It’s a perk of being the only daughter of Gabe Colt and Chris Decker.
Except, no one knows my fathers are together.
They kept their marriage private along with their children.
They hid us–and their love for each other–for years.
I grew up sheltered from the celebrity world.
But I was exposed to so many lies…
All I’ve ever wanted is a normal life.
Friends.
Love.
Sure, I have my brothers and the handsome, geeky Mason Bradley, but that’s not enough.
I want more.
I want romantic love.
Instead of finding it—him–I fell for Porter Kendrick.
I thought he loved me.
He only loved that I worshiped him.
After a loss that rocks my world, I find myself relying on the only friend I’ve ever had.
The first book in the Unexpected Everlasting duet will invoke tears and heartbreak in a gut-wrenching love story. This book ends on a cliffhanger that’ll change everything…
Claudia is an award-winning, USA Today bestselling author. She writes alluring, thrilling stories about complicated women and the men who take their breath away. She lives in Denver, Colorado with her husband and her youngest two children. She has a sweet Bichon, Macey, who thinks she's the ruler of the house. She's only partially right. When Claudia is not writing, you can find her reading, knitting, or just hanging out with her family. At night, she likes to binge watch shows with her equally geeky husband.
I had high expectations for this story. Yes, it was emotional, angsty and heartbreaking. Yet, the writing and the story didn’t grip me. Unfortunately all that drama and pain didn’t manage to touch my heart.
There wasn’t any romance in this part. There was a strong relationship and bond between Mason and Ainsley, but I never found the epic love. Only a few titbits of romantic feelings which were very slightly connoted. It simply didn’t work for me. I don’t think I will read the final part… 🤷🏻♀️
Damn this book tore me apart, made me cry bloody tears (well almost), and made me wanna sing to the rooftops above my home!
Yeah it was that much of a surreal, emotional, personal and realistic as it can be novel. Loved it so much!
Nine and Mason made me wanna fall in love, and not just anyone, but a best friend. Cause honestly, who knows you better than your best friend. Yet were so different in many ways.
Nine came from music royalty and was a daughter to two closeted gay famous fellas, and her brothers were rock royalty on their own too. While she was the pretty but very much duckling in this whole shebang.
Mason came from his own set of problems - his parents were difficult people as promised - and his father turned him into some sort of a clark kent ubergenius with war weapons kinda man, and I was digging it.
Obviously the parents knew each other hence the friendship blossoming.
Then a curiosity of wanting to explore between Nine and Mason, coupled with dealing with their own demons as always, familial problems, achieving dreams and just being their real honest self when everyone wants to quash that part of you so bad.
I loved the realism of it all, the emotions, the confessions, the groveling, the connection between them, the banter, the relatability of how they both get through their problems, the side characters - no the parents were sh**y people - everything was just so damn deep and discomforting, and truthful and emotional and aaaaah what else can I say, it was perfection!
Only problem - was that Nine was a bit too stupid and it carried on for a bit longer than I wanted, plus the parents behaviour made me wanna hurl something - cause the drama was just too long I felt.
But whatever, I still loved this novel to pieces and so.
Can't wait for the next and final part! It's gonna answer so many questions and finally get the HEA for this loved up fucked up couple haha.
PLus the next part is already out, so have fun too, like me while reading it haha! Just loved this one so much haha.
Well, I just finished listening to SUDDENLY BROKEN and my heart is heavy because Ainsley has been through soooo much but her best friend, Mason, was there right by her side every time she needed him too bad their romance didn't get a chance to really start yet...thank you cliffhanger.
Ainsley has lived a sheltered life and a strange one at that, she doesn't have any friends other than Porter, who becomes her boyfriend, and Mason who is her best friend. I didn't like Porter and honestly you won't either, there's nothing redeeming about him....like at all. But Mason, now he's a whole different story, I totally fell for him because he was the protector, the white knight, the superhero, he was anything and everything that Ainsley needed.
Mason Bradley is a bit of a secret to Ainsley, yes they are best of friends and have been for ages but she doesn't know what he does for a living, and it's easy to hide since she's away at college. She jokes about him playing games and bumming around but the truth of the matter is he's a very intelligent man that has developed a video game and owns his own high level security firm, he goes off grid quite often and she has no idea why but he has a knack of always reappearing exactly when she needs him.
