**TRILOGY REVIEW**

A story that proves just how dangerous secrets can be!

This was a real suspenseful, entertaining and unputdownable read.

BOOK ONE

Emily seems to be living her best life. Shes just bought her perfect home, has a wonderful boyfriend and her dream job, but that all changes.

Strange unexplained things start happening. Things that really unnerve Emily and she soon forms an unexpected bond with the young man across the street. His family are rather odd bit she finds herself drawn to the mysterious, allusive Lucian, even if his parents aren't impressed.

Emily, curious in nature learns that Lucians older brother went missing 10 years ago, never to be found. Then she is told the woman who lived in her house previously also went missing. And now, her ex boyfriend has disappeared. What is happening, surely they cant be connected... can they?

As the past begins to haunt the present, can Emily find the answers she craves?

BOOK TWO

Still haunted by the events of a year ago, Emily is desperately trying to get her life back on track. Struggling to really move on and drinking too much.

Emily arrives home after a holiday with her parents to find a rose on her doorstep, even though shes had no contact with lucian for a year, she still assumes its him. How does he know where she lives?

Once again her life spirals. Those closest to her and being attacked and when Lucian reappears in her life she realises he is also a victim. Who is torturing them both?

BOOK THREE

Once again Emily is trying to put the past behind her until she revives an invitation to a wedding that she knows Lucian will also be attending.

The day seems to go without a hitch but the following morning Emily awaken to the worst hangover and is covered in bruises with no recollection of what happened.

She then finds out that things didnt quite go smoothly, someone died last night bit Emily cant remember anything! Once again Emily becomes entangled in absolute chaos.

This was one hell of a series that flowed brilliantly.
The characters are extremely well executed and brought to life fantastically.
The plot is constantly throwing you into freefall with huge bumps along the way and the ending was explosive to say the least.

I would definitely recommend reading in order so that you get the full story but they could be read as standalone.

Many thanks to Booksirens for the advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The Secrets We Keep is the third book in the series, and sadly for me I did not enjoy it as much as I did the previous ones I had read. I found this storyline hard to follow along, although I knew some of the characters from previous books. Having said that I would still recommend it to others because not everyone enjoys the same books.

So I don't think you can really read this without reading the first two books in the series. It just follows.

I found this better and more rounded. The characters continue to get more developed but what makes this series si different and readable is the locations and how they people operate. Completely different from other books.

The Secrets We Keep by J.S. Ellis is book three of a trilogy. Book one is The Secret They Kept and book two is Secrets and Lies. I’ve enjoyed all the books that I have read by this author. She always keeps me interested in her stories.

The characters in this series start out as somewhat normal. As normal as most of us are. Emily is the main character and I really liked her a lot. She gets involved with a circle of friends that don’t really seem to be her type. They are all interesting and from my point of view are a little far out. They are models and photographers. Emily is a freelance graphic artist and works from home. It leaves her available at odd hours and she gets entangled with these odd friends. Lucien is the beautiful boy across the street. I say boy because he is younger than Emily. There is an attraction that I don’t think Emily even understands. I will say that the is a full cast of characters and some of them I really liked. As with most books, I think you’ll find some you don’t.

You really want to read all three books. I think if you pick up book two or three, you will have a hard time figuring out what is going on. I remember having a short time of putting it all together with book two. I did with this book also. I had to remember who everyone was and how they tie together. I think that now all three books are released it would be a good idea to acquire them all and binge read them. Keeps everything fresh. I found it a little hard to remember all the details at the beginning and it wasn’t an easy entrance into each book. I was able to work it all out, it just took me a bit.

Overall, if you like quirky characters, a good mystery and a mystery that actually changes over time, I think you will like these books. They are geared to a little younger reader than me but, it doesn’t throw us older folks out of the park either. There is something for everyone! Until next time…Happy Reading!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I received a copy of this book for free, and I leave my review voluntarily.

J.S. Ellis is the author of psychological thrillers and suspense and published her debut psychological thriller in 2019, which was an instant success and received great praise from readers. She writes stories about obsession and betrayal. When she’s not putting her characters in uncomfortable, difficult positions, J.S. Ellis likes to relax with her husband and their fur baby, Eloise. They live on the sunny island of Malta.

“And that left me with a dead end.”

Emily once again finds herself entangled with the beautiful but strange crew. When a wedding turns ugly and results in someone dead, Emily has to figure out what happened that night. The only problem? She only remembers waking up in a bed that didn’t belong to her.

