Having lost yet another partner, Rebecca is placed on desk duty awaiting her next partner, a werewolf. Doing cold case research, Rebecca discovers a connection between a series of cold cases and a new string of murders by a threat labelled "Caedes". She and her new shifter partner Dorian then begin the hunt for Caedes.
I really enjoyed this story, Rebecca is a well-defined character, whose motivations and emotions are both understandable and easy to relate to. The story moves well, and draws the reader in. I read it in one sitting, and look forward to the next book in the series.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting much from this book, boy was I wrong. I loved the characters, especially the protagonist, Rebecca, a good example of a strong and independent woman. I completely fell in love with Dorian, and even secondary characters like Carl or Arkanseus stole my heart.
The world where the action takes place is more than I imagined it would be, full of action, assassins and magical drugs. A world where countless mythological creatures live at, but it doesn't feel like is too much. I really felt like I was there, with the characters.
I am so excited to read the next book ^^

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading this, but I enjoyed this book quite a bit. Much of the paranormal I've read lately has fallen into two categories, YA or erotica. This was neither. It was well written with a good plot and developed and engaging characters. There were a couple areas where things got a little repetitive and felt a bit like filler and other areas that seemed a little rushed and jumbled. All in all this is a promising start to a good series.
I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.
Rebecca is a paranormal investigator for the Portal Agency who has been assigned a new partner fresh out of the training academy as her old partner is in the hospital in a coma, she and Jarred are hunting for a skinwalker who is murdering humans making it look like an animal attack then they get a tip and go to a club and into a private back room where you can find humans, fairies, shifters, and any other number of paranormal creatures they find a skinwalker doing unimaginable evil to a human woman and things go bad. Jarred is wounded by the skinwalker who shifts to an animal in front of them and runs off. She makes it back to P.A. and her boss assigns her another partner Dorian Grayrock who happens to be a wolf shifter when they meet there is something very hot between them but they had some serious work to get to. The situation gets more intense as murder continues and Rebecca finds clues as she and Dorian get closer. Sideon who is in prison is a skinwalker that has volunteered to help find the killer unknown to him at the time he knows the killer well. A very intriguing storyline and characters. Drama, mystery, suspense, violence, good/bad magic, and romance. Cliffhanger. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Rebecca is an experienced magical agent working with her new partner, a wolf shifter named Dorian Grayrock. She doesn’t make things easy for him, but he is good at what he does and can win her respect. Will their teamwork be what finally catches the serial killer?
The writing is excellent, flowing at a perfect brisk pace and giving the reader a vivid picture of what’s going on around the characters. The characters themselves were each unique and felt very believable. The suspense is well placed to keep the reader’s full and active attention throughout. The dialog was realistic and the interaction of the characters gave us a good feel for the rapport they were developing, the story line keeping me on edge all the way through. Well done!
In Haunted Deception(The Portal Agency Files Book 1) by Jayda Blackstone, that I received through Bookfunnel, Despite her job being to rid the streets of those she considers magical scum, Rebecca needs to work with the Portal Agency by teaming up with one of them to hunt a paranormal serial killer, the same one that put her first partner in a coma. Will working with Dorian, a wolf shifter, change her mind about some of the paranormal and will they manage to stop the killer? I enjoyed reading this book and hope to read more by Jayda so I definitely recommend in my review. This book is available on Amazon
Agent Rebecca rocks !! Denizens of the black magic underworld beware, when she and her partner ( a wolf shifter) team up, no one will be able to shake them off. Not even Caedes who’s been killing with impunity for years !! 4⭐️ Read with great characters, the start of world building and it leaves you wanting to know more and read book 2 !! I received a copy from BookFunnel without the request for reviews and am writing this review out of my own choice.
WOW! This book is packed with action from beginning to end. Rebecca has had a rough time keeping partners and she has a serious dislike of anomalies. So imagine her surprise when her supervisor tells her that her new partner is one and he just witnessed her a a very weak moment. This book has action, adventure and magic. If that's your cup of tea, keep reading! I can't wait until the next release in this series.

I got enjoyed the story and all the action going on throughout. Rebecca is so good at what she does and she doesn’t stop until she has found the answers. Even though she wanted nothing to do with Dorian he won her over with his awesome detective work. I was hooked from the start and wasn’t disappointed and I don’t believe you will be either.

This book is by a new author for me but I liked the blurb so decided to give her a try, I'm glad I did because it held my interest from beginning to end, I liked the author's writing style it's imaginative and her world-building is great. The characters are well-developed and interesting and the plotline features danger, suspense action and mystery as well as some unexpected twists and turns.
I definitely want to read the next book in the series.
Rebecca cannot seem to keep a partner. Now when her newest one nearly gets them killed, she is forced to work with one of them. An anomaly. Dorian is more than just a werewolf, he is a damned good PA agent and her newest partner. With the stakes on this case riding high, they will need to trust each other. This was so good I couldn't put it down! Read this and find out what happens with Rebecca and Dorian.

I loved this PNR Murder Mystery storyline. It has action, adventure, great world-building, and amazing, defined main characters, and a paranormal serial killer. I found this read to be enjoyable and entertaining, and I'm looking forward to the next book in this series. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.
Haunted Deception starts with a fairy and a Boom! From page 1 this book will have you hooked. I can't wait to read more. It's definitely something I will read again. Solid 5 🌟.

This was a good read, a interesting take on the Serial killer troupe and an intriguing dynamic between Rebecca and Dorian. Rebecca is hard core, no nonsense and not interested in a Were as a partner, even temporarily. Bad sh!t happens, people grow closer and someone gets an unexpected pet.
Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2022 This is a new author and genre for me. It is a very well-written plot and the characters are spot-on. Can't wait for the next book.
The reason I liked this book a lot was the way Jayda created a paranormal serial killer it grab my attention immediately and kept me glued to the story.