This story is Narrated by Tyler Tetsuda and Emma Wilder who did a wonderful job with bringing everything to life, they added another layer to the story especially when you could hear the pain that Ainsley was going through at times come out in the way Emma was narrating the different parts. If you have the opportunity to listen to the audiobook I would definitely recommend you do so.
I cannot wait to get my hands on the second book of this duet SUDDENLY US to see how Mason and Ainsley finally get their HEA because I know they do, I've read about their daughter, Grace, in CALL YOU MINE.
If you enjoy New Adult Romances I would recommend this book to you.
This first half of the story follows Ainsley Decker, from the time she's fifteen, and Mason Bradley, beginning when he's nineteen, until Ainsley is in her early twenties. Ainsley has two brothers, Matthew and Jacob, with whom she shared a womb, and parents who are world famous on the screen and in music.
All of her life, Ainsley has been sheltered, protected and sequestered from the world. It kept her safe from raving fans and paparazzi, but it also served to hide her family's secrets. She's never gone to a party, had a sleepover, or even had friends. Except for Mason, the son of her family's head of security, and he's never let her down.
We can all see what Ainsley and Mason share is special, but they’re only friends, and Ainsley longs for love. She finds it in Porter Kendrick, a boy their family took in who shares her love of music. If only he could love Ainsley half as much as the music.
Oh, my heart, y'all, grab the tissues and prepare to be ruined and wrecked by exquisite heartbreak and crushing devastation as Ainsley leaves her family and sets out on her own. She's smart, kind and talented, and utterly unprepared for life's harsh cruelties. Yet the one light, the one constant, the one linchpin as fate batters her about is Mason.
Angsty and gut-wrenching, yet so dang sweet it will melt the coldest heart, I would be doing you a disservice if I didn’t enthusiastically urge you to follow along Ainsley and Mason's road to forever. This duet is Burgoa's best work to date and one of my top five reads this year, so run now to the 1-Click and begin this incredible journey today.
Suddenly Broken (Unexpected Everlasting Duet #1) is an absolute angst fest! My goodness Ainsley Decker and Mason Bradley really put me through it. Claudia Burgoa has an excellent talent for creating angst filled books with engaging storylines and she is truly at her best with this highly emotional, best friends to lovers romance.
Mason and Ainsley’s story is very intense and takes you on an emotional journey that’s filled with love, friendship, tearful and heart gripping moments. Both of them come from unconventional backgrounds with Ainsley being the daughter of high profiled celebrities who have a hidden relationship and because of that, she’s been isolated and sheltered all of her life. Mason is Arthur Bradley’s son who’s the security detail/bodyguard for the Decker family and Arthur is a highly skilled former ranger who has high expectations for Mason. Mason has somewhat followed in Arthur’s footsteps and while he can certainly hold his own, he always feels like a failure. Given their issues, secrets, pain and everything in between, they have quite the uphill battle to navigate through.
Trust me when I tell you, Suddenly Broken is a whirlwind. I know there has to be a light at the end of the tunnel with Suddenly Us, the second book in the duet.
have come to expect great characters, heartfelt emotions, broken souls and imperfect but loving families in books by Claudia Burgoa and Suddenly Broken did not disappoint.
Mason Bradley has been shuttled between his parents and can’t seem to measure up to what either one wants. Ainsley is the child of celebrity parents who have kept her and her twin brothers hidden from the world all her life. Mason and Ainsley both come from somewhat dysfunctional and broken homes, but they have been close friends throughout their lives. Ainsley has been a bit more open with Mason than he has been with her, but they are always there for the other no matter what. I cried for Ainsley when she was isolated and emotionally abused by Porter and was glad that she had Mason in her corner. I loved that she finally told her family everything that had happened between her and Porter and how she felt when her parents kept so many secrets about her and her siblings and their lives.
I feel the love between Mason and Ainsley and can’t wait to read the second book in the duet to see if / when they find their way through the pain they have experienced to a life together. I received a free copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
**ARC** If you have read a story by Claudia, you know you are going to go on a rollercoaster ride of emotions.
We've met these characters before, but this first half of the duet tells the story of Mason and Ansley starting from their teenage years, what they have gone through, how they met and how the formed the most incredible friendship.
