Ro and Pri, which I wish was a bit more. Either way this was sweet and definitely had some sad moments.
Trigger warning: death of a parent. But overall this was good.
Take my 3 with a grain of salt. This isn’t a bad story it just wasn’t the right one for me. This just had a few pet peeves for me that I couldn’t get past. Aside from those things, the characters were likable, at times I was definitely breezing through the pages because it was entertaining. It has a lot of elements I’m sure some other people would love so I’d still recommend ppl give it a try and I’ll continue into Tanon’s catalog.
Tanon, Tanon, Tanon…girl what an introduction to your work?! I literally finished in one day because I was determined to see how everything played out. And ma’am, you did not disappoint! I loved theme, plot, characters and it was so believable. Definitely kept me on the edge of my seat!
First found Tanon Tales on Wattpad and I stopped reading on there so when I was browsing and recognized the name I completely freaked out. This book has and always will be a comfort book for me. It’s soo good . And makes me feel the same way I felt the first time I read it
I couldn’t put this book down. When Shane met Pri I thought Au Pair was some kinda of escort service and boy was a wrong. I loved how committed Cam was to Averi until I realized that woman was just the worst, but without her Cam and Shane wouldn’t have been able to make that $20 wish come true. I was so happy for them.
I really enjoyed reading about Shane and Cameron. This story was definitely a wild ride and it had me completely shocked at the twists and turns. I loved Cameron’s character and Shane did not disappoint. I’m happy I added this one to my kindle library .