This was a wild ride. The mystery was thick and intense from the first chapter. A lot happened throughout this book, and it was like the fuse that had been lit in the previous books just led to this explosion.

We get to know Jan and Sasha much more in this book, which is nice. It’s another side to this bizarre coin. Emily is just as present, though she can’t remember what happened or how she ended up in bed with Jan.

There was a wild cast of characters in this book, and just when I thought the plot was going in one direction- there was a plot twist. The way this story unraveled was fantastic. This insane house of cards was waiting for the slightest reason to blow over.

The ending was the most jaw-dropping reveal. This series has been such a ride. Secrets surrounded by beauty it’s a dangerous thing.

Emily is trying her best to put the past behind her. Her focus is on her career and making her new apartment home.
Then all of sudden she gets a wedding invitation, her friend Sasha gets married to Lloyd.
Emily attends the wedding and despite her previous doubts she has a really nice night. But when she wakes up the next morning in Jan's hotel room, she has no memory of what happened and how she got those bruises on her body.
Then the police knocks on the door and from that moment on life has taken another sidestep.
Lloyd is found dead and Lucien is missing. What happened that night, where is Lucien and who could have been involved in Lloyd's death?
Not realising it is the 3th book of the Secret they kept-serie I signed up for an ARC-copy of the book. Contrary to the statement that the book can be read as a stand-alone, this is not really easy.
Without any background of the characters and earlier events it's difficult to understand who is who and why Emily is so reluctant to go to the wedding.
It is preferable to read the first two books in order to get to know the characters.
The story itself is quite good but it never approaches the point of being a thriller. There is no tension in the story and precisely because of the many names, the story is sometimes difficult to follow. This also loses any tension and that is a pity.
The plot is well built and there's a twist here and there.
As this is part of a serie there's no real development in the characters.
I'll give this book 3 stars just for the story itself, the plot and the twists.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Secrets We Kept by J.S. Ellis is the third book in The Secret They Kept trilogy. This was a great last book! There were so many activities, so much was going on. The beginning was a bit slow but once the speed picked I could not turn pages fast enough!
In this book, we still follow Emilie and Lucian's story but there is more to focus on other characters and I think that is great. There were some good twists and the ending was just wow! I loved it! It definitely nicely wrapped up the trilogy!

Emily is so ready to draw the line between the past and wants just to concentrate on her career and future! When she receives an invitation to Sasha's wedding she is not sure what to do. It's like stepping back and meeting everyone that she was trying to stay away from. After some hesitation, Emily decides to go and for a while, she felt that was a great decision as the evening went well and she had such a great time... unfortunately morning comes as bomb exposure and nothing will be like before! There is just one question, who is behind all this?

I absolutely loved the ending! This was a great trilogy! Absolutely recommend!

Thank you BookSirens for this chance to read this trilogy!

I received this book from BookSirens in exchange for an honest review. This review is my own opinion.
This is the third book in the series and I have not read the first two. I was a little lost with some of the backstory between some characters. I don’t believe this one can be read as a stand-alone – I would definitely recommend the previous books in this series. Not having that character background it was difficult to keep track of the characters.
Emily attends a friend’s wedding and wakes up the next morning in another friend’s hotel room. She finds out that the groom has died after falling from the balcony of his hotel room. Emily cannot remember a lot after the wedding and tries to figure out what happened to her.
The story in and of itself is good but I didn’t find it thrilling. There are a couple of twists along the way (and one at the end) but it is also difficult to follow.

The Secrets We Keep is the third and final book of this series. The psychological struggles continue for Emily.

Emily has lost time and cannot remember what happened after attending a wedding. Was she drugged? There has been a murder, but she isn’t sure what she may know. Seeking answers she finds herself once again entangled with the lifestyle of Lucien’s and his friends.

I enjoy the subdued tone set in this series by Ms Ellis. It’s dark and foreboding. This is not the “happily ever after” that many readers appreciate. Instead, life continues with its secrets.

My only concern is that by the third book I find that I am having difficulty with remembering all of the past players and their significance when mentioned.

The Secrets We Keep
This is the last book in the triology! This book was nonstop action, mystery, and lots of drama! Sasha is getting married! After the I do’s all hell breaks loose. With all the group getting together to celebrate with Sasha and Lloyd! Hard choices have to be made in this book for all the characters! What secrets r u willing to live with and which can u not live with! The ending was a complete shock to me! The characters r well developed but will surprise u with their decisions. No one is as they seem! I couldn’t put this book down! I highly recommend this book and this trilogy!