They both are marked by their parents decisions, they see realtionships in a different way, but they know they can always rely on each other.
Ainsey goes trough hell and back, she has a lot of insecutiries and low self steem, and with the support of her trusty super hero, and her family she gets help and is in the road to recovery.
Mase, is discovering who he is, and working towards his goal to stablished his company and saving the world, but also saving the girl.
In this first half they start to feel, that the friendship is shifting, and has the potential to be more...
Wow, what an emotional angsty story this was! I loved every page of it! 5 stars for this one! This story follows the lives of Mason and Ainsley. Ainsley is part of a famous family, yet they've kept them hidden from the public, Mason and his dad have been around them their whole lives pretty much protecting them from the public. To say it's made Ainsley angry is putting it mildly. But Mason is always there for her to pick up the pieces of her life. Sit back and relax and enjoy this one, and yes it ends in a cliff hanger but lucky us the second book releases the same day so on to book 2 I go! Enjoy this one!
Beware: Claudia is going to do what she does best--put your heart through an obstacle course. And this is only the first half of the story. Ainsley, daughter of Gabe & Chris, sister of Matthew & Jacob--her wombmates, best friend to Mason Bradley, and friend and eventual secret girlfriend to Porter Kendrick. Ainsley kind of resents the secrecy she's been surrounded by her entire life.
What a wonderful foundation with so many broken pieces to work through. Mason and Ainsley have an incredible friendship which has been through so much of their baggage. I felt the author did an incredibly detailed foundation for how this story is going to proceed and I refuse to write more in this review as I need to go read the next installment now
This has got to be one of the worst things I’ve ever read. 🙄 Honestly. I don’t normally rates DNFs but feel very strongly about this and especially because there are so many 5 star reviews 🙈
All of the characters outside Mason were terrible. Ainsley is the weakest doormat. I don’t care if her upbringing has anything to do with how she matured. I can’t tell you how much I rolled my eyes. 🙄
From the parents (2 dads) that have kept their 3x golden secret their whole life to protect their image -they’re rockstars. 🙄
To the the POS boyfriend Porter who has needs to keep their relationship secret, because also a rockstar, needs to be “single” so his fans will still want him 🙄. After she gives up Julliard because Porter doesn’t like NYC, he tells her to go to University of Texas, which she does, and then he lives in LA🤔 she writes songs for him (which I am surmising why he’s even with her but I’m clearly not sticking around to find out) and goes to see one of his concerts and basically walks in on him with his opening act fooling around, and this is the next interaction
Porter finally directs his gaze at me. It says, keep-your-mouth-shut-or-you’ll-regret-it. I lower my head and follow my family. When we reach the parking lot, I pull out my phone. Maybe if I ask him what’s happening, he’ll apologize or… I’m surprised when I see a text from him.
PK: Don’t you dare say a word to them or me. It was a show, end of story. A: It’s okay if you want to break up with me. PK: I said stop, or I swear you’ll regret it. A: Sorry.
It took an entire month of calls, emails, texts, and voicemails to get him to forgive me. One month. But when he came home, he was happy. We were happy. I swore I wouldn’t fuck up again.
Like what the actual fuck. 🙄🙄 There’s nothing I hate more than a bad female MC. There’s no way I could keep reading about her. I literally don’t care.
And will leave on this gem when she asks him to come visit her because she has “news” to tell him. He’s been horrible to her and basically storms in asking what the fuck she is bothering him for 🙄
”We have an appointment later this week… the sonogram of the baby.” “Do I get any say about this shit you threw at me, AJ?” His back tenses. He doesn’t turn around. “Half of that is mine. What if I don’t want it?” That question is a slap in the face, and this time, I fight back. “I don’t need you. Walk away and leave us alone.” I head to the stairs. It’s over. “Baby, I can’t live without you. You’re my support, my muse. You’re the air I breathe. All I need to survive.”
This story is heartbreaking with Ainsley's story. She has lived a very sheltered life being one of the secret child of her dads and part of the triplets that isn't famous. We really she her grow up to be a young woman that goes through a lot of heartbreak and grows up as well.
I enjoyed the friendship that Mason has with Ainsley and how he was so supportive of her. There wasn't much romance in the story but felt more a set up for the next story.
This was narrated by Tyler Tetsuda and Emma Wilder and they did a great job.
Thank you @hambright.pr for a copy of the audiobook.
Mason and Ainsley two very complex characters with loads of baggage. All the characters contributed to how these two got closer to one another. When Ainsley was in trouble no matter where or what mason was doing he was always there . There was a few heartbreaking moments that really tugged at my heart strings. I can’t wait to see what happens next for these two . The narrators did a wonderful job bringing these two to life . I was pleased with both the story and the narration .
I absolutely loved Suddenly Broken by Claudia Burgoa; the first book in her Unexpected Everlasting Duet, it is an incredible love story involving the friendship between best friends. Claudia Burgoa continues to provide readers with incredible love stories filled with amazing characters. She continues to prove that she is an amazing storyteller. I love all the characters in Suddenly Broken, they feel like family! Suddenly Broken filled me with a rollercoaster of emotions, I could not put it down, and I loved every moment on every page. Who does not love hot sexy men, strong females, loving families, and friends, who always support one another? I really enjoy how the book is told in the first person from the perspective of the main characters. I love getting the insight and feelings from the different characters. I love the lighter moments where I find myself smiling and laughing out loud. My favorite moments are the ones that pull at my heartstrings that cause me to sigh, as I read the heartbreaking moments. Suddenly Broken is filled with heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. It is filled with all those things that I have come to love and expect in Claudia Burgoa love story, and she did not disappoint, especially with the poignant and bittersweet moments that filled this page turner. Suddenly Broken is a love story between Mason Bradley, owner of HIB Securities – High Intelligence Bradley Securities and Ainsley Decker. I loved how the book spans years of their friendship, and you could see the growth in Mason, Ainsley and her brothers Jacob and Matthew. Ainsley and Mason meet as children, when Mason would stay at her home while his father was on a mission. Mason has always been Ainsley’s go-to guy, but Mason did not pursue Ainsley because of his career and age difference. When Ainsley heads off to college in Texas, she begins dating and moves in with musician Porter Kendrick. An unanticipated plot twist occurs that builds an unbreakable bond between Mason and Ainsley, and causes Ainsley to make changes in her life. Make sure you have a box of Kleenex nearby. Mason is there to support her, but because of his job and the missions he undertakes they go for long periods of time with the only way to communicate with one another is through an email address that Mason sets up for Ainsley through HIB Securities. I love Mason’s nickname for Ainsley and how the nickname originated. I love how Ainsley shares things with Mason that she has never shared before, especially when Ainsley tells Mason about her emotionally abusive relationship with Porter. I love all the things that Mason does for Ainsley to let her know that he is always there for her even when he is not physically present. I love the characters and the family dynamic in Suddenly Broken, the characters feel like family and friends. I enjoyed all the interactions between Decker siblings and with Mason especially their teasing that made me laugh. Who does not love family and friends that always have each other’s backs? I thoroughly enjoyed Suddenly Broken, who does not love a love story about the bonds of friendship? I am not used to reading love stories that do not have a happily ever after, but I am looking forward to reading Suddenly Us, to read the conclusion of Mason and Ainsley’s love story. Highly recommend this incredible love story.
After reading about Mason Bradley in the various series (Baker's Creek, Sinners of Seattle, Everhart, etc) we finally get to learn more about Mason and how he got together with Ainsley Decker.
The story is from Mason and Ainsley's POVs and it started with their childhood. They have known each other since Mason was 5 years old. Mason spent a lot of time with Ainsley and her brothers (all three of them are triplets) growing up. Mason's dad, Arthur, worked for the Decker family as their security/bodyguard. Ainsley didn't grow up like any other kid. Her parents, Gabriel and Christian, were celebrities so they sheltered Ainsley and her brothers. Basically the world didn't know that her parents were together romantically or that they had any kids! The secretive nature of her life really messed with Ainsley. Mason on the other hand has to deal with divorced parents who will constantly argue about him in front of him. His parent's relationship sours him on any type of long term relationship. However Mason's smart so he has his own business before he was 18 years old. By his early 20s, his business HIBS is very successful and as we know from the other series that involved Mason, his family with Ainsley, or his business.