This is book 3 of the "The Secret They Kept" series. Although this book could be read as a standalone, I highly recommend you reading book 1 and 2 first to get the full impact of this story. I found it hard to put down. Several mysteries need to be solved, revolving around events that occurred at a wedding. The story is suspenseful as you try to unravel the truth. Who and why was this done? This book, I do believe, ends the series and what a twist at the end!! Recommend. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary, honest review.

I received this book from BookSirens in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a continuation from the last two books and honestly I don’t think I needed a third book. With the way the second book ended was a great way to finish it. This book made me not really like Emily and found her a bit annoying. I did guess who drugged her but finding out who killed Lloyd was a bit open. It didn’t really give all the answers about what happened that night. I wanted to dnf throughout this book multiple times and the only reason I didn’t was because of how short this book was.

A superbly written, completely mad adventure! An excellent continuation of the storyline from the previous two books, following the impressively neurotic main character & her making more bad decisions. On one side you sort of think, she deserves what happens.. But will all be well in the end? An amazing twisty & turny plot! Keeps you riveted from start to the last page! I do recommend all I have read by this writer!

Book 3, it helps to read the previous books to understand the characters' backstories, though this works as a standalone. A wedding takes place, but various mysteries occur that sends Emily on a case where there are deaths, disappearances, and threats. There are many characters involved for Emily to eliminate with little reference to their relationships.

I have read the previous two books and have come to know the characters and the authors writing style. I enjoyed this book as it rounded up an ending in answering some questions but still left some unanswered.

This is a well written storyline and plot with interesting characters.

Once I started reading I was intrigued and glued and wanting to know what will happen.

I enjoyed reading this book

I received a free ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review. Another great book in this series looking into the lives of Emily, Jan and Lucien. More strange occurrences take place arpund these beautiful but flawed people, will Emily ever fit in? I enjoyed this book but felt the "big reveal" came too early so wasn't as impactful as I'd hoped. Still a good story and well worth a read to complete the series

Emily has mixed feelings about attending the wedding of Sasha and Llyod but does go with her friend Anna. That was the first mistake. Things spiral out of control when she went to the 'After Party'. There were so many lies that it was difficult to know who was telling the truth or what was the truth, for there were different versions of it depending on who was telling the story, and in the end, the secrets were much bigger than previously thought. Good entertainment!

Well written book that delves into the relationships individuals become ensnared in and how they change how they envision themselves to be. The characters outward behaviors in large part are meant to shock the conventional general public but internally they are like everyone else. I definitely recommend giving this book a read.

Book 3 in the series. Emily is trying to move forward after events of the past, involving her neighbor Lucien. She gets invited to a wedding that Lucien is also attending. The old feelings for him come back along with more unfortunate events. A nice wrap up to this thriller series.

This is book 3 of The Secret They Kept series! This one starts off so different than the other two in the series.. She wakes up with Lucien's friend, who in the last book we got the impression that he didn't like her.. so to start this book off with him totally threw me.

This one did have the build up where you could clearly see/read her thought process on who did what to her and the killer is found out prior to being confronted at the end. The relationship that she grew to have with this odd group of people in this book is much more advanced than what it would have been in the last two books.. almost too much advanced..

I do find the ending unsatisfying because there was no big dramatic blow up like the last two books, it was more of a group confrontation and then that's the end of it.. There is a surprise Epilogue at the end tough of her and Lucien in the future.. now that, that throws the whole series for a spin.. to think after all this time, over three books, that nothing that happened in the first book was true!! It is crazy to even contemplate that scenario..

OH MY GOSH!! This is the third book in the series, and I really think you should read the first two before reading this one, so you understand what is going and just how deep this secret goes.

Emily is once again entangled with Lucien and those around him. In this story, Emily is invited to a wedding she knows he will be attending. She knows she should be putting the past behind her, but she cannot let loose of Lucien. While there she meets up with Lucien's friend, Jay, and things from there get a tad out of control. After waking in a hotel room with Jay, with no recollection of the night before, she is thrust into a mystery that will end with one colossal secret coming to the surface.

I cannot say enough good things about this series. I have read many books by this author, and I am NEVER disappointed. This is one series that grabs you from the get-go and even the ending of the series will leave you shocked. The characters are extremely well written, and you will end up loving the Emily-Lucien story, or at least I did.