Ainsley and Mason have been best friends and she can tell him anything. She doesn't know what Mason does for a living other than he develops video games. Mason is gone a lot of times but he always shows up when Ainsley needs him and she knows that he will always be there for her.
When Ainsley ventures out into the world by going to college in Austin, TX (her family's home is in California), she was secretly dating someone who is a rising singer (her dad Chris Decker is helping him since Chris is in the music business). As she is on her own, she feels distant from her family since her brothers are in college in Seattle and her parents can't be seen with her because the world doesn't know them or that they had any kids! Her boyfriend is hardly ever around since he's on tour and he is also hiding her since having a girlfriend wouldn't be good for his career. When something unexpected happens, she ends up calling Masson who goes to support her. When her boyfriend breaks up with her, she turns to Mason and he vows to always be there for her. When tragedy strikes, it further bonds Ainsley and Mason. I cried when the tragedy happens and was glad that Mason was with her during that time.
Ainsley and Mason have this deep connection but they never really consider each other more than just close friends. Things start changing as Mason continues to make sure he is there for Ainsley. Things take turn for the worse with Ainsley and her parents (and brothers) when she goes home hoping to get the support of her parents but instead finds the ex-boyfriend there. She leaves in anger and reaches out to Mason! To be continued......
Wow, Claudia Burgoa takes you on an angsty emotional rollercoaster ride and tears your heart out and wrings it out to dry in this first part of the “Unexpected Everlasting” Duet. This book is well-written with interesting storylines that are captivating from start to end. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. Ainsley Ja“Nine” is a triplet with two brothers, Jacob and Matthew, and famous parents. Their Papa, Chris Decker, is a legend rockstar and their Dad, Gabe Colt, is of Hollywood fame. They kept their relationship a secret and their children too, and the reason they had a sheltered upbringing. It may have been a privileged life, but it was still lacking in many aspects. She had her brothers and became good friends with Mason Bradley, the son of her father’s head of security. And then there was Porter Kendrick, a boy her fathers took him in and mentored and one she crushed on. Mason Bradley came from a broken home and as a young boy his Mom dropped him off so his father would take him, except he was at work but his book Chris Decker said let him stay at his home and that is how he and the Decker children became friends. Ainsley saw always thought of him as a geeky gamer, but there is so much more to him than that, but he does not let anyone know what his real deal is. He is secretly in love with her and hated watching what Porter Kendrick was doing to her, but he was there for her when she needed him and he was always the first person she called. The heartfelt emotions run high in this book and there is plenty of drama, family and relationship, angst, heartbreak, and a super slow burn romance. Claudia Burgoa, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧 📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Tyler Tetsuda and Emmer Wilder are entertaining storytellers and versatile voice artists. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that fit that character’s persona and were believable in every role they played. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they capture all the character’s emotions and projected them into their performance. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the great listen.
I loved this rewrite to Mason and AJ's friends to lovers story! It is raw, and emotional, a little frustrating at times, but I loved it. Ainsley Janine "AJ" Colthurst-Decker or 'Nine' as Mason affectionately calls her, has grown up in a musical family and is extremely talented herself. She is the lone girl in a set of triplets, who are hidden away from the public to protect them and her fathers. But she feels alone, and unwanted, being so isolated. Mason's parents have separated and they are both hard on him in different ways. He feels unloved and like he must constantly prove himself to them both. He is a numbers nerd, but also trains in the security business like his father. He is close with all the triplets but feels closest and protective of AJ. When she starts dating Porter, a musician being groomed by her fathers, she keeps it secret. Porter takes her away and separates her from her family making her feel even more alone. But Mason is always there for her, even when he is away on 'secret' trips. When things get really bad for AJ, Mason is there to help her pick up the pieces. AJ has worked hard to heal and grow stronger. Mason is looking for a place to belong and feel loved. He and AJ begin to have more intimate feelings for each other, wondering if they could be more than friends. But Mason can't stay in one place, and has too many secrets he's keeping from AJ. When he has to leave on one of his 'trips', he is afraid AJ will move on without him. Will he be able to handle seeing her with another man? I love both Mason and AJ, and their close bond was so beautiful. I loved AJ's growth from her past struggles and how strong she is becoming. Mason is so dominant, thoughtful, attentive and dorky. He was always there at a moments notice to help and support AJ and to lift her spirits. Their story is so sweet, a bit frustrating, with gut wrenching heartbreak as well. The narration by Tyler Tetsuda and Emma Wilder was amazing and added so much depth to these characters and their breathtaking story. They bring it to life so clearly, making me feel all the angst, heartbreak, forgiveness, hope, and love. This story is a rollercoaster of emotion that was so consuming, I didn't want it to end! I can't wait to find out what happens next in the conclusion to Mason and AJ's story!
Oh my heart! This is the first book in the Unexpected Everlasting Duet and it brings every emotion to the surface. Ainsley Janine Colthurst-Decker is the daughter of a famous musician and his husband, but to the world she doesn't exist. Her and her brothers have been hidden from the world to keep them safe from the prying eyes of the world and to protect her father's public image as no one knows about his relationship. Her life has been so sheltered she hasn't been to a party, had a boyfriend or been to school. Despite that Mason Bradley, who is the son of the head of security for the Colthurst Deckers, is Ainsley's best friend. This first book in the duet covers the period of Ainsley and Mason from the age of 15 and 19 respectively until Ainsley is in her early 20's. Despite the bond between AJ and Mase, Ainsley goes into a relationship with Porter Kendrick, a famous popstar taken on by AJ's parents' record company. But Porter isn't all that he seems and what starts off as a secret attraction, soon turns into a relationship built on mental abuse and lies. Over the course of these few years, Ainsley has to deal with some gut wrenching situations, and always when she needs it, Mason will be there when she calls him. When Ainsley's world falls apart, she confronts her fathers with their neglect of her and their favoritism of her brothers and Porter and when that goes sideways, Mason is there to pick up the pieces. This book is a whirlwind in its story, its emotions and the cliff hanger at the end, just makes you long for part two. It is so good!
Suddenly Broken A Decker Family Novel (Unexpected Everlasting, Book 1) By: Claudia Burgoa Narrated by: Tyler Tetsuda, Emma Wilder
The feeling of not being wanted has to be the worst in the world. That is how AJ feels. One of the triplets in a musical family, she has been sheltered all her life to stay out of the limelight and keep her parents marriage out of the public. Even her boyfriend keeps her a secret. But she does have Mason, her best friend. He is building his own company, so most of their interaction is by email, but their friendship is everything. He is there for her, and in her most happy and most tragic of moments he is by her side. Now facing her parents, with her feelings of loneliness, she and her brothers find out just how deep the secrets and betrayals are. Hopefully they can heal now, but there is still a lot left open. And the feelings between Mason and AJ are growing. Will it continue in his absence? Will AJ and her brothers mend the broken relationship with their dads? It's emotional and heart wrenching and all the good things Claudia Burgoa can give us. I am grabbing the second book because I have to know what happens to this couple and the family!
Tyler Tetsuda and Emma Wilder are our narration team, and they bring all the emotions out in this story. It's my first Tetsuda listen and he is a perfect fit a Mason. Attentive and protective, he give Mason a feel of loving AJ at arms length. Wilder is a master at the emotional new adult, and she tugged at my heart so many times! These two are perfectly cast and I can't wait to hear more.
I want to start by saying I have been dying to read AJ and Mason's story for a long time now. While it was available as Unsurprisingly Complicated, I hadn't had a chance to read it yet. I think I am glad I waited for this duet.
This book is extremely heartbreaking at times. There was one point that I almost wished it had a trigger warning, not that it would have stopped me from reading it. I was not expecting to be able to relate to Ainsley in so many ways. There were so many thing she experiences in her life that I have gone through too.
I absolutely loved getting an in depth look at these characters pasts. This book really shows us what made these characters who they are. Which also gives us insight into why they do things the way they do in the other books they appear in.
The friendship Mason and Ainsley share is one I envy. To have that one person who has known you most of your life. That person who has been there for you when you needed them. The one who has been your rock. That is something I think everyone needs in their life.
Claudia Burgoa told an incredibly painful story in an absolutely beautiful way. I truly can't wait to read the second book in this duet and find out how Mason and AJ's friendship develops into something more. Honestly, I am really hoping for some scenes with baby Grace, Seth, and Nathan.
Having read Ms.Burgoa's work many times before it always makes me smile whenever I get to pick up another book of hers! From the moment I found out about this duet, I couldn't wait to have it in my life! I jumped into the Unexpected Everlasting world as soon as I could and got right into this story. I so enjoyed this first book!
This first installment in Mason and Ainsley's journey pulled me in so very quickly! Going into their story i didn't know what all to expect. These two have been in each other's lives for quite some time. They're friends. Sometimes things happen in life that can change everything, something Mason and Ainsley most definitely know. I couldn't wait to see how things would play out for them in this first book!
I was so glad that i got to dig deeper with both Mason and Ainsley. I could really feel their connection and the emotions that poured from them. I had no clue how things were going to unfold for them in this book and that had me even more glued to it! I loved that i felt so many things from start to finish with these characters!
With Suddenly Broken, Ms.Burgoa has created such a good read that grabbed my heart and had me feeling so much! I can't wait to find out what happens next in book two, Suddenly Us!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from the author*
I've grown used to Claudia Burgoa style of writing, but I was NOT prepared for this book. From start to finish my heart broke for Ainsley. She was sheltered and too young to know better. Her relationship with Potter was difficult to read and you could see all the red flags which she didn't. And then when tragedy struck, I had to put my kindle down because it was just too much. I loved her relationship with Mason from the beginning. They share a special bond that cannot be broken. He was there when she needed him the most and for that I fell for him hard. At this point I really hate her family. They are not doing their job at looking after her. She feels alone and with good reason. I'm not sure I could get past it all if I were her.
This story ends on a somewhat positive note so I’m hoping book 2 won't leave me a crying mess once again because I need Ainsley to find her happy place. Its way past due.

While wanting to read about Mason and Ainsleys'story I wasn't prepared for the angst and sadness that both of these characters experienced as children and later as adults. Their story begins as youngsters but fully moves ahead later. What an emotional story, my heart went out to Ainsley feeling left out in her challenging family and then under the control of her na my P rcissist finance...but through it all Mason was her person. He was there when she needed her and when they slowly involved from the friends to lover the reader becomes full of hope for these two.
Claudia wrote a beautiful story as only she does, this may be one of her more emotional stories but so well written, I couldn't put it down. I look forward to reading the next book to see how these two navigate finding their HEA.
Suddenly Broken is the 1st book in the Unexpected Everlasting Duet, and wow it is an emotional roller-coaster. From the first chapter, I couldn't put the book down. I cried more than I laughed but I loved the storyline, the writing and the characters 100%.
This is Ainsley (AJ, Nine) Decker and Mason Bradley's story. It's to ultimate is a heart retching friends to lovers romance and must be read with book 2. Don't start it if your not committed to both books.
She is the secret child of celebrity parents, he is the son of Ainsley's parent's bodyguard, and they have always been there for each other. She finds love with someone else and all he can do is bury himself in work and be there when she needs him. Together they grow, experience tragedy, and try to survive, in very different ways.
It never occurred to me that this could happen. This wonderful story with wonderful characters was so twisted. The parents, two handsome famous men ( a rock star & an actor) who have a huge secret that can be career ending. The children, triplets. One girl. Two boys.. raised at home with tutors. As they grow the tutors change. The boys go to camp but their sister is not interest. The parents bring home another young boy and he bonds with her. The storyline takes off as they grow up and she becomes too close to him. The world build is fantastic and the story is perfectly paced. You won't want to put it down. I highly recommend this Duet. It has a cliffy but both books are out. If you haven't read this author, Claudia Burgoa, you will love these books!!!!
Wow…this one was tough to read. The heart and determination of Ainsley is commendable but dang…. this girl had to go through so much. Masons fears kept him away for so long but he was a great friend/confidant to Ainsley. At times I wanted to scream and both Ainsley and Mason - get it together. But as you read, you realize the deep pain, hurt and fears that they are trying to work through. This one will get all the emotions going -hurt your heart, get you mad but also fill you with some hope. Claudia dang near ripped my heart out with this one. Can’t wait to read the second book and find out how this amazing story continues.
